i just bought an i-mate JAMin yesterday, so im new to windows mobile.
Its OS is (from what im reading from the "about" in the system settings):
Microsoft windows mobile version 5.0
OS 5.1.196 (build 14847.2.0.0) etc...

Now i was just wondering (from what i'm reading in this forum), if my WM5 can be upgraded to WM6 ??? just like the one im reading about in this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/6/default.mspx
im sure that i have a HTC phone since when i turn on my imate i get "HTC" with a white background...

As a quick summary, i have 2 questions:

1st: You mentioned IMate Jam? This is a HTC UNIVERSAL thread otherwise known as O2 Executive, MDA TMobile PRO, QTEK 9000, IMate JASJAR, etc... I don't know what an IMate JAM is. So I am concluding you are on the wrong page.
2nd: On the first question you posted, YES that link is WM6 or CROSSBOW for the HTC UNIVERSAL. So, I am assuming you are using a different phone since the name you posted is IMate JAM. DON'T INTERCHANGE THEIR NAMES, AS YOU CAN SERIOUSLY BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
3rd: The term you mentioned HTC UNIVERSAL is the generic name. O2 Executive, MDA TMobile PRO, QTEK 9000, IMate JASJAR, etc... are brand names. CROSSBOW is the same as Windows Mobile 6.
umm... actually its JAMIn... i-mate JAMIn...
are there other forums than Universal with ROM updates ? precisely for i-mate JAMIn ?
i'm really confused here... but are those ROMs replicas of an official WM6 upgrade from microsoft ? do the ROMs give the 'impression' that users have installed WM6 or are they true ones ? (after all , the version of helmi_c's ROM for example is WM6 OS 5.2.318 ... so its basically still version 5... right ?
btw from my "Device Information" in the system settings I read that my ROM version of my JAMIn is 2.13.9.23 WWE.... does that mean that if I install helmi_c's ROM (2.01.08 WWE) I'll be DOWNGRADING my ROM ? :S:S:S

These ROM's for the Universal are UNOFFICIAL release, but they are genuine Microsoft Crossbow ROMs made to run on our device.

Radio Upgrade
I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade to the latest Radio version without Hard Resetting the BA. Also the link to the Radio version 1.15 seems to be broken as it only links to version 1.13

Long time BA user, tried every WM5 ROM out there and just wish I was technical enough to try building one myself but I'm not. Just wondering though; since there are so many WM6 ROMS for the Wizard, and since the first WM5 ROMS were ported from Wizard... shouldn't we be able to get WM6 on the BA?
I was able to flash the radio after my WM5 upgrade.

Hi there,
Since Crossbow is running perfectly on my Universal, I wanted to give another model a try, so anyone ever succeeded in having the iPAQ hx4700 running Crossbow?
I know it might be a bit dangerous, but I already tried to put the hx4700 in the bootloader and to flash a HTC Universal Crossbow ROM.
It actually starts upgrading, but after a few %'s the screen turns blank and with a soft reset the device will restart.
Something to forget or is there a way?
i m currently doing some rom cooking for my 4700...

Is this a ROM for the hx4700?
If it isn't this is no new leaked ROM. It's one of the first WM6 ROM's for the HTC Universal. Many other have already been released after this one.

like editing paging pool and removing some rubbish
added some wm6 rings into the rom and stuff.

Any progress made on a Crossbow ROM for hx4700?
I'm really interested on some new ROM for the hx4700. It has not been beaten yet in terms of speed and screen size! Why not WM6 on it??
I already found a few ROM's, but i'm hoping too, that the hx4700 community will pick this up as well as the HTC one ...

I am really new with in this topic and think i would need some advice / maybe help to try an wm6 upgrade of my O2 XDA Mini S (Qtek 9100).
I currently have the following plan:
Recently O2 released an WM6 Upgrade for the (much newer) XDA Orbit Model. So far I was able to extract the ROM-Update contents (got some nb-files including one 06_OS.nb).
I also have done a backup of my current ROM using aWizard. The tool created a backup that consists of some nba-files (there's also an os-rom-file). Is it possible to convert the Orbit WM6 OS-ROM to nba-format and exchanging the original OS-File of the aWizards-Backup to flash it back to my XDA with WM6?
Some might say I could use an WWE WM6 (f.e. Crossbow), but I would like to have WM6 in German and don't know where else I could find one matching in German for my phone.
Could anyone help me or give me some advise?

Hello, thanks for your reply. I recently had a look at some posts about upgrading. But so far I didn't find a post to cook a ROM basing on my own (original O2) OS-ROM. The procedures I figured out in the forum seem to be very complicated. Isn't there a less complicated way to do it?

I need to get official Wm6.1 rom for my spv m3100 (Orange).
I tried to search forum and wiki, but failed to get some required result.
I would really appreciate if anyone can find my desired rom.
In fact I have'nt dumped my original wm5 rom and loaded HARDSPL 7 and then flashed with other hermes roms one by one.

Yes, I have HardSPL 7. But that's for preventing the Bricking.
Why original rom will brick a HardSPL installed phone?
Hi, i'm a little bit confused on models of ARTE200 and his association with HTC P3300.
I've a pocket PC Orange branded:
Model: ARTE200
Platform: PocketPC
Windows 5 English
If i don't get wrong this pocket pc is like HTC P3300 branded.
Now i would upgrade my windows to Windows 6 and my dubt is:

ARTE 200 is the HTC P3301, but I don't know if you can flash the ROM of P3300.

I have a ARTE200 too. It's called O2 XDA Orbit here. I allways flash the normal Artemis Roms to this phone. The Only Problem is that the Backlight sometimes turn off after reset when i have flashed the custum SPL 1.11.cmon
But this is just a little thing
Oh i forgot. For Hard-Reset you press the left and right softkey button together and then turn on or make a softreset. wait until some text is displayed and you can release the two buttons.
But i think in the forum it's postet somewhere
you can flash the ROMs posted here in the artemis section
but before that you will need to get USPL which allows you to flash custom ROMs (ie ROMs posted by XDA members)

Otherwise i can use one from the following:

NO_NONSENSE SERIES
CLEAN ROM
WM 6.5 BETA SERIES
CLEAN ROM(GER)
If i can't use one of roms posted by sheennick123456, i should download the original rom from xda.o2.co.uk but in the web-site i can upgrade to WM6 only for XDA oRBIT 2 e not for my model. In your opinion, can i solve the problem or forget it ?
