How do you remove the shortcuts from the bottom bar of the today screen (web'n'walk, Call history, SIM manager, File explorer)?
Regards, Hollinshead.
maybe this helps...

I've tried that and it removes the whole bottom bar?
I just want to remove the shortcuts from the bar, but leave the battery icon etc.

Hollinshead.

Hi,
I thought it's launched by some program in StartUp folder but I deleted "Launcher" out of it but I still see that bar on bottom of my screen (with CommManager icon). How can I delete it? I cooked my ROM using Pandora's kitchen.
Thanks,
G

Try "dciNoBar" you can find here or just google it, it's an exe file just copy to startup folder in windows and SR and no more bottom bar. Hope this helps.
An application call wisbar is very good and helps in customizing as well
use schaps advanced config tool and disable the wireless icon.

I need to disable tray bar not bottom Bar. How do I do that. The bar I'm talking about is on bottom part of a screen on top of bar which shows functions for keys (contacts and calendar). How do I remove it?

i have been searching for a solution a while ago for the same problem: disabling the tray bar. the tray bar becomes visible one one app makes use of it.
all the different solutions i have found made my device instable or made the device react in a strange way.
my workaround is to avoid icons in the tray bar. the tray bar is still there but invisible as long as no other icon appears.
i konw of three icons which you can rid of:
- comm manager (use schaps advanced config tool)
- battery (dito)
- vibrate button (delete the lnk-file of the stratup folder and replace the app with "vibra switch")

I had no idea it's so difficult to get rid of that bar. It was not like that on my Wizard, I only deleted single StartUp executable and never saw bar again. Anybody has any suggestion how to permamently delete that bar?
yea i came from a wizard too it was easy but i only had those two in the bar anyways so for screen cap and all that idunno its probably the app check the settings but other than that i dunno
Remove task bar and icon
You can use Advanced Configuration Tool.
With this utility you can edit a lot of settings.
When you launch the program on Apparence tab remove the flags
on battery icon and wireless save and exit.
Make a soft-reset. The task bar is only show when you connect the device with usb cable or bluetooth active sync.
I hope to have been usefully to you
Possible Solution
Search for 'Clear Today Screen' cab. (I think it is in the Pandora 6 Naked thread) Note that to uninstall you will have to first delete the VijayToggle link in Startup, soft reset, then delete the program in Programs folder.
How do I get this. All I want from this picture is the bottom toolbar to be black, Top to be the background with the 3D battery and reception. Thanks

3rd post, 2nd and third pictures.
the bottom tool bar he has is from a program called smartToolkit (goole it or search here in the fourm)
2nd, the 3d stuff on top usually comes in the redone roms that ricky made.. there is a way to add it by placing the files in the windows folder i think. but not sure...if u installed one of rickys roms, then u just need to change ur home screen to "media top bar" theme.
hope this helps

Give these two things a try NRG Rinku will add the bar at the top and smartToolkit adds the bottom bar. As for the black aspect in the setting window go to system base hue and adjust it to anything you would like (if you hit the right soft key you can select grey scale).

It says the layout you have selected cannot be loaded. please select a different layout using the homescreen item in settings, When i installed the nrg rinku. And where is system base hue?...And now that i have installed smartToolkit my wifi doesnt work. Anyone have AIM that could help me. I have a lot of questions : /
when i install the NRG Rinku.cab it doesn't change the top icon bar to the color version i've seen. do i need to edit something in the registry or something?

Sure,

Both curtains removed

Thanks. its cool
Just for info, I changed back to the default background to make it clear what the differences would be.
The default background is just too ugly
H.
Anybody manage to remove the bottom curtains? I just realise its not possible. When I tried to run the cab, it says its already installed and ask to remove it. When I selected yes, it gives an error that it cannot be removed and ask to proceed with install. I tried many times even with TF3D turned off and device restarted.
here we go. removed both curtains ...
THX
t h a n k s !!!
cool trick. anyway, if you're like me & want both in 1 cab, i did it for you. yay!
background of slide icon
is there a way to remove the background (grey square) behind the slider icons? i have removed both curtains, but would also like to be able to remove the square box behind icon.
thanks
never mind found it. looks great with no curtains and transparent slider.

No, these are changes the the Manila files, not registry edits.
For cabs with registry edits i just use WinCE CAB Manager & include what ever registry I want in the cab file
@ xnifex, great thanks for the info

can you tell me how i can go back to having the curtain, i cant uninstall it via the usual way...
I installed this cab and now top and bottom curtains are removed on home screen ... BUT,
if I slide to another tab, [Stocks] for example, and release it, then the curtain re-appears. If i then re-grab the slider, the bottom curtain is still visable until I release it on the home screen. This is also true for sub-menu tabs. For example if I select a contact and slide over [Details] [Messages] etc.
*I just noticed that if i slide to Photos and Videos tab and re-grab, the curtain stays transparent.
I'm also interested in having the same wallpaper/background for all tabs. It is currently a grey gradient background. I checked out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521162 but I ran into the same problems most of the other posters. (I have Sprint TP2)
EDIT** SOLVED!! southphillysean posted "BG for All Pages WVGA.cab" on the linked thread above. This solves BOTH of the above issues to my satisfaction, but had to change clock and delete carrier logo to make it look right. (make sure cabs are installed in proprer order with TF3D off.)
Also, the pop up icon screen that you see when sliding across tabs has a shaded background. When I slide (from the home screen) it looks weird cuz the only unshaded part is the the bottom curtain. Any way to make the pop up icon screen background transparent?
Still looking for a way to tweak tab background shading.
Any thoughts?
Here are some screenshots with notes to show the curtain problem.

Ahhh; sorry mate; didnt explain clear enough. Got a customized theme; and because of this the icons are according to the theme; but if I change the SMS icon with the Go SMS; then I loose the customized icons.....
But thanx for the tip though :=)
Ahh OK. So to keep the icons the same change the shortcut link different I suppose another option, rather than change the shortcut link, would be to change the icon/shortcut and then change its icon to the your theme.
I have no idea which is easier and how to do it unfortunately so just putting it out there in case it helps. I guess for both these things you may need to root your phone and get a more powerful file browser.
