Its OS is (from what im reading from the "about" in the system settings):

Now i was just wondering (from what i'm reading in this forum), if my WM5 can be upgraded to WM6 ??? just like the one im reading about in this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/6/default.mspx
im sure that i have a HTC phone since when i turn on my imate i get "HTC" with a white background...

As a quick summary, i have 2 questions:
1. After installing XDA_Exec_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.zip , will my WM5 become WM6 ("WM6 OS 5.2.318 (Built 15341.0.0.0)")????? just like the one on http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/6/default.mspx
2. What are the terms "crossbow", "universal"? do i need to know those terms before upgrading my i-mate?

1st: You mentioned IMate Jam? This is a HTC UNIVERSAL thread otherwise known as O2 Executive, MDA TMobile PRO, QTEK 9000, IMate JASJAR, etc... I don't know what an IMate JAM is. So I am concluding you are on the wrong page.
2nd: On the first question you posted, YES that link is WM6 or CROSSBOW for the HTC UNIVERSAL. So, I am assuming you are using a different phone since the name you posted is IMate JAM. DON'T INTERCHANGE THEIR NAMES, AS YOU CAN SERIOUSLY BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
3rd: The term you mentioned HTC UNIVERSAL is the generic name. O2 Executive, MDA TMobile PRO, QTEK 9000, IMate JASJAR, etc... are brand names. CROSSBOW is the same as Windows Mobile 6.

are there other forums than Universal with ROM updates ? precisely for i-mate JAMIn ?
i'm really confused here... but are those ROMs replicas of an official WM6 upgrade from microsoft ? do the ROMs give the 'impression' that users have installed WM6 or are they true ones ? (after all , the version of helmi_c's ROM for example is WM6 OS 5.2.318 ... so its basically still version 5... right ?
btw from my "Device Information" in the system settings I read that my ROM version of my JAMIn is 2.13.9.23 WWE.... does that mean that if I install helmi_c's ROM (2.01.08 WWE) I'll be DOWNGRADING my ROM ? :S:S:S

These ROM's for the Universal are UNOFFICIAL release, but they are genuine Microsoft Crossbow ROMs made to run on our device.

Cant any1 here cook a wm6-rom for trinity?

All the new tools over at the hermes forum isnt it possible to cook a WM6-rom for trinity with thoose. Damn that I dont have the knowledge.

I'm a little confused. What does WM6 have or do that WM5 doesn't? I hate newly released Micro$oft products as they are generally full of bugs and holes and nothing seems to work right (Vista) or am I messing something? Just wondering what I would gain by moving to WM6.

So the Hermes WM6 has XIP Kernel made especially for Hermes from MS? If we are to get WM6 on the Trinity, we need to find a WM6 ROM with a kernel that is made especially for the Trinity from MS? Is my logic right?

afterall it's reversible... if the phone doesn't boot, mtty your original OS.nb in and presto!

If you load hermes OS.nb to Trinity - you device die!

So we have to find a leaked WM6-rom for Trinity then. Hmmm probably easier to find water in the sahara dessert.

So will never see wm6 on trinity???

I've tried to flash the OS from hermes in my trinity. Doesn't work.
I thought my device had died but i managed to get into the bootloader (after reinserting battery) end reflash trinity rom

Today is a BAD day!!!

better not put radios on cooked roms, can easily brick the device... if you are testing OS just put OS on the nbh file.

