I SIM unlocked and CID unlocked from http://www.imei-check.com/dashunlock.php, downloaded the Bootloader update, and the HTC shipping ROM from Rapidshare, ran the bootloader update, all is well the phone goes into bootloading screen. But it would then tell me the phone is not connected via USB. ActiveSync is on prior to all this and well connected. Would it matter if I was on Windows Vista? It should still work shouldn't it?
Yup, plugged it into my buddy's XP setup and all is well. The HTC executables have some bug preventing it to finish the flash I guess.
No ... it is NOT HTC's problem ... it is VISTA's and MS crap that's preventing the user ...etc

Wow thanks! I was hoping not to find a WinXP machine everytime I needed to flash my ROM.

i managed somehow to install the 02.47.11 rom, but it seems that the os isn't starting.
is it possible, that wm 5 got lost due the upgrade?
help, please
It happened a while back when I was trying to update the radio image to latest 3.07 version and it failed saying "image corrupt". I believe my phone was again cid locked. I had done uspl unlocking a long back but I am not sure how it got re-locked.
Now when I insert a sim card into my orbit, it doesn't find the network. I trust this is as the radio image didn't update totally.
Worst of all, it fails to connect to activesync. It makes a connection as local area connection with limited connectivity. Activesync starts "troubleshooter for activesync" but to no avail. The problem isn't with activesync as activesync recognizes my other phones. Just to be sure I tried connecting it with my other computer as well and it gave the same error.
Now I am just left with the option of updating my rom using bootloader or using sd card and that too only the original rom's as I believe its CID locked again. The other rom stops updating at 3 % and the phone restarts. I tried the official o2 wm6 rom and the official o2 wm5 rom but I don't thing they have radio image as well, since the gsm problem still persists.
The activesync also still fails to connect.
Hence I trust I am left with the following:
-An orbit having O2 official wm5 rom installed with corrupted radio image.(Unable to register or find any gsm network)
-The device is cid locked
-The device not being connected by active sync.
So I am looking if anybody has a radio rom that would work on a cid locked o2 orbit(arte200). Also is there anyway to unlock cid other than activesync connection. Guys need a hand real bad... please
anybody... help
it might be time to "Kill" it, and get a warranty replacement. Fuse the main motherboard by applying power (no more than 12v) where power should not be...
that would be the last thing to do. I mean not to kill it but upgrade an o2 official rom and then take it to o2 saying the gsm radio just stopped working and getting it fixed under warranty.
but I was hoping to get a solution here from our expert cooks.
Hey, i upgraded to radio 3.42 bell but i made the mistake of letting the customizations run; what can i do to install the NFS rom now? can i still do it or do i have to downgrade?

If you are not a Bell customer. I would hard reset (Hold red and green keys down while pressing stylus in pinhole on the bottom). Then right before the customizations run put a stylus in the pinhole on the bottom to reset the phone. This will not let Bell customs run. Then flash whatever NFSFAN rom you need.
I think the horse is already out of the barn. I would run a stock rom from your carrier, then go back and flash what you want. After flashing the radio, do not "tap here". Then there is no worries about customizations.
unlocker
Hey, i got the upgrade to 3.42 but im having trouble running the unlocker. I know you have to run the unlocker when the phone is in bootloader mode but when i am in bootloader mode, i cant get a WMDC connection so i cant run the unlocker.
I am currently on Bell, and using windows vista
Thanks

When you are in Bootloader and you connect to your computer it should say USB on the bottom of the bootloader screen. Try running unlocker from there. If you already did that you might try this. Sometimes in Vista you need to make a settings change in WMDC.
In WMDC go into settings and make sure you untick "allow usb connection".
Thanks, i will try that
another question, for the htc vogue, i need to use the unlocker 2.31 right? becuase i dunt want to use the wrong one as it will brick my phone. what other precautions should i take to avoid bricking my phone
thanks

