Re: Rayman Ultimate Crashes
Hey all,
I've been experiencing a problem with this game on both wm2k3 roms and wm5 roms which makes me think it's either a device issue or an actual glitch in the software rather than something in the OS...
basically, once u get to Mr Stone's Peak, u can complete the first stage, but very quickly in the 2nd stage, the game just exits of its own accord. i don't know if this is it crashing or what...
i was wondering if anyone else has been having similar problems or if anyone knows how to fix this?
i'm using an o2xdaIIs with wm5 (helmi aku 3.4)
the game is installed on my 2gb SD card.
i have 57.21mb free in main memory,
40.65mb free on internal, 27.47mb free in ramdisk, and 692mb free on the SD card.
i really have no idea what is wrong here... any help would be appreciated.
thx all~
-kdp
I was facing with similiar problems with software installed on SD card. Games were exiting to main screen, programs were respond slow, or working bad, blocking the phone. Removing of software was horrible, also (leaving icons in "programs" folder)...
So, based on my experience, it is much better to install soft on main memory, leaving SD card memory for videos, music, pics, etc...
thx for the suggestion... i tried moving the program over to my main memory and running from there... same problem...
Well, I don`t know anything about issues regarding this particular game; but, as I wrote before, I was having problems with 90% of software installed on memory card. So, from now on, all programs, games, etc. I am installing on main memory.

My Jasjam seems to be running slower. Could it be that it's being caused by a low level of Storage memory? I'm currently at:
Total - 49.33
In Use - 41.08
Free - 8.25
If this is a problem, what causes it? And can u suggest a way to fix it?
Thanks.
How many programs have you got running? Have you got the "x-key" program that doesn't just minimize but closes programs. Check out memory in settings and see just what is running. The more programs open the more ram being used and the more sluggish the phone. Its recommended to soft reset the phone once a day to refresh your ram too. Hope this helps, Cheers.
By the way, I've got a telstra jasjam too, I found the telstra rom a real Mongrel. It was loaded with stuff I didn't need and was painful. I've upgraded through various roms and am now using Faria-R32 Dr Puttingham WM6.1 HERMES ROM-CUSTOM+CLEAN. I like this as well as the shadow roms. Depends what you like but I wouldnt stay with the stock rom.
Ultra,
Thanks for the reply. I do have the "x-key". When I "stop all" in Settings / Memory, I still only have about 8Mb Storage Memory Free. Does this really matter?
I undrstand your comments about the Telstra ROM being full of garbage, but I've been reluctant to change form the standard Telstra ROM, as I had BIG problems with bluetooth under the old WM5 ROM, but under this one, it's all OK -- and I really need bluetooth to work properly. Is there a simple way of cleaning up the Telstra ROM? And would it help?
Cheers.
i think ultramag69 got a little confused........that's 8 megs storage memory, not program memory. That is reduced cause of the programs that you have installed.
anyone would tell you that almost any cooked rom here i better than a shipped rom. i dont really know what's in a telstra rom and without a hardreset or a reflash.......the only thing i can suggest is to uninstall bundled applications that you dont use. other than that all i can suggest is some registry tweaks, like using schap's advanced configuration tool
Not confused at all. I tend t find that some programs sit in the background consuming valuable memory while in essence doing nothing for you. As for cutting down the Telstra rom, Its not really going to happen. most of the Apps are cooked into the os with some in the extended rom. You might be able to get rid of Pool and Blackjack(?) but most don't appear in your Remove programs list. If bluetooth is all you're worried about though there are some fantastic roms out there that aren't bloated with Misc crap that work fine with the Bluetooth. I've personally never had that problem and I use the Bluetooth extensively. For speed look at the Naked lite roms but I can assure you that some of the other cooked roms while still having a large amount of stuff cooked in are STILL faster than the stock rom. You will have to see what you want for a good rom but if you decide to flash os I would suggest TNT SE. WM6 as this is a VERY stable rom(was for me) and I had no problems with it. Also had excellant bluetooth. Would also suggest HTC Bluetooth Quicklink as an app you might like. Sits on the today screen and connects to everything quickly. Good for Stereo headphones that wont stay connected for music. Hope this helps you out. Cheers
Hey all -
Great forum, and happy to be a member, here's my story, perhaps you can help.
I have just received a TYTN few weeks ago, and I am trying to make the best of it.
So far - I am frustrated, very frustrated!
Why? since I was a Palm OS user, which was so simple and fast, its nothing to compared to windows mobile.
I have tried over the past month several ROMs, per this forum's advice -
1) Black Satin Medium and Light
2) Schap's
3) Faria
4) Shadow 2.1
5) K's
and maybe a few more...the problem is that for each and every one of them I tackled, slowness and major memory problems - ones which forced mt to a soft reset to continue my work.
So what I am looking for - a ROM that will fit my machine's HW, not something too special or packed with apps, something simple that will have the basics, but will be fast and full of memory for programs, over 40 MB after cold boot.
any idea - which one for me?
BTW - up until now, Black Satin Medium was the best option.
I've got a couple of options for you.
#1, SuperDLite by Edhaas is very stable, good with program memory and has lots of storage memory. Has most of the things most people need, and very little fat.
#2, A newer ROM that I have been trying out lately is Shamanix's Ultimate V2 Final. It has a newer base than SuperDLite, and seems to be a very well-polished ROM. However, I have only tried it for about a week and can't speak of how it may fare in the long run.
Give those two a shot. I've a feeling one of them will be to you liking.
Thanks
I am wonderig - why do I nned big storage? if it was up to me I keep most of myh RAM for programs, I am installing all my apps on the storage card anyway...
so isn't what I need is something like 50 MB after cold boot?
haven't seen any ROM that provides this...
i use Pandora Naked 9b1 w/Big Storage - WM6.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365604
Memory Details:
Storage: 79 w/MMS, 82 w/o MMS
Program: 30
its fast and clean but u have to install progs when u need more dont forget to install .NET CF 3.5 if u wanna add extra progs

