can any help: ROm Upgrading problem

I was upgrading my XDA2, it said completed, and when i restarted it, the o2 splash screen appears with radio verson 1.17 and thats where it stays... can anyone help. I have tried reinstalling the rom.... but it cant see the pda, and aborts...
Help would be appreciated

Does your device have a bootloader mode? If so get it into, connect usb & start upgrade program. This works on a magician, maybe on yours too?

thank you for the advice, but it is himayalian model.....so i do not know it it has a boot loader.

1-log in to this forum as user:xda pass:xda

3-go to himalaya folder and download any rom u would like 2 have(it can appear in several way,exe file or several files zipped in a .zip)
4-if it's and exe file and u have winrar,then extract the content in a folder,u will find 6 files(maybe less,rarely 1 file more-xda2nbftool.exe-),now forget about this file for the moment
u will need 2 file to fix ur phone:nk.nbf & HimauUpgradeUt.exe(i idvice u to dowload an O2 rom upgrade to prevent country id error wich can be fixed if necessary )
now that u have the tools,do the following:
1-press power button+navigation pad(the round one between the green and the red buttons)+reset b
utton SIMULTANESLY,u will enter bootloader mode(blank screen with serial on the upper side of the screen,number like 1.06 on the buttom)
2-put the cradle in usb port DIRECTLY IN UR COMPUTER NOT THROUGH USB HUB
3-put ur phone in the cradle while it's in bootloader mode,u will see that the serial word in the upper screen have changed into USB
4-run HimaUpgradeUt.exe and follow the on screen instructions,u will see a status bar,wait untill it finishes,hard reset ur phone,and here we go
i forgot to mension that u should put those 2 files(HimaUpgradeUt.exe & nk.nbf),in a separate folder,close any open task on ur desktop/laptop,and PUT UR CHARGER IN THE CRADLE for the battery don't run out...

Did you tried hard reset it?

First, don't get panic! Well.When I tried to unlock my device and make it Super CID that message appeared in my screen too.I tried anything I was told in this fantastic forum and nothing worked.Finally I was told to reinstalled windows on my PC and...it worked!! I think it's a problem of drivers. If you are desperated try it.

but like alberbrando said, don't panic. panic would only make things worse. try re-installing your windows. Hopefully, that should resolve your problem.

hi guys..i tried to hard reset it but nothing happend..i'm very depressed...how can it be possible??i've already done this operation with this pc..and it worked..is that possible ?drivers?reinstall windows??****..is one of the of the worst boring operations i've ever done..

thanks frz..i've hard resetted...nothing happend...

So do the other thing they told you and reset windows.
Which is worse? a few hours boredom of backups and reinstalls, or spending what. . . 1300. . £2600 on new PDA's for you and your friends?

-put nk.nbf file on this folder
-put your device to bootloader mode
-deactive active sync on your computer
-connect to USB
-Run upgrade tools

Right, don't panic, not being able to flash isn't such a big deal.
First, get an official update package for your QTek, and for your friends an I-Mate update package.
Next, hold the power button and the light-button (next to the volume slider), and stick the stylus in the little reset hole in the back. Hold the keys for a little longer, untill you vaguely see "Serial" or "USB" on the bottom part of the screen (put a little light on the screen, as the backlight will not be lit).
At this point make sure it's connected to your PC through the USB cable.
Right-click the MS ActiveSync icon (on your PC) and choose connection settings, make sure "Allow USB Connections" is unticked.
Next run the update utility, and everything should be fine again
If this doesn't help, ask again and state clearly that you've tried this already.

Thanks Blasphemer but i've done that 2000 times with no success at all...i think that entirely rebuild the pc is my last chance... I don't wanna think at what will happen when the same old window will came out...I' m preparing my gun... :shock:

b4 attempting to flash,
chk if the 3 steps with mtty work,
if u don't get any error,
plz get ur battrey charged fully from a friend.
then attempt a flash by downloading a different rom from the one u r presently using
disable ur pc firewall
also disable ur anti virus [dont know if this is really required...but i read it in quite a few forums & it worked for me...]
flash only the rom
no extended rom or radio
use the MaUpgradeUt_noID
hopefully this should sort out ur problem....

Another suggestion....
before making any other test, if it's possible, try on another PC, using a fresh rom (not the same used...) .... can be a PC problem, so test the procedure on another host ....

have you checked the bootloader version on the devices ? ... verify it before any other tentative ....

