Disappearing SD card - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Since I've had my Artemis occasionally after a soft reset the SD card appears as not installed. I would have to remove the battery and sim etc, replace the SD card into the holder and start-up the phone and it'd usually be ok. The only trouble is lately it seems to be doing this more frequently and it is becoming more difficult to get the phone to recognise the card upon start-up again. Anyone else experience this? Have an cure?

i've had the same problem on my magican. The solution i found was to remove the SD card and place it back. It seems to me that cardreader's contacts broken.

Its big but you must read first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285511&page=24

So the card is corrupt? Because when I stick it into my pc it reads it perfectly fine, no problems or slowness.
My phone has stopped recognising the card completely now, but when I started the phone in safe mode using iLauncher it recognised it surprisingly. I'm suspecting there may be a piece of software or a setting stopping the phone from recognising it. I'll have a read through that link some more tho just in case there is a solution.
If anyone else has another solution then it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Update: I've tried another 2 known working SD cards and neither of which are recognised by my device to it looks as tho its an issue with the phone and not the card. Has anyone experienced this before?

I've the same problem. I use 2 SanDisk cards, 512Mb and 2Gb, both of them seem to disappear as I boot the device. It hapens 50% of times and begins when I installed the HTC ArtemisSDEnhancement program.
I've tried to uninstall and reinstall several times and to format the crad but the errors continues at the 50% times.
When the P3300 reads the card I notice an abnormal slow response to any input and at the end it hungs for a big while. If you leave it alone it comes back but I usually need the phone now and I must have to soft reset.
I'm about to hard reset and try again but I don't have time.

Well I hard reset my device before I was going to post it back to o2 for a replacement and surprise surprise its working fine again!
That was 23 days ago and since then its behaved perfectly. I've installed the SD enchancement just in case but not certain if that's made any difference. Finger crossed its the last time the card starts disappearing.

This happens on my MDA C3 too now and again.
When it does, a soft reset does not solve it.
I have to take the battery out and then reinsert it.
After powering up the problemis not there.
Anyone know why this is happening as its really inconvenient to keep taking the battery out.
Thanks in advance.
BTW, one thing I have noticed, it seems to happen more often after a registry value change if that help anyone???

Phone kept resetting after soft reset!

Ok has that anyone had this issue with their Orbit?
I had noticed that the keyboard was not giving me any predicted text choices while typing, so I tried to change the input method to no avail. So I decided to perform a sft reset to sort the problem.
Oh was I not happy with the result as for over 5 mins all that was happening with my phone was the screen would light up o2 screen, green screen then enter pin and reset and it would do this again and again.
So even after removing the battery for a few minutes not change once I attempted to start the phone. I even reset the device via the button on the side and it made no difference.
I was just getting ready to bite the bullet and sound off the o2 when I remembered reading on here of something similar happening so I searched and found a posting saying to try and press soft reset just after phone started. And guess what it worked after that so what I want to know is why or what I did to get my phone working again?
Any ideas guys, only thing I can add was the phone was plugged in to my workstation USB so was charging when the initial soft reset was performed while using Valksoft's space reclaimer reset option.
Thanks
JC
Ok an update the phone is now doing this everytime it is turned off. And since the last time it occurred I have been unable to get the phone to work.
Any ideas, I believe it could be a registry issue with the phone as I had recently installed a couple of programs that worked fine for a couple of days then while installing a dictionary several programs were uninstalled in error.
So after installing again this problem has arisen. It is possible that this was not th cause as I hae noticed tat the last scheduled back up was on the 22/01/07 so Monday's was not carried out possibly due to this?
my orbit has also this bug. after a soft reset he is booting up till the pin entry and then a boots again and again. Up to 5 times
Yes, my Orbit sometimes needs to reboot 4 times before it will sucessfully bring up the Home Screen. Anyone got any ideas on why???!!!??
I had enough of it doing this so I have done a hard reset and the problem has gone now just need to set everything back as I want it as backup still had the initial issue once it was retored.
I guess it was to do with the registry but not sure what exactly, maybe redundant reg keys etc?
I've experienced same problem on my dutch t-mobile mda compact III.
Happend after installing different programs, but i can't find the exact cause.
when i remove the microsd (on which i installed the programme's) the device starts en doesn't softreset when phone screen shows.
At first i thought it had to do with programs that tried to connect to gprs before even entering the pincode of the phone. But even without pincode it keeps restarting.
Happend on my 1gb microSD once en also on my 2 gb microSD.
Hope that someone knows what the cause is, so i can prevend it from happening.
Resets caused by the Memory Card Fault
Look at the posts regarding the memory card corruption if you back-up the card format it and then put it back everything is fine for a while. Not puttting a My Documents folder on the storage card usually helps with this issue...
rebooting.
hi,
as you well understand there are only 2 possibilities: software and hardware failure.
Surely, you don't want to think about hardware failure, because in this case the solution is to send it back to seller or to service center. Except for the cases caused by battery and sd card. These are 2 elements you can replace on your own easy.
However, "instability" of the device normally caused by installed software.
The first thing you do, like it or not, if you have a problem, hard reset your device.
BACKUP your DATA before hard reset!
You can try to to remove software piece by piece, but could be time consuming thing and not necessarily lead you to a good result.
Radical approach is to return device to "factory state" - hard reset.
If after hard reset you still have a problem with your device like accidentally rebooting, address to service center or ask seller to to replace the good.
regards,
rebooting.
double post.
I had the issue once... card corrupted. Had a back up so formatted the card, put data back in, issue gone.
This has happened to my orbit a couple of times. But I think if I reset by pressing the reset button on the side of the machine it only resets once. Resetting after installing apps for example from the prompt is bad, do it later by pressing the actual button. This seems to work for me but only time will tell.
my htc p3300 has reset problm
my htc p3300 restarts automatically while im calling or using net it starts autuomatically it goes till green screen where it shows wm 6.1 then restarts again n again i dnt know plz tell me is it software or hardware problm

