Help Downgrading Black pro 2.0
Could anyone tell me how to "downgrade" my Black pro 2.0 do the WM5 1.35 ROM? I am having trouble with some applications in the Black. I tried running the upgrading utility for 1.35 ROM but it doesn't recognize the usb connection. I thought it might be a problem with the SPL 1.40 Olipro and changed to 1.10 Oli... still the same problem. I tried changing it to 1.10 MGF but mtty won't recognize the usb connection either. It's not a problem with my usb port because everything else works fine, including the phone syncronization. Any help is appreciated.

I know, but I'd like to point out a question for this list: besides the start date, is it possible to add even the date of the newest release please? This can easily help to figure out which are the most active releases vs the ones which have a more discontinued developing.
Thanks
PS: then, feel free to delete my post after the mods have seen my request

I 100% AGREE WITH YOU, THIS IS A MISLEADING POST, AND IT IS A STICKY ONE, SO IF A NEW MEMBER LOGGED IN HERE HE WILL USE AN OBSOLETE ROMs, WHILE WE HAVE NOW THE BEST ROMs BASED ON THE NEWELY RELEASED OFFICIAL ROM.
PDA VIET's ROM
there're alots of roms
Can I echo the request that this potentially very useful thread be amended to reflect the last amended date (of first post on the thread) rather than first post date?
Currently this thread doesn't really have any real value for the people it's intended to help.
(Can I also suggest it gets locked except for amendments or addenda by mods?)
Thank you!!!!!!!!
Never works
I follow the steps and i get to the point were it says you are now ready to update rom image and hit next it then wants a reply on my device to continue when i hit yes it goes to the ttri color screen looses it connection with my computer and the ruu program says it also lost connection.

I have a Blue Angel as mentioned in my signature and I have what I believe are all of the files needed to try and install WM2005 Build 14326.0.0.0 onto it.
Here are the WM2005 files I currently have:
HimaUpgradeUt - 512KB - 5/5/2004 4:54PM
nk.nbf - 32,769KB - 3/21/2005 9:08AM
And the following came from my existing ROM:
ms_.nbf - 16,833KB - 2/3/2005 7:45PM
radio_.nbf - 4,097KB - 2/3/2005 7:45PM
I also have a good copy of ActiveSync Beta 4.0.0 and have all of the instructions that were made in the main WM2005 post for installing on the Himalaya and I'm assuming it should be the same for the Blue Angel.
My device info currently reads:
Model No: PH20A2
Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 Build 14132
ROM Version: 1.36.00 WWE
ROM Date: 01/13/05
Radio Version: HA00_140
Protocol Version: AA3.3.301
ExtROM Version: 1.36.110 WWE
Hardware Version: 0041
This is what it came with out of the box, I have not installed the updated ROM Audiovox released the day the phone was released because I have never had a single problem and some people who upgraded reported problems and that some files were a day older than the version that shipped in the original ROM.
-------------------
Now my 1st question, the newest updated ROM installer package from Audiovox which was released 3/4/2005, has a different version of the upgrade utility, it's called "HaUpgradeUt - 424KB - 12/23/2004". The package it was included in from Audiovox's website was called "HA_SPCS_13600_113_00140_6600". Which upgrade utility is the best to use or does it not matter?
Now my 2nd question, has anyone yet tried this on a Blue Angel? Is there anyone here who really knows thier stuff who is willing to help me if I get lost or screwed up so I can be the Blue Angel WM2005 test pig?
Thanks!
hi
i have a pda2k with 1.33 rom and radio rom 1.08 and my cooked rom
i tried the upgrade but got the device authentication error.. tried it with the explained patch and the other method in original wm2005 post.. the himupgrade starts the procedure and then stops after some time saying an error occured..
but you go ahead and try it..may be you will do something differently and will succeed..
note: i have tried the xda 2 SE rom and imate jam rom and almost tried the alpine rom on my pda2k.. there is nothing you cannot revert back from
just incase if you are curious what happened after the above roms..my device didnt boot.... no problem...just unplug the usb port of the cradle and run a wwe rom made for xda 2s or pda2k ...everything will work then!
good luck..
keep us posted!!!!
in the above post: i mean unplug usb then replug usb and then run the BAupgrade utility....
can you upload hte 1.36 rom you have??? does your device have wifi and camera???
thanks

