It would be great if developers of such great tweaking applications such as HTCustom and HTC TweakUI can make those available for Artemis platform, as for now they are targeted for other HTC devices.
Developers, as well as users who also want them here, notice this post and reply.
BTW, in future, it would be great to have them for HTC Kaiser as well, cause it will be a killer device and I am planning to get one.

as the title suggests i am very new to this world, and only was introduced to it by luck, and glad i was. Anyways just wanted to know where i could find the latest and greatest 3des.3.x for a dopod 838 pro
Also another question after some browsing it seems as though the black is the most popular, but why?? It seems to lack alot of applications in comparision to the 3des Hermes, is there any floors with the 3des hermes that i have not yet read?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
help needed
Ya i wish to find out more as well as i m using dopod 838pro, y is it after i update to the official rom of wm 6, my bluetooth can't receive file and what is the best and stable rom that you guys will recommend, pls help, i wish to enhance my hermes to top performance and what softwares is a must for it to be the best pda companion.
Welcome to a world of wonder boys. First thing that you will learn about this site is that it is large and complex and can be really daunting at first.
I recommend first starting here
And then try the guides from Mr. Vanx.
After that, just start plopping ROMs on your device and testing them out. You are bound to find one that is right for you. And if not, by the time you try four or five ROMs you will probably be ready to cook your own.
@2revup - many ROM flashers actually find that a ROM free of most software is better than a bloated ROM. It enables the user to keep most of the device's memory free to install programs of his/her choosing.
thanks for that larsuck i will do some more reading, looking forward to getting some nice ROMS
Hi,
Messchle's & Tom Condon & Dutch rom developpers seem to be on a new year pauze, as far as i know there hasn't been released any (WWE) rom yet in 2008, only some greek & french stuff.
What do you all like in new upcomming roms ? This to get some inspiration to the rom-creators and offcourse to keep our P3300 in the running.
Maybe some cam tool (msn live cannot start camming i think, would be nice with your p3300 via wifi
I have ordered a second P3300 (other one in repair shop).
It's the best pda-phone I ever had, gsm-gps-wifi-mp3-mp4, what more can they invent ?
Cheers,
Innovator
That's right. Im still longing here everyday for a latest and clean ROM this 2008. Artemis, my bets device Only if it had a 2.8" sized VGA screen like in Eten, nothing could beat it ever!
Regards,
Carty..
2008, maybe I change my phone
im with you new phone i need 3g
New Rom Requests
A Touch Keyboard "Add Word To Dictionary" that actually works
Hold "End Call" button to lock device
Yep looking for new phone here too.
Artemis has been amazing, but now I want 3g in the bundle so Maybe Kaiser or hang on for Polaris.
The Artemis has done well, I'm not sure of the value of writing anymore ROM's at the moment, what's new to add to them? Perhaps a Pointui ROM in the future.
I want to have rock stable and clean ROM based on HTC P3300 WM6 ROM with maximized free storage and program memory - no added applications or features (like touch and cube) - just a base for making my own system with free and commercial applications, customizations and personal data for backup and restore.
Best wishes for Meshle and Tom for their great work and happy new year.
I would like to see more roms but im looking for a new phone, whatever i get though i'l still keep my orbit
right varvocell
a clean wm6 rom would be nice indeed

Then you need the Vanilla ROM from Meschle. That one is stable and clean.
PointUi Rom
I agree with Gadjet, a pointui based rom would be nice with themes for pocket cm, wmp, cube, today screen ect Maybe someone with the skills (and time lol) could do a couple of versions eg : Black with cube, Blue with cube, Black without, Blue without...
About the topic
I think it's really nice to have people the create the ROMs we use but I think it would be a lot nicer to have a kitchen that enables the user to create his own individual ROM. There is a guy in a German Windows Mobile forum that created a tools that is close to that:
http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showthread.php?t=121552
http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showthread.php?t=124358 (improved version)
I think it was the pandora kitchen that made me wish that we had it too. I think in that kitchen you can select between about 100 packages which ones you want on your pda. Basically we need a kitchen and packages that work for our Artemis, then updating shouldn't be the biggest problem.
I respect the "Chefs" that cook really nice ROMs and I'm not telling them to stop their good work. But if we all had one big kitchen this would be a community again because the users could create their own packages and their own ROMs.
Once I found out how easy it is to create a package and cook your own ROM I was surprised that no one told me before. The tutorials are either overloaded or don't have enough information for the beginners to understand what the Chefs are talking about. That's why I'm going to make video tutorials in February and post them as soon as they are ready (starting in my own language).
I'd be happy if we could make this nice place a true community again where the users think about contributing. To be a good example I'll post my first tutorial within the next week.
That tool you have linked to looks awesome.....I'm into that in a big way and will give it a go when I have some time...thanks for sharing....