Slow SD card after hibernate

I was making do with a very slow O2 Orbit for a while and then I worked out what it was.
After soft reset iit was reasonably fast, sd card speed testers telling me that my sandisk 2G ultimate was excellent. Then a little later it was useless. Loading from SD was very slow.
I noticed that it started getting slower after it had gone into hibernation after no use for a short period. I went into "power", "advanced" and took the tick out of "turn device off if not used for" ...
Now it stay at full speed all the time !!
Has anybody else noticed this?, and does anybody know why?
Could it be a bug?, could it be an answer to corrupt cards.
I recon that the power being supplied to the card is less in these circumstances.
From the lack of responses I would guess that I am the only one getting this.
I wonder if this means there is a fault with the card?
No i don't think it's a fault with your card - i'm getting the same thing, but hadn't linked it to hibernation. Every now and then i check the card just to see if it's corrupt and i need to soft reset (fingers crossed i haven't had to for a few weeks now), and what i'll find is that it'll run like a dog just pulling up the list of things on it the very first time, and then after it's up to speed, i wont have issues again, until much later (as it happens after it's turned itself off and i've turned it back on).
No idea what it is though.

Problem with SD Card

I don't seem to be having much luck with my Desire what with Youtube sync problems, connectivity issues and now a nice new problem has occurred for a second time so I thought it was worth throwing it out and see if anyone else has experienced this.
Twice now my phone has popped up with a message saying its unable to complete a back up of my settings to the SD Card. After this message is dismissed I can no longer access the SD Card and I have to restart the phone to get it back again. I can eject the sdcard from the settings menu but obviously you can't actually get the thing out so that option is kind of worthless.
Starting to think it might be worth getting a replacement handset, but not certain there is anything actually wrong with it. For reference I have a 4gig SD card that came pre-installed as seems the norm with the HTC Desire.
Your memory card is probably loose.
Happened to me ONCE. I took it out, gave it a clean, shoved it back in and had no problems since,
Fon22
I have the same issue Intermittent and irritating. I have taken it out and reseated it but after a while it comes back again.

[Q] Desire screen failing to wake from sleep. Please help me.