Yes 2.31 for vogue
unticking "allow usb connection" stops the device from being detected in the first place. can i run the unlocker from the home screen? and not have to put the phone in bootloader mode?
Yes you can flash from home screen. It will put it into bootloader for you.
Hey guys,
I've a desire and decided to sell it but before that, i need to unroot it. I'm willing to pay.
Anyone interested?
Are you branded and do you know what was your software version out of the box.
What do you mean by branded? I got the set from M1 though..
I can't recall the orginal version but currently it is 2.13.707.1 after rooting with unrevoked.
Okay so you are in Singapore and need an Asian RUU.
Sounds like you have rooted but have not installed a custom ROM.
Download this RUU http://www.shipped-roms.com/downloa...00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_143921_signed.exe
Turn off your phone;
Turn on your phone holding the back button;
You have now entered "fastboot";
Plug you phone via the usb cable to the PC and then start the RUU.
And thats all?? No gold card or whatever sort of complex steps to get it unrooted?
If that's the correct ROM you won't need a gold card, it'll just work. If you get any error messages then chances are you were on another ROM originally
A gold card is only needed to move to a ROM not originally on your handset, e.g. I have an x.xx.405.x Desire so can only flash x.xx.405.x RUUs without a gold card
You need a goldcard if you are branded (for example having splash screen when booting and preinstalled apps by your carrier) and flashing a ROM or an update that is different software version from what you bought your phone with in the first place.
You should be unrooted just by doing the above.
After successful rooting i didn't do anything to the phone so it should work right? What will happen if it doesn't work? Will the phone be bricked?
No, just follow the steps and you will be unrooted.
I got this when i try running the ruu
error 5001 "please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications
Does it matter on what OS i'm doing this from? I'm currently using windows 7
Run it as admin.
Right click on the RUU and choose "run as administrator" (or sort of that).
RUUs run fine in Windows 7, I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and have no issues.
Obviously can't have any other programs installing when running an RUU as it is an installer in itself
I tired running as admin but still the same error pops up. I read from somewhere that HTC sync needs to be installed for it to work?
You don't need htc sync when you are in fastboot mode.
It's possible that the RUU which is a self-extracting archive can't be extracted properly. Check if you have the whole file and it's not corrupted, be sure that you have enough space to extract it (you probably have it).
Run the RUU on a fresh restart of the windows.
If you got another windows machine at hand you can do it on it.
Thanks for the help guys!
also you might want to check out many tutorials HOW TO on this forum or youtube etc
Hi guys. My first post on here I think, but I have been lurking a while and using a couple of the ROMs on the developers forum.
My Desire has a problem where it reboots itself whenever hot. This happened on the standard ROM but has continued when using custom ones also. I've been meaning to send it back to O2 for about a month now but haven't got round to it. I thought I better get it back to standard before I return it, but that's where things started to go wrong.
Both my work PC and laptop wouldn't entertain the phone being connected. HTC Sync could not see it. Downloadd the latest version, tried restarting with only Windows services running etc. but no joy.
So I brought the phone home and connected it to my home laptop, which detects it. I downloaded the SDK and installed the Google USB drivers, all seemed good. I tried to run the HTC ROM Update Utility, but have had various problems.
I am trying to use the O2 RUU from the forums here.
The most common problem is ERROR 140:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
I'm currently running a Froyo ROM.
I have also noticed, that if I reboot the phone to the bootloader and then plug the USB cable in, it goes back to the old Android 1.0 on device manager, which it only does if connected during bootloader. This cannot be changed, no matter how many different drivers I try to update it with.
Any help here would be much appreciated. My warranty expires in May!
Was your phone o2 branded originally?

It was, yes.
You might need a goldcard even though your phone was originally o2. Also the failsafe solution is to extract the ruu zip file from the flashing utility, put it on the sd-card and let it flash it automatically.
This way you eliminate a lot of potential errors.
edit: error 140 is bootloader version error. It means your current bootloader is newer than the one in the ruu and the utility does not allow a downgrade. You will either need to find an o2 ruu with the newest bootloader or use a wwe one with a goldcard instead.
Your issue is not related to having a gold card inserted. The message is pretty clear: Your phones hboot is to new (or the RUUs is to old, if you want to put it that way). RUUs will typically not allow you to downgrade hboot. Try to find a newer RUU with a sufficient hboot version or if you are S-Off, find an older hboot and downgrade yourself via fastboot.
Regards.
Edit: sorry... haven't noticed the edit in the post above.

OK thanks guys. I don't know what a goldcard is, I'm certain I never had to use one of those when I rooted the phone with the unRevoked method.
I may have found a better O2 ROM this morning, so will give that a try and let you know.
It worked! I'm onto an O2 Froyo ROM now
