Wireless stereo on XDA IIi (missing bthutil.dll) - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi,
Sorry, I know this topic is like a boomerang, but after searching all the posts I still cannot find the answer.
I'm using O2 XDA IIi with WM 2003 Second Edition. The hands-free works like a charm, but the music over bluetooth is not.
Tried to apply the A2DP patch that I found on this forum and nothing happens. "Nothing" means there is no extra option in bluetooth settings (I expected something like "Wireless Audio").
I noticed that the .reg file make reference to bthutil.dll, which is not on my device. Is it possible to overcome this (like getting this lib from somewhere and copying it on the device)? I tried to look for software upgrades, but the only upgrade possible is buying a better PDA ;-|
A few people claimed they had got it working, so what am I missing? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Maciej

Ok, I fixed it
Below is the answer for the others sake:
Somehow I managed to download the file: "Broadcom Corporation BT-PPC AV.cab". Sorry, I can't remember where from, I think I got the link from this website.
Once installed on the PDA everything went sweet. A new profile for wireless audio appeared and now my HT820 work fine.
Cheers

XDA2s Will not beam files by bluetooth!!!

I have had an XDA2 for sometime. I have just purchased a XDA2s but can not get it to beam a file, like on the xda2. I go to file explorer, hold down on the file I want to send and hit beam file. The page says searching but does not ever find any devices!!
I have upgraded the Radio ROM upgrade to version 1.12.00 and the Bluetooth upgrade to version 1.0.0.3900, but I still have the same problem. Is anyone else with an XDA2s able to beam files like with the xda2, or have any ideas why it is not working?
Thanks
hey same here too
hi
i too have the same problem and i dont even know on which windows m i Running my PDA ??
Can some one help me how to find which windows have been installed on my XDA IIs
if you have installed the 3900bluetooth stack, then you must forget about the beam option, when u tap and hold within file explorer, tap send by bluetooth instead of beam file, this will work as i had same problem, and i was told this by members here.
hope this helps.......
my way of beaming files via bluetooth is to open the bluetooth manager and select "new" then click on "browse files on a remote device". After that, bluetooth devices will be discovered by your BA. Once the devices are already listed, you could select to which device you want files to send to...
hope this helps...
cheers!
Guys, you're talking about two different things here. When you choose 'beam file' that means trying to send it to another device using the infrared port, not Bluetooth.
It says it can't find other devices because on your receiving device you've probably turned Bluetooth on, but not IR. And even if you had, you're supposed to align the IR ports and keep the two devices pretty close to each other. On your BlueAngel, the IR port is on the left side so you have to turn it.
You should either choose 'send via Bluetooth' if you want to send something via Bluetooth, or choose 'beam file' if you want to beam it via IR. Check if your receiving device has Bluetooth or IR capabilities and has these switched on; if you're using IR, point the device's IR ports to each other.
Your Windows version:
Start -> Settings -> System -> About.
Thanks
Thanks all of you
I just Cant belive that i couls see a reply posted so so soon
A million Thanks
and ill do keep a check on the forum
bluetooth not in my menu
Hey jojo
i have not got send via bluetooth on my menu in the FE
also i dont know the bluetooth stack ???
how do i get that now
no bluetooth sending on SPV M2000/XDAiis...
Robrecht: they are not talking about two different things, to beam a file it "should" pick up all incoming beams including bluetooth, if you try beam a file a menu will come saying two things:
1) infrared - align ports
2) searching...
Now the "searching" means its looking for bluetooth devices, provided you have activated "recieve all incoming beams" in beam settings...
Unfortunately although i know how it all works, i also have the same problem with my SPV M2000, i also cant send via bluetooth,i had the XDAii and that worked totally fine, the only way to do it on the M2000 is through exploring another bluetooth device, but not all devices allow for that...its such an easy operation that has become so difficult, i mean if thats how they have programmed it, it sucks ass, even old crappy phones with bluetooth can send files easier...
i think it is a problem and if there is any solution can someone let us know...
regards...

