3/ Download "funambol-outlook-sync-client.exe" to your PC and launch it.
4/ Enter your Login & Password just created and click on what you want to sync with MyFunambol.
5/ Boot your XDAndroid and go to the Market. Make a search for Funambol Sync.

That's all.
(Another version of Funambol Sync is available for Windows Mobile too).

2.Just set under WinMo (Active Sync on Phone) google as Exchange Server log in with your google id and
sync contacts and what ever you want exept sms (will not work)
3. Just start Android and sync with your google account
once setup under winmo you never have to do it again becaus it's syncing under android and WinMo so this is perfect solution.

Or...
1.Copy contacts to SIM card.
2.Start Android.
3.Copy contacts from SIM.
They get synced to the Google account - done.
No programs needed.
Best thing about all these?
You only have to sync it once.

Not everyone has a SIM card my friend... This method would NOT work for me

Outlook
Since this method hasn't been posted yet I'll throw it in here
1. Export all contacts from Outlook as .csv (where you probably have them after sync with WinMo...) (select all contacts and choose send contact as vCard from context menu. Then a message is created with the .csv files attached to it. Now just select them all and drag&drop them to any folder)
2. Place the .csv files on mSD and import them from the XDAndroid contact-app...
P.S.: If you copy contacts to the SIM-card that contain more info than just a name and a phone-number, this data is either lost or written into another contact file (so you have multiple contacts of the same name each containing another piece of information...).
Not to speak of the fact that the memory on the SIM-card is pretty limited...

Perfect!

..I'm using Windows Live to store my contacts, so here is another tip:
go to people.live.com there you can export to *.csv from Manage>Export and then, you can import it to google account as described before..it's compatible

THANKS! this is the only wat that worked for me.... google sync asks for administrator domain to enable sync and i dont know what is that becaouse i use a gmail account.... lol ... thanks again now i have my contacts, appointments, tasks, notes, EVERYTHING synced.....

HI!
After much time spent in testing Sync apps that can syncronize my Gmail account with my Microsoft Office Outlook 2010, i've discovered the best way of doing it.
I used "gSyncIt", that i can sync contacts and calendar from Outlook<->Gmail. Then when i connect my Raphael with Android and turn Wi-Fi on, it sync with Gmail account
Unfortunately gSyncit is not freeware but i think is the best way to do the things the way i wanted.
Other but only for calendar is the "Google Calendar Sync", for those who doesn't know.
And another, and direct way to Sync the phone directly with Outlook by USB is Android Sync, but you need to install android-sdk-windows in your computer, boot with Haret but first make an ActiveSync connection in WinMo, so the PDA in Android can be recognized by the PC.
Hope i've helped many of you and make you happy as i am

Every ways to do that are welcome, but i think when you have a Win Mo, Android and Outlook, and want to have all of them synced, the best way to do it is like i've said in some posts above

ActiveSync not syncing whole contacts list

For some reason the contacts lists on my MDAIII only goes up to the letter M. On Outlook they are all still there beyond M, but a sync doesn't detect any missing contacts. If I edit one of them in Outlook [deliberately change a number temporarily] then it gets synced, but I can't incorrectly edit all my contacts or I'll forget what I changed!
Is there a way of making ActiveSync re-transfer the whole database of contacts from the PC?
Thanks.
hi mattross,
1) try to remove partnership and create it again.
2) check if you have latest ActiveSync.
if nothing helps, you can try this:
get this Backup tool: http://handster.com/product.php?id=29
Backup your device, but without PIM data (use 'Custom backup')
Hardreset device, restore data and synch from your desktop PIM data.
Cheers,
Victor

Agghh! No active synch - where are my files?

Hi guys,
My XDA orbit is about to clag up and needs hard reset/ or reformat. I need to backup quickly.. but....
All my active synch will do is allow me to browse the files using explorer, and it will not synch with Outlook 2007 on a new clean pc .
If I cannot synch the vital ones held on the XDA orbit calander, contacts, etc. with Office directly, is there another method?
Can I for example copy 'certain' files from the XDA and put them on the pc and import them into Office?.. or can I do a sprite backup in such a way that I can open upo the files on the pc and import them into Outlook?
Thanks
Ann
ps If I open up Active synch on the XDA i just see the intial blurb " To sybch wth a desktop computer , install acrtivesynch on your computer and then connect this device... etc..etc.."
&
If I open up Active synch on the PC then I find Synchronize and Options greyed out.

Heya,
can you delete the membership in active sync ? I would try to delete the membership and connect again. Which version of ActiveSync you're using ?
When you start ActiveSync on the phone, it's also greyed out and you can't change anything ?
Maybe using PPCPimBackup is a temporarely solution for you - you can backup all your contacts, calendar, tasks etc to your storage card, flash another ROM and restore these things back. Here is a description how to import the PIMBackup file into outlook.
Cheers
Hi,
If I understand you - your intention is to backup your personal informations like contacts, tasks etc. before hard reset (with no possibility to synch with PC)?
In that case you can use PIM Backup (search xda-developers). You can save contacts, phone calls, tasks, appointments on SD card and restore after hard reset.
Sprite Backup also have such a possibility.
Hope this will help you.

