I know that some combinations of Radio 1.38 and WM6 were causing problems for some users. I was wondering if this is still a known issue or if it proved to be something else or was isolated. I upgraded to Radio 1.35 to let the dust settle. Anyone want to tell me if it is safe to go to 1.38?
You can see my config below.
(Yeah, I searched using forum search, google and the wiki. Couldn't find anything relatively definitive from a trusted source.) Thanks.
I am running 1.38 and Black 2.0 without a problem ... I earlier was one of the folks with disconnect problems with this radio and earlier WM6 ROMS ... but the radio seems to play nice and work well with both Black 2.0 and the latest LVSW ROMS (in my experience).
Thanks for the quick reply - I could not ask for a more trusted source.
Since your config so closely resembles mine, I am going to dive on in!
Thanks!
I PUT MINE BACK TO 1.34 I DIDNT LIKE 1.38 FOR SOME REASON IT JUST WASENT RIGHT sry for caps just noticed i am running pro blk 2.0 with 1.34 radio i have cingular and live in NY when in 3g areas my phone was using edge instead then if i put my phone in 3g only i would lose signal end result 1.34 is much better in my opinon
yo todd_jg how is 1.35 radio?
OK - did the upgrade and some limited testing.
BT, wifi, voice and edge data all check out and seem to be working as expected. Thanks again for the tips. Will report back if anything goes bad.
I have been using 1.38 since it come out with three different WM6 ROMs (WMXL 0.20, Chinese WM6 and Black 2.0) with no problems. Good luck.
1.38 + WM6 works GREAT for me!
1.38.30.10 radio + LVSW WM6 Edition (2007-03-26)
Seems no problem recent week~
I'm using 1.38.00.10 with Pro Black 2.0 and i'm expeirencing dropped calls and bad call quality. I was on the the phone with my girlfriend last night and it kept breaking up and dropping the call after 7+minutes of convo... i convinced her it was her phone (nokia 8800 sirrocco). But after the 5th or 6th time it did it i switched phones to a nokia 3500 i have laying around and guess what... Call quality is 10x better and no dropped calls for a good 40+minutes!
So which radio is next? i think i'm gonna go back down to 1.34 or should i go up to 1.28.30.10?
Black 2.0 and radio 1.38 even for me without any problem
yes been running lvsw roms & 1.38 radio.. no problem
Seems to work fine here also..

Using Black 2.0 and working and living 80% of the time in an EDGE area, I get about 13-16 hours daily use.
I'm not sure about high speed or 3G only areas.
Not the best but I can live with it.
I've been running Black 2.0 and 1.38 for the last 4 days and it's been rock solid.
I live in a 3G area and with moderate use I'm down to 60% battery by the end of the day.
Moderate use..5 or 6 calls, MS Exchange push email on all day and the odd Text.
So well happy with the combination.
Looking forward to Black 2.5!
Agreed battery life has been awesome since going to Black v2.0..

1.34 HAS NO PROBLEMS BUT it depends where u live i am in ny 1.34 is good 1.38 sucks for me and battery life is good on all if u use htc tweak
I also had problems with Radio 1.38, a large amount of dropped calls, unable to answer calls, calls straight to VM etc, so I went back to 1.34. Still having probs with reception but with far less frequency. Have used different Rom Versions, Black 2, LVSW, 3DES, all with similar probs.
Hi, I tested all versions which come out from trinity or hermes, had no problem till now, now I am on 1.38.00.11 GPS, work like a charm, in our town is 3G, edge or gprs, I have no problem, tested on lvsw, 3des, vanilla and XDA... maybe I have luck after all...
i was on .11 before but i noticed i had full bars and people are going straight into voicemail, so i switched it over to .10, so far so good, but last night i noticed acall dropped after 45 min of talking...i lost reception and regained it really quickly...im gonna stick with .10

Hi everybody,
the aim of this post is to clarify if there is a direct relationship between WM5 original ROMs and WM6 cooked ROMs.
I have read different posts from users asking about the different behavior of the battery performance after installing WM6. In general, it seems that each user has a different experience about the battery life.
Is it possible? Depend on th Radio version?
I report my experience:
- Original WM5 - Radio 1.27 --> average life 55 hrs.
- LSVW 15/3 WM6 - Radio 1.34 --> average life 39 hrs.
- Black 2.0 WM6 - Radio 1.34 --> average life 33 hrs.
(these values are obtained with the same usage of the HERMES applications: in terms of GSM calls, BT connections, and usage of the installed software. Of course, it is not important the absolute values in hours between two consecutive recharges, but it is important to note the trend: the battery life is halved! )
I would like to know the comment from the expert users: is related to WM6 ROMs? Depends also on the Radio version? Any suggestions ...
Thanks in advance for any replies from you about this topic.
I hope that this post could be useful to clarify this point and to better explain if there is some relationship between WM5 and WM6 on the battery consumption.

