~~~Any "chat" mode sms software on Excalibur? - HTC Excalibur
Does O2 SMS Plus have a smartphone edition?
Miss my Treo. :[
Do you mean something that puts it in a AIM type format? If so then you can try TextMan and QThreader
Its been talked about a lot. I've personally tried TextMan and SMS threader and they both fall short of the Treo. For now, im back to the regular cluttered inbox.
SMS Threader and WM6
Anyone get it to work? txtman sends messages but doesn't pick them up. I never could get the Q one to work, still can't in this either. This could be a deal breaker for me until one works for it.
Ugh. I'm having the same problem (as are we all w/ wm6 apparently) with txtman. was one of my most used apps on wm5 so def disappointed. hope ben harashima gets us an update soon (http://www.benhirashima.com/software/).
same here. im so disappointed!
SMS Threader
I use the Palm Messaging Beta 4 for threaded messages. The only differences from WM5 are that the fonts are smaller, and that for some reason my old inbox is still there. This is fine for me because I can now send MMS with the default app (cannot be done through the Palm program). All SMS's come in through the Palm app and MMS's come in through my text/multimedia inbox. Seems to work great for me!
yeah but the back button is useless in the palm sms threading program because it was intended for pcs with TOUCH screens. can someone map the back button to being the ok button for the pdas?
How to go back to main window
I got the same problem, when I click into a chat, I can't go back to the main window which can help me switch into inbox, sent box, draft & trash.
Anybody know how to go back to the main window in Palm thread sms Beta4?
with which button?
you must use task manager to close the program and then open it up again. PITA! i stopped using it, i downgraded to wm5 and am using text man now. couldn't be happier!
I haven't tried the Palm threaded messagaing again on my Dash yet since upgrading to the official WM6, but I did install it on my Vox. It works. I took screenshots of it on my Vox.
Threaded SMS Program that works on WM6?
Anyone know of a Threaded SMS program that actually works on WM6 with our model of smartphone? I've tried numerous programs and actually got "Palms Threaded SMS" to work, but the font is way too small and the back button can never get me back to the main screen. I'm constantly stuck in whatever thread is open.
Try this SMS Chat app
Installed fine. Program runs great, but my SMS messages are still coming through the default DASH Message Inbox. They go out fine through the SMS Threader, but won't come in. I'm using WM6, but the page says it works with WM6. Please help!
Slick IM Issues
Every time i open slick i get a message asking to check for updates then it say my version (.43) is up to date i press back. Click connect and the program freezes and i have to kill it. Anyone know whats going on here?
hmm well have u tired unistalling it and then installing
id have to agree with bronco boy...go to lonley cat games website and get the new one...uninstall the old and install the new...should be ok
ha ha bronco boy.. i have nothin to say you won that one.. wat is that 1-1
hey i have question, now i have an unlimited text plan with t-mobile, right now im using OZ Aim (which i believe counts as text messages, not sure im new to this). anyway OZ Aim sucks, it lags ALOT. i used parlingo for a bit before i couldnt anymore (since i didnt have the data plan). is there a way i can use slick or parlingo to make it count as mms? or will i have to stick to OZ messenger.
If I'm not mistaken...(And I could be) I thought I read there is one of the 3rd party applications that allows you to use sms for IM's or data. I would do a search "Instant Messagers" and read through the threads. No not OZ but another. Maybe someone else can reassure you this is correct.
No Palringo will only operate if you have a data plan because it does not consume your SMS unlike OZ messanger which consumes your SMS.
i think has askin for a im client that uses sms other than oz instant messenger.. and i dnt kno of any
Threaded texts in thouch flow?
Maybe I am just stupid but I cant find a way to put the text msgs in the thouch flow software in threaded mode. It seems kind of retarted that it would not come defaulted this way but who knows.
I have a sprint TP2 running wm6.1 stock rom if this makes a difference.
No one has this problem, does touch flo even do threaded texts?
Anyone?