Where is the post for this "explained patch method" you are referring to? Also I'm considering the post titled "Microsoft Windows Mobile Version 5.0 I can share" as the original WM2005 post so we are on the same page in our thinking on that one.
The ROM is a free download from Audiovox, I guess I could upload it though.
I'm assuming the BAupgrade utility is on this site for download?
My device does have the camera but no WiFi, it has EV-DO instead. It's a CDMA phone, not a GSM phone...
your running the Verizon EVDO version of the the BlueAngel a CDMS 1xrt yada yada device. Most new ROM images are made for GSM phones then latter altered to talk to CDMA modules. In this case I think ot only would you not have a "good" experience but would warn against it. Second BlueAngel devices have OEM driver for the slide out keyboard. You will most likely loose for sure its use with this new OS. This is why the only devices it is worrking on right now are non-hardwired keyboard devices. Also there seems to be a notable diff in the hardare implimentation between HTC based devices. What software might work with one may not at all or damage another. Sorry for the down news but I think unless you have a keyboardless device I would not recomend playing with it. Just my 2 cents.
What you can do though is grab some of the elements (image files) from the new OS in other threads here, and overwrite the files on your device. Kind of like adding crome package or racing stripes. still the same car, just feel new
Thanks for the input. I'm running the Sprint version, not the Verizon one, same difference though pretty much, lol. 2.5G Vs. 1xrt and both have EV-DO, and then of course the frequency of the Verizon digital and Sprints PCS, but yeah both CDMA
I really couldn't care less about the keyboard, I don't even use it, never really have. Honestly, I work for CompUSA and if this thing gets buggered up I'll just exchange it out. I'm going to do a full backup tonight, hard reset, dump the existing ROM and then start the process just for grins to see how it goes. As long as it's not dog slow, text messaging works and email along with voice functions I'll be happy as heck. It'll atleast be fun to screw with and then I can always go back later.
I'm still unclear on some things like the country code and stuff that was mentioned in the other posts. Once I know I have all the facts and all of the files I'll give it a try and post back here. I'm off Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday so I'll have 3 days straight to play. I have to say my only real concern is it working with the CDMA radio which hopefully it will since I have a good copy of the latest Radio ROM for it...
hi 92GTA
yeah were on the same page..
wm2005 i can share is the original post..and i think page 10 has the answer (im not entirely sure though the post has now 17 pages!!!)
@ 92GTA : can you share this 2k5 ROM ? can you upload to a ftp and give us a link
bad :
read properly : he WANTS to install WM2005 on his IIs.
Why should you people go around risking your devices like this?
It's like putting diesel in a petrol car..things will screw up...
The 2005 upgrade currently available is only meant for XDA II devices, not IIs or II mini...or whatever. Hardware differences will render your efforts rather futile save for a massive hack.. Sigh.

Where on Audiovox is the 2005 rom?. All I've ever seen are the 2003se updates.
I have a german T-Mobile MDA Pro with the official T-Mobile AKU 2.0 from May 2006. Is there any stable upgrade I could apply to my MDA? Maybe T-Mobile released something officially? I read that there are already Windows Mobile 5 AKU 3.0 and later floating floating around for other brands? Where is the one for MDA Pro?

I am currently using the Helmi’s AKU 3.5. If you are new in ROM upgrades, you may choose the Helmi’s AKU 3.3 which is more reliable.
Bdw. MDA PRO is base on HTC Universal (that is the production name)

Agree.
Me using Helmi_c Aku3.5 v1.3 too. Performance is great except no speedial!
Also think Helmi_c Aku3.3 v1.2 is the best ROM so far except for not having Windows Live.
Works better with Radio 1.14.10, but depend of your network provider.
What is Radio 1.14.10 ?
And what do you mean with Windows Live? Does some Microsoft AKU contain already some windows live services that where promised for "crossbow" (WM6.0)? What are those? Or is this some ugly homwbrew hack?