WM6 ROM: Black 2.0
Radio: 1.34
Those numbers seem low to me... I've had the opposite experience. When I had the stock 8525 from Cingular, I could only manage about 36 hours on it. The leaked Cingular AKU 3 build gave me about 42~44 hours. WM6 builds using Radio 1.34 gave me just under 48 hours. Radio 1.38 was a step backwards in giving me just under 20 hours of battery life. So far with the new Cingular radio, I am still going on my last charge from Saturday morning, so easily 60+ hours (I'm at 30% charge left now).
I'm always on 3G and have direct push pushing about 200 emails a day. My voice calls only total my 20 minutes a day with bluetooth on continuously.
Much depends on your signal strength - I have full strength at work and at home. Another person I know who has the 8525 and only half strength signals has their battery life cut by 40%...
Batt Life
I switched over from the generic Cingular radio rom (acquired the device back in beginning of Dec 06) to Black 2.0 with the latest and greatest radio rom. I have to say... My batt life trebled with this new configuration on 3g. Used to be that just a couple of phone calls with push mail, and my battery would be pretty low after 3-4 hours. Sorry that I can't be more specific, but I am loving the new config.

i went to 1.4...i have terrible battery life...any suggestions?
maybe a bit more info might help...1.4 radio...lslw...3/24 the newest one...running im+...thats it...batt runs out in like 4 hours
please buy a new battery
With Black 2 and 1.35.00.11 my battery life is better than wm5 (about 30%)with an old Vodafone (primitive) radio...
EDIT
with wm5 and old radio about 25/30 hrs (used only like a hard GPRS modem pc. Continue connection: 4hrs)
wm6 black 2 radio 1.35.00.11 about 40 hrs (used only like a hard GPRS modem pc. Continue connection now about 5 hrs)
I use Black v2.0, 3G email and bluetooth a couple of hours a day, not much calls, and my battery won't make it through the day...
I get around 6-8 hrs this way, and before Black (WM5 Tytn, default ROM's) it was even worse...
Guess that's not right
edit: It appears that I'm not the only one having these problems. Guess it's kinda odd that some ppl have 40+ hrs, and some others 4+ with the same device. Any ideas on this one?
i have the same problem too, with the newest lvsw an black roms.
no problem with latest htc wwe rom.

I have the same problem when I run IM+, that program seems to destroy my battery in a few hours. If I don't use it, I can get a couple of days out of my battery with maybe 20 or so texts a day,e-mail being checked every 15 min, some light internet browsing, and maybe 20 minutes of phone usage.
Upgrading to the 1.40.30 radio seems to have helped helped a lot. I used to have to charge daily on 1.38 and 1.34. Now it is every two, or so.

I don't use im+ personally but I know a few people who do and it can drain the battery.
I recently upgraded to the 1.4 radio (using lvsw 4/8) and that improved my battery. What REALLY helped though was removing the a2dp.exe from the start-up. This is a utility that may help a2dp quality. i personally have not experienced the a2dp issues that some have so this utility didn't do much in my case- and the battery life is much better now. if you are using lvsw 3/24 though, i think this utility was not included yet.
I am a med to heavy user- 2 hours .wma playback a day over stereo bluetooth. bluetooth always on. 1 hour or so web usage and emails all day. My battery used to die at around 7:00pm but now it will last through the day with 20% to go before i turn in at 10:30ish.
If you are going to benchmark the OS only with repsect to battery life, ensure you have the SAME radio in both WM5 and WM6 varients because the RADIO rom does impact battery consumption.

Hi Jasjamming,
thanks for your reply, and compliment for the BLACK 2.0 ROM!
I'm very happy of this ROM: fast and stable
About the battery, do you have some suggestions on the RADIO?
For instance, the two WM6 ROMs, which I have tested, were with the same RADIO (1.34), but I have noticed some performance degradation ...
In your experience, increasing the RADIO version, the battery life is improved?
Otherwise, I will try to come back to older RADIO version.

