Hey folks!
Maybe anyone can help me out here! :?
I am looking for a contribution, where someone talked about getting 10mb more RAM/storage on the xda ecex. There was a story about using the storage to install programs and to safe the holy ram on that device. It is becoming really slow and that even pretty quick, when there is a bit of RAM in use?
:?: Any idea - would be very happy - thanks :?:

Hi folks,
I was interested in upgrading to WM5.0 from WM2003 on my SPV M2000 (=XDA 2???I'm told it's a blue angel...). However since I've come here i've got the impression that it could be riddled with problems. I'm a total n00b and I've been overwhelmed with different ROM versions and fixes....I wondered if you folks could help me a bit.
Is it worthwhile to upgrade? What has your experience been?
Will old WM2003 programs work on WM5.0 (I have loads of them)
Are there any bugs I should know about or will everything run smooth?
What are the disadvantages?
How do I go about upgrading? I upgraded my ROM once before using an update released by Orange. But the .exe file did it all for me. All I had to do was connect the device via the cradle and click next (pretty much).
Cheers folks! Much appreciated.

PS - is this the correct forum? (I'm guessing SPVM2000 is a hymalaya)
PPS - sorry if some of these questions have come up before. I'm sure a few of them must - I checked as best I could but I'm a total n00b and I'm dyslexic which doesn't make post plodding easy.
Thanks again!
help please! Some of you guys must have some ideas or thoughts that might help me!
Like you I also have an SPV M2000 (yes it is also known as the Blue Angel), and I am still running WM2003, I have done a few ROM upgrades etc so have a very basic understanding but even so am still holding back on upgrading to WM5, my main reason is that my phone is for work, and so need it to be reliable. saying that it sounds like that they have done some fantastic work porting WM5 onto the Blue Angel and one day I look forward to running it (which may be very soon).
Sounds like to me though before making your decision you should read this..

And this

And I REALLY hope you have read the Wiki page which is here...

As with any upgrade there is a chance you will turn your device into a brick, so you need to read thorugh all the previous posts, there is a search tool to allow you to search the forum (USE IT!), I am sure people here would love to help you but have a bit of respect and search the forum first, I expect every question you could think of has been answered before.
Somewhere there is a list of software that has been tested on WM5, cant be bothered to search for it, but I have seen a post on the forum somewhere!
EDIT:
Sorry didn't read the bottom part of you post, that will teach me!! Hope the links I have given you get you started though!!!
Dont bother with WM2005 yet. I tried it a month ago and found little glitches. Overall it was good, but eyecandy doesnt justify the upgrade. Speedwise it's the same.
Also, there's still not as many WM5 programs, as there are for WM2003. Old progs may have issues with WM5. For me that's reason enough to stick with WM2003, since I need stability.
If you hard reset your phone, install only progs that you really need AND use, you'll be amazed how quick and stable it'll be. Yes, BT and WiFi are flaky, but that happens right across the board on all OSes/ROMs.
PS. Avoid any crap that goes onto Today screen.

I agree! It's just to damn buggy.
What about a forum for the ipaq hx4700? I know that this website is for HTC PDAs but, the hx4700 was also called the Roadster in some markets and made by HTC. Considering that there's a thread over in the upgrading section with 595,000 views and almost 2000 posts on the hx4700 (and that's just one thread) I think there would be a strong interest in a dedicated forum. Many of the posts are from newbies and not by developers but we do have Kozhura and Menneisyys and many other dev types who have posted quite alot about this device in the past, with Kozhura now on his 4th version of WM6. There seems to be a big following for this device even now with a kitchen having been adapted by vivi to suit it. It would be great to have our own corner somewhere on this wonderful site for our community.
Thank you for the consideration.

Yes, sounds a very good idea
Dirk
Great idea!
Based on what I was able to see this had a 2003 rom and came out in 2004.
We have added a lot of forums for the new devices and I am not sure if there will be enough users to justify a section a few years late.

That is true, however HP did do a (poor) WM5 upgrade and there are at least two unofficial WM6 ROMs. The hx4700 was ahead of its time and still powerful compared to many on the market today; probably because it doesn't have an inbuilt phone.
There is this thread which is nearly up to 2,000 posts; many of the smart phone forums on XDA developers have nowhere near as many posts in total.
If there was a forum just for the hx4700, then maybe that would entice other hx4700 owners to join up to talk things other than just the ROMs.
I bet there are a few super users that would be happy to moderate a dedicated kx4700 forum too?
You guys don't give up do you ?
OK I admit you do have a valid point. I will put it forward to the sysadmin for a section under
Other HTC manufactured phones
Thank you
Thanks again for the consideration. It is an old device but I think there's quite a bit of interest in it.

