Push email in GMail service (WM6) ? HOW? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Maybe it easy for You but i have no idea how can I get a "Direct Push" in my Hermes WM6 LVSW with a gmail service, i looking for some tutorial or something step by step thanks.

subscribe to a push email account such as mail2web or do a search for free exchange account then forward all your email to that exchange account and tell your admin for your exchange to use an alias (the name of your gmail account). i use [email protected]

Thank You.

or sign up for hotmail live beta and just have your gmail forwarded to that..
Its free also.

the hotmail account can it be used without the live installed on the ppc?...

You can use my service. Check my signature for the link.

Well you would need to install it on your PPC if you want the push HTML email feature..

Thanks for all answers, now everything is clear

Exchange SP2 Push Mail Providers

Hi all,
Just upgrading to new Imate ROM. Now it seems that Universal has push email can anyone recommend an Exchange SP2 direct push email provider for consumer market? Many thanks for taking the time to read.
Tom C (UK) :lol:
The onlyone I know for the moment is 4smartphone.net - if you find any better (means cheaper), let me know!
Some report are saying 4smartphone.net takes 30 seconds to push an email to your device, rather than 5 seconds or less that others are getting via their own exchange servers.
Its worth asking these website exchange account providers what frequency they run the push 'heartbeat' at - you might end up with a big bill if they haven't set the Exchange/firewall to a reasonable rate.
Device SMS Address
I've just signed up for the 4smartphone trial, but Orange are completely unable to tell me what the Device SMS Address should be. They don't have a clue what this is about. I was guessing [email protected], but that doesn't work.
Does anyone know what it should be?

If you're using the aku2 rom then you don't need an sms address. The MSFP/Direct Push works via http not sms. Waaaaaay better!
Settings
I think it is that version. I'm using the new ROM version 1.30.68 with Radio version 1.09.00. I can see the push mail icon in Comm Manager, but it's greyed out, so I'm not sure where to go from here. The 4smartphone support pages are not exactly informative.
Can anyone point me to a website about setting this up? My searches are not getting me far.
Thanks.

Got it working
Just need to ignore the instructions on the 4smartphone web page about SMS Device.
From the moment of clicking send on my Desktop to the email arriving in my device inbox the time taken is about 25 secs, which includes gmail forwarding it to the 4smartphone address.
4smartPhone Help!!
Glad to hear that you got the SMS problem sorted which help me out too. I can now sync with contacts but what do I do for the email. Do I have to set an account up on WM5 which I have done but there is no push coming through I have to manually send and receive. Any help much welcome. Thanks
You need to set it up using active sync in WM5. You will need to add a server (secure.4smartphone.net) then your username, password and domain (4smartphone). It will then sync using the GPRS connection.
I've got Outlook desktop, Outlook Web Access (with smartphone) and Outlook on WM5 all synchronizing nicely. My only problem is that I have three pop email account on Outlook desktop, but 4smartphone only seems to work with one.
And just to add the obvious, you need to have email being forward to the address that you got @smartphone.com

4Smartphone.net are US based, where email to SMS is very common. It took the Americans about three years to wake up to the fact that everyone else in the world has to pay for SMS messages to be sent - hence the new push technology from Microsoft.
What they are referring to is a feature known as AUTD (always up to date) which is how Exchange used to do push. A specially created SMS text message would be sent to your phone which told your device that something had changed, and it would then do a sync.
I am told that it worked very well - it is just unfortunate that for everyone outside of the USA the feature would cost many thousands to run for each single user.
Simon.
4smartPhone Help!!
Thanks for your quick reply. I have forwarding set up and all the correct settings for Active Syn in WM5, UserName, Password, Domain and Save password. Under the Options in ActiveSync there now appears and Exchange Server with the following selected Contacts, Calendar, E-Mail, Tasks.
I'm still not sure though what to do with the email all the above are syncing via 3g. In the Messages section do I have to create a new account and if so what are the correct setting for this?
Thanks again for the help and suggestions.
Tom C.
When it syncs with the Exchange server it automatically goes into the Outlook email inbox on your device. If you've previously been synchronizing with the desktop it wipes out those emails, which is why I'm trying the Pro version of 4smartphone and synchronising all three.
Have you checked if test emails you are sending are reaching the 4smartphone email address? You can do that by logging into the web version of Outlook via the link on their website.
Also the push email icon in Com Manager should now be working and it will say Microsoft DirectPush at the top.
That may not be much help, but I am also completely new to this.
4smartPhone
Once again thanks for the help. Just about got it sorted as I read your reply. The missing link for me is that the you don't have to sent up a seperate email account I was looking for server addresses extra but all those go under ActiveSync. Getting mails fine now but not too sure yet about sending them. Are yours sending fine or is there a delay?
Thanks again, you are still once step ahead of me
I've got Push email working with mail2web.com and have a few questions:
I've gota couple of email addresses that won't forward to my mail2web email account and I don't really want to use mail2web's harvester as that only checks once every hour, so I was wondering whether it's possible to set Outlook on my PC to synce with my mail2web account so that my PC will download emails from my POP accounts, then upload them to my mail2web server, which then pushes the emails to my phone?
Or is there a simpler way to do it?
Also, when I reply to an email that's been pushed the reply address is always my mail2web email address, which is a pain as it confuses people and gets rejected by my email groups. How can I change the default address that my replies go from, or even just change them on each email as I reply?
I'm sure I'll have more questions soon.! Cheers.

