Remote VNC Client

anyone know where i can purchase a VNC Client so that I can install it on my 8525 using WM6 Black Edition 1.2 ?
Thanks.
Doesn't VNC work with a web browser? If so, what happens if you try accessing your server that way?
-Steve
well yes, but you can have the server installed on your pc, and have the client isntalled on a remote PC... I used to be a previous Palm OS user, and I used to connect to my PC at home using PalmVNC.
Is there a VNC program i can use that i can install on my 8525?
Here you go
Copy exe to sd card or phone and run.
out of curiosity, has anyone tried the remote desktop function in wm6??? i use the vnc for ppc also, and havent made a full commitment to wm6 yet... now that i think about it.. i bet you have to have remote desktop on the pc turned on... fk that
thanks alot man!!! works like a charm!
I'm using this one:
http://www.freewareppc.com/docs/netvncviewer.shtml

yes it works good... scaling is a B*tch but it works.... I like USING VNC better.
is it possible to extract the ".exe" files and have them displayed in the Programs area?
i just create a shortcut.... i take the file, store it on the card, tick and hold till your menu comes up, tick copy, then point your file explorer to windows\start menu\programs then in the folder tick and hold for your menu, select copy shortcut. From there i usually edit the file name so it doesnt say shortcut, then your done!
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet thanks!!!! Im still getting used to WM.. Been a Palm OS user since May 05
Here's a GREAT viewer from RealVNC, freeware:

this is the one i use... it works great... but needs a little tweaking
Personally i use .net VNC Viewer and UltraVNC server.
.net VNC Viewer can handle server side scaling.
This means smaller image and less traffic .

Editing Conacts on Desktop

Hello everybody!
anyone knows a good, preferably free tool, which allows to edit the contacts on the pda on a desktop pc? i am not using outlook...
thx,
krz
You could use thunderbird and other free tools to sync your contacts/calendar/mail and in this way edit your contacts on a desktop pc.
Read this: http://www.downloadsquad.com/2007/02/26/how-to-sync-your-pocket-pc-with-thunderbird-mobile-minute/
thx, LGSilva, for your answer. this is not a bad idea, but still not what i am looking for...
maybe there is no such thing, like a standalone contacts editor...?
Found another solution for you: http://www.mymobiler.com/
My Mobiler v1.0 (06/24/2007) - FREEWARE
View your mobile screen on your desktop.
Control your mobile by using desktop keyboard and mouse.
Copy/Paste text between mobile and desktop.
Capture mobile screen.
Drag and drop files to your mobile.
Requires ActiveSync connection.

wow, very cool indeed!
thx, LGSilva!

problem with messnger live

i updated my hermes rom with this one RUU_Hermes_O2_UK_3.54.206.1_6275_1.47.00.00_108_Ship.exe.
in beginning i havent realized the problem. but now when i sing in windows live. all my contacts look as if they are offline even they are online.
any idea?
are you logged into MESSENGER (inside windows live)
yes i did.
by the way, i did hard reset then msn live worked great but when i finished installing all application that im using for ppc. msn live gives same error.
installed applications are;
spb gprs monitor
spb backup
tcmpmp
ectaco language teacher
spb mobile shell
resco audio recorder
resco file explorer
rarlab pocket rar
anton tomov pocket mechanic
anton tomov hack master
macromedia flash player activeX
macromedia flash player
sotip pocket controller
adobe reader for ppc
molski.nl customizing tweaks
molski.nl performance registry tweaks
dunno, try pocket msn instead
http://rapidshare.com/files/47182230/Pocket_MSN.CAB.html
thnx for helping aameerp
if i couldnt find any solution for msn live, im gonna use pocket_msn.cab
windows live build
is the windows live version build you are using hard-cooked into the rom?
or is it a *.cab based installation, if so what build is it?
build 1400 is reportedly most stable and i've never had any problems
i've attached a *.cab file of windows live build 1400 and pocket msn (i couldn't attach pocket msn earlier-some people dislike rapidshare)
if you've got backup copies of your software, and are able to backup your data, contacts, sms etc. you could try another rom, i've used most and have never had such problems with windows live
aameerp,
Does the Windows Live CAB you posted prioritize GPRS/HSDPA as it's means of connection rather than WiFi? The version included in the AT&T WM6 connects through GPRS first and if you cancel it, then it goes to WiFi. I'd rather not have to do this every time. Thanks in advance.