Yes, you should really make new forum for magnificent hp iPAQ hx4700 (HTC Roadster).
Support the idea.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
THANKS
thank u for the reviwe
maybe late but still great...i have a bit of roblem with screen, but the rest is ok...and it really was ahead of it's time
I'm also interested in this. I think it would fuel discussing on the hx4700
Hi, on my hx4700 (alkor wm6.1) when I paired my bluetooth audiphones, it`s fine, just if it is like new, no progrmas, but whe I charge some progrmas, I can`t connect the devices, there are no way to use it.
Just when the ipaq is just hard reseted. Anybody know what happen?
Thinking about how much snappier the Kaiser is in operation than the Diamond despite a slower CPU I was wondering if the Diamond could be made to run QVGA to lessen the load on the hardware.
Personally I think VGA is overkill on such a tiny screen and would be happy with QVGA.
Does such a thing exist? could I use a ROM from a different device?
bump........
No.
The phone is designed to run in VGA mode. It is a VGA phone regardless of what ROM you use.
Thanks for the reply. Looks like the bin for the Diamond then after only 3 weeks of ownership...
exactly, how much snappier is it?
not sure about this one...
what are you talking about I had Kaiser with all newest ROMs in those days and wasnt snapier so pls be so kind and dont write stupid threads...rather buy HTC touch 3G or Jade...kaiser is sh*t...

It's cos it's not hard to be a senior member, just gotta post more crap, ask more stupid questions (which is the best rom, what's the best radio, how do I do this etc) and you become senior very quickly
I post loads of crap, but am yet to be called Senior... One day though...
Try running a Lite or Clean ROM (one without TF3D) the phone suddenly becomes a beast
Or throw it away... like I care ...

Wait till you get over 100 posts, then you'll be 'senior'.
I dont know guys what answer you expected...QVGA ROM for VGA device???for snapier use??? Cmon there are a lot of nonsense threads like this so dont blame me...try to ask how to make diamond snapier it would be a lot of better... and finaly I dont feel like senior member so MOD pls change my status to junior sorry guys but this threads goes to nowhere and since diamond has been announced there are a lot of threads about slow diamond etc...so think about it
Play nice guys
and NO!! Diamond is designed to carry VGA screen and VGA ROMs, softwares, etc. etc. QVGA ROMs cannot be run on Diamond. Never designed and never shall be cooked. Frankly doesnt make sense to buy costly VGA device and run QVGA ROMs on it instead buying cheaper QVGA devices in 1st place
Thread closed & shall be trashed soon!!
hey everyone, im just stopping by since im starting to pull towards the TP2 after watching several review videos on it, but anyways im here to ask a couple questions about the touch pro 2.
since the TP2 doesnt have an LED flash, how important is the LED flash to you guys??
also how good of the quality of build does this device have? does it feel really solid and how also the tilt feature, how delicate is that?
the 1500mah battery, how great is the life on that?
and finally(for former TouchPro/Fuze users) is this worth upgrading?
would like to look foward from hearing from all you guys over here.
thnx
oh cmon guys, im looking forward to buying this device but i need some info first
I just switched from a Fuze. The Tilt2 is MUCH better. Stock AT&T ROM is much snappier than the stock Fuze ROM. Signal is SIGNIFICANTLY better. Screen is amazing. And lastly the speakerphone on the Fuze was pretty crappy, but this one is just fantastic.
In my opinion it is well worth the upgrade. You won't be sorry
If you search the forums there are alot of useful threads comparing the 2 devices.
Do you need the keyboard? Because HD2 will have a 1GHz processor...
Also, the RAM is quite few. Only 188MB available, and TF3D eats more than 54% of it...
well im kind of teetering between slimness or the use of a good keyboard, the 1GHZ seems like a promising procesor speed for the leo, the only thing is i hope FCC approves it, but for the mean time the tilt 2 seems like a good device to have for a little awhile, like i mentioned in the first post the lack of LED Flash is holding me back from buying the tilt 2, u guys got any other thoughts on the device?
Hi & Welcome,
For these generic questions, you'd find more help in the "Got Mine" sticky thread. It also helps keep the forum organised .
Thread Closed.
Thanks