How to cook own rom

I am intrested in making my zinc WM6 ... but I couldnt find any in cooked rom for it. Just wondering is there any how to in making cooked rom? also where can i find the base WM6? Would be very grateful if anyone can share the know how ... eace:

for most devices cooking mean adding programs one wants in extented rom so they autoinstall
there is no such thing as a base rom all roms are unique to the device they were made for

a beta test rom was leaked for some devices
like many of the wm5 roms for devices like himalaya and blue angel were leaked
but some devices will get official roms from htc believe hermes is one of those

Um, very interesting. Rudegar, seems like you know a lot about this ROM business. (myself, i'm unexperienced, but would like to know something). So, tell me:
I personally own a Dell Axim x50v WM5 A02, and while Dell would no longer provide any, since they just discontinued those models, i was searching for the custom upgrades.
So, do you need to have a leaked base WM6 ROM specifically designed to be run on an Axim, in order to built a WM6 Custom ROM for Dell Axim, or can you still make one from scratch, AND i mean use any leaked WM6 ROM (such as the one for the Hermes), and then rewrite some lines of code in order to adjust it to the different drivers installed on an Axim?
Some Russian guys from 4PDA made a WM5 AKU 3.5.2 custom upgrade for the Dell Axim by adjusting it to its drivers (they are experiencing some issues with them thou). While it is not WM6, do you need to have a leaked AKU or something for that device as well, or is it just for running an entirely different operating system on it? WM5 itself is a natural OS running on a Dell Axim x51v.
But they also claimed that they can make in the same way Wm6 upgrade for Dell Axim. Without the already leaked WM6 ROM for it, is it really possible?

Cooks Help needed.

Just a little bit of info needed as I am new to all this cooking ROMS.
I am using the Core Kitchen which I have found easy when extracting a ROM and I have been using the schaps ROM as it contats the RGU files with the packages as oppose to the Black Roms which dont and I am not confident enough to be able to sort out that mess yet.
The question is in two parts and I hope you can help me a little.
Part 1: when you extract the ROM what is contained in the OS.nb file the reas on I ask is I want to get a Basic from MS ROM so I can start with my own ROM building as oppose to someone elses (VERY GOOD I MIGHT ADD) ROM.
Part 2: where can I get the RTM M$ WM6 ROM from a rom without any modifications or any added packages just the M$ PDA/PHONE ROM.
Please help this is the only two bits that im really lost with.

Not sure im new to all this myself as you can prob tell.
Vanilla ROM has too many missig files that I cannot even find according to the tutorial with CORE an official ROM wont have any missing files schaps only has 1 which i know where to find it so can put it in the right place.
It just seems easier to want to start with a RTM official M$ rom and build on it rather than hack bits out of an already cooked rom.

Its on the Wiki i looked at Cooked Roms on the main wiki page and then it gave me a list of them that were avaliable. Vanilla was on the top of the list.

you can also give a look at the Dopod ROM posted here in the forum... even that its not the newes build, it has nothing added/mising; it could be a good start point.

if anyone knows where I can get a later build RTM that's not cooked already you would be number 1 on my xmas card list lol.

I would suggest you spend a little time in the upgrading section. As far as a stock windows mobile 6 rom, the problem is there aren't any yet. Although I think some upgrades may be coming along in the next few months. The roms here are pieced together from other machines or pulled from unreleased versions. I don't know of a true "stock" hermes wm6 rom at this point. You could get a WM5 rom to practice with which would show you what to expect, and what "comes with" though.

is there any WM6-Rom works with Blackberry Connect on the Trinity?
I tried out some, but I couldn't find any version/combination that works.
It disconnects shortly after the first NW connection.

I have the same problem here. I am using DOPOD D810 with official WM6 ROM from HTC. I am using BB2.1 from Dopod site.

I install the WM6 original File Dopod and BB 2.1 and don't work
Please can you say exactly the versions of WM6 dopod and BB you used, and the links...

I thinkk it is fair to say, that so far no BBC client works under WM6 on the Blackberry. Would be great to hear any different...

I know one solution.
We should edit coredll version (5.2.1437) in xip section to 5.1.195 (i.e)
And reflash this new rom. BB should work in this way )

I have red about these versions, but I did not want to try since nobody tried it out in the combination. I really hope someone cookes that in a ROM or make installable solutions.

Thanks, but I'am beginner and my english is bad , and this changue is imposible for me....
The moment I'am waiting some peple make a Rom with this modification,
I feel my attitude but I am not able to make that modification.