Importing CSV contacts directly into Windows Mobile device

I'm trying to find a free solution to synchronize my Google Apps contacts with my HTC Touch. I have decided to export my Google Apps contacts into a CSV file and import them directly into my Windows Mobile wirelessly using the data plan...
Is there any software that will let me import my Google Apps contacts directly to my Windows Mobile address book?
I needed to do something similar and found this web page: http://manish.wordpress.com/2008/11/14/importing-contacts-to-windows-mobile-without-ms-outlook/
So here you rename your CSV file to whatever.CSC, zip the file and rename the zip to whatever.PIB.
Then you can use the PIMBackup software to import the contacts.
I've done this just now while I typed this message and it worked.
I didn't need to zip * rename to PIB, I simply imported the CSC file.
The reply is a bit late, but maybe it will help someone, I certainly found this thread.
Well I think now you can just do it directly from google. m.google.com/sync
yeah but google sync works spuriously and will delete all contacts when the server is deleted so it is not good for a reliable 2 way backup. A .csv import tool is still needed.
i cant do the same with messages, it pimbackup always assumes the csv is contacts, any solution anyone?
fixed that, now pimbackup wont accept teh format
Importing the easy way!!
@ amahfouz
Try and get the CSV imported to your Outlook contacts and then just sync your phone with your PC. This should be the easiest solution I can think of!!
I had the same problem and didnt find a good solution, so i wrote an app for importing contacts from a google csv, havent tested it with other csv-files.
Works good for me.
If you have contacts on your phone already you should back them up using PIMBackup or som other app before using this app.
There might be errors in the csv-file and if there are the contacts will be created with errors like phonenumber in the name-field and so on.
How to use it, your three step guide to a better life:
1. click on "Choose file" and select the file you want to import
2. click the "Read contacts" and it will load all rows into memory and display how many rows it found
3. click "Import contacts" and it will create a contact for each row it found
if something went wrong and the contacts look wierd or something, just clik on the "Clear contacts" button, click yes when asked if you want to delete all contacts, and it will remove all contacts. Note that it deletes ALL contacts, not just the ones it just created, so if you had contact before importing these you should have made a backup like i told you to do, because now you haveto delete every contact manually.
ofcourse you use this app at your own risk, i dont take any responsabilities to what might happend to your phone, not that i think something will.
Its just reading a file and creating/deleting contacts.
Hope it helps someone...
im gunna give this a try, sounds like it will do the trick
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-thunderbird-contacts-export.html
(works perfectly )
Do you run this application on your phone or PC?
Worked a treat, Cheers
Very useful thread! Thanks a lot!
Thanks guys! This saved my skin!

Guide to Resetting Accounts without a Hard-Reset

Hi all,
I have found a way to remove the main Windows Live account associated with the phone and insert another one without having to Hard-Reset the device.
Removing the main WL account might be indicated in the following conditions:
Improper Region Selected with Your Account
Switching between 2 Windows Live accounts
Problem with Contact Sync through Windows Live
Problem with Contacts stored locally on phone
Requirement:
Dev-Unlocked Windows Phone
WP7 Root Tools
Procedure:
Goto WP7 Root Tools or any other file explorer on the device
Navigate to \Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Stores\DeviceStore\
Rename store.vol to store.vol.txt (or anything else) - can be used as a backup
Restart the phone
WP might indicate that there was a problem with updating and all your messages, contacts and accounts data have been removed.
Now you can manually add them again.
Please note that, all your stored emails, messages, locally stored contacts and other data associated with your setup accounts will be erased from the device (can backup by restoring store.vol.txt to store.vol). Make sure you sync your contacts before proceeding with this.
Were you able to use the existing installed apps and update them without any issues ?
Also note that it's possible to open the contact and messaging database (store.vol) with software an merge it into the new one. That's what the SMS backup app does when restoring, for example.

First of all i think your thread is removed soon...
If you're on 4.0 or 4.1 you can save contacts just press menu button and they're on your sd card and if you need them again its just to import them.
And you can sync them with Google.
So if you're on 4.0-4.1 you need to manually write down your contacts on your phone then save them. :good:
I also had this problem when I moved to 4.0...
What I did was:
- In Kies, export my saved contacts do VCF (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25029961&postcount=5 )
- After this, I imported the contacts to Outlook.
- Downloaded this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/googlesyncmod/
- Used this program to sync betwwen Outlook and Gmail...
If you have your contacts in Gmail, you never have to worry about this again...
the dev section is always the right place to post everything anywhere !
Just make all your contacts Google/Gmail (therefore synced) before flashing (check them online to be sure), then they will be synced back as soon as you associate your new ROM with your Google account.
You'll never need to worry about syncing or losing contacts again.