Gmail Direct Push

I was just reading this on the
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmob....mspx?id=6d782351-d1fe-4386-a875-a0014394e06c
It also has Direct Push technology for the most popular email services (Hotmail, Gmail, etc), and with Exchange 2003 SP2 or Exchange 2007, it features Direct Push email from Outlook

Gmail directpush anyone know how this is posible ?????? Is it WM6 feature ? WHere do you set that up ????
I'm betting its a TMo app that is SMS based and requires a client on a PC somewhere to scan the mailbox.
gmail direct push
no, in fact this is not a tmo app. To set this up you need not have any other accounts setup, this needs to be the first account you set up.
go into activesync, click on sync my account with it now, for the address server type in m.google.com, then type in ur user name and pass and you'll be all set.
I'll post a complete description about it in the next couple of days, barely have the time now. sorry guys
It's using GoogleSync, see here for simple instructions

Email Issue

I have a Telus CDMA TP2.
In my last Windows Mobile device, Samsung Omnia i910, I was able to receive email from one account and reply to email from a different account. ( have exchange account and an alias POP account which comes in via the exchange account).
I would like to respond using the alias account, the default is exchange account.
Is there any workaround? I would prefer to stay with current email and not have to move to 3rd party app like Flexmail.

Yes, I am aware I can copy and paste.
The Omnia had the ability to select email account.
It is cleaner than copy and paste, maybe it will be option in Windows 6.5

Outlook help (can't send from outlook box)

I can send from my Sprint TP2 mail "link" acct I created both on network or wifi but If I use the 'outlook' account (now that I think about it-i think it was auto created by activesync) to send or most specifically-reply to an email , it just waits in the outbox unless i manually run activesync... I want the emails to be sent when I'm NOT on my pc! So, I can send, but only from the "link" account. Ideas? Thanks in adv.
The "Outlook" account on your device will only fully function if you set it to sync with an Exchange Server. Otherwise, it will do what you just described. If you don't have an Exchange account, don't set your Activesync to sync your mails.
Alllrighty then. Hmmm, can a guy create a dummy acct? Perhaps my hosting co./mail server co offers a solution. how does one go about getting said account? Theme looks cool, i'll try it. Thanks for the tip.
Gmail has recently supported syncing via Exchange. Personally, I signed up for a free exchange account at win.alol.net.br
There are others of course if you have a search.

Mobile Outlook/ free Yahoo! Mail Account configuration

My first post but not new to this site or wonderful community..
Here's my dilemma (I performed a search but couldn't find the answer I was looking for)
On my TP2, I'm trying to configure Outlook email (push service) using my free Yahoo email account, circumventing the process of signing up for a Premium paid service with Yahoo.
The standard email service on WM just does not cut it for me; I need to receive real-time push notifications.
I hear that this can be done with specific settings. I was able to accomplish that using my free gmail account on my old Iphone. Blackberries can be configured with no problems as well.
Any ideas, tips, tricks and direction to the right place?
Sign up for the Seven beta. It'll give you push email service for Yahoo basic. Works most of the time, but since it's beta, the service can go down once in a while. So not a great option if it's mission critical.

Windows Mobile supports push-email natively only if you use Microsoft Exchange or Windows Live (i.e. Hotmail). So, if you don't want to use any 3rd party software, you can do the following:
1. Set up your Windows Live email and set to sync as items arrive.
2. Set your Yahoo account to forward all emails automatically to your Windows Live account.
Downside is, it's tedious to reply to emails with your Yahoo account. You'll see the email in your Windows Live account. Then you have to pull the email from your Yahoo account and reply to it there.
Alternatively, you can pay for an Exchange service that allows you to change the "From" field.
Thanks for responding all:
@ vudo: Can you elaborate on this beta Seven service that you speak of?
@ ohyeahar: What domain and server address do I use when setting up my Live account?
Try these settings
Hotmail (when setting it up, intentionally misspell it so it doesnt redirect you to Windows live..)
-so.. put in [email protected]
Then manually enter these settings
POP = pop3.live.com
SMTP = smtp.live.com
GMAIL
POP = pop.gmail.com
SMTP = smtp.gmail.com
Yahoo
IMAP = imap.mail.yahoo.com
SMTP = smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
If you do it myknyte's way, you will not get push email for your Windows Live account.
You need to set it up via the Windows Live app. Just launch the app. It's very self-explanatory. If you don't have the app (for whatever reason), it's available on the Marketplace.

Go to www dot seven dot com and sign up for their bera program. You then set up your email accounts thru their service and it will push the emails to you. Another benefit is that your email accounts are saved, so if you flash a new rom, you dont have to type in the settings again. Note though that once you have it installed, any new email account gets added through the Seven service.