Think of big storage as having an 25 gallon gas tank on your car. Sure, you only drive your car to work and back everyday, so you don't need a very big tank. But who knows? You might want to travel cross country someday.
Anyway, just like there aren't many cars without big gas tanks these days, there aren't many ROMs without big (or super) storage these days.

With a Lite ROM you may just get a little over 30MB RAM after a cold boot. You will never see anything like 40MB and 50MB is purely in your fantasy.
Thanks
Hi All,
Thank you for the responsiveness, I will give those 3 ROMs a shot.
I simply cannot face the fact that from time to time I run iGo and get a message: "iGo needs at least 6MB to run"...
then I look at the memory usage and see that I have about 4 MB left - I am wondering how come? nothing is running, but there's is probably a Mem leak somewhere which I cannot for see.
I tried also to use Close Apps and Hibernate to free RAM, and I will use MemTools as well.
For now, it seems to be a "complicated and slow" OS for this machine, perhaps WM 5 (what originally came with it) is more appropriate for HTC TYTN (Hermes 200) hardware.
Wanna bet $$??????

Oh yeah baby, I'd bet that's a mem leak. Hibernate will help, but you had best hunt that sucker down. Check your Today plugins first.
And I think what ultramag was trying to say is that WM6 runs very smoothly on Hermes hardware. I have flashed many WM6 ROMs and there have been some real stinkers - but none were slower than the stock WM5 that was on my device.
Of course, you aren't the first person I have heard of complain that WM6 is slower than his WM5 stock ROM. You are the second. If a fresh install of your WM5 is running smoother and faster than the ROMs I recommended above then I want to know where I can get that ROM.
I think you'll find IGO is the problem. I had it on wm5 and wm6. Its a memory hog. keep clearing all the destination and trip lists and you shouldn't have a problem. This is why I moved to Tomtom 6. Its so much more stable and I've NEVER had a memory problem again. Hope this helps....
Looking at SuperDLite I see a few versions, which one would you reocmmned for speed:
DopodLite1.0HermesWM6.zip
DopodLiteV1.1-6mbPP-WM6.zip
DopodLiteV1.1WM6.zip
DPLHermesWM6V1.2a4mbPP.zip
DPLHermesWm6V1.2a6mbPP.zip
SuperD-LiteWM6Hermes4mbPP.rar
SuperD-LiteWM6Hermes6mbPP.rar
?
Re: speed
They're all quick. Theoretically the 1.2 and Super-D versions may be slightly faster because the windows directories have been minimized. Some people feel the 4mb page pool roms are slightly quicker than 6mb, but I prefer the 6mb (just "feels" better to me). Check the thread for more details.
Have fun!
I used the 1.2 version, its pretty quick, I am missing the "profiles" of V6.1 and the "today" screen features - is there a plgin to add them in?
In addiotn, touchFlo SL does not work on this ROM - any idea why?
Reply
Not sure what the profiles thing is, or what today screen features you're talking about exactly...
If you post a link to Touchflo SL I'll check it out.
I was going to suggest you post these questions on the Super-D thread, but then I see you're the OP and it's your thread to do what you want with!
Best wishes,
Thanks Ed, I will follow you request, so far the ROM is fast and snappy. I have a feeling that WM 6 are doing better on my TYTN then WM 6.1.
Just to clarify - By "profiles" I mean the feature in the today screen which give you the option to "vibrate" the phone ringer by schedule, i.e - if I have a meeting then the phone will automatically switch to vibrate.

