Storage space gone missing - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Recently I flash to WM6(tried every version) and still I have the white screen issues. So, I decided to downgrade to WM5. However, after the flash complete, my phone stuck at the at&t screen and do not want to proceed anymore. So, I have no choice to flash to WM6 Black 2.0.02 again. It works, but my storage is like below :-
Total 7.33MB
In Used 6.21MB
Free 1.12MB
Where does my memory gone ?
Thanks.
IPL 1.01
SPL 1.40 Olipro

try (using mtty) "task 32", "task 2a"
Should work?

yes, you have bad blocks in nand... "task 2a" should fix it.

Thanks, will try that after my breakfast. Cheers.

Sorry guys, my mtty refuse to connect to my device. I am in the bootloader now and it shows "USB" once I connect the cable. But mtty says cannot open USB port. Is there any where I can read on how to use mtty ? I am not an expert.
Thanks.

mtty use: READ THE W*I*K*I!
I'll give you a hint, turn off activesync before you open mtty...

Thanks, Legolas. Manage to get mtty to work. However, issue those two commands, does not fix the storage and white screen issue. Any other suggestion ? It checks all the block and they appear to be "good".
Thanks.

Missing a step?

I don't see in the log where you run task 32. Did it ever run?
LegolasTheElf suggested that step.
Hope that helps.

I think that means it fixed all those blocks. Guessing you may need to reflash now that it's reclaimed all that space. I sure would.

Reflash the OS after task 2a

THANKS A LOT !!! It fix my "missing storage" issue. Hope I am not asking too much, but it still does not fix the white screen issue. I read up the WIKI and task 28 is to format the NAND, should I try that ?
Cheers.

You *are* running 1.40.Oilpro SPL, right?

Yes, I am...could it be battery problem ? As when the whitescreen happen, I knock softly the phone on my palm and sometimes it will go away.
Cheers.

Sounds like a connection problem with the screen, IMO.

I'd go with battery

Thanks all, I should try to exchange the battery with my friend and test it for few days.
Cheers.

Does anybody know if there is a way to boot N560 using SD card? I think I killed my FS with some "rom killer" and all I get now is FS boot screen, no other activities.
Any way to start it from SD card and flash it from there?
Perhaps any other way to bring it back to life?

You cannot burn the ROM from an SD card.
If the device has had the anti-theft password set at some stage then you cannot reburn the ROM! This might be the problem?
A hard reset on the N560 followed by running the Loox burn program on a PC with ActiveSync connection to the N560 cradle is the only answer i.e. a normal ROM burn.

Theft protection is not a problem here. It was wrong ROM and now it is stuck on boot screen, active sync does not see it at all, maybe there is a trick to somehow anable burn, flash, service mode on it? So far nothing helps....

GREAT!!!!
Thanks ever so much! You are real HELP!!!!
You should close process "wcescomm.exe" on PC in task manager. Then hold button record, power and puch reset after that you will come in boot loader. Run the program mtty.1.42 and select usb connect. If You will see the any error just start again mtty. Put command l c:\os_213u.nbf (You should put correct flash file in c:\ or use correct path to os_213u.nbf, l - like L but small). When it will done You should start PocketLOOX5xxFlashTool.exe and flash you PDA.

You can if you use an translator like www.windowslivetranslator.com or translate.google.com
then it is pretty easy.
I've resolved...
Fully functional WM6.0 newplowe in English...
now I'm searching for editing it in Italian/French but I need to edit the rom part of the XIP (just that).
For doing that, I need to open decrypt the file .nbh file (don't really know howto, and newplow doesn't answer about that... ).
Hi everybody, I need your help. I spent 2 hours to read several posts about N560 brick recover, and I still can't figure how to do it.
I flashed the N560 with the WM 6.1 and then I tried to flash the backup Rom Image ... which failed. Now is stucked in the climbing image ... and is not reacting to nothing. I didn't try the mitty sol because I don't have a clear ideea about using it, I am still a newbie ...
Please, I am begging for help if you can , thanks