Help needed please

Can anyone help me out i was trying to downloading a new software upgrade for my mda pro and the computer froze on me no the phone is stuck with the screen saying with no light on serial at the top of it and at the bottom it say v2.01 but when i put the usb cable in or charge it it says usb on the screen instead of serial.The programme crash and now i cant ger out of that screen ive just told u about.I can do i hard restet and the light goes on saying press 0 to restore factory default and press x to exit.
When i press 0 it just goes back to the 1st screen i jst told u abt.With no light on and cant get light on or do anything with it.HELP i think when the update crashed on me it crashed the phone to and just kept on that screen with the serial on it.ActiveSync will not work anymore when i put cable into the comptuer with my phone so updaing my phone agine will not work.Can anyone please point me in the right place to fix this promblem.Many thanx mono33

When to upgrade from bootloader, I guess you have to turn of your activesync, you can not allow activesync to use usb or download activesync toogle from: http://www.micrologics.co.uk/ (I use it to make use AS don't bother my prosses). And maybe the ROM file is broken?

my xdalls is dead ,i cannot hard or soft reset it,an orange light comes on when i put it in the cradle,the screen is black and says serial at the top and v 2.08 at the bottom ,could someone help me please ,i have read as much as i can but nothing seems to work tia

I have previously checked out the posts you directed me to and either i am stupid and dont understand or my problem is different?Anyway what i see my problema as being is that i cannot perform a hard or soft reset by the usual methods ,also active sync dosnt pick up my device so i cannot install any operating system including my original version,i am trying not to believe that i have ruined my device because as a disabled pensioner i rely so much on it and cannot afford to replace it,i have spent hours aquiering the software that i need to help me with my disability and time spent in hospitalsd and waiting rooms,once again thank you for giving me some hope and i would appreciate any further advice

Unfortunately i do not have a blue angel so my attempts to help are limited but what i would suggest is to fully charge the pda overnight and then remove the battery for ten-twenty mins.
Then try and put it in bootloader mode (after you have reinserted the battery and turned it on).
If you can get this far attatch it to your usb (let any drivers install on their own on pc) and flash the same rom the handset came with.
Hope it helps

actually you are "IN" the bootloader mode... it's the UI for flashing.
Serial... means your USB cable isnt detecting any PC connection.
Orange led means you're phone is charging, that's a good sign.
try charging it for a long time and wait if it becomes green.
then if and when your battery is full...
take your battery out for at least 30-40 mins,
if your backup battery is old... and you know how fast it could drain out
you can use that time instead of the 30-40 mins...
put the battery back...
press and hold the record button + the power button...
now stick the reset.
use a separate synch cable.
then flash your phone again.
if that doesnt work...
search for MTTY...
i dont know the particulars but i think you'll find it somehow

1. Download mtty v1.42 from http://files.pdamobiz.com/ROMs/XDA/mtty1.42.rar
2. Stop ActiveSync, by Task Manager (press Ctrl + Alt + Delete) kill two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe
3. put your device into Bootloader Mode by pressing Power + Record Button and Soft Reset.
4. Run mtty (from downloaded) Choose WCEUSBSH001 (If you only see COM 1 and COM 2, try unplugging the USB and replugging it)
5. type "set 14 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
6. type "task 28" to get your device formatted (only do this is if you dont mind losing all data on the BA)
7. type "task 0" to ask your device reboot
8. take the device out of the cradle, and manually reset it if it does not do that already.

Thanks for your reply,but i cannot Choose WCEUSBSH001 when Run mtty.exe,i can choose Com 3 but when i type in your instructions it tells me to "Please input command name in menu Auto first" ARRGGGHHH! i am going crazt,but i realy appreciate yout time and effprt to my problem,it is wonderful to have some hope of getting it up and running as i am so lost without it,once again any help or suggestions appreciated

did you kill both process in task manager?
Have you tried to unplug the device wait ten seconds and then plug it back in?

kinda new to this myself mate but had a similar problem recently.
firstly, it sounds like your OS has gone....the screen you can see basically means there is nothing to 'boot' to.
'serial' should change to 'usb' once plugged into the pc before you can start active sync and reloading an OS.
try, if possible, a different usb port if that fails is there any chance you could borrow another cradle to check that the usb side is ok?.
another thing i did not see mentioned (may have missed it), if you push power + soft reset together and as soon as you see the boot loader press record + camera at the same time, if this works it will show 3 options, first one should remain 'no' the next 2 should be changed to 'yes', (record moves down the options, camera changes the setting) then press the 'mail' button.
this should clear the BA (losing any saved data etc) but might 'wake it up' so the pc will recognise it again and allow you to reload.
if it is showing 'serial' and charging then i doubt it is broken beyond repair, just one of those annoying problems that comes with technology.
i upgraded to WM6 with no problem, it was as i tried to downgrade back to 2003 i got my problems, it appeared as if i had wrecked my BA but re-read all help/instructions a few times and managed to get it sorted, dont give up hope, just keep going over it.....i am sure you will get there, good luck.