I suggest you go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286036 and download the Helmi aku3.5 v1.3. -Its very reliable and considerably faster than what you will have installed already. I strongly recommend that you back up to MS OUTLOOK before updating if you dont wish to lose your calander events or contacts.
To answer your question, the so-called 'Radio ROM' is actually an update of the mobile phone (aka radio) firmware. Helmi's package includes a previous radio firmware version which is fine. The package also includes the latest available firmware upgrade (or AKU) of the Windows Mobile 5 operating system. This firmware upgrade of the OS is not yet officially released by MS, but has leaked and has since been tweaked by such jolly fine chaps as Helmi.
By the way, you'll be quite confused by the mixed use of ROM, extended ROM, hard/cold boot, etc (eg. everyone knows that ROM = 'Read Only Memory' and that the AKU and RADIO upgrades are actually written to EEPROM or equivalent memory type). Dont worry too much about it though, the lingua franca grows on you and the support from the community is excellent
Go ahead and try to update your universal after backing it up.
Your next post should be either "WOW, thats much better!!" or "CRAP, how do I get the damned thing to update??!!"
before I actually go for an upgrade I still have some worries:
1. won't I loose the german language on my phone (keyboard, äöü, T9, UI Language) ?
2. on some screenshots I have seen a "3G" Icon, but in germany it is UMTS and I want to keep the U Icon
3. When upgrading the Radio ROM, will everything still work fine with the operator T-Mobile such as MobileTV, streaming, MMS, Videophonie or this automatic image compression service offered by t-mobile germany (automatically compresses all images on websites to save traffic).
Just to make you feel safe, you can go to your T-Mobile website, download your current ROM from there.
So even how good the new ROM is, if you do not like it, flash back the old one.
can anybody answer my 3 questions ?

There is NO official AKU 3 out yet for the Universal. I don't think there will ever be. ALL the AKU 3 you see here are made by members and any Universal device can use them.

bitbonk,
As mentioned there is no official AKU 3.X for Universal.
AKU 3.X ROM’s that you find here are tailored to functionality by some brilliant guys in this forum. Indeed those are generally in English.
However if you choose to use them you will lose your German language but you may able to find batches that allows you to reconfigure. I do also believe your specific T-mobile related functionality will be lost.
in case your decide to give a try for one this available ROM’s then as CWKJ has suggested you can download you current original ROM from T-Mobil for back up
However please take NOTE this forum is for guys they like to test and develop.
I think I am using my universal more for upgrading and testing some ROM’s rather for daily usage. Therefore if you decide start to use one of this ROM’s be prepared to be infected with “XDA developers Virus”. This Virus is not infecting your device but its effecting you live
This will lead you spending most of your free time in this forum and on your device.
Instead bringing news paper to “rest room” you will bring your Universal.
If anyone tries to call you on your device, they will be not able to contact you as device docked on your computer for ROM upgrade or trying any reg. code.
Your Girlfriend/wife will start to complain: “I wish you would love me same as you loving your Universal”
So bro think carefully on what you decide :0)
LOL !!! ...
Good one.
I am trying to get my other half to be infected too.
Read somewhere in this forum, cannot remember which thread, a guy say his girlfriend complaint that he is doing too much ROM. Some other guys in this forum suggest him to give his girlfiend some RAM before continue with his ROM.
LOL !!! ...
So much of joke aside.
This are all self cooked ROMs. Our hardware maker for $ making seek unlikely to give any of us any update (only once in April 06).
1. You will lose the German Language as this is a WWE (World Wide English) ROM. But you can make a search in this forum for a forumer by name Asukal who is an expert in language. You should find some language patch (for read & write) to make up for the missing German Language.
2. "3G" is a "display only bug" in the Aku3.x which should be "U" for Voice service. For Web browsing service or Video, etc, instead seeing "U", you see "G" (a bug too).
3. UMTS/3G using this ROM with Radio image (any version, but latest official T-Mobile is version 1.13.00 and some test version 1.14.10 which seems to work pretty well with this Helmi_c Aku3.5 V1.3) have no problem with Voice Call, SMS, MMS, Video Call, Web browsing, etc. Other T-Mobile specific service (MobileTV, streaming, image compression), I think it should be in your Extended Rom, not Radio. You can just flash nk.nbf (Aku part) and Radio_.nbf (radio part) and do not flash the ms_.nbf (extended rom part).
Lastly, only after flashing, you will get all your questions answer until the day you try it.
Before flashing, backup your T-Mobile splash screen (if any) because splash screen of Helmi's ROM is O2, Indra's is imate, the other 2 I have not tried.
Remember to use MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe, (do not use ROMUpgradeUt.exe), to flash.
Good luck.
thank you for your help.
So maybe there is a e preconfigured ROM/radio upgrade (AKU 3.x) with german language floating around that is known to work well with german t-mobile ? Any german t-mobilers around here?
Why not go into the helmi thread and ask if someone has a compatible german language patch? You can probably set up the T Mobile stuff manually....

