i am trying to get phonecontrol to work, but when the program is about to copy some files to my TyTn(or Hermes) i get this message(appearing on my computer), and it cant continue.
Tried some fixes, but they seem to be to smartphones, and didn't do much good.
Anyone got an idea?

Try to upgrade to the HTC rom, it should be in this forum and I think its the second one on this page... Just look up and you should see the guide to upgrading your rom...
Read the topic that says guide to upgrading from WM 5 to WM 6 (or something along those lines)...
Hi I already Installed WM6 and after this problem again i done WM6 update. I have a doubt with this update. And i Unable to Open Windows Mobile folders from my computer also Active Sync unable to connect with Mobile. But i can receive the call and make answer to them sometime( even Hanging condition).
Okay, I've searched alot to get this thing solved. When I try to update my rom, the update starts normally, but then my telephone screen turns black, my gets disconnected, windows tells me it has found new hardware. The update failes and returns error 260 (connection lost). When I soft-reset the telephone afterwards, it returns to it's old shape.
Info about my telephone.
Rom: 1.93.404.1 NLD
Radio: 1.0025.05
PC: Windows XP SP 3, Active Sync 4.5
I tried to update with this rom: RUU_Diamond_HTC_NLD_2.03.404.3_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship.exe
I also tried to update to Hard-SPL but that gave me the same error.
PLease guys does anyone of you know how to fix this? (personally I think it's windows xp which is screwing up).
Thanks in advance, I appreciate all help.
Yours, Martijn.
Even the tiniest tip may help (A)
I had the same trouble with that rom, I tried from internal memory and it worked. Search the wiki I am sure the info is there.
"ERROR [260] : UPDATE ERROR
This error occurs when there is an "open port error" before upgrading the CE ROM image. Solution: You can reset the device and run RUU again. If you still encounter an "OPEN PORT ERROR" again, reset your computer and try again."
This is what the WIKI tells me. But I have tried that. How did you manage to perform the update on the internal storage? Because I tried that with hard-spl but it wouldn't work.
Besides I only have .exe files for the Hard-Spl and the official rom from HTC.
Thanks for your reply though.
EDIT PART, just read this on another thread in the wiki:
ERROR 260 (Update Error):
"Your phone is not connected to ActiveSync. Check your connection or restart the phone. Also make sure in ActiveSync that "Allow USB connections" is checked (under File->Connection Settings). If this still doesn't help, then remove the memory card and SIM card before flashing."
I'm going to try this now, if it worked, I'll let you know
Just found out I have a CDMA version or something, I'll try google for the problem now.
Get the rom image from your temp directory and look here, found in the wiki

Does the hardware install incorrectly? My laptop did this on XP.
XP would find the new hardware, my bootloader would say USB. Then it'd tell me new hardware could not be installed properly and from there my phone suffered those symptoms - Back to where I was. Funnily enough it eventually fixed itself.

It looks alot like your problem yes. But last time the hardware installed correctly, then the patch I found for CDMA models on ppcgeeks failed, and my telephone got bricked. So I'll need to get that fixed first. After that I'll sure think twice before I try another rom update :/
Thanks for all the help though, and I have to advice everyone to not use the hard-spl for cmda users from ppcgeeks unless you're 100% sure it fits your model!
Help!
I was messing around with the Ubuntu on Rhodium stuff that's posted in the Android sub-forum and I think something got corrupted/overwritten on my phone...
I extracted all the files on to a freshly formatted card and ran haret and everything worked file and I eventually got to the Ubuntu desktop. Then I did a soft reset to get back to WM and then the problems started.
I cannot run any unsigned apps whether they are installed on the storage card or internal memory. Whenever I try and run an app I get an error saying "The file blah cannot be opened either it is not signed with a trusted certificate...".
I cannot get back into Android or Ubuntu coz haret is unsigned too.
I cannot even install new apps! When I run the cab file, I get the usual "This program is from an unknown publisher..." and when I select yes for continue it immediately comes up with "Installation of blah was unsuccessful."
Time for a hard reset? I'd really prefer not to if anyone can suggest a better way of getting my phone back to how it was.