If I am not mistaken, I believe I have the same ridiculous problem. Is what you are trying to say is when you click on your SMS from TouchFlo, it goes into HTC's messing program, correct? From there, all the messages you received are on top while the messages you sent are on the bottom? If that is your problem, those are all your old messages you transferred from the old phone.
Any new messages you get, will be threaded from onwards. If that is your problem is well, I am also trying hard to find a solution to fix that.
kind of
I want it set up so on the messaging tab it just shows the name and then when you click on the name it shows the conversation.
How its setup now its like WM 5 and not the threaded style in WM 6 and 6.1. Actually 6 was the same way i think....I cant remember.
Anyway if you cant do this now they better put it in the new touch flo for 6.5 or i am going to be pissed its not hard to do the programming for it.
Anyone?
you cant tell me no one else wants threaded mode in touch flo?
If any one has there sprint or any TP2 for that matter in threaded text mode pls let me know.
Can someone atleast respond with a yes or no you can or cannot do this?
I have threaded messages in Touch Flo on my Tilt2.
Can you turn it off? or did it come defaulted that way?
For me it's only threaded once I click the message. It's not actually threaded on the Touch FLO today screen plugin, would love if it was though
Yea thats what I am saying if you want to go to the next coversation you need to go thought the whole current conversaton just to get to the next one. After you click on a text it then opens the threaded msg.
The main screen only shows the last 25 messages you got, in order. Pressing the message then takes you to the threaded conversation with that person.
How would it even work another other way? How would you see different conversations?
if you click on a contact in touchflo you can go to the messaging tab and it will ptu you into the last conversation you had with that person via text. the messaging tab is more so for quick viewing of the most recent messages.
yea there is no way to change it?
Can any one provide a sold answer here?
Can this be done I dont want to see the latest msg in touch flo I was to see the names in a list. The person I got a msg from last should be the name at the top.
Post if you get SMS LAG! And your specs!
I am trying to narrow down why some of us are having SMS lag. Lets say when you send or receive SMS, your phone lags for a few seconds to sometimes a minute. I have tried a few ROMs and still have this small amount of lag. I believe it might be the radio I am using.
TP2: TILT 2 from ATT
ROM: Feb 7th NRG Sense 2.5 from 21XXX
RADIO: 4.48.25.20
I had some SMS lag on my stock 6.1 tmobile ROM, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore after I ran the fix to kill the "sent" notification. I can't find the cab for it just now, but you can find it easily in the forums here.
EDIT: I have radio 3.45.25.14, just fyi.
Thanks. I disabled that. Are you using Sense 2.5?
I just switched to Sense 2.5. I haven't been using it enough to experience this lag, but I noticed when in a text message and switching to landscape I freeze up on occasion. I have to make sure the text screen is fully loaded before sliding my keyboard.
Energy.RHOD500.21891.Leo_07.Feb.2010
I have the sms lag with official T-Mobile WMO 6.5 and Sense 2.1. When I exit a chat it hangs for 5-10 seconds everytime. I also get lags after sending SMS's. I didn't have this problem with stock 6.1.
What are the chances we get a hotfix from HTC/WMO?
I've had the sms lag with every Manila 2.5 ROM I've tried. Starts out nice and quick and then after about 3 days it's very laggy. Deleting text messages brings it back up to speed usually.
Otherwise no lag here, specs in signature.
It's simple...the core code for the sms app is crap. Like Toleraen said, if you clear out your messages it's good for a few days...or less depending on the volume of text messages that you send/receive. I send/receive anywhere from 100 to 150 messages everyday so my tilt2 doesn't take long to start lagging. The problem is within the windows mobile code. The sms code has been crap since winmo 5. I've had the treo, mogul, tp and now the tilt2 and they're all the same...lag lag lag. That's why you still see the lag even in cooked roms. I don't believe any of the core code is re-written in any of the cooked roms (correct me if i'm wrong). The problem for me is that I need to keep all my text messages (for business purposes) so I will ALWAYS experience this lag. Either way, you shouldn't need to constantly be clearing out your messages for your phone to work. With all the text messaging people do these days it needs to be a daily task, and who has time for that. Microsoft needs to re-write this app and make it more efficient. BTW, htc released a hotfix for this "sms freezing" for the tilt2 and I installed it on my tilt2 and it didn't make a bit of difference.