you dont need to unzip a cab file, a cab file is the same as a .exe file on your desktop pc,
just copy the cab file accress to a location on your pda, somewhere you know where it is.... lets say you copy over using active sync, into your documents..... when you go into file explorer on your pda, just tap the cab file and it will install ........ and hey presto..... your on bt build 3900
tradivise, upgrading to 3900, should sort your problem out.... sending files from devices to another handset by Ir is something that needs avioding, as i find that even if the pda can detect the device, it aint compatable and will always fail..... i even found this on my old XDA 2
instead on tapping on beam file on 3500 like with the xda2, upgrade to 3900 and you dont need the beam option.... just hold on file and tap send via bluetooth., anything is now sendable but if you want this to help with Ir within the beam option, this wont help as it is for bluetooth.....
happy installing if you choose to....... id recommend it tho!!
it does solve the problem!
joey jojo... thanks, yeh i installed it and it solves the problem, i now have the "send via bluetooth" option in the menu when holding down on a file i want to send, you can almost send anything....there is one thing thats seems a bit odd!!! - when using my bluetooth headset it sometimes crackles a bit even though im within a metre or two of the phone, i dunno, that doesnt seem normal...but i guess for the amount of times i use my headset compared to the amount of times i "wanted" to send files via bluetooth, i suppose i can live with the crackling...
thanks JJ
So i also recomend to anyone having the same problems as me upgrading to bt3900, i mean im not sure about the crackling, i read on another post somewhere that there are a few others with the same crackling problem, but as far as sending the via bluetooth, it solves the problem...
this is good news!
joey jojo, could I ask for one too?
cheers!
bt3900...
you can get bt3900 from this site - http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Bluetooth_1.0.0.3900_Upgrade
It gives you instructions and everything else...
happy installing...
thanks tradivise! one question though, would it be just fine if I wouldn't upgrade may radio rom and just install the bluetooth upgrade, would just do the trick the same?
cheers!
yeh it all workd fine for me and i didnt upgrade my radio...im running radio 1.06.02...
guys, thanks! just installed BT3900 and my BT works better now.
Hey man, thats cool, im glad you got it sorted out...

Bluetooth Headphones Problem

I have an O2 XDA Mini S and have just purchased a pair of Motorola HT820 Bluetooth headphones. I have paired the two; however, I only get the Hands Free service (which works) but NO Wireless Audio. I have not installed any other software / drives and I am using WMP 10 Mobile to play the music.
Any help with this problem would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Harold Clements
...Ok, I have been on this for about 4 hours now and I am starting to get a bit annoyed.
I clicked on Motorola HT820 and then went ‘Refresh’ and up popped ‘Headset’ so I ticked that and saved. I then clicked (and held) on Motorola HT820. The options that I get are Edit – Delete – Set as Hands Free. I think I should also have ‘Set as Wireless Stereo’ or something, but I don’t.
Please, has anyone any ideas?
Thanks, Harold Clements
Wirless Audio Hacks
I really could do with someone’s help!
I have read about the ‘hacks’ (zoad2p.cab, Tornado asdp, AKU2.6) but I am unsure:
a) if this is a solution to for problem / PDA.
b) what a hack is and why is it needed?
Please can someone help!
I don't know wich kind of PDA you have, as you can see everyone here calls their PDAs by their HTC's code name (mine is a universal), go to look the pictures of all the PDAs, find yours and search directly inside there, it will be much easier for you to find an answer.
One simple comment, your PDA has to have the Bluetooth high quality audio (is called be some PDAs in this way), see if your PDA does contain such feature, you have to activate it if you want to hear stereo audio, generally when you pair your phones for the first time, your PDA will show you the option already ticked, if you haven't see it, chances are that something is missing in your bluetooth profiles, go to your PDA's specific part of this forum and read, with patience and some luck, I'm sure you'll find whatever you need to get your PDA's stereo audio to work.
Most of the cases, are just the lack of the profiles or even installing another BT stack.
good luck
Thanks...
Thank you very much for your advice / reply, it was very much appreciated. It seems that my PDA is a Wizard. I will indeed search that part of this forum.
Thanks again,
Harold Clements
I don't think your phone supports A2DP profile. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Neither do i know if his phone supports it, I use to have an Ipaq 6340, it suppose that it didn't supported A2DP but with an BT stack extracted from another PDA (don't remember wich one) it worked, it didn't worked very well, it dropped audio more or less each 30 seconds for 2 seconds, someone said at that time that was processor lack of power -I didn't agree with this-, but I did no further investigation.
As far as I've understood, the main bottleneck for stereo profiles (or any deamanding profile in BT) is the radio, of course, if We don't have access to the manufacturers good information, good tools, much time and even more will is very hard to find a solution to anything, most of us do not spend lots of time with this things -it's not easy for anyone with a "normal" life-, and I'm not complaining!
It's just fine for me, the whole thing it's quite enjoyable like this, some more time spent in this way and it would become a second work.
So, may us have fun and keep an excellent forum up.

