I have never seen anyone ask this on any of the many posts I have read and I would like to know if their is a registry tweak or some other way to make the X button bigger? It is near impossible for large fingers to hit it and this would make it easier to use without having to get the stylus out.
I would agree with you on that one. Making one-hand use easier.
Hopefully someone has a solution...
It is not a solution but ...
you can use one of the 2 "ok" hardware buttons the phone has.
The one in the left side is the one I use the most, and once you get use to the buttons and the jog wheel, will find they are very helpfull in the one hand operation of the PDA part of the device.
Hope it can help untill someone post or find a way to get what you are looking for...

Great suggestion!!!

Thanks
I have to admit, I don't remember about using the buttons and should get use to having them and their functions. Thanks for the tip about the two ok buttons.
But ok button donĀ“t close programs, only minimize...
I use SPB Pocket Plus 3.2. You can assign a hardware button acting as a close button.

Try this app called 'Magic Button' (freeware) at the link below, you can map it to an application button, it only has a 71kb footprint and therefore it will not use much valuable space on your devices memory. I have not tried it on WM6 but see no reason why it should not work.

yes indeed magic button rawks.
Magic Button made the X bigger!
Installed this app and it's great. Currently on WM5 at the moment so can't say if it's WM6 compatable or not until I change back to a 6 rom.

Agreed. Tapping with my index finger never works, but I AM able to hit the X button if I use my thumb with the fingerprinty side of my thumb facing out and away at an angle of about 45 degrees from 12:00 position.
I just place my finger in that position and then press down; my fingernail hits the X button spot on.
Hi,
Since SPB Pocket Plus is not really working with the Shadow, I decided to reflash from scratch and not to use it anymore. I got everything I need from other apps, exept for one very important function.
SPB Pocket Plus has a [Close] function that you can map to a button and it actually closes the app not just sends it in the background. I use the HTC task manager to do that on the screen, but I want to map it to a button button 5 to be exact I been searching for few hours now to no avail.
Basicly to review I need to be able to close (really close) apps with a hardware button (button 5). Please help. THank you.

It is bit slow the 1st time to bring up the start menu after a SR, after that seems ok.
@yozh
I mean Wisbar Lite, not Wizbar Advanced/desktop. you can't run that iphone theme with wisbar lite.
Another option (to map the CLOSE function) is AEB plus.
mortscript is a little too heavy for me

Is it just me, or am I the only one who has the actual '<close>' option in buttons in my Start>settings>buttons option? Has anyone looked?
That is what I use so I have it mapped to the usual CommManager wasted button since if you want CommManager you can simply keep the silly thing in your bar at the bottom.

Hi vijay555,
Can I use your app to really close running programs by using the hardware-Ok-Button??
hi..
is there anywhere i can downld htc task manager v1.51..the new version?..i`ve been looking all over but there`s only version 1.5 is available..
thanks in advance..
Along the bottom of the phone there's a home button and an endcall which, within programmes, seem to do the same thing - take you back to the today screen. Or, in my case the 6.5 CHome thingy. And the back button in most apps takes you to the home screen too - so that's three buttons largely doing the same thing most of the time.
The new phones with 6.5 preinstalled will have a windows-flag start menu button, I assume this will open up the new hexagony start menu.
Is there a way of remapping the home button so it launches the start menu instead?
That is EXACTLY what I have been thinking for the last days. Pressing Home-key should naturally bring up the start-menu.
Nice idea, even because reaching the top left corner with your right thumb(maybe for left handed it's easier ) while holding the HD with the right hand is a little bit tricky
I'd like something small to do this but I have a feeling most people will return with the suggestion "use aebplus to remap"
I have the same feeling wiggz, There must be a registry key or something that can be changed and put into cab format? Anyone got any ideas?

so as the home button is coded into manila it mean's one has to play with the manila files and remap to start menu all that would mean is to change some scripts!!
bottomline Home button in theory can be mapped to the start menu!! so it's plausible!!!
i'm going to watch this thread as well --- i've been looking for this since I got hold of my HD. I've already remapped the "back" button to S2U2 via AEB since you are correct, essentially the home, back, and end buttons all work very similarly.
Hoping that someone posts a solution to this!
i have the solution...install this program and you can change all the hard keys to do almost any function...i have mine set up to do the exact same thing that you want it to do!!
cheers!!

