Mates,
KE2 with OC KDD kernel; TW4.
How do I change the default apps by pressing Contacts or SMS?
I want to use 3rd party Contacts and SMS app; but still want to use TW4...
Open applications menu. Click menu button and choose edit. For message program change: Drag message icon out into the application area. The drag gosms onto the apps/icons bar. Hope this is clear.

Ahhh; sorry mate; didnt explain clear enough. Got a customized theme; and because of this the icons are according to the theme; but if I change the SMS icon with the Go SMS; then I loose the customized icons.....
But thanx for the tip though :=)
Ahh OK. So to keep the icons the same change the shortcut link different I suppose another option, rather than change the shortcut link, would be to change the icon/shortcut and then change its icon to the your theme.
I have no idea which is easier and how to do it unfortunately so just putting it out there in case it helps. I guess for both these things you may need to root your phone and get a more powerful file browser.

How do I get this. All I want from this picture is the bottom toolbar to be black, Top to be the background with the 3D battery and reception. Thanks

3rd post, 2nd and third pictures.
the bottom tool bar he has is from a program called smartToolkit (goole it or search here in the fourm)
2nd, the 3d stuff on top usually comes in the redone roms that ricky made.. there is a way to add it by placing the files in the windows folder i think. but not sure...if u installed one of rickys roms, then u just need to change ur home screen to "media top bar" theme.
hope this helps

Give these two things a try NRG Rinku will add the bar at the top and smartToolkit adds the bottom bar. As for the black aspect in the setting window go to system base hue and adjust it to anything you would like (if you hit the right soft key you can select grey scale).

And where is system base hue?...And now that i have installed smartToolkit my wifi doesnt work. Anyone have AIM that could help me. I have a lot of questions : /
when i install the NRG Rinku.cab it doesn't change the top icon bar to the color version i've seen. do i need to edit something in the registry or something?

I don't think there's a way to display the homescreen paper on your apps page, start menu, messages, settings, etc, etc. There is a way to change the background picks for them though. You have to replace some files on the windows directory. There are also some reg. mods that you can do also. Here's the thread. thanx for the quik answer
Hey people, I was just wondering if there is an app that allows you to rearrange the order of the icons in the wm6.5 start menu? I've tried JWMDIconChanger but it seems to be missing several icons from the start menu.
JSPA Program Manager should do the trick

Looks like it only allows you to configure what shortcuts appear where, but not the actual order they appear in on the page.
Try restart. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=481379

I just used the "move to top" feature...and started in reverse order that I wanted the programs, so the one I started with is at the bottom of the screen, and the one I finished with is at the top. It orders them left ---> to right, in the honeycomb/staggered fashion when doing this method....seamed simple enough...without using more memory.
I installed JWMDIcon Changer program. It does indeed allow you to change the order of the icons in the Start page and within any folders. It does a lot of other things, but this is the only thing I wanted it for. The only pain is that you have to soft reset after every change, so if you move things and don't like it, you have to redo it and SR. Loving my new icon arrangement.

For missing icons, choose Menu>Tools>Scan unregistered shortcuts

Cheers for the help everyone. I didnt realise you could scan for the missing shortcuts
I prefer to use Handcent instead of the default sms software. I tryed the following to replace the default sms icon in touchwiz, but unfortunately the Handcent icon appears only for a few seconds after boot then disappears... any ideas why?!
Opened in SQLite Editor App
/data/data/com.sec.android.app.twlauncher/databases/launcher.db
opened table menu_item
modified row with page_number=-1 and cell_number=2
putting in component_name:
com.handcent.nextsms/com.handcent.sms.ui.ConversationExList
overwriting the default value:
com.android.mms/com.android.mms.ui.ConversationComposer
LOL Open the app drawer and select the main menu and then edit. You can drag whatever shortcut you like over any of the default applications in the lower three (plus app drawer) icons that are stationary and the old shortcut and icon are then replaced with the new shortcut of your choice.
Ops... feeling dumb now too many hours tweaking and I can't see the easy things! I nead a break Thanks
No worries, you can screw around with these things quite a bit and still miss some things.
Personal taste, but ditch Handcent for Go SMS Pro.
I tried searching the forums to see if my question was already answered on this, but I couldn't find any that directly answered me, so here goes:
How does one go about changing what shorctus are in the bottom bar; where there are the 4 seemingly permanent shorcuts (Phone, Contacts, Messaging and Applications)? (or is this at all possible?)
Specifically, I'd love to be able to change the "Messaging" shortcut to be Handcent, my texting app of choice.
Thanks in advance!
Open Applications.
Hit Menu Key (bottom left).
Select Edit.
Drag stuff on and off of the launcher bar at the bottom.
Or get alot more fun options by installing a different launcher, I love GoLauncher.
That did it. Thanks so much for the reply! +Thanks for you!