a hack is getting a device which dont support a feature to do it anyway
if htc dident make your device to support a2dp == bluetooth stereo
you maybe be able to get it to do it anyway using a hack
if any hacks works for your device
as it differs
bluetooth support is never support for all profiles bluetooth have
plus there are bluetooth version 1 - 1.1 - 1.2 and 2.0

The zoia a2dp hack (zoa2dp.cap) is what you need, it will give you "Set as wireless stereo" but be prepared for pretty bad skipping, that has not yet been solved for all of wizards.
Also if you flash to a custom rom (Like Molski's 2.26 it'll have the patch automatically.)

New Jabra BT620s firmware available

Hi guys,
this morning I've found the firmware upgrade for Jabra BT620s. It solves all connection problems (no need to activate AD2P from Bluetooth Settings Applet) and improve quality.
Here the link.
http://www.jabra.com/JabraCMS/EM/EN/Misc/Software620s (server is very slow)
I hope this is a real news... I don't know when the update became available...
ByezZ
it's available now and i downloaded it on my BT620s
i feel the quality is better now
what is the best bluetooth headset for dopod 900?thanks
Wau
Wau this update is cool. I was happy with the old one but this rocks ) thnx for info .. I didnt know that it is possible to update firmware in my headset ...
Can you use the sync cable that came with your PPC or do you have to use one provided by Jabra?(If there is one?)

I think that a normal USB cable like the Universal one is required... But not completely sure... If Windows installed the driver without problems, everything should be ok... Let us know!
Nice. By the way, this update doesn't work with Windows 2003 x64. I don't know if it x64 or 2003 issue
Had to patch it on winXP
HTTP 404
Could anybody upload this update somewhere else?

Thanxxxx!!!
My apologies for posting so long after this thread died down, but I have a few people to thank and it is well earned credit regardless of how far after the fact it is given. To edeplano and marco.minetti for their posts about new firmware for the Jabra BT620s I am most grateful as it was the key to ending my troubles with this headset, and a special thanks to captainsensible2002 for the rapidshare link since the original link has gone down.
I can't tell you how deep a hole I've dug to find an answer to this headset's problem. When connecting my AT&T Tilt (HTC TyTn II), if I don't turn on the phone's BT radio first (as opposed to turning on the headphones first), I have to go through all those "activate AD2P from Bluetooth Settings Applet" steps. My original thought was to find a macro program to record all the steps and just link that to a hard key, which is when I stumbled on edeplano's post. After a bit more digging through Google to find out more about this new firmware, I got linked back to this thread. Thanks to you guys, I needn't worry about any of that "which BT is turned on first" nonsense anymore as the headphones connect regardless of which device is switched on first now. I haven't tested it for better quality yet as has been claimed, but I thank you all in advance if that is truly the case as well.
problem updating
Hello! I'm a new user of the Jabra Bt620s. I was trying to update the firmware but once i put the headphones y "software download mode" windows asked me for the driver but... it has no drivers! and the program SATURN don't want to give me the "NEXT" as an option.
Have anyone experienced this problem?
I've tryed to update the firmware in windows XP SP2, XP SP3 and Vista Ultimate.
PLEASE! HELP!! thanks
I too am having this problem. Is there not a driver? I have spent countless hours over the past couple weeks trying to find this stupid driver... it is like it doesn't exist!
No luck for me
Apologies for resurrecting this old, old thread. I'm stuck, and don't know where else to turn.
I bought a BT620S on ebay. It seems like a great device, but I would like to update the firmware to address some of the stuttering, etc.
I downloaded the firmware update software and ran it. I plugged in my headset and pushed the two buttons, until one of the lights changed to green. However, the firmware update software just sits there, with the Next button disabled.
Does anyone have an idea about how to update the firmware successfully?
im having the same issue has everybody else.. next button does not work
Lolz, this was an year old thread & I just thought we have something new. I bought BT620 after this date so my BT may already have this.
I also was annoyed by some of the small issues with the Jabra BT620s, and also found the jabra.com webpage useless for firmware update, and also found this thread.
Next never became avaiable in Win7 64 bit (not even in compabilitymode), but then I turned to my girlfriends old laptop with WinXP 32bit (all updates installed).
Here no problems were encountered, everything went according to installation instructions, and the update seems to have helped on the sound quality ecc.
Thank you so much for providing the link! I hope this can help someone else.
Got it!
6 computers in the house, but no Windows XP.
Visiting in-laws for the holidays, and they have only WinXP. I brought the firmware upgrade .exe and the headphones, and it worked. Awesome!
The sound sync isn't quite perfect: when I play Left 4 Dead, firing weapon the sound is a little late. But for anything else, it seems just fine.
Thanks folks.
I just upgraded my bt with this & now there is no A2dp support. Can anyone point me towards any other update? I need to rectify this as soon as possible.