Mobil Printing & PDF Converter for PPC WM 6

Dear Memebers,
Does anybody know about good freeware to convert office docs in PDF on my HTC 100 with WM 6 professional?
Does anybody know about freeware for mobile printing using: bluetooth, WiFi, IR (like HP mobil printing SKD)
Would appreciate any information about links to those exe. or CAB. files.
Thank you!
Kind regards
Just happened to see your question...

Remotecontrol PC from Touch HD

Hi Guys,
im looking for a tool to Administrate my PC at home over my touch HD (over the www). Any Idea ??
Thanks
Eat
I recommend that you use the included remote destkop software or VNC. VNC is often easier to setup with firewalls and such.

Hi I use UltraVNC on my Desktop and Notebooks and have discovered VNC for Windows Mobiles from Mochasoft works pretty good.
Cheers
Alan
logmein, you'll need to use IE rather than opera on your phone and the full keyboard not the touch friendly versions. I find it works very well and its free!
Thx for the answer
logmein is very nice, but only if u have a good connection like umts.
with edge is it very slow, but it works
i test VNC next
try some of the settings in the tools menu in logmein, quality and speed settings here. I found logmein quite fast compared to VNC or remote desktop.
You should also give RDM+ a try; i've been using it for a while and it works great.

Yes I have tied the included remote desktop software. However I did not manage to set it up to my own computer because of my firewalls but I could connect to other remote desktop servers.
I use VNC now, far easier to get everything to work and lots of options available.
ok i tried:
- Remote Desktop
- VNC
All of this services works without any problem, but the best and fastes way is VNC 4 me, i love it (thx 4 the tip)
EDIT: @ Torusy
Firewallsettings 4 Remote Desktop: open TCP port 3389

thanks for the information. Sadly I already knew about that part and had forwarded the ports and such still it was abit to messy with my firewall. And I like to follow my rule: when you can avoid software from Microsoft do it and yes im aware that im using Windows Mobile 6.1 by Microsoft
logmein.com
i've used the above, and it works well, the only draw back being though, unless you have a good data connection, it can be flustrating waiting for the action to happen at the other end...
other than that - yes try it.... well worth ago, as its free for the basic service!

I am trying the trial version but on their website it nowhere says how to setup a connection. Yeah i get this:
* VNC IP Address: Name of the VNC Server. Either a TCP/IP address as 155.22.11.2 or a DNS name.
* Port numberort number for the session. As default VNC uses port 5900 for Windows VNC servers, and UNIX/Linux uses 5901
* MS-Logon: UltraVNC can use the user ID/Password from the Windows OS
* User: Only valid for MS-Logon
* Password: Password for the VNC Server.
* Remember user/password: VNC will write the password to a local registry. Gives limited security!
But i dont know the VNC server, the password, or how to achieve those. How do they expect me to learn this? What do i need to setup on my PC in order to achieve those informations. RDM+ explains this much better, you have to setup a PC client, a WM client you get the password, and your done. But i was wanting to try out the mochasoft one to see if its any better, but cant seem to get an easy setup. Could someone please explain what i need to fill in to get a connection to my pc?
The fastest solution is the remote desktop, which is preinstalled on the Touch HD. You need at least XP Professional or Vista Business otherwise Windows has only the client and not the server service.
xp home
I have a Windows XP Home, and the build-in remote desktop software don't work then.
I Use UltraVNC on my pc and Mocha VNC on my HD, and i works ok, but it's a bit slow.

I don't know if this would help, but this was what I did:
VNC Server IP Address:
XXX.XXX.X.XXX:5900 (my ip address : port number)
Password:
(Right click on the icon in the taskbar on the server PC, and select Admin Properties. Fill the box at "VNC Authentification" with a password.)
Fill in the password on the Touch HD at "VNC Password, optional".
Then it just worked on my PC, but I don't know if your computer/firewall requires some extra settings.
Sorry for my bad english... Hope this will help you!