Bit of a Trick Question
There are so many things that effect batt life. Everyone will use their devices differently for different purposes. So its really hard to properly survey this.
My original WM5 rom n radio gave me about a day and half down to less than a day depending on the amount and length of calls. Also wifi usage dramatically decreased batt life.
My current config of BE 2.0 and Radio 1.40 gives me 2 days of juice but again if I make alot of calls it can still be drained in a day. Use wifi a few times as well and it will be charging in under 8 hours. I have bluetooth on permanently.
If you really want long batt life lend your hermes to your mum or grandfather.
You may not even notice
It's really hard to pinpoint what affects battery life, but keep in mind that if you are in an area with low reception, your battery will drain faster. And if you are in areas with 3G/HSDPA avialability, the same goes, even if you don't receive any calls. So depending on where you are in a day, and how you move about, your radio will have to work more or less, which means the only sensible measurement is to measure average battery life for say a month with WM5, then another month with WM6.
Personally I have a feeling that I get better battery life with never radio and WM6, but I am fairly certain the main issue is the radio, not the OS (I was in flight mode a lot last week while travelling, and got fantastic battery life even when using heavily, constantly reading and listening to music).

That's what I experience as well. In flight mode, my battery drains about 10% in 8 hours, and (as I posted above) while the radio is turned on, it's down to zero in the same amount of time. I live in an area with HSDPA coverage, but also have the 1.38 radio. So while that is one of the latest radio's, my battery life is horrible.
K-Mile
Have your tried switching your band to gsm instead of Auto?
This doubled my battery life.
I now only turn on High speed if and when I need it. Rest of the time am quite happy with lower speed.
Another important factor that drains battery is your mobile operator - different operators implement it differently - eg in Japan, on NTT Docomo/Softbank networks my x01ht's battery's life was excellent. In Malaysia, under Maxis it sucks. So this comparison doesn't really hold. You can only compare if i you're on :
1. same ROM
2. same radio
3. same network (!)
Last week i went from radio 1.38.00.11 to 1.40.00.30 and i have noticed a huge increase in battery life. Im sure its lasting at least twice as long on 40 as it was on 38! Not installed anything new since changing the radio and i run on GSM only as vodafone has bugger all 3G in my area. I recomend radio 1.40.30.00 to anyone who is suffering with battery life, but as ever, please read everything before flashing as i wouldnt want anyone to brick their phone
Hi,
I have Black 2.0 installed, My battery drains fast (Radio 1.38). With Radio 1.40 my battery drains faster.
Regards,
Taguapire.
Am on 1.16 radio, had WM5, when hammered the phone would last ~ 16 hours maybe, this was with 3G enabled...
Upgraded to WM6, manually in 'G' mode, mainly use texting and emails, ~ 10 texts a day and ~10 emails, push permanently on, plus odd surfing, lots of calender and scheduling, ~30 minute calls etc. will only lose 10% battery life a day! Amazing! Was only down to 80% by day 2, but then I usually charge anyway so havent tried a full 100%-0% rundown.
So I guestimate with light use it should run for at least....a week without needing a charge.
Hi all,
I have been experiencing with different ROM'OS and radio versions, I am finally with Faman's 3.2 release and 1.46.00.11 for the radio. I read that the autonomy is around 200hours in GSM mode and about 180 in UMTS.
My question : Does anyone reach those numbers ? I mean, I have just activated direct push (via emoze) and since 8 AM I am already at 50% with only about 15mins of phone calling and 30min of mp3 listening plus something like 10 emails received and it's only 4:30 PM. At this rate, by tomorrow morning the battery will be empty, are you guys in the same situation ? Do we really need to charge the device every day when using direct push ? I beleive I have good cover in my office (4 bars + 3G) even though I moved quite alot in the building today, still, I don't think blackberrys need to be charged that often..
What do you think ?
Have a good day everyone !
Since I have been using (cooked) WM6, I have been unable to reach those numbers. I have an active 3G connection with HSDPA and my battery would have to be charged after 48 hrs. But, I'm using it for business puproses so it is my cradle most of the time. Anyway, using bepe's .76 ROM and 1.46.00.11 RADIO. Tried many other combinations, none utilizes the battery better than the orginal HTC WM5 rom/radio.
Let's just hope that HTC will at some point release a wm6 something for our P3600s then because that's really a killer :/

I would be interested to hear your experiences with MARY 1.2 and the same Radio. (1.46.00.11) I'm getting the best battery life (even better than WM5) with this combo. MARY 2.0 killed my battery - and I had problems with the battery with some of the latest bepe ROMs - bepe is a legend tho - think it's the core being used. Let me know.
Ok, so my battery basically lasted 14hours in active 3G mode. Pretty cool Do we know if it's because of the ROM os or more the radio ?

