Cooks Help needed. - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Just a little bit of info needed as I am new to all this cooking ROMS.
I am using the Core Kitchen which I have found easy when extracting a ROM and I have been using the schaps ROM as it contats the RGU files with the packages as oppose to the Black Roms which dont and I am not confident enough to be able to sort out that mess yet.
The question is in two parts and I hope you can help me a little.
Part 1: when you extract the ROM what is contained in the OS.nb file the reas on I ask is I want to get a Basic from MS ROM so I can start with my own ROM building as oppose to someone elses (VERY GOOD I MIGHT ADD) ROM.
Part 2: where can I get the RTM M$ WM6 ROM from a rom without any modifications or any added packages just the M$ PDA/PHONE ROM.
Please help this is the only two bits that im really lost with.
I have a Vario 2 on T Mobile uk

you might want to look at the FTP for vanilla wm6 roms...
the last time i checked, it was still there.

I have seen the Vanilla ROM is that the M$ RTM base OS then ???

hey guys,
can you tell me what specs you enter into duttys tool as im having problems?
thanks in advance
PDAJAS
ImateJasjam (HERMES100)
Radio: 1.20.31.10
Rom: Black IV Shadow
Olipro 2.10
Telstra AUS

Not sure im new to all this myself as you can prob tell.
Vanilla ROM has too many missig files that I cannot even find according to the tutorial with CORE an official ROM wont have any missing files schaps only has 1 which i know where to find it so can put it in the right place.
It just seems easier to want to start with a RTM official M$ rom and build on it rather than hack bits out of an already cooked rom.

the FTP?
Where is this? (it's early for me, is it in the wiki?)

Its on the Wiki i looked at Cooked Roms on the main wiki page and then it gave me a list of them that were avaliable. Vanilla was on the top of the list.

Skauk,
you can also give a look at the Dopod ROM posted here in the forum... even that its not the newes build, it has nothing added/mising; it could be a good start point.
Regards;

thankyou I will give dopod a look tonight then its so anoying that you cannot get hold of the latest builds that some of these people have so we might start without the bugs of previous builds...
if anyone knows where I can get a later build RTM that's not cooked already you would be number 1 on my xmas card list lol.

Dopod ispretty hard to work out also so anyone else help me find latest build wm6 so i can build on it ??

I would suggest you spend a little time in the upgrading section. As far as a stock windows mobile 6 rom, the problem is there aren't any yet. Although I think some upgrades may be coming along in the next few months. The roms here are pieced together from other machines or pulled from unreleased versions. I don't know of a true "stock" hermes wm6 rom at this point. You could get a WM5 rom to practice with which would show you what to expect, and what "comes with" though.
Good luck,

FTP and ROMs ?

Hi guys, me again,
I've been into the FTP 3 or 4 times in the last hour to get that Vanilla ROM but I can't find it anywhere and to be exact I can't find any ROMs anywhere. No Helmi's or Ivan's as well.
Can someone tell me what's going on or if I need to buy glasses ?
Philippe
I think the server is down as I cannot even login to it to retrieve any roms.
It's been removed at the request of Microsoft.
Unless someone leaks it somewhere else, it will not be hosted here anymore.
Not until devices are available commercially running Crossbow anyway.
Even Helmi's and Ivan's latest ROMs ?
does this also include Helmi_UNI_AKU3.5_v1.3.rar file as well.
Helmi's and Ivan's WM5 AKU3.5 ROMs have been moved to the "permanent" section:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Universal/Cooked_ROMs/
They do not appear to be working either.
Is the entire FTP down or just so slow that my FTP program keeps timing out?
I think we could have another problem :
Yes WM6 will be released soon (March ) but will HTC/Qteck or other oem vendors release a WM6 rom for Universal ?
If they don't: will it be legal to publish an Universal ROM ?
Actually the last build is 15342 but impossible to have it
And if it's true that universal is eol , we will never see an official rom
@hanhha2000: I just clicked on the link that I posted and it took me straight to the "Cooked ROM" folder - then I tried Helmi's folder, and his latest 1.3.1 ROM, and it started downloading quickly enough....
Seems to be working well from my end.... I don't know what to suggest!?
@poussin69: WM5 was never officially released for the the BA as far as I'm aware, and Microsoft aren't too bothered about that little project, so I guess once WM6 is out and about and earning them a shedload more cash, they'll turn a blind eye to any Universal ROMs. I assume they want the previews taken down because there isn't a fully working WM6 version available, and they don't want the WM6 "brand" bad-mouthed by people who are expecting a finalised and polished OS?

WM6 on my P3600. What to download?

Hi!
I'm a bit confused by all the threads here. I am looking for the "official" and most stable english/us version of WM6 that works with my P3600. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I appreciate all replies!
There is no "official" version for P3600 as this is yet to be released. You can risk installing a cooked version, the DOPOD release or wait like everyone else.

I know, that's why I wrote "official". What I meant was the most "commonly" used cooked version that is. I hear alot about the DOPOD version, but I can't seem to find the latest version anywhere. Care to guide me in the right direction here? Thanks.
If you search the forums this question has been talked about many times. There is no right cooked version as each is different and depends on your requirement. I would suggest you install, have a play and see if its right for you. I have gone back to WM5 as it is more stabble and less buggy than cooked versions. At the end of the day I just want a phone that works without hasstle. In any case most WM6 functionality can be installed on WM5 anyhow through individual CAB files.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into it and consider if it's worth installing a cooked version.