New BT stack on Hermes

Ok so it seems to be a pretty universal feeling that the bt does not work well on the Hermes. I personally am having trouble with filesharing.
So i searched (forum and google) and found different threads for different bt stacks, but I want to know what is a solid, stable, well-working one I can put on my phone?
I was under the impression that the BT stacks were pretty well intertwined with the ROM making them all but impossible to mix and match. But then I haven't really tried myself, so don't let me rain on your parade.
If anyone would know the answer to this question, it would be Sleuth. He is best man for tweaking BT that I know of. BTW, I haven't had any trouble BT filesharing (assuming you mean objectpush?) with SuperD-Lite. What are you trying to share with?

Oh i see. Im not very knowledgeable about how bt is incorporated and all.
Well I've had trouble finding, linking to, and sending files to my bro's phone (it sometimes works, sometimes doesnt). First he had an LG CU500, now its a Blackberry 7130c. Same with each. I've tried the "file explorer to find file and select 'beam file'" method and Dr. Yar's bluetooth app. Working bt isnt life or death for me, but it was always handy to share a ringtone, etc.
I just tried again with the blackberry. I went in with file explorer, chose a small mp3 on my storage card to send, chose "beam file", waited till his device showed up, clicked on it, and then it said "failed". Is anyone else having similar issues?
EDIT: Ok so now i go and find my old Razr cuz i know bt works on there, and lo and behold it sent! I guess its sometin about the blackberry. Although im still interested in if htere are any ways to improve/upgrade bt.
There was development underway on the Widcomm Stack nearly a year ago... check out this from the wiki Hermes Widcomm Stack I think you will find your answer there.
...and yet I find this stack 10000% better than what was on my 6700.
Especailly with my Audi, the BT never turns off when the phone goes to sleep and all my contacts show up in the HID.
It has been perfect so far!
I had issues with Bluetooth when I was using the latest official WM5 release for my Cingular 8525. None of my Bluetooth headsets would stay connected or even paired. But since upgrading to the "official" AT&T WM6 ROM, Bluetooth works just fine!
I have had very little if any BT issues using vp3G's 3.0 ROM. Very happy but waiting for 4.0!
I'm on Schaps 3.54c and my 8525 has been perfect with my Parrot3300GPS in my car. The parrot picks up battery, signal, contacts, etc. No problems. I wish my Wizard behaved that well.

Help! SIM Access Profile on WM6 not working!!