Try this?
Take the N560 off the cradle. Remove the battery for at least 30 seconds. Reinsert battery and back cover. Do not worry if the screen shows the dolphins again. Do a full hard reset to get back to factory setting i.e Simultaneously press and hold the Suspend/Resume button (1) and the Calendar application button (2). Briefly press the stylus tip into the soft reset opening (3). Continue to hold down the Suspend/Resume button and the Calendar application button for a few seconds. The reset can take a few minutes. At the end an acoustic signal sounds. Please follow the further instructions on the display.
A hard reset should put the device back to the existing (last burned ROM) and you can try the burn again.
You probably do not know why the burn originally failed. The most common reason is some interrupt of the processor (internet access, switch of all internet access) but more likely something is polling the USB port, which might be shared in the PC. My external USB TV tuner constantly polls the USB port and interrupts any transfers on other ports! I suggest that you disconnect all other USB devices and make sure that your N560 cradle is connected to a USB port directly on the motherboard of the PC (not a USB hub or expansion card with multiple USB ports).
Hope this helps.

I think you have received a reply from Newplow on his guestbook....
Hi
I tried to upgrade to 128mb but after restart I see only climbing. I tried everything here but on dolphins afterr line is blue it is finished. that I am unpluging device. starting looxflastool for 560 and first is trying to connect by active sync and that when no connection made I see dolphins on left screen of flash tool window. than I am pluging again and after couple secs I see that: Error"The language in this Flash Image update (ENGLISH) differs from that on your device. I tried to change rom on every language but not working as well. PLEASE HELP!!
if that helps than i will add than on top when delfins i see on 560 is two lines. first is typed 2.14.G4 on second directly below is 2.15.
and when mtty 1.42 finishing flashing i see following:
Image Download Finish
OEMFlashWrite(A0000000h,8C200000h,0224002Ah)
Download Fails !!!
OEMFlashWrite error(12)
Error : DownloadImage return error (code = 0xFFFFFFFF)
I've done already procedure You've mentioned here with taking of the battery for at least 30 secs with hard reset afterwards but it is still climibing screen. Can U manage this as well???
THX
The most common error with the procedure is NOT making a proper or true hard reset, or back to factory settings reset. If you do it wrong, you will only achieve a soft reset, the same as you get if you just put the stylus in the reset hole in the base of the N560.
The correct procedure is to hold Power/Resume/Suspend button (on/off button) and the Calendar button simultaneously. Keep holding them and with the other hand press in the reset hole with the stylus. The screen should blank out. KEEP holding the other two buttons all this time, and release the stylus. KEEP holding those two buttons until the screen display returns, only then release them.
This should allow another burn.
I hope this is the problem. It has happened to me and others, so I think I am right. But if this fails, you may need another approach.

Unlocked P3300 WM6 can't upgrade to WM6.1

Hi friends,
I recently purchased an unlocked HTC Artemis P3300 which has WM6 on it, I tried to flash WM6.1 but in vain, I tried the USPL and everytime it reaches the step where it's updating the image it gives me an error 270 file corrupt.
And I have tried to install Manila 2 TouchFlo on my WM6, but it seems to run out of RAM and the whole phone becomes very slow, if anyone has an idea about this, I'd be more than grateful.
I also have a 4GB SDHC card and I have tried with and without it and I still have the same issue.
Cheers,

p.s. i only flash that way, better even reflash a new rom twice! - i even do so with radio rom!

When your screen went blank, was that after the DOS screen finished? If so, USPL is not finished yet. RUU should automatically start and you flash the USPL (don't need activesync connected here but don't remove USB cable). Then your phone should automatically restart. Once restarted, activesync will re-establish and now you flash the new ROM.

Yes the screen goes blank while the USPL is working then after it reaches 100% the RUU kicks in but my screen is still blank and the activesync is grey and when I continue with it it tells that there's a connection problem.
I really appreciate your help but still can't seem to figure it out, does having a, SFHC has any effect on that ??

Yes, you should remove your SDHC card when updating. Start again with USPL but make sure your card has been removed. When RUU kicks in after DOS window shows 100%, my screen is blank too with Activesync disconnected, just continue with RUU to flash the new USPL.
After it reboots, run the RUU for the new WM6.1 ROM.
There's pdf instructions in the USPL thread if you're still having problems.