This thread is for discussing the Pre-Release Edition of v0.30 of Windows Mobile XDA-Live.
Please do not post requests for the download link, it will not be made available.
I do plan on a public release of WMXL v0.30 on April 1st, 2007.
The Pre-Release Edition was only made available to those who have contributed towards the development of XDA-Live.
All fixes from v0.20 remain. There is no PDF Reader installed.
Changes:
HTweakC XDA-Live Edition embedded! See below for features.
MS Hearts is fixed.
ATI Imageon Video Fix (from AKU 3.3).
Phone SIM PIN Security Pad Skin Fixed.
User-Agent String for PIE & MMS Changed to allow proper detection of Device Capabilities.
Connection Icon distinquishes between 3G & HSDPA.
Set Phone Radio Status to “On” after power off.
Fixed error in Registry Memory Settings from v0.20.
System Files required for PTT support are included.
HTC Recorder is installed and set as the default Recorder for Button 5 Press & Hold.
Sim Manager is updated to Version 5.30.
PHM Registry Editor was removed as it duplicated a function included in Task Manager.
HTweakC XDA-Live Edition (only works in XDA-Live Roms)
A special thanks goes out to Mike at "fit4communication anytime" for this.
We have been honored with a special edition of HTweakC that includes new features to help us get our Hermes configured to our liking after every Hard Reset or Rom Flash!
To use the Auto Install Features do the following:
Create “AutoInstall” Folder in the Root. In “AutoInstall” create three Folders; “Cabs”, “Registry” & “MyDevice”.
If you currently use HTweakC, copy your HTweakC.ini File into the “AutoInstall” Folder.
Copy any Cab Files you want automatically installed into the “Cabs” Folder. For example everyone who has a 8525 should have the WMXL 8525 Keyboard Fix.CAB File here.
If you have any Registry Files, copy them into the “Registry” Folder.
Finally, if you have any files you want copied into your Windows Folder place them into the “MyDevice” Folder.
Now after you install WMXL v0.30 on every Hard Reset these Items will automatically be installed. Note you will get an error if you don't create the folders on your storage card but it won't cause any harm.
There will be an updated WMXL v0.30 Release Version based on your input and including the following:
SlingPlayer Support Fix.
Trimmed OS Rom for extra Storage Capacity.
Possible "Cleaner" version of the Connection Icons (I noticed that the PIN Pad Skin fix caused them to revert back to the older style).
Updates to XDA-Live Edition of HTweakC!
WMXL Supporters (you know who you are ) will get the Download Link at least 24 hours before public release which is scheduled for April 1st.
Thank you again for all of your support in making this Rom happen.
OS Version
Thanks, kyphur
Just to make sure, before I'll flash - what's the OS version shown ?
Have you had a chance to play around with tadzio's method of gaining free space? Do you suppose you might implement this technique into your next release?
I'll be testing that this week. I didn't want to delay getting v0.30 to the supporters.
The version number of this release will report as 5.1.195 so BBConnect & Goodlink will work with it.

Newbie install guide
Hey people, I went overboard replying to a PM last night and made an install guide for WMXL (catering for settings and etc...)
Since more and more users are heading for the cooked roms section (and specifically for WM6) I can update this for v0.3 of WMXL when it is released!?
Take a peek and see what you think!?
restore from 20.1
a trivial question to most I'm sure, but as both roms - WMXL v0.20.1 and v0.30, are of similar foundations, can I restore a backup of v0.20.1 to v0.30?
the back up program being spb backup.

FANTASTIC! The wiki, though useful is still rather daunting for noobs like me.
This step by step guide should open up ROM flasing to many more....

I have studied your upgrade guide and I think it is superb, it should save the same questions being asked over and over again about upgrading, which does tend to fill up the rom upgrade threads when you are searching for an answer to other problems.
Brilliant keep up the great work!