I think he's talking about MARY V1.2 with radio 1.46.00.11. It's the best battery combo I've tried and a lightning quick ROM IMHO. I'm currently cooking myself a ROM from it - and will release if hellonasty is OK with that.

Please do because the battery use is really good, just having some software problems with 1.2. Hoping your release, or 2.02 will be better
I just realized that my battery life kinda sucks. I'm down to one day with moderate use.
Had a full charge about 7am, brightness is one from lowest setting, used Live search for about 10min at lunch and IE at the same time, listened to the radio for about an hour, made 3 phone calls for a total of about 25min worth of talk time - 2 of which were using BT (only had BT on when I was in the car). I'm home now and I'm at 33%.
Maybe it was the radio. Other than that, the phones been sitting for most of the day. How about others?
What Radio version are you using
Hi,
What is the Radio version you are using it depends mainly on them some versions it drain the battery I've tried a couple of days a new Radio version 1.54 it is a lot better and I found the battery can stay for about two days average use compaired to the previous Radio version, I have a TyTn HTC is going ok with this settings.

Thanx for the link. I missed that post. I guess I just run USPL first, then this? My last ROM upgrade had the USPL prog included in it. Is there a link for just the USPL or do I need to run that at all?
If your spl is 1.11.0000 you don't need to run it again.

Thanx but I just ran SPL anyway, and updated the radio. Everything went well.
After running USPL, I had the problem again with the slow scrolling that I posted about before. Everthing was just running really slow. Then, after I upgraded the radio, it was fast again. (I have no idea why this happens) THen I turned on the phone and TomTom (without Quick GPS) and got 3 to 4 sats in my house for the first time in like 1min. That was the fastest ever. Does this radio version improve GPS as well or is this just a coincidence? However, I'm just happy that I don't have to hard reset again. Will test the battery life tomorrow. Thanx.
BTW: Where do you look to see the SPL version on the phone?
Maybe a coincidence - spl on first splash screen
I haven't noticed any differences. My radio version is 2.98.90, I don't know if it was that to start with or it came with the B&B 4.2 upgrade. I get about 1.5 days with moderate to heavy use, and just about 2 days max.
how do you install this?
hi guys!
Same problem with Battery life on Artemis with WM6!
with WM5, i sure got 2-3 days. and now its just upto one day. By evening my battery is down to 15-30%.
I have tried draining the battery completely and then charging it all night, but this doesnt improve battery life either.
I am using Radio 2.98.90
Hello,
my radio version is 2.98.90 too, and at home, I haven't a really good GSM-receipt (I hope, you'll understand me, my English is terrible). That's the reason why my battery time is really short. Try to disable the GSM and look, if your runtime is much longer.

Looks like my battery life has improved a little. After 8hrs of medium use, I still had 69% batt life. Pretty good. But I also have to report two incidences where I could not answer a call or make a call- reset needed. Got a message saying that the signal may not be avail and I had a full signal?! This has never happened before this radio upgrade. Any reports of this from others?
Other than that, everything else seems fine. May try to reflash later on if I still have this problem, but if it still persists, I'll look for another radio. Not being able to answer calls is a real PIA in business if you know what I mean.
i just tried removing battery status from the today screen and my battery life is good again.... could this be a problem then?
so what is the verdict here? i had a mda compact 2 and the bateyr lasted 5-6 days of FULL use
i upgraded to mda compact 3 and stragight away put wm6 cooked roms on it - ive tried most of them on here including the official wm6 - all seem to only give me about a day batteyr life????
something cant be right here? after half a day im down to 47% odd
Phones should surely last 2/3 days? especially a Mda/Pda???
what is it that drains a battery? is it the programs running, installed ????
ive just installed wm5 again to see if its any better, could i have possibly burnt out my batteyr by cooking so many Roms on it??
someone help as this is driving me crazy!
Battery life is good. With GPS and 234Mhz 6hours.