Now, you can run MTTY in Windows Vista and Windows 7. I've made a Video Tutorial Showing how. It's Step 2b on this page:

thanks for this and everything else, but again, i think that nothing is going to be easy for me...first, if i disconnect USB from mobile center, it's not in the computer management anymore...so i can't change the driver...next if i reconnect the USB connection, i can find it in the device manager but i can't change the driver because:
On my Vista home premium(32 bits operating system) : ''The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with windows for 32-bit systems.
and on my Win7(X64 Home Premium): it's the same message except for X64
BTW, it's not the first time that i tried to flash EOM from your signature and i can't go all the way to the process...don't know why, it did stop before the end...but i got the splash screen

Ok, I think I forgot to mention one step. Before you disconnect WMDC, be sure your phone is in Bootloader Tri-Color Screen Mode. (Also, before flashing any ROM, be sure to be in Bootloader Tri-Color Screen Mode. [Power/Camera/Reset]) Your Computer will Still be able to see the Phone in Device Manager after WMDC is Disabled.
I don't believe this will work on 64bit Windows. I tried and stopped after a couple failures.
I'm sorry your WLAN is not working still. That's not good and we will do our best to get you back to WiFi.
Looking at the Video again this morning, it does appear to go sort of fast. Hit Pause when needed to read the text pop-ups.
Next thing is I believe you may be selecting the wrong option when you browse for the driver. Be sure you are selecting the option: "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". If you get a warning that the driver is not the correct driver, BUT you have the option to go ahead with the installation, go ahead and install it. It's a Windows XP Driver, so Win7 will not suggest installing it. But when it's all over, you will be removing it again and reinstalling the Win7 Driver.

Also, be sure to delete the XP driver from Device Manager, and re-scan the system to install the original driver. And then, re-activate your USB Connection in WMDC.

You would still need to use SSPL_TRIN.exe to put the phone into a special Bootloader Mode because the OEM ROMs overwrite the HardSPL on your phone. This special mode allows that to happen.
Copy SSPL_TRIN.exe & your TRINIMG.nbh to your phone's SD Card Root. From your phone's File Explorer program, browse to your SD Card and tap SSPL_TRIN.exe to run it. If asked, go ahead and say "Yes". This will enter a special Bootloader from which you can flash the OEM's.
Only use this method to flash Back to OEM ROMs and NOT for Normal Flashing. You want to use the HardSPL's Bootloader to flash Cooked ROMs to protect your phone.
Download SSPL_TRIN.exe
And, remember, after flashing an OEM ROM, be sure to flash a HardSPL back on your phone BEFORE Flashing Custom ROMs again.
Sorry everyone for getting off topic. kabtv, if you need more help with this, PM me, I'd be happy to help.

Hi,
I have moved to hd, so I didn't come to this forum since then...
I will try to explain a little better the HSPL and official roms.
First, there are several HSPL for trinity. The best one is olipro 1.30, so this th eone we want to get into the trinity.
First the theory, in a .nbh file we have several parts: ipl, radio, spl, splash,os,extrom In an official rom contains all parts, a custom ROM normaly nowdays contains os only. Whith older kitchens contains splash+os
The HSPL of olipro is protected so it is not overwrited by the roms. So it is safer, and you can't get a brick if you don't flash the ipl part.
The SPL is the tricolor program, so when flashing you should view the spl that you have in the trinity.
Whith the customruu of the trinity there is a file called enterbootloader.exe which is transmited to the pda and executed to display the spl. This file is SSPL_TRIN.exe renamed.
Ok, so this are the scenarios:
1) you launch the romupdate whith as/wmdc connected:
Enterbootloader is transmited and executed -> Special SPL 1.07
So when flashing you will flash every part of the nbh (all for oficial, os for custom)
2) you enter manually in boot loader
The SPL in your device -> olipro 1.30
So when flashing you will flash only (ipl, splash,os,ext)
The safer method is to put manually the bootloader mode and flash. You can have the HSPL whith an offical ROM whithout worries. Though there is an exception: you want to update the radio.
If you want to update the radio use method one so you run the other SPL.

