Please help, error 270

Hi All,
When i tried flashing my rom and upgrade to wm6, with uspl, i get error 270 - "The image file is corrupted. Please check your update utility".
I have O2- Xda Orbit...
Any suggestions ??

To be honest I am fairly busy right now so I just posted the links for quick reference, Are you using Vista, I will assume so because thsi is a known issue with this OS. If so

To get rid of this error try using another PC. It fixed things for me.

did you first run the uspl program from POF because i think your device is CID locked

I'm using
USPL by POF...is there a way to check if my device is cid locked ?

the most devices are cid locked. If you use this program before every rom flash your device is cid unlocked until you give your device a hard reset. Just read the manual that i had post along the USPL file

If im able...
To swap between carriers ( Orange, O2, and etc...) does it mean its unlocked ??

nope there is a sim lock and a CID lock on the device the things are not the same. Sim Lock is for your provider. CID lock is on the phone so you can't flash other roms to the device than the rom of your first provider that gave you the device.

I was also trying lots of things and suddenly it worked. Important is that when it looks like the device freezes/shuts down, that you don't reset or anything, just leave it and Just unplug the cable, reconnect and after that try the romupdate.exe again... It should work...

Can anyone tell me how do i..

stuck in new 3.03.0000 bootloader

Hi,
I tryed to upgrade to WM6 but I think I tit someting wrong, I flasht my
old WM5 back but now it is not possible to try flashing to WM6.
stuck in new 3.03.0000 bootloader.

I was success full in flashing the WM5 rom back on the device, now I am trying to install hard SPL and WM6 as describe on TRINITYGUIDES.INFO but stuck by the start.
Hard SPL will not flash I see on my Red,Green,Blue screen IPL-SSPL, SPL-1.07.ds , yes I am new with this matter an my English is not too well but please.

When I start to flash the sync. is oke but when the bootloader screen appears the flashing stops and the PDA is not connected anymore.

Try to launch again your update while you're in bootloader mode...It should work !!

I just did it but when my device is in bootloader mode there is now
connection with my notebook (VISTA) anymore. When I restart my
PDA the connection is established.

there is a wiki guide to flashing under vista..
please note, that when you start the updater, and your device goes in to bootloader, it times out. So connection is lost. Simply start the update again, with device still connected in bootloader

Yes I did already as you describe the result is still no connection (error).

hmm... i think you're gonna have to use Pof's splxploit to load hard-spl and then flash another ROM from there.

It's a question of whether SPL 3.03 is exploitable in the same way...

you need to use the active sync after you load wm5 ... that's the trick..

I have allways start the update twice, Once where the device starts in this 3-Colors boot screen and a second time to start the Flashing process.
Do not tuch the device Just clos update application on Windows PC and restart it and go through the question process until it starts to flash

On this moment nothing, I did something wrong by flashing the first time
and now I am stuck in SPL 3.03. I think the best what I can do is waiting for
the official rom from HTC.

My HERM Is Running Without Radio (GSM)?!

PLZ help me, while trying to upgrade my HERM I lost the Radio, there is a message (No GSM) appearing during the boot.
I've tried many unofficial ROMs, but still getting the same message!!!
And when I tried to use the official ROM, the upgrade stopped on 11%!!??
To solve the hangup problem, I used unofficial ROM again, and after the upgrade I found the same GSM problem again.

What "official" ROM? You've given absolutely NO info regarding anything friend...
Myself, I'd click the green link in my signature... but that's me

My problem is clear, there is No GSM in my HERM, I've tried WM 5, WM 6 and WM 6.1, but no way, I couldn't success??!!

Yes your problem is clear, you have no GSM. I don't know where you hail from, which exact PDA you have, your provider, what ROM you last used before this happened, etc..

Device: at&t 8525
ROM: Original WM5 ROM, and while trying to upgrade it my device hanged up on the colored screen. To fix that, I've installed schap's 4.31 WM6 ROM using the MicroSD Card (HERMIMG). Now the device can boot but with No GSM at all (even there's no information about the GSM under Device Info).
The device now can accept any modified ROM (like schap's, faria, etc...) but unable to accept the official (original) ROMs. When I try to install any official ROM the upgrade process will stack on 11% every time.
So, the device still having no GSM.

Most roms on her DO NOT come with a radio included. Usually only the manufacturer roms do.
There are 2 things you need to do:
- Consult the MrVanx guides which will help you understand what you are doing (google search for this).
- go to the wiki in this forum and search for a radio rom to upload.
In summary, reflash, say, Scahps rom then flash a radio rom from the wiki (I suggest radio 1.47, which is pretty reliable).

