GPS Artemis M650 SPV it's DEAD ? - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hi, I don't spech well english, I have the Artemis M650 SPV of the ORANGE, UNLOCKED For one WEEK that they are successful to use the GPS with TOMTOM 6, all perfect. Not sò if because of varies modernizations of ROM, hour does not exist the way to make it to work correctly, has tried whichever configuration and whichever program, someone can help me in order to understand if the gps it is DEAD ! Thanks

You can select the inbuilt GPS Receiver if you have version 6,02 or 6,03 of the TomTom application installed, if this option isn't available try Other NMEA GPS Device/ Baud 9600/ Com Port 4 and it should work fine (unless Orange have been messing around with the hardware) - Mike

Thank's but don't work now, the problem is the last week it work fine on TOMTOM with this config : Programs : com 4 ; Hardware : (NONE) 4800 or 9600 ; Access with flag !!! now I see only the orange led ( GPS ) but don't work ( NO GPS DEVICE ) TOMTOM config : Built-in GPS receiver. There is the system to reset only the GPS Chip? Sorry for my English.

Hard reset the device and see if that clears the fault, if not it looks like the hardware has broken - Mike

I have read a lot of info on this site, tried to use information but no life as yet. If there is a program to congigure GPS or step by step guide ( new to this game ) then please advise.
I wait in hope to bring my M700 back to life.

I have a m700 and tomtom just auto detects the internal gps.
when I go to the gps config it says internal gps. there's no baud rate or port to configure.
I'm guessing you have the wrong radio rom or are bypassing some tomtom auto-config.
Try reinstaling the latest radio and tomtom
thank you for your reply, have tried several radio roms and still no go
try original htc rom...

GPS not communicate to any software on P3300

Hi i have P3300 flashed B&B v.5 (original FR wm5) and integrate GPS dont wanna comunicate to any port. I've tried an test with HTC GPS Tools on COM 4, no satelite detected and position not fixed. What I have to do? Return my device to original rom or stay in B&B??? sorry for my bad english
I haven't used the HTC GPS tools that you mentioned, so sorry if this is redundant, but have you verified...
start menu\settings\system\external GPS is set to:
GPS Program Port: COM4
GPS Hardware Port: None
Baud Rate : 4800
Manage GPS automatically: ticked (yes)

Yes, everything that you mentioned was checked frist but no satelite signal in TomTom6. I found after HTC GPS Tools (Niki topics), the test didn't give any result. What is the problem
You don't happen to have an M650, do you?

Thanks for your kindness, but my device is a real HTC P3300. I don't know if it could also be fixed the same way with this
Not sure if you tried the fix in the link above, but wanted to add you could try flashing a different rom just to see if gps functions work in it. I tried a version of a rom and had no activesync capability, but tried a different version of the same rom and it works great. I think sometimes a particular rom and a particular phone do not get along. Trying a different rom might confirm if it's a hardware or software problem for you. That fix above looks promising too.
GPS Tuner
Thanks for your advise. I recently tested a software, GPS Tuner. When open, it showed a popup in french, my ROM is B&Bv5 now,
"Your GPS receiver is not configured yet. Do it now [Configure it Now][Later]"
If I click on [Configure it Now], it seems to work in 2" and block totally my device after. What it means?
I'm not familiar with that, so I don't know. Sorry. Unless someone else has a fix, I suggest hard resetting then flashing the same ROM again. If that does not work then choose a different ROM and see if you have different results.
HELLO DEAR LPZ GO TO VISUALGPSCE AFTER AGREE THEN GO FILE THEN CONFIGURATION THEN UNITS DISTANCE/SPEED=STSTUE AND ALTITUDE/ELEVATION = FEET AND POSITION FORMAT ddd mm.mmmm is all thing correct then ok and enjoy:
Hi all,
I tested VISUALGPSCE but it didn't work either. I retrograde in basic ROM now in hopping my GPS will work

have you tried testing it outdoors?
i know my artemis wont get a fix indoors, and gives the same messages as yours, but works fine outdoors.

Need help : GPS doesn't work

Hi all !
I think this forum is the more appropriated to explain my problem.
I've a Orange M650 and GPS work great until last week. Now, the GPS navigation software doesn't catch any satellite ; but the orange led is blinding.
I tried to flash the phone with the touch rom and I've the same problem.
My parameters are :
GPS program port : COM4
GPS hardware port : (None)
Baud rate : 4800
Manage GPS automatically
This parameters worked great under tomtom but today it won't synchronize at all.
Thank you for your help !
There is a problem with the GPS on M650 after flashing another rom. Search the forums for "M650 GPS". There is a patch somewhere. It worked for me, but i still think it's not 100% ok. Better than nothing.
Hi.
Thank for your answer, but I tried several patches (kulbutor, .cab included into Aje's rom, ...), and the result is worst : led doesn't blind anymore
Try flashing the original rom back, if u can find it. If u register on htc.com e-club you can download a rom with windows mobile 6. Unfortunately my artemis seems to have been bought in Italy, so i got a rom in italian. If all else fails, try an authorized service.
I have attached the cabs I installed over one of meschle's touch 4.01 roms. Use both of them.
I've installed SdkCerts and configured the GPS manually in Tomtom and now it works !
Thank you !!!

Hi, i think you must set gps windows settings first: i set COM4 on "GPS data PORT" and NONE on "hardware GPS port" (with 4800 Bauds)
Than flag the option about the automatic GPS configuration
After, you should try different gps configuration by TOMTOM menu (my current setting is "integrated GPS", and it works"),
but other configuration (like "external GPS") could works.
What is your Artemis?
P3300 or SPV M650?
If it is SPV M650, use the patch called "Kulbutor"
I got a spv M650 myself and never had to do anything

If you've got a SPV M650 and want to keep the A-GPS function with another cook Rom than Aje's Rom, you must do it, no choice
It is available for B&B Rom, Artemis Touch Rom....

Tomtom & i780 -Do you need portsplitter (or similar) to make GPS work?

From what I understand there are some combinations of PDA rom and Tomtom that allow the GPS to work without any additional software (e.g. portsplitter)?
If this is you case, can you please report here which is your i780 PDA rom version and your tomtom version?
thanks!
i780 with PXIHH5 rom
tomtom 7.45 + map Italy 7.20
port 3 + port 9 + 4800 baud
perfectly working without portsplitter or other additional software
I used to use PortSplitter or GPSProxy to get GPS working on the i780 with TomTom, but those were too much hassle. Sometimes after a soft-reset I'm able to launch TomTom by itself and it works, but most times it does not.
Now I use a tool called AstroGPSLauncher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364199) and it works every time.