It's my current ROM - I agree - very stable, clean, with good battery life and plenty of free memory, but as far as I know it's not based on P3300 (and I'm not sure if Java midlet manager in this ROM could be used without any legal problems).

Have you tried the last new ROM from Meschle Vaniila 4.01? This one is even
faster than the other releases. I'm working with this one for a week now and this one is also stable and very very fast.
Artemis vs Polaris
I have tried out the Polaris a bit, and it looks almost the same as the Artemis, only faster (400 MHz) and with some minor approvements. I especially like the screenshield which follows. But, I miss the full GPS package with car kit and charger, but this is just accessories, and can be bought anywhere. I will definite buy one of those in som time......I think... Depends on the next generation of ROMs from the gurus here at XDA
Greetings from Norway, especially to Tom Codon, Meschle, Bepe, Carty and a lot of other great developers on this forum.
To all of the great chefs out there..Any possibility of someone cooking a ROM which uses the new POINTUI Home instaed of HTC Home? The new PointUI 10.2b is by far the best user interface for Windwos Mobile I have used so far. So easy, so straight forward and pretty to boot. Just and idea.
In the meantime I am learning to work with Pandora Naked and build my own but I know I am going to take a while to do so just becasue of my schedule.
You beat me to it. It's a good idea. You could try installing one of the many 'Lite' Roms out there and just installing PointUI over it. But having PointUI cooked into new Roms vs having HTC Home installed might be and easy thing to do for the many cookers out there.
that would be great. if it goes trough i'm donating all the way
My mom is interested in getting an HTC Titan model phone which will run on her Verizon network. I could help her a lot to tweak some things on it to work better for her and i am trying to advise her if that phone will be a good idea for her to buy. But what i don't know is will she be able to set up any of the nice tweaks that are out there for the hermes onto her phone? It seems like the Titan hasn't nearly the network of users that the Hermes or Kaiser has and i don't know much about which, if any, apps and tweaks will be transferrable to that (or any other) device. If not i would be concerned that she wont be able to get as much out of that phone as i am talking it up to be, like the hermes has been for me becuase it might not have nearly the apps and tweaks
..Thanks in advance for any help
in short, no... different os language not transferable. sorry..
well it depends on what type of tweaks your looking at. Most (if not all) programs are built to run off of the phones operating system i.e. WM5, WM6, WM6.1. Im pretty sure the Titan is WM6. programs like HTC home will work, spb and all thoose others as well. If it says WM5 compatible, then your good.
As long as you dont try flashing the Hermes rom on to it then it cant hurt to experiment with various cabs which if written to run on WM5 or WM6 should be ok. For example a lot of the apps that run on tytn II also run on Hermes.
Have fun!
Hi all!
Is there any official HTC WM6.1 rom for artemis ?

To my understanding all of wm 6.1 rom posted here are all official roms, they´re just not released by htc, but by our great cookers.
So choose one that suits your needs.
Cheers.
.... and most of the times these roms are ported from other devices!
which leads to the main question of them roms: are they really FULLY compatible?
- why are there various probs. like memory leakage, apss not running?
- what about the battery drain? -due to constant polling based on ported / incompatible??? radio roms from other devices.
search, and you will find a number of issues on cooked roms....
...you say this is not true?- use the orig. htc wm6 rom, and you will see the diffrence
...you say them issues dont bother you? - enjoy the rest of the rom then!
everyone to their liking!
greetz
Thank you for your reply ! I am looking for an original HTC Artemis ROM to cook one myself. I already done that on a WM6. But 'til now I cannot find an original one. That is why I am asking for a link

Don't think you'll find one - your best bet will be to try Bepe's Kitchen for Artemis, which incorporates WM6.1 ported from Kaiser.
This what I was thinking for...no WM6.1 for artemis.
the one on the HTC web site is WM6.0, I initially used that. They haven't posted 6.1 yet.
But I agree on the battery drain issue, since i'm using a cooked WM6.1 ROM, my battery drains faste
r, noticeably so. but i'm happy because my Artemis is so f-ing cool now. Beats the hell out of the iPhone!