Ahhh, a little info.
First download the official AT&T 3.62 ROM which includes the 1.54.07.00 radio.
Reboot the pc with the PDA disconnected.
(Oh, make sure that you have ActiveSync 4.5 insttalled of course)
Put the device into bootloader mode (hold power and OK button while pressing reset with stylus, nice tri color screen will appear)
Connect the PDA to the USB cable and run the RUU_Inside.exe file.
wacky.banana is correct, most chef's don't include a radio. You've got a corrupted ROM (due to the incomplete flash) The RUU_Inside.exe will typically talk directly to the hardware when nothing else can and fix. I've personally recovered around 10 or so 8525's that I've "bricked" with bad flashes and then repaired with this method.
I can't guarantee that this will work but it IS your best shot friend.

I've done as you mentioned, but the upgrade process stopped on 11% again and couldn't complete!!?? (the message ERROR [262]: UPDATE ERROR appeared on my P.C)!!??

I can't remeber what error 262 is about; however is your device unlocked? If it is not then you need to address that issue first (its in the wiki)
Secondly have you installed hard spl to your device BEFORE attempting to upgrade your rom? If the answer to this question is no then that will confirm that you have not read up on this before jumping in, which is hugely dangerous.

Stuck.... completely stuck
My fiances phone is stuck in the tri color bootloader screen. I am in the US and i have tried everything from flashing the original RUU to a hard reset and everthing, but nothing seems to work. the IPL is 4. 10. 0002 and the SPL is 4. 10. 0000. Can someone please help me. I know there has to be a way to fix this.

I had the same problem. After trying to fix it myself for about a week I gave up and sent it to AT&T Repair center. Got it back functional.
I haven't tried the Himalaya ROM method, though.

The problem happened when I tried to unlock the device to upgrade it (it was fine befor), I don't know whether it was already locked or not, but usualy when I buy any Pocket P.C I'm preparing to unlock it first (I've done that many times on HERMES before, but this is the first time I'm facing such problem!!). So, while unlocking the device it's stucked on the tri color screen.
I've done many things after that to solve the problem (updating the hard SPL to v2.10 successfully, flashing many ROMs -not including Radio- successfully).
So, I can flash any ROM now but it must be without Radio, otherwise the flashing process will stuck on 11%.

Unfortunately, but that's also didn't help, because the main problem now is how to install the Radio on the device??!!
The device is not accepting the Radio installation at all, NO WAY....

whenever i try to Upgrade to this New ROM, i get an error messege, "Upgrade ROM Code Error", just after it reached to 100% of the upgrade... the Diamond enter to boot loader and stay there.
i tried and installed a previous ROM Version, and it successes with no problem.
i even tried replacing the HardSPL, now with OliNex Unsigned.
any idea ?

I've read all posts on the issue because it seems to be a common one , here's the story, I received this phone from a friend already bricked , what happens wen I try turnin it on it just stuck in booting
I can't hard reset
I can't flash, I either get invalid vendor I'd or model Id. Or curropt file ,
I already kno its not cid unlocked and apparently no form of unlocking was done to it ,
But in its current state what can be done , because I've tried everything already within my knowledge
One other issue is I don't kno what is the stock rom for it so I can't flash without getting invalid vendor I'd , it unbranded and just says htc ,

all i can think of is download the htc ROM (in the official roms sticky)since its an unbranded phone and hold camera while powering on and flash. sorry I cant be much help in this area, just and idea I dont know if you tried it yet.

I did try all htc roms and it says invalid vendor I'd or incorrect model

i have the same problem when flash to energy rom, it just stucks at booting screen and i cant do nothing about it, i cant connect to usb, what should i do ???

Did you CID unlocked your device before? If so, try an original rom from the sticky posted in the first page.

it wasnt
but its offficial now i tried all the roms there
none works

Then CID unlock it now. . .That's the problem for why you cant use any other ROMs.

My recommendation is that you contact your carrier and see if they can flash it to an original rom. HTC also can provide you a solution and hopefuly they can give you the original rom of your excalibur.

It's not a dead case, if you can get it to bootloader your S621 is not dead try again to flash in different PC's and see what happens. See this thread it may be helpful http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534725 because it definitely gives you hope.

Try this:
* Shut Down the device
* hold down the camera button located to the right of the space bar for like 10 seconds,
* while still holding it down plug the USB in and you should see the menu come up with three colors.
* This is where you load your original ROM and can connect with ur PC .......
* perform Install the OLD ROM (After Installation page seems to be stuckon T-Mobile Logo but give it 1-2 Minuts and it will switch to Cold Boot Device configuration)
* make sure @ll is ok : then Reboot
* Install the Updated one from NRG