Hi all,
This is my first post here.
I have flashed the InsertCoin stable ROM 03/06 and I have to say it's great (despite the video playback bug). Recently I found another issue that bothers me a lot.
The problem I found is that the ROM seems to be killing non-active apps too aggressively. I learnt if I press "home" button in an active app, it should stay for a while until it is killed to free up memory. However, in my phone, the non-active apps are always killed within one minute even when the phone isn't running out of memory. Why it is an issue to me? Because:
1) It is killing the browser too fast. Usually I switched to other app, do some work, and back to the browser. Since the browser is killed it has to reload the whole page to restore the state. This wastes time and data.
2) Most importantly It is killing my music app!! I tried fire up HTC's music app, select a song, tap to play, leave the app and do other things like web surfing. The music app would surely be killed in a minute. This happens to other music playing app like Winamp.
This makes my phone a relatively single tasking one. I didn't install any 3rd party task killer because I never needed one. But I cannot find any settings regarding this "feature" on my phone.
I found people in this forum seeking help on how to kill some background apps. What I want is the opposite: How to prevent some background apps to be killed.
Anyone here has similar problem and has found a solution?
Thanks in advance!
on 1.0.8 i had no problems
on v45 (which is last 2D Rose version) you need to flash pre46test.zip in order to fix agressive app killing.
other than that i never heard of any complaints regarding apps being killed too quickly.
Thanks, dzumagos. Yes I am running 1.0.8 and unfortunately this happens on my phone
Maybe I'll try flashing the nightly version (v51) to see if things improve.
Whatever you do, don't use task managers and other memory scripts. Every developer makes his own memory parameters which suit his rom the best, so I think you are best off pointing baadnwz to this issue and see what he says.

The ROM has HTC's ROM manager built in, and I didn't have any installed by myself. AFAIK the only difference between the Stable and Nightly version is the Rosie 3D homescreen that is missing in the Stable version, so I flashed 1.0.9 and unfortunately the problem persists.
And looks like I'm not eligible to ask on the development thread
Hello guys,
My phone seems a bit slower than it was before. Opening app takes time and so on. There are 1.6GB FREE on phone storage and 15GB on internal (SD) storage available.
Any suggestions what could i do to speed it up? Tried different roms, sense and now on aosp. Phone by itself works great but when i try to open for example camera360 it lags.
There are bunch of files left of some apps, empty folders and stuff in SD card, maybe that is the case?
Any ways to speed phone up? ROM suggestions please?
LagFix (free) worked for me