Hi, I have:
- TYTN with WM6 (latest version from Schap)
- VW Touareg with Premium Bluetooth kit (2007 touch-screen model)
The phone is recognised (the name), it seems to pair ok (had to put in a 16-digit PIN), but then the car kit cannot connect to the phone for some reason.
I'm not sure why, but what I do know is that SAP has worked with a Nokia phone (dealer tested it with me). There, it downloaded its address book. It doesn't do that with my TYTN. I have double-checked all my settings on my phone, it has SAP and bluetooth enabled
So, has anybody managed to see their SAP in action on the WM6 enabled TYTN, and if so did it work "straight out of the box" or did you do something magical that you're willing to share!!!
If it's not working I'll just buy a £40 unlocked Nokia with SAP support and use that, but preferably I'd like to use my own phone.
Thanks for your help!
- Install the BT SAP cab you find here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319468
- Enable Remote Sim Access
- Softreset
and it should be working. (does only synchronise the contacts on your SIM though, not the contacts in your phonememory)
Working here perfectly with VW Passat '07 with Premium Bluetooth Handsfree (ROM: Hypercore Lite SE). If you have any questions you can pm me.

Thanks WDawn,
Well it's promising you got it to work!! (yay!)
But I had spotted your post on the forum, downloaded the file, but the phone refuses to install it. I tried it on the older Schaps version, and I've even updated to the latest Schaps version. Both fail.
This is what happens: when I install in the Main Memory it says I do not have the required permissions, and when I install in the Extended Memory it says that it cannot install. When I tried installing it on the MiniSD card it produces the same as the memory message. I copy and pasted the file from my computer onto my phone, and tried installing it from the MiniSD card. I did not try to install it from the phone's memory itself I am just thinking.
Any idea???
Thanks!! (also thanks for confirming it's only SIM address book, forgot about that one )
To solve the issue of the permissions your should try this

If it's not working, reflash with Hypercore Lite SE. It's the best ROM out there.

You won't regret the (expensive) Premium Bluetooth Handsfree from VW. Never had such a good handsfree kit. Perfect sound quality!

I've heard the handsfree kit yes and it's fantastic, I agree!
Unfortunately, the file still refuses to install . Everything else works. I can install other things without a problem. I've unlocked the phone, checked registry settings (the policies one) and ran various unlockers. That seemed to do something (different security message, or sometimes none) but this particular cab file simply refuses to install.
So I'm afraid and you're right, I'll have to change to the Hypercore ROM... Shame because I liked the way Schap's ROM looks but I will try this because if it's just for looks I might be able to survive with another template
If in the meantime you or anyone else has any brilliant ideas let me know. Otherwise I'll revert this weekend - to let you know whether it succeeded or not (useful for others too on the forum perhaps!).

OK, I've reflashed my phone with Hypercore Lite SE and installed the BT_Test.cab file (which installed successfully) but it's still not working!!
Mind you, my girlfriend and I have the same phone (so 2x TYTN); I flashed hers twice (two diff ROMs), and I flashed mine twice. They are both "found" by both ROMs by the car kit, but once you've inserted that 16-digit security code the carkit gives it is paired but the carkit says it cannot establish a connection.
With both phones!!!!
I know the kit works as it paired with a simple Nokia effortlessly. That's probably because Nokia supplies the technology to VW.
So, unless someone has got a really smart idea, it looks like I'll have to buy a cheap unlocked Nokia 6230 from ebay...
I just find it really annoying you managed to get it to work (good for you ) but that the result is different for me! that's bizarre.
Anyone!??!?!?
Have you tested it with an official release of WM6 from HTC just to see if an unmodified version will work?

It's a good point - not yet!
Where can I download this from other than from HTC directly?? I have a T-Mobile Vario II and this does not come with an HTC membership (I've already tried via HTC's website)... Bit stupid really as it's the same device but there you go. T-mobile has no update unfortunately.
Cheers
Ah, I found a working link via the main page...
I'll post back to confirm the result - thanks!
Hope it works for you. If it does then you know it's probably some settings someplace that need tweaking or it could be a prog thats in the cooked ROM that just does not agree with your system configuration.
It didn't work.
After all that hassle of downgrading rom, SuperCIDing etc...
It doesn't work with the original HTC WM6 ROM arghhhhhhhhhhh
Always accepts the 16-digit code but then the "handshaking" stops; it pairs but the carkit "cannot establish a connection". As if it's incompatible, but then some other people managed to get it to work.
It's unbelievable.
Really bizarre
I'm [this] close to buying a Nokia 6230. Grrr.
You can alway put it back to WM5 if it's that important but I know you don't really want to do that. It was a good try though.