It's a great guide and nicely structured. Great job Mrvanx! Is it possible for you to add a section on how to do a ROM upgrade using Vista? I know it's been mentioned in a lot of threads but it would be nice to have it in one place like this one.
Thanks.
Shamim
Yer I havent really used Vista AT ALL, so im not sure, but im going to read through the various threads etc.... to find the appropriate info.
Nice guide! Can you also get it into the Wiki by any chance?
I wonder if there's an "import html" option somewhere....

What should you do:
1) READ THE ENTIRE THREAD OF THE ROM BEFORE FLASHING (IF THERE IS BETA SIGN!!!!
2) you can either keep it - it will work if you take off the SIM card and Hard reset the device, then turn off automatic time update from network AND do not try to synchronize the device via AS (taht way the device will know the correct time and block itself again)
3) Flash any other ROM - you do not need Active sync to be working to flah a ROM, just put your device into Bootloader, plug the usb cable and if the bootloader says USB you can flash whatever ROM you want. If you want WM6.1 you can use PDA viet ROM (works without time bomb, but it is not very stable).
The PDA Viet WM6.1 works great after setting PagePool to 6mb instead of the default 4mb. Before doing that, it was extremely buggy and unstable.

It telling you what it says .. Image file is corrupt so try a different ROM, like a factory rom for your device.
And did you read the wiki recommending to flashed Hard-SPL on your Hermes before flashing any radio or ROM?
yes i read any.
But i suppose there are problem because i have the same problem with diffrents roms... I 'm trying to resolve the problem...
after few pourcents, it restart and tell this messages
I tried 6 or 7 roms and 1 official, no way to install.
All rom tell me at 1% that the image rom is corrupt. Before it worked but since the WM6 , no way.
The official rom tell me at 1% that the vender id is invalid...
I don't know what doing...

Well did you flash Hard-SPL on it first before flashing any ROM?
You might have to try flashing from SD card now since you can't flash it via usb. It explained in the wiki.

I have a new Pharos 137 and really would like to help progress of WM 6.5.
Since this phone will be in the "evaluation" stages for a week or two, I can volunteer to help Beta test; however...
I need as much information as possible regarding how to restore to previous ROM(s), and with your recommended FULL backup/restore as well as auto install product recommendation(s).
Drop me a note if I can help.
You need a Vista PC and the 6.1 ROM from the Pharos website. Obviously you need to restore your data manually in each case.
I have been using the 127 rom for almost two weeks now and really have no complaints. It runs great check out the video above or if you have already tried it, please post your comments.

Erick is still working on get the video dailer skin working but for the time being he has place the windows default dailer skin which is fully functional. Hi Erick, I have a problem with GPS for the latest ROM (27 June) for Pharos 127, My GPS receiver is not recognized any more.... (where my 6.1 ROM form the Pharos website worked)...Have you got any idea about that?
Many thanks,
TaK
P/S: you have uploaded more rom? Will try right now . Thanks again. ^^
Thanks Erickwill, your rom good to me, hehe. Thanks again
Battery life....
Are there still issues with battery life, like there is with the pharos-supplied roms?
You can try it and report me any bug. So far so good the current roms is smooth and stable and has no battery issues.
So far, so good! Only issue was I had to re-download the SmartTraveler software then get a new product key from Pharos, but no problems there.
Thanks ericwill!
This works for Pharos 600 GPS Phone? If so, which files in the link do I need to download? How do I actually flash it? I'm a network admin, but don't play with phones too much.
Yes it works on your phone. You have to download it on the respective folder. So connect your phone through usb and execute the executable.
Let me know if do you have any questions.
I connected my phone and it was showing connected in "Microsoft Mobile Device Center". I got the phone screen to show the USB was connected. But the update button was greyed out. It said to disconnect and reconnect. I did and the phone froze. I took out the battery to reboot. Now it will not turn on at all. When I hold the power button on the red light flashes but doesn't turn on. DidI just brick my phone?
Not at all. There is two methods to update your phone.
The first is through usb and the second is through the SDcard. You can try to do that through the second method. However, is very strange to stuck the instalation process. I wondering if you downloaded the correct OS since there is a lot OS for many devices there.
Let me know if do you know about how to flash through usb. If you have any questions add me on msn so we can chat about. [email protected]
I can't even get it to turn on at all.
