Can anyone help me out i was trying to downloading a new software upgrade for my mda pro and the computer froze on me no the phone is stuck with the screen saying with no light on serial at the top of it and at the bottom it say v2.01 but when i put the usb cable in or charge it it says usb on the screen instead of serial.The programme crash and now i cant ger out of that screen ive just told u about.I can do i hard restet and the light goes on saying press 0 to restore factory default and press x to exit.
When i press 0 it just goes back to the 1st screen i jst told u abt.With no light on and cant get light on or do anything with it.HELP i think when the update crashed on me it crashed the phone to and just kept on that screen with the serial on it.ActiveSync will not work anymore when i put cable into the comptuer with my phone so updaing my phone agine will not work.Can anyone please point me in the right place to fix this promblem.Many thanx mono33

When to upgrade from bootloader, I guess you have to turn of your activesync, you can not allow activesync to use usb or download activesync toogle from: http://www.micrologics.co.uk/ (I use it to make use AS don't bother my prosses). And maybe the ROM file is broken?

If this software upgrade was ROM upgrade, you're stuck in the Bootloader - check out the answers in the wiki and in the Universal Upgrading thread.

If you have reached the bootloader mode and the word 'serial' changes to 'USB', you are in luck. Only before you connect to PC for upgrade open Active Sync on the PC and go to File / Connection Setting and UNCHECK 'allow USB connection' Checkbox. Then connect your device and follow the upgrade procedure. Actually you have posted this in the wrong forum. This should have been in the upgrade forum. Upgrade is not difficult. Please do let us know if you require any further help.
my xdalls is dead ,i cannot hard or soft reset it,an orange light comes on when i put it in the cradle,the screen is black and says serial at the top and v 2.08 at the bottom ,could someone help me please ,i have read as much as i can but nothing seems to work tia

I have previously checked out the posts you directed me to and either i am stupid and dont understand or my problem is different?Anyway what i see my problema as being is that i cannot perform a hard or soft reset by the usual methods ,also active sync dosnt pick up my device so i cannot install any operating system including my original version,i am trying not to believe that i have ruined my device because as a disabled pensioner i rely so much on it and cannot afford to replace it,i have spent hours aquiering the software that i need to help me with my disability and time spent in hospitalsd and waiting rooms,once again thank you for giving me some hope and i would appreciate any further advice

Unfortunately i do not have a blue angel so my attempts to help are limited but what i would suggest is to fully charge the pda overnight and then remove the battery for ten-twenty mins.
Then try and put it in bootloader mode (after you have reinserted the battery and turned it on).
If you can get this far attatch it to your usb (let any drivers install on their own on pc) and flash the same rom the handset came with.

actually you are "IN" the bootloader mode... it's the UI for flashing.
Serial... means your USB cable isnt detecting any PC connection.
Orange led means you're phone is charging, that's a good sign.
try charging it for a long time and wait if it becomes green.
then if and when your battery is full...
take your battery out for at least 30-40 mins,
if your backup battery is old... and you know how fast it could drain out
you can use that time instead of the 30-40 mins...
put the battery back...
press and hold the record button + the power button...
now stick the reset.
use a separate synch cable.
then flash your phone again.
if that doesnt work...
search for MTTY...
i dont know the particulars but i think you'll find it somehow

1. Download mtty v1.42 from http://files.pdamobiz.com/ROMs/XDA/mtty1.42.rar
2. Stop ActiveSync, by Task Manager (press Ctrl + Alt + Delete) kill two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe
3. put your device into Bootloader Mode by pressing Power + Record Button and Soft Reset.
4. Run mtty (from downloaded) Choose WCEUSBSH001 (If you only see COM 1 and COM 2, try unplugging the USB and replugging it)
5. type "set 14 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
6. type "task 28" to get your device formatted (only do this is if you dont mind losing all data on the BA)
7. type "task 0" to ask your device reboot
8. take the device out of the cradle, and manually reset it if it does not do that already.

did you kill both process in task manager?
Have you tried to unplug the device wait ten seconds and then plug it back in?

kinda new to this myself mate but had a similar problem recently.
firstly, it sounds like your OS has gone....the screen you can see basically means there is nothing to 'boot' to.
'serial' should change to 'usb' once plugged into the pc before you can start active sync and reloading an OS.
try, if possible, a different usb port if that fails is there any chance you could borrow another cradle to check that the usb side is ok?.
another thing i did not see mentioned (may have missed it), if you push power + soft reset together and as soon as you see the boot loader press record + camera at the same time, if this works it will show 3 options, first one should remain 'no' the next 2 should be changed to 'yes', (record moves down the options, camera changes the setting) then press the 'mail' button.
this should clear the BA (losing any saved data etc) but might 'wake it up' so the pc will recognise it again and allow you to reload.
if it is showing 'serial' and charging then i doubt it is broken beyond repair, just one of those annoying problems that comes with technology.
i upgraded to WM6 with no problem, it was as i tried to downgrade back to 2003 i got my problems, it appeared as if i had wrecked my BA but re-read all help/instructions a few times and managed to get it sorted, dont give up hope, just keep going over it.....i am sure you will get there, good luck.

I tried to update my htc universal O2 to a room. but after a long time nothing was going to work and I broke it, now my screen is black but can be seen that written on the top serial and on the bottom v2.02. When I try again with other program show me that there is no old and no new system and will not done. My English is bad, and please try to understand this!
Hi there
Put your device in bootloader mode (hold the power button and the light button and put the stylus in the reset hole at the same time),and then connect your device to your computer and then reinstall the original rom.That is it.

Here's the thing , I unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone a while back (probably using an already outdated software , if i remembered correctly it was 2.3.3 , but i knew i followed the instructions here

Today, my phone asked if I wanted to update the software (like an automated software update) and i could choose to update or not and i chose yes but now , my phone won't start up for like 3 hours already . I tried turning it on but it won't turn on , i tried charging it but there isn't any lights which was supposed to be there .
So I decided to google it and i followed the instructions here

but after installing both , choosing my phone , followin the instructions on update service , it gets stuck on "it contains a modified software that cannot be updated" so decided to come back here to ask you guys what I should do .
Right now , all I want to do is for my phone to start up again , any ideas ?
edit : right now , i took out the battery , and put it back in . This time when I tried to turn it on , the vibrate is there which wasn't there initially and theres 1 flash of the green light on the side of the phone .
and also , i think its recognized by the computer because i can hear the sound notification (the same sound when you plug a USB into a computer) which wasn't there before I did the update service thingy .
edit 2 : it won't go into safemode either when i tried clicked the right and left buttons below the display (the menu and back button) and the power button after that . yes i tried reinserting the battery .
edit 3 : I'm not sure if this'll help but my phone is recognized as SEMC flash device (i checked on device manager) and theres a green colour non flashing light when i plug my phone into the pc .

When I switch it on, it shows the SE logo and does nothing else.. I tried to enter the safemode menu (holding left and right keys when switching on, or volume down key and home key when turning on) but nothing works!!! I'm like desperate now so any help would be really appreciated!

Try to flash a new(er) kernel with recovery and install a new rom (your phone is ota-bricked, so if that doesn't work, search on XDA)