So, if anyone out there has actually found a real solution to this, please share.
BTW I have an att tilt2 with the stock 6.5 rom.
I think a lot of the reason I don't experience this is because I keep my sms storage trimmed almost all the time. I too need to retain a lengthy history of texts, I just use a solution that stores and backs them up off-device in a way I can quickly reference via a PC...any threads I'm not actively using get backed up (manually), singly or in batches, at least once a day. There's a number of tools that can do this, I personally use MyPhone and Jeyo Mobile Companion.
If your need to keep the messages also dictates that you need them on-device at all times, then you might want to see if any of the SMS apps available for WM have the ability to save them in an accessible format elsewhere on the phone, like in a folder on the SD card (ideally).
This obviously doesn't solve the root issue (which I agree is endemic to WM...the same exact issue occured on my Wizard and my dad's TyTN), but it's a fairly painless way to sidestep it
I also use a couple of tools to back up my messages (jeyo mobile extender and mIQ live) so I guess there really isn't a need for me to keep my messages on my phone. I just don't have the time to sit there and trim down my sms storage on a daily basis. Deleting messages is also a slow process on winmo. It just annoys me that something this simple and easy to reproduce passes QA and gets released to the public. It shouldn't be up to the consumer to find workarounds for these bugs. Ultimately I think it comes down to trying to keep up with the competition. Microsoft and HTC are trying so hard to keep up with the iphone, blackberry and now the droid that they've really eased up their QA process and let things like this get passed QA just to release a phone. From my standpoint, they're not doing themselves any favors by doing this.
I text about 100 times a day as well. That is sending and receiving.
I was thinking that was the problem too, and as it seems a lot of us that have experienced the lag have a lot of text messages.
It sucks because I like to keep all my text!
This never happened on the WM 6.1 on my Tilt 1 though.
Coming near a conclusion that it is the major amount of text we have guys?
With my GF thread we probably have about 1000 something text messages over the past few months.
Yeah I didn't have the text lag with 6.1 either. I find it quite odd and annoying.
No lag in SMS, see signature for specs.
I also get a lag with the latest mighty rom but its mostly a lag when replying to a text message or even trying to close the window for text messaging it takes 5-10 seconds at times to close. I thought it was something with the software < i wish there was some time of program to overclock how fast the sms software works
How much text messaging do you do on a daily basis and do you regularly clear your inbox?
I text about 500 a month (based on my bill) and I keep a clean inbox. I delete it every few days.
This is why you don't get any sms lag. I do 500 every two or three days and I don't ever delete. I need to keep my messages for business purposes. I have software that backs up my messages to outlook but I like some redundancy. Either way I don't have time to sit there and clean my inbox on a daily basis and I shouldn't have to. With the volume of texting that I do I would have to clean it every day to keep my phone from lagging. Winmo stores an "unlimited" number of text messages (provided there memory available), yet the phone doesn't work properly if the inbox is too large. To me, that's a feature wasted. If you're going to give a phone a feature, make it so that it works.
Tmobile 6.5 Rom Mine lags all the time. I'm not patient so i soft reset most of the time. it is pretty annoying
Same here.
Is there a 3rd party application that can be used? The only thing I can do to stop the lag, is to run traditional mode, which is not what I want. (HD2)
I disable the HTC Messaging service and use the WM client.
You can still use the HTC messaging from the contact page of a person, but it sets the WM as the default
See my post here and try it out if you want.
Theres no lag at all.
I still get the lag after I send a message and exit out of the screen to go back to sms inbox, anyone find a solution yet?