I'm still testing but so far, after upgrading my radio to 2.98.90, I'm at 74% by the end of the day with moderate use. I'm trying to keep the same ROM and not hard reset for a while to see if it improves more (I like to drain the battery to the end and then recharge) . So, I'm at like 2 days with the new radio. This is sufficient for me since I keep a charger around anyway.
Battery life ist around 6-8 days!
Plain WM6 (from o2) firmware with BatteryStatus, Calendar+ on today screen. Bluetooth and WLAN off, some SMS a week, around 5-10 minutes telephone calls a week. Using calendar and contacts regularly some times a day. Using Tomeraider, iSilo, Mobipocket, TomTom/NoniGPSPlot, etc. some times a week. No other system utilities beside BatteryStatus installed!
Surfing over WLAN: battery is empty after 2-3 hours.
I have no problems
Regards,
Manuel
PS: Background light is faulty since last week: background light is completely off on setting 1+2, sometimes even on setting 3, and it flickers permanently. Xda Orbit goes back to o2 next week.

Hi,
if you have a battery drain problem you should check your programs first. There are some which really cause high consumption in the background...
so anyone complaining should list his installed progs!

If I can save on battery life and have the same good reception then I'm willing to take a risk of flashing. I don't care about 3G etc, only voice.
I've tried all of them, and I keep going back to 1.48. Works the best for me.

Yeah, that's what I heard. Where do I get it from? Is the 1.48 on this page is good (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms)?
I agree, 1.48 has given my the best results on the east coast.
1.48.10
I am in Michigan and get the best reception/batt life with 1.48.10
I am also however in a non 3G area as of yet, so I dont know how the reception is in a 3G area.

Your quote says you on 1.35. Anyway, where did you get 1.48.10?
Actually, you are not on the latest radio... 1.54.30.10 is the latest and I find that it works really well... I just have a lot of stuff going on, such as constant pulling of POP and Exchange email and Emoze, which monitors a different exchange account... Will all of that, I still get an easy 8 hours or so, before having to recharge.... I have gotten the best reception with this radio as well... And I am in NJ....

Can you install acbPowerMeter and see what is your average power consumption is with only voice and bluetooth enabled and phone in idle mode (screen is off etc)
I was getting around 50-60 mA on old radio and about 20-30 with newly "upgraded" 1.48 one.
1.48's good here in Hellaware. Good GSM signal, and full 3Gizzle signal in most places. I had 1.54 but couldn't stand the battery drain...
I'm using 1.54.30.10 as well. It seems like the same battery life, however I haven't tested with the above suggested software. I can say that I can pick up 3g in places the other radios couldn't. At least it is a lot quicker to detect and use 3g than 1.54 or 1.50. I don't recall if I used 1.48 or not. I'm also in NJ. Good luck.
1.48 works great for me down here in FL, and when I was visiting up in NJ.

The biggest question for me and others probably how battery life compared to newer version of Radio. I definetely saw improment (see my previous post) when downgraded to 1.48, was wondering if somebody with newer radio can run the same utility and see their power consumption.
In NJ, AT&T
I am running 1.50.00. Previously used 1.40.30 and 1.48. 1.48 seemed to be the best of the lot but 1.50 is nearly as good so I stick with it. I found that 1.48 had the best balance of signal strength and battery life. I think 1.50 has a slightly better signal strength, but somewhat lower battery life than 1.48.

Where can I find acbPowerMeter? I will load and compare for you.
I've been running 1.54.00.10 since the day it came out. It has been the best compromise of battery life and recepction for me. I live in NJ too.

