For some reason the contacts lists on my MDAIII only goes up to the letter M. On Outlook they are all still there beyond M, but a sync doesn't detect any missing contacts. If I edit one of them in Outlook [deliberately change a number temporarily] then it gets synced, but I can't incorrectly edit all my contacts or I'll forget what I changed!
Is there a way of making ActiveSync re-transfer the whole database of contacts from the PC?
Thanks.
hi mattross,
1) try to remove partnership and create it again.
2) check if you have latest ActiveSync.
if nothing helps, you can try this:
get this Backup tool: http://handster.com/product.php?id=29
Backup your device, but without PIM data (use 'Custom backup')
Hardreset device, restore data and synch from your desktop PIM data.
Cheers,
Victor
Hello there,
Recently I almost had my BA dead. Fortunately, I've managed to save it and now I'm facing a great problem. I'm so tired and I can't think of any solution, I need it fast that's why I'm asking you.
My phone during the "good times" was named something like WM_blbabla. I had all my contacts and calendar synchronised and it worked perfectly well. After disaster (i had to reinstall OS), I named my phone with some other blablabla, and although all info is still in my Outlook 2007, I can't manage to force contacts to sync with the phone. Whatever name I try, Outlook cannot send all these contacts to my phone (it doesn't create any new personal file though). How can I restore this data to my phone?
I hope you can all understand me - data is in outlook, my phone after synchronising doesn't want to download it. how do i do it
mmm, have you tried to name your ba the same as before?
that probably wouldn't help, i call my device the same name after each hard reset and every hard reset, still the old partnership needs to be deleted.
maybe you should try this: since your device seems to be rather empty these days, hard reset it again, and before even connecting it to the pc, make a backup of your outlook data file (outlook.pst) but don't copy it, move it some place else. then go to activesync or synchronisation center, depending on your os, delete all your former partnerships. now you have a clean system, open outlook, it will give you an error message, that no outlook.pst was found and if it was relocated you should give the new location, try not to do that, but let outlook make a new one, if that doesn't work, google and download an empty outlook.pst fitting your outlook version, remember, since you backed up the old one, no mail or pim information is lost. import that. if that does not work, re install outlook.
my point is: have an empty outlook, have an empty activesync and an empty device, then set up the partnership for sync and sync it, make sure to set all the options like you want them, plus the "overwrite on the device" option, when this empty syncing went well, disconnect your device, kill outlook and activesync overwrite your empty .pst with your old one, this time copying it (to still have a backup) with your old one, restart outlook and activesync or your entire pc, whatever might work best, then connect your phone. if the "empty sync" worked, your full sync with actual data will also work, and within, say, 20 minutes for this entire process, you have all your pim data restored, and then, please do yourself the favour and expecting possible future sync issues, like with some of the newer roms, use pim backup to keep a backup of your mobiles information.
this was just the result of a minor brain storming session, please don't judge me, in case your problem is so complex, this wouldn't fix it. but i guess it would still help you find the errors.
good luck

Hello,
I bought a new laptop (with Windows 7).
I copied the .pst files of the old laptop (Vista) to the new one. So I have all my mails, contacts, ... on my new laptop.
When I want to sync my TP2 now to the new laptop, it doubles all my contacts, appointments, ... .
What am I doing wrong? Can anybody help me?
I really need to have this fixed asap (I use my TP professionally).
Thx
I think I found a solution.
Note:
a) This solution works when you try to sync with a new computer after already having copied all .pst files (outlook contacts, ...) from the old computer to the new one.
b) Problem in that case seems to be that all items (contacts, calendar items, ...) are doubled after sync
c) Possible Solution (has to be followed BEFORE any syncing with the new computer)
I followed these steps and it worked:
1. connect the device to the new computer
2. setup the new partnership (select contacts, calendar, e-mail, tasks and notes to sync)
3. when syncing starts, immediately stop the syncing so that there is no real sync (sync ended)
4. now deselect all sync relations (contacts, calendar, ...)
wait untill windows mobile device center finishes the procedure.
5. sync the device
6. delete the sync partnership --> you get a message that all of these items will be deleted the next time you sync (click OK)
7. set up a new partnership (select contacts, calendar, e-mail, tasks and notes to sync)
8. now everyting works fine (no doubles)
Hope this can help others too.
Hi all,
I want to share with you this simple method to import your contacts and other stuff from your WinMo OS to XDAndroid.
Follow these few steps:
1/ Boot your Raphael on Windows Mobile and sync with PC (with ActiveSync of course)
2/ On your PC, go to: http://my.funambol.com and create a free account.
3/ Download "funambol-outlook-sync-client.exe" to your PC and launch it.
4/ Enter your Login & Password just created and click on what you want to sync with MyFunambol.
5/ Boot your XDAndroid and go to the Market. Make a search for Funambol Sync.
6/ Download and install the app, then launch it.
7/ Enter again your Login & Password, then sync your Raphael with the server.
That's all.
(Another version of Funambol Sync is available for Windows Mobile too).
Enjoy.
Or,
1. Use Google Sync. Done.
if you don't have any contacts yet on ur googlemail account, you can use this method:
1. Use PPC PIM Backup and backup only contacts in *.csv format
2. Copy that *.csv file to ur computer
3. Import that *.csv contact to your google mail account.
4. Sync your android device to your google mail account.
5. Done