Tried installing this?
As I said in my original post, I cannot install any CABs that come from "Unknown Publishers" too and it seems that TP2-AppUnlock is one of those.
Thanks for trying,
R.
there is a setting somewhere for this. i saw it the other day while setting up a new rom.pretty sure
same problem
I have encountered the exact same issue...except that for me it occurred after booting back into WM after trying out the latest android build. Anyone have a solution?

Just found this thread that is supposed to fix the problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404170
I've already hard-reset my phone so I can't test it...
I too had the same problem but with the HTC hd2. I was trying out a 2.2 rom n the camera wasn't working so I turned off the phone, when I tried going to back android haret wouldn't run .if anybody has a fix to this please let me know.
Hi there,
Have you tried the "Security configuration Manager" mentioned in the thread linked to above?
I can't test it coz I haven't broken my phone again since the initial issue but for future reference I'd like to know if it cures the problem.
Hope this helps,
Richard
Yes i've tried security configuration manager but it still wouldn't work. Does doing the hard rest work? Thanks for the help
Yes, hard reset works.
I've used it on two occasions to fix this problem.
Regards,
Richard
after using config manager i cannot sync with outlook
i am still having the issue with certificates after runnig android and rebooting HD2

i am in mexico HTC HD2 unlocked if i make a hard reset i am going to loose unlocked feature right?
hi i have a htc touch pro2 from us cellular and im having a problem running emulators on my phone. Ive tried running now both the pocketgba and the pocketgnuboy and i keep getting the same error for both. The error is "The file 'Pocketgnuboy' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the Proble persists, try reinstaling or restoring the file." Ive saved both of them to my SD card and im not sure if thats the problem.
So if anyone can help and show me what to do to fix this problem and how to do install etc. then it would be greatly appreciated thankxx..
Thread moved to correct section.
I'm pretty sure others will help out soon with advice re. app unlocking (or whatever it is called on modern devices), or sdkcerts or similar, however that error message rings a bell for a different reason... On my previous phone I was using a util to alter shortcut's properties (sorry, it was a while ago now, but the specifics won't matter.) Upon seeing the error msg, I was initially convinced I had somehow restored the phone to it's original status of not trusting unsigned CABs, or not allowing certain software. HOWEVER, I eventually noticed that running the EXEs directly (File Explorer/Resco Explorer/Total Commander) meant the apps would work fine, it was just the start menu's shortcuts that gave that error, but not even on all shortcuts.
Short version, while you wait for a more knowledgeable person to come along and guide you through the more likely/common issues, is try navigating to \program files\YOUR APP NAME\your_app_name.exe , run it. If the program works fine, all you'll need to do is navigate to \windows\start menu\ and delete the non-functioning shortcut, and create a new one.

I've looked around but no one seems to ever give an answer.
I have an HTC Touch Pro 2 (SPRINT). Every, and I mean every, (even RegEdit cabs) fail to install. I get "Installation of ________ was unsuccessful."
I do NOT get the choice to install onto device--as soon as I select, it fails.
I soft-reset. Nothing.
I hard-reset. Nothing.
I installed form both SD and phone directories. Nothing.
I downloaded the cab again. Nothing.
I am in serious need of help. What's the use of having this phone if I can't do a blasted thing to tweak or personalize it?
Any help welcome. Again, I have listed my problem and what I've done to try and resolve it. I cannot access registry from the phone, and I've tried through activesync but I don't have permission to change the phone's registry.
So this is odd if it happens even after a hard reset. Are there any Exchange security policies being pushed to your phone that may prevent the adding of programs? Have you tried installing anything from the Marketplace? Are you sure that the cab file you are trying to install is for Windows Mobile and is compatiable with 6.5? Can you install a .exe program when connected to a PC?