Touch Pro ROMs on Diamond?

Hi everyone!
I've been thinking...The Touch Pro and the Diamond are almost identical(except for Pro's hardware qwerty and Internal Memory/SD),but available ROMs differ significantly. So before trying anything I wanted to ask...Is there any way to flash a ROM for Touch Pro to Diamond?Without bricking or ruining it of course!
You should try it yourself - hope you're lucky enough to be the 1st who can flash Touch Pro to Diamond
But with the possibility of bricking my device?
no that wont happen, you will just be possible to flash a new diamond stock rom will it brick and then a custom rom
please try and give us feedback

Yes...Now that you mentioned it!
And how exactly do I flash a ROM from the internal storage?I renamed the nbh file to DIAMING.nbh and copied it to the root of my internal storage. Then I reseted while holding volume down key,got into bootloader(or whatever that screen which says what SPL I am using is called) but then nothing,it just stays there...What next?

oke you press: THE RED SOFT RESET BUTTON + VOL DOWN + BACK BUTTON (THE BUTTON WITH THE ARROW ON IT)
then you will be taken to the screen to flash

Right,it does try to flash, but I have encountered a minor issue...It says something about MoviNand MFG(Internal storage I guess?),goes past that and gets to a screen saying "Trigger USB Host...",I wait for a few seconds and then a message with red letters appears right below that says something about retrying with the usb...Then it goes all over again, but some distorted lines appear on the screen...And no matter how long I let it stay there it repeats again and again! Now what?Is that an "omen" of failure?
EDIT
Might it have something to do with the ROM's pagepool being at 24mb?It's a windows 6.5 ROM and as HELICOPTER88 has said, the diamond has less RAM than the pro...Trying again with 12mb pagepool.
EDIT 2
Nope...Same s**t again! It says "Retry connect USB"...And I think that for a fraction of a second it says "No Image Found"...

exactly what happens to me sometimes maybe do mtty then hard reset then flash
Bah...Tried another ROM(Energy series this time) and got the same problem...Also,when the screen says that it's loading, some red numbers appear above it...something like 005028 I think...Maybe an error?
Also,I have no idea on how to use MTTY and am a little afraid to tamper with my new Windows 7 installation which was a bane getting it to be how I wanted! Can anyone else try?Maybe someone of you is luckier than me!

No service

I got this phone today, made some trade, and when I put in my sim card, it says no service, when I turn of the phone mode, it cannot be turned back on, and when its on, it says "no service", and the same sim card in the same location works fine, so what can I do? Will installing a new ROM fix this or should I give this phone back?
Just restarted the phone, says: "The SIM card is not valid.
You can still make emergency calls if your service provider supports it."
Same thing happens when there is no SIM card inserted.
you should remove the sim card and sd card and go through the entire first post of the tutorial thread linked in my signature.
start with mtty and a full format of the device using the line "task 28 55aa".
then downgrade to wm2003, including flashing the old radio and extrom, then resize the extrom and upgrade the rom and the radio again.
that way, your device was entirely empty for once, then you start again from the beginning. it might take 2 hours, but after that, it should fully work again.
or, at least you will know, if it is a hardware defect
It was a hardware defect, those metal contacts that reach the back of a SIM card we're screwed up, I guess, so I took a small screwdriver and kind of lifted them up for a better contact, and surprise, surprise, it worked.
Thank you for your reply, anyway.

LOL "task 28 55aa" what is this??? "task 28" will already do!!!! "55aa" is absolutely unnecessary and will be ignored
As same as "task 28 1111" or "task 28 abcd"... doesn't matter!
55aa reparts the extrom as far as i know. at least to my experience. i usually use task 28 to wipe the device before flashing, but once due to the "no service" issue i used task 28 55aa to restore the original partitions.

Tnx for all ur help, but I quickly resolved a problem, didn't thought to do that in the first place. Anyway, battery seems really weak, it was about 50% when I went out biking and after an hour and a half of listening to music, it completely dried out. Backup battery was 100%, but still, the phone was off and was unusable. How do I switch to backup battery and should I? I'm really new into this.