So it seems like my (US) TP2 is not getting very good reception at all. Internet sluggishly putters along and i rarely get above 3 bars. My old tilt had far better reception than this phone in the same areas im comparing them to now. Should I take my phone back to ATT and get a new one? or are the US att tilts just prone to poor reception? If so, any way to rectify this or boost my signal?
edit: Also phone seems to be very sluggish at times and needs soft resets quite a bit.. is this a problem with the stock ROM or is there a way to free up some memory by removing some hidden background programs that are pointless?
i think its the phone because on my tmobile tp2 i know of 1 dead zone where my mom gets no service at all with her phone and neither did i with my lg vu but since i got this phone i get 1-2 bars. did u flash the radio or anything?
USCC version works Great!
I don't know if it is the equipment fully. I have the USCC version of the TP2, and I gotta tell you. with my first TP I got 1 bar of signal. My ex, has a regular phone and she gets 2 bars. But When I sit in the living room here, I get four bars. I have better signal with the Tp2 than I have had with any other phone. I have been highly impressed with the signal so far.
I have my RHOD300 (Tilt2) on AT&T's network running Radio 4.49.25.17, and I've never had a better connection than on this phone. On my original Tilt, I only got a few bars and EDGE at my house, but with the radio listed above on my Rhodium, I get HSDPA at my house and everywhere else, and with 3 or 4 bars.
Also, carrier ROMs suck. That's why a good majority of the people here flash cooked ROMs. Most of the time, stock ROMs are completely bloated to the point where the device is notably slowed. Cooked ROMs, on the other hand, focus more on performance than free trials of crappy J2ME games and as a result are much faster. Flashing a new radio may also help with reception. As myself and many others have concluded, 4.49.25.17 is an excellent radio for most people.
However, if you don't want to flash a cooked ROM, then you might want to try this instead. That link tells how to manually remove all the AT&T crap they put on those devices, and should provide a little performance boost as well as some extra storage space.
I'm using the stock ROM on a Tilt 2 and the reception is the best of any phone I've had. (LOTS better than my wife's Nokia 5800...) The phone was a bit sluggish out of the box, but after applying the tweaks in the tweak threads, I'm very happy with the phone. Disabling Push internet helped a lot, as well as the Opera tweaks. The GPS tweaks are essential with this phone. Out of the box the GPS is really crappy. With the tweaks applied it works pretty good. Just look for the two tweak threads. One is a sticky in this sub forum. The other is the tweak thread specifically for the Tilt 2 version, and is not a sticky. (But it should be! )
The reception on this phone is like doubled compard to my Fuze. It used to be about every 20 minutes or so I'd lose reception at my desk but now it happens once a day max.
That depends on your mobile carrier and the area you live in
I had the original Tilt for a year then the Fuze for a year and now the Tilt 2 for the last month. Overall the Tilt 2 reception is at least as good as the other two. But I never had problems with the reception on any of them.
As others I get great reception on my Tilt2. However I've noticed AT&T's network get slower and slower over the last few months. Try seeing if you get the same sluggishness when you use a WiFi connection.
As far as the software itself, I was going to stick with the stock ROM for at least a week or two but performance was so bad that I switched to a custom rom. Absolutely worth it, the device runs so much smoother without all the AT&T bloat.

I have att also, do you have a link to that radio cause mine is 4.48.25.20 and would love to see if version would work better as far as reception. I live in south jersey, and the 3G network is near dead with the flood of Iphones sucking up all the bandwidth, but my bars are always changing from 0-3 at least 3 or 4 times every 30 seconds.

lol, I know what you mean, here's a link to 4.49.25.17. All other known Rhodium radios can be found here. Hope that helps
Ok seems as though I am going to be needing to flash to a cooked ROM my only fear is bricking my phone since i am a complete noob to flashing anything my tilt1 went 2+ years and i didnt put a thing on it! so it looks like i will look into the different radio option as well as cleaning up the ATT programs that are taking up space unti i gather up the strength to hopefully not brick my tilt!
Edit: Downloaded the newer radio version, how do i go about installing this? I unpack the rar and am left with a rhodium custom RUU executable?
also how do i upgrade the GPS? Google maps and trapster are somewhat useless since its so slow to pan through it effectively and timely
bump to the top

To flash a new radio, here's what you need to do: You should have an EXE called CustomRUU and an NBH file called either RUU_SIGNED.NBH or RHODIMG.NBH. Connect your device via USB, wait until ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center recognizes your device, and then run CustomRUU.exe. If you get an antivirus warning, ignore it. Follow the instructions that CustomRUU.exe gives you, and you should be fine. If flashing a new radio doesn't work for some reason, you might need HardSPL. I don't think you need HardSPL for signed radio installs, but I'm not 100% sure.
The GPS is controlled by the Radio, so changing to another radio may help with this. I recommend using QuickGPS if it is included in your phone's ROM, as well as downloading Schap's Advanced Config and enabling AGPS under the GPS options in Advanced Config.

Thanx for pointing me to the radio, I installed it, and someone found the hack to shutoff the 3G band since 3G is dead here as I said, and the 2G signal is amazing, I consistently 85% of the time have 5 bars, I've never had that with my fuze, in 3G or 2G, so happy that my battery isnt being drained anymore because of the bouncing between 2G and 3G.
I installed the latest radio (ending in .57 I think) on my T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 and my EDGE signal couldn't be any better! My neighborhood is a "Fair" patch on the map but now I easily get 3 bars inside when making calls, sometimes I see one bar but it's usually 2-3 bars vs 1-2. Idle I can get 4 but once you place a call it goes back down to 3.