Thanks, but could give more informations to remap keys, please ? The list is empty when i launch the application ...
Same here. I was so happy when I found this thread..
When I tried installing that, it did not work... Maybe it was my ROM.
There are REG keys that remap home in certain cituations, i.e. manilla but I have yet to find a way to get the reg key to do anything else.
The new keypad.dll maps it to a normal vk_lwin, so you can remap it as you like.
Unfortunately I have not yet seen it an any ROM.

It is for Diamond and the author says here post 10 "For the touch HD, maybe you should download HTCAPI.DLL somewhere, put it in /Windows and try again". Haven't read the whole thread though so not sure if this is what the problem is.
i know its a little confusing to get it started...so heres what you do...install cab, go to program files\dredsensor and click on dredsensor.exe and a config.ini will appear...now close out whatever app you are using to view files...and open dredsensor...now you will see default under name...tap default and then click menu, then edit...change type to launcher...then go to click and tap the gray box next to the home key...go to events and chose Misc:Start, hit select, hit ok to comfirm, change whatever others you want to...then hit save, then hit ok to confirm...then hit exit...then you should be good to go...hope this helps!!

AT&T, in their typical way, pre-loaded the Tilt2 with tons of garbage bloatware. Free RAM is patheticly low, as is the roughly 100MB of storage space....
Is it possible to go about deleting stuff thats pre-installed, or is that going to require flashing a custom ROM?
Are there any ROM's available yet which keep all the critical components but remove all the garbage stuff so a user can choose to reinstall only what he wants via cab?
I sympathize with you on that. I couldn't take not being able to have more than 2 programs open without the task manager killing them. I ended up flashing to the latest NRG rom. The 2 tab opera limit was insane too.
I must say that the frustrations with doing this now include some keyboard functionality lost and the loss of the good ATT software. For instance, I can't download the ATT WiFi Hotspot software because I lost my ATT Media Mall.
Are you by chance able to post your opera proxy settings. I can try and grab the cab once I have these settings and share it with the forum.
Easiest way is to find opera.config or opera.ini and see if the settings are in there and copy to the forum. Also found if you type in opera:config in your address bar and look under proxy.
Got these settings from a FUZE forum post:
[Proxy]
Use Proxy On Local Names Check=1
HTTP Server=wireless.cingular.com
HTTPS server=wireless.cingular.com
Use HTTP=1
Use HTTPS=1
Enable HTTP 1.1 for proxy=1
Seems to have done the trick. I'll upload the ATT Wifi Cab tonight when I'm home.
Yea, I've also gone to the NRG ROM.... SO MUCH faster and so much more free RAM & ROM its insane.
its a real shame ATT loads so much junk on the phone. I know all carriers love to do that, but it just seems like the Tilt2 is particularly polluted with crapware.
Anyhow, now I'm happy...
I sure miss AT&T
Just got my TP2 a few days ago and loaded the NRG Photon rom yesterday... Soo much faster than the AT&T rom... I did forget about the AT&T Wifi software though... There anyway to get that software back? Anyone have the cabs? Just fyi, there's an AT&T Keyboard fix cab out there now, just doesn't map the OK button...

had to jump through some hoops to get it downloaded, I attached the cab in this post;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4748989&postcount=6
I have installed it, but haven't actually tried it out yet at a hotspot.
For you folks that installed the NRG rom: Did you find a keyboard .cab for the Tilt2 that is 100%?
The existing keyboard cab fixes 98% of the issue.
The two buttons that dont map correctly are
1) OK button on the keyboard
2) PTT buton (below the volume on the side)
Both can be fixed by using Keyboard Config controller (do a search). I've been able to remap the PPT button, just waiting on someone to explain what to map the OK button to.
So ya, its a 2-step process but it can be 100% correctly functioning with the NRG or any other custom rom
I will be getting Tilt 2 & selling in Dec 1st week
Anyone who Dont want to Pay Full price can buy from me for Cheaper
Cos I will be buying HD 2
If anyone Interested

I remember reading somewhere else that people were mapping the OK button to some command like "Go Back" which some felt was the closest approximation to the OK button. As for the PTT button, a lot of people (including myself on the stock ROM) have mapped to the camera.

I mapped my PTT to screen rotate.
I'm finding that even with the latest cab, you still have to remap your bottom row function shortcuts. However, the biggest bother is that on the unlock screen and certain other applications, the top row is still read as the default TP2 number row. Perhaps we're still missing some settings.