Having an issue with my htc desire (it has a stock desire rom)
Basically when my phone goes to sleep the screen remains blank and I cannot seem to get the screen active
when I try to wake up the device as per norm the buttons light up however the screen remains blank..
the phone still seems functional (volume works, etc) however it does not respond to being 'woken up'
I have have done all sorts to try and resolve the problem, this includes checking sd card for errors, resetting phone.
Im a loss to what could be causing this, the phone is a right pain to use now, I go on a call and then screen dims but never recovers, however can still continue with the call.
I have to pull out the battery and restart the phone to have the screen 'wake'
I have looked at these threads of people with similar issues but no one has put up a solution.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980022
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892100
Tried testing the sd card for errors still have the problem.
Different SD card still have the problem
I tested it with the sd card removed and still have the same problem.
In airplane mode I still have the problem
With different sim I still have the problem
Tried two new roms, still have the problem (previous to this I had not changed roms in months).
Any ideas? How did other people fix this?
Strangely though after leaving it overnight it woke once the first time this morning. Now back to not waking.
Please help
hi,
another desire owner wrote the same issue on the QA forum...
seen a revealant linked posted by a member...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892100
at first sight seems to be a sd card issue... also have a look on sdfix thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010807
happens to me but just once, i just pull out the battery.
looking forward about sd card tweeking
hope this help
As I said it happens whether or not there is an SD card in the phone. And with different SD cards so I do not see how it could be an SD card problem.
Fixed it now. I took it apart then put it back together.

I have similar problem here...
Our case is that we can't wake a phone after deep sleep..Touch screen is just not responding. We can see a caller (when somebody is calling) and screen but touch screen is not responding.
After we lock it and unlock it again via Power button, all is just fine...
We caused that by disassembling and assembling the Phone..There was some dust behind digitizer, so we had to clean it...
There must be some strange thing that is not behaving as it should when U proceed
to disassembling and assembling..
So Guys out there...be carefully and think twice before you make decision to disassemble your Desire...

I realize now that problem that you had, has nothing to do with mine, because I have this issue, with or without Sim card..

MI A2 lite - Phone randomly rebooting multiple times

Hi all,
I bought the phone in the subject almost 3/4 months ago and I always had issues with the sd card I bought (sandisk Ultra 128GB) as, at the beginning when the phone was using Oreo 8.1 the card was constantly resulting as not connected (External card stopped working) however thi swas working despite the error.
I have previously noticed that the phone was rebooting itself every now and then but I never paid to much attention to it.
Since I updated to Android Pie, however, this issue started becoming more persistent. In a day the phone can reboot itself multiple times (sometimes even 5/6 times in a short period) and, although the card is not failing anymore prompting the error message preaviously mentioned, this still keeps giving problems as, right after reboot the card is not recognised and a different message is prompted saying that the card has not been inserted in the device.
The error disappears only after I unlock the phone as this is recognised and the apps are loaded.
Reading through the internet I noticed that many people face the same problem or similar and no fix as been provided as of yet.
I tried everything I could: Factory reset, flashing the stock rom from scratch (following the forum's thread), using the phone in Safe Mode (in this case the card wasn't loaded by the system so no reboot happened or at least not fort the time has been in safe mode) and updating to the latest version of Pie but nothing.
I also ran an hardware test to see if the issue was due to a bad hardware component and I still have a monitoring app in case the issue happens again (as it is really random. sometimes it can pass an entire day before the issue arises again).
Has anyone had a similar issue and found a fix/workaround?
I really love the product and I think this is something that can happen as, by my point of view, this is something caused by the software or the stock rom itself, however I would like this to be resolved as, at the moment, this is really frustrating, plus being a long time issue I think it might cause serious problems to the phone's hardware.
Please let me know.
Best regards to all of you,
Davide
Is your sandisk fake?
You can checked wit app call "sd insight" , but the app only works on old OS (latest i try jelly bean 4.1)
But even your sandisk fake, the only common thing happened is the sd card ejected or android remounting over and over thats all , not until reboot randomly (based on my experience using fake ext sd card)
Maybe you can try with another sd card you have or your friends have, if the symptom happened again , I dont want to judge but maybe its hardware problem? But dont know for sure just my 2 cents bro...

How did you format your card? Did you use internal or external option? Saw few posts with same issues and strange enough all with Sandisk cards.