Hi!
Well, I had some problems with lag in many roms!
I recommend you to use Blade Elite 1.3.1, but this is just my personal opinion!
Of course, each rom has it's own features, depending on the user. Just chek it
Remember that HTC One x is a powerful quadcore smartphone, so, lags are not so commom, maybe your kernel or something like this..
Best regards! :good:
Lag on the OneX, if it has been in use for some time, can be the result of the very poor flash controller.
Try the above mentioned LagFix (fstrim). It's on the Play Store.
Hello,
I'm currently running Carbon Nightly Rom (CARBON-JB-NIGHTLY-20131117-1645) with kernel 3.0.64-CM-gd6f2f4a and I'm having massive issues with RAM and Storage. I've taken screenshots to get my point across as best as I can.
I'm strangely receiving abnormally low free RAM. Whenever I type a long text or a long paragraph, the programme i'm using will crash, giving the error "Whoops! ______ Has Crashed". I'm pretty sure this is because I'm running out of memory but I have all recent apps closed and I've looked at what apps I have running and there doesn't seem to be anything too extravagant.
The other major problem I'm getting is my internal phone storage. I have the 16GB internal storage model and after flashing my custom ROM(s) (Including gapps) I've ran all the way down to 10.46GB? Leaving only my phone 2GB or so leverage meaning I have to transfer photos and downloads, etc to my SD card a lot more frequently which Is becoming quite a nuisance. I don't have a ton of apps on my phone, and the ones that are on there are all used. Only 2.78GB of apps.
I really would like to get this fixed as I use my phone pretty much 24/7 and I just find the minor issues being the most annoying as you can imagine having to transfer every photo you take to your SD card every day(almost) as well as some apps crashing due to insufficient memory. I'd greatly appreciate your help!
Due to unable to post links, I've attached 2 screenshots that just show my problems.
Many Thanks!

Looking at the screen shots, my observation is that RAM is not the real issue here. It may be high considering you are running non-TW rom. However RAM usage in all TW ROMs also shows similar usage levels and they run perfectly on N7100.

I'm sorry but I'm quite noob at this! TWO ROMs? Could you elaborate and explain what these are and how they differ?
I was almost certain it was the RAM. Other people using same phone are using about 500MB just on applications. Mine is twice that? If I've got a handful of apps open, eventually one will crash, and keep crashing, how I fix it is simply clear my recent apps? Then it works fine again until there's too many recent apps again? I was certain it was RAM related because of it saying such low RAM when I had several apps open.
If it's not a problem with RAM, could you suggest on what it could be?
Cheers

TW: Touchwiz (Samsung stock based) I mean.
As I write, my RAM usage on my N7100 shows 1.33GB and the device is running perfectly. I am using TW based DN3 ROM with Note3 and S5 features (heavily loaded!)
Please install any other ROM and see and how your device performs. Also try TW based ROMs.

I'm using about 1.4GB with no recent apps (Thats just applications RAM) I have about 300-200MB RAM free which I thought was really low.
If I install a new ROM, wouldn't this effect my storage problem? With only 10.46GB left, Installing new ROMs will make this number get smaller and smaller right? Is there a way to remove software that Isn't being used?
Thanks!
update:
I Installed DiskInfo to see if I could find out where all this storage is being taken from. It's reporting that I'm using 7.7GB of data in the /data folder.
(Take a look at attachment for screenshot). So I had a look at this folder in ES File Explorer and the "dalvik-cache" folder says it's taking 448.26MB. Is this an abnormal amount? What would happen If I were to clear the dalvik-cache? In /data there is a folder which is titled 'backup' (/data/backup) but that is only 3.08KB so I don't think it's a backup taking the space. However, In the folder /data there is another folder named 'data' (/data/data) and this says its having 601.19MB within it.
I really would like to free up some internal storage but it only says that my internal storage is 10GB on a 16GB phone. Yes it was around 16GB before installing a new ROM.

You can clear cache and Dalvik cache from recovery.
System (ROM) will take 4-6GB space on on 16GB. Only balance will be available for you for apps and other data.
Meanwhile I guess you had wiped cachet/dalvik cache with every ROM installation. I suggest you test another rom and see the difference.

I cleared dalvik cache and applications cache. Didn't get much memory back as it reoptimized the apps after clearing the cache! I went around and unistalled apps I don't use. I didn't really want to result In it because I do use them, just not as frequently. But I got my internal storage space up to 4GB free.
As for RAM, I've not had much luck. Still using a ridiculous amount of memory with apps crashing whenever there is to much going on. I have to write in small sentences, send, small sentence, send, small sentence as a long paragraph etc would make the application crash, when I reopen the app, all the text would have gone. So this is starting to become a pain!
Any other suggestions that anyone can put forward?