2.Just set under WinMo (Active Sync on Phone) google as Exchange Server log in with your google id and
sync contacts and what ever you want exept sms (will not work)
3. Just start Android and sync with your google account
once setup under winmo you never have to do it again becaus it's syncing under android and WinMo so this is perfect solution.
Or...
1.Copy contacts to SIM card.
2.Start Android.
3.Copy contacts from SIM.
They get synced to the Google account - done.
No programs needed.
Best thing about all these?
You only have to sync it once.

Not everyone has a SIM card my friend... This method would NOT work for me
Outlook
Since this method hasn't been posted yet I'll throw it in here
1. Export all contacts from Outlook as .csv (where you probably have them after sync with WinMo...) (select all contacts and choose send contact as vCard from context menu. Then a message is created with the .csv files attached to it. Now just select them all and drag&drop them to any folder)
2. Place the .csv files on mSD and import them from the XDAndroid contact-app...
P.S.: If you copy contacts to the SIM-card that contain more info than just a name and a phone-number, this data is either lost or written into another contact file (so you have multiple contacts of the same name each containing another piece of information...).
Not to speak of the fact that the memory on the SIM-card is pretty limited...

Perfect!
..I'm using Windows Live to store my contacts, so here is another tip:
go to people.live.com there you can export to *.csv from Manage>Export and then, you can import it to google account as described before..it's compatible

THANKS! this is the only wat that worked for me.... google sync asks for administrator domain to enable sync and i dont know what is that becaouse i use a gmail account.... lol ... thanks again now i have my contacts, appointments, tasks, notes, EVERYTHING synced.....
HI!
After much time spent in testing Sync apps that can syncronize my Gmail account with my Microsoft Office Outlook 2010, i've discovered the best way of doing it.
I used "gSyncIt", that i can sync contacts and calendar from Outlook<->Gmail. Then when i connect my Raphael with Android and turn Wi-Fi on, it sync with Gmail account
Unfortunately gSyncit is not freeware but i think is the best way to do the things the way i wanted.
Other but only for calendar is the "Google Calendar Sync", for those who doesn't know.
And another, and direct way to Sync the phone directly with Outlook by USB is Android Sync, but you need to install android-sdk-windows in your computer, boot with Haret but first make an ActiveSync connection in WinMo, so the PDA in Android can be recognized by the PC.
Hope i've helped many of you and make you happy as i am

Every ways to do that are welcome, but i think when you have a Win Mo, Android and Outlook, and want to have all of them synced, the best way to do it is like i've said in some posts above
Andorid-Sync
I was having problems with 86000106 using ActiveSync, so I decided to use SK Tools to delete my calendar database, planning to allow the server (Google cal via NuevaSync) to overwrite everything.
However, now the calendar on my Touch Pro2 is empty, but ActiveSync seems to think it is up to date, so it won't download anything! The online calendar is fine.
Is there a flag or something to reset to force ActiveSync to download? There don't seem to be any options to force an overwrite by the server.
P.S. This is with WM 6.5 and a stock ROM.