WM6.1 beta expired hack?

I have a WM6.1 beta rom that expired on my PDA, but there is no future release. Is there a hack to prevent the rom being expired?
More information like make, model of pda and rom?
I have a IPAQ 6945 with WM6.1 loaded, but the beta expired, and the person who cooked it is no longer working on it. Does anyone know how to revive the PDA to the current date?
Try that:

Thanks
Thanks for the link, I looked at the file, needs to be cooked into the rom, I need something to break the timebomb since my rom is already cooked. Anyway to disable timebomb after a cooked rom?
I am looking at some tutorials on how to cook my own WM6.1, so I can share for others who have a 69xx.
TRY THIS ONE TO EXTRACT YOUR ROM

Pls post any pictures from you hw6945 & wm6
Looks like you need to share the rom before people can look at it.
Who did you get the rom from? If you're allowed to distribute it, share it, and then others can disassemble and remove the bomb.
There are various guides for ripping from various devices, but how did you install the rom in the first place? It'd be best to distribute it as you received it, as a cooked rom, rather than a rom rip, to be sure it's a complete and usable rom.
Where is the rom expiring? Once it's booted, or pre-boot? Please post screenshots in the mean time. But again, post the rom (if you're allowed to) and we'll take it apart.

I will post some screenshots, but I am not allowed to distribute the rom, but willing to take it apart and see what I can do. So any tools will be helpful.
WM 6.1
Hi blew888,
Show pics with your HP and WM 6.1 ROM
Here are the screenshots, to my settings, everything works fine, but the year is set to 2006, if I set to 2008, timebomb occurs, even if I use activesync to sync contacts. If anyone can help me find tools to decompile and recompile a rom that I can share, I will be appreciated.
Very nice,
But now how can you share the ROM ...???
Your beta OS was canceled due to lots of issue with the processor speed
The new wm6.1 looks like this
And if you want you can make it look like this
There is a problem with someone that wants to copy his installed OS but not gave the NBF file, there are more question to be asked due to the attached pictures but It looks like a very nice joke
EREZYAD
What is your phone??
hw6915 wm5 modified with some software like shell 2 ,o2 last call plugin, WM6 today screen ,my name at bottom right is shortcut to new menu and shell and alot more nice things

Yes, this is a really early build of 6.x. When I flash the OS, the welcome screen is all messed up, but I can set the default windows green them, looks like the WM5. I believe they tried to use the same theme, but I was able to fix the issues the theme.

ROM Porting.

Call me stupid, but I have searched around ALOT on this forum for an answer to my question but have yet found any relevance to what I am looking for.
I want to start cooking my own Artemis ROM's. As far as I have read the easiest way is by using something called HyperCore kitchen. Now, I've started using this, but have found out afterwards that cooked ROM's available to download on here, cannot be extracted properly so as to be able to make one of them custom for what I want.
And as there is no official WM6.1 ROM for the Artemis, I am at a loss.
Basically, what I am asking to do, is to find out how to port a Kaiser WM6.1 official ROM so that it would be usable on the Artemis. Alternatively, perhaps find out what files are required from the Kaiser ROM to make the official WM6 Artemis ROM into WM6.1.
I hope I haven't confused you all. Any help would be greatly appreciated, maybe from bepe, tom_codon, Anja, NhatHoa? Any of you guys still about these days?
90 Views and nobody else knows anything?
This is starting to bug me now
I have looked everywhere. I have used the search, the wiki, google! I can't find any reference anywhere that explains to me how I can properly make a WM6.1 ROM for my Artemis using the required 6.1 files from a Diamond ROM.
HELP!!!!!!!
Start off with a base ROM first instead of porting. Porting can get very tricky and complicated. I'm currently in the attempt of porting a ROM (for the Hermes) and let me tell you, it's not easy. If you want to know more, i can show you what i'm doing via IM (faster) or here.

asus p835 new wm6.5 rom, anyone?

I was wandering is there anyone can cook up a new wm6.5 rom with latest built? I have a feeling that asus isn't going to release an official rom upgrade, so i was wondering if there is anyone can help cook one?
regards,
blue
i want to have it too
Can't find any update on this so far
Even I am also looking for it and have been asking for this in many thread.
Please someone help us.
or if someone cold e kind enough to guide on how to cook a rom so that may be we can give a try.
You need to search better...
Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=527040
Build 21812 was out atleast... Dunno if there's a more recent build around for the P835
My guess is your best bet is to pm hdubli to see if he still has the kitchen or if he cooked anything else for the device...
Hi I have been using winmo 6.5 for build 21812 cooked by Hdubli
however there are some more recent builds and I wanted to try a rom with a newer and final build for 6.5 , please someone help us.
Already got in touch with Hdubli before this thread and he is on another model of phone, not P835 anymore.
still no luck so far. But i'm using 21812 build now. Kind of usable. I think at least better than using the old 6.1. But feels a bit glitchy. Seems like the touch screen is not as responsive as before, just a little.
oh well.. at least thanks to the person that made this ROM for us.