OK, either I'm blind or I did something, 'cause now the option is there.
i found a solution for the "ok" key..
you map the "ok" key first for anything on the Keyboard control/config program, update config, then uncheck the box and update again...
THEN, download AEB button Plus and install that, press add new key, press the ok key, and map that to "ok/close"... soft reset, and you're good to go, just dont mess with "ok" button on keyboard control program and you're good to go...
i also mapped long press on the "ok" key to open notes,

You can try the Rhodium Key Remapper, details on THIS thread
It claims to be able to remap ANY hardware key on a Rhodium to just about any function you could imagine...but I don't have a Tilt2 to test out the PTT button to confirm. You're welcome to give it a shot though!

OK, so I just had a bit of a play around with the Rhodium Keyboard Controller, and indeed you can configure a key to perform a specific action depending on the application running at the time (or at least that's my interpretation of it).
While I was able to get the config to the point of "OK, the camera is running, what do you want the PTT button to do?", but could not figure out how to specify the "take a picture" action.

the action is simply 'ok' or enter. I haven't tried the app but on a Fuze the center of the dpad is essentially the enter key and that will trigger a photo to be taken
I've used the remapper and my PPT opens the camera and takes pictures
It works fine, just try it out. The problem is that the key is on the bottom of the phone when held like it is supposed to be and it also does not have the semi-click focus ability (though when you click it it will focus and then take the shot, though that takes a long time)

For the key remapping, I've had success mapping it to "Enter" (couldn't find "OK" in the list of keys to map to). Attached is a snap of the configuration with the Rhodium keyboard controller.

Yes, that's true. What might be possible is to map the focus to a short press of the key, and the "snap" to a short press. I'm too lazy to figure out how.

By 'remapper' do you mean the Rhodium Keyboard Controller, or something else? I'd like this too, touching the screen to take a picture is moronic.
Duh, why didn't I try that before! Sure enough, set the PTT to be Camera in AEButtonPlus and it sure does take the picture too! Awesome.

I probably don't understand what you're asking for... but I do have assigned my PTT Button to Camera (form settings, personal, buttons, scroll to Camera - on stock ATT ROM) and I do take pictures within the camera program just by pressing the PTT button. If I misunderstood your post, disregard...
They are talking about this cab
It is a little program to allow you to remap the hardware keys. You can even program functions or programs to double and tripple clicks as well. Don't be scared to install software, especially something this small. And if you are a OCD patient, then purchase Sprite Backup.
Now to answer the posters question: You have to have the camera running first to take a picture. If you want you could set camera start for a double PTT click and assign take picture to a single PTT press. Use attached program to accomplish this easily.

Yes I used the Rhodium Keyboard Controller to set up my PTT to use the camera it was pretty simple
From what I've read - as of 4 or so weeks ago - due to new camera updates... the standard remap to capture is no longer working...
if u can find energyrom may 1st version rhodiumkeymapper will work anything newer and it wont work as camera "shoot" button because of the new camera package but the speed increase is incredible..im running the latest n greatest june version of energy now.
Any Idea where I might roll back ROM... I think I'm pushing the ROM envelope... my tilt2 is zippy but bugging out on me...
Worked on reg settings for a while trying to fix capture issue... got it to work (even tried combo with mute button) but rebooted and haven't been able to reproduce. My theory was "if I could eliminate the delay focus could just get it to capture. No dice.
correct me if im wrong but i tried high n low to make my ptt button "shoot" but no dice.. ever since i flashed an energy rom newer than may 1st. its to do with the camera package that energy replaced i believe its topaz camera now on june 19th version.
Try this solution?

Install the keyboard controller for the rhodium, choose to add a key, press the PTT key "if you already have it mapped to something, don't worry. I also have apps mapped to the same button". When in the map config, click the [+] next to Rule. pull out the stylus, click the windows button, go to your camera, and stick the stylus back in. Below "Rule name" the window should say "IACSP20_Main" without the quotes. Choose "Direct key mapping", then select key "13 Enter" for the key. Finally send the key to the operating system.
What this does is: while you're in the camera window and push the PTT key, that key is pushing the enter key. It acts the same as the onscreen shutter button, as in, you have to hold the button. Good luck with your mapping.
Click to collapse
I haven't tried it yet, but it seems to be the answer you are looking for. Hope it helps.
Edit: I tried it and it works for me I also followed these directions to remap the volume up and down to do the same thing (they didn't do anything in camera mode anyway) and I like using them better. It has also helped with the quality of photos because I can hold the camera more still Yeah!
What version of the Rom... I tried something like this it didn't work - newer than May 1st... no work that's why...
