Currently using Midgets Vanilla ROM, and not had any real issues with it, apart from being slow at times.
Im not interested in ROMS that have just had a tweak here and there, and with OS build numbers changed, but genuine ones, ie HelmiC I hear a lot about.
Or should I just stick with my current ROM until a PROPER ROM is released.
Cheers
Personally, after testing them myself a few weeks ago, and seeing there are no real new roms here, I would wait until a commercial device is released that can be extracted, and is then cooked for the Universal.
OK thanks for the quick reply Alan!
What ROM are you personally using?
I also see your from the West Mids?
Whereabouts? I'm from by the Merry Hill shopping centre near Dudley if you know it!
I have heard of it, I just live here though, am a southerner really
I'm using the Indra rom which is also based on the original helmi rom.
Cheers Al.

But what is the latest ROM you're using now? I've been out of the running for almost a year (on PDA-front that is ), and I am still using 1.30.77wwe, with radio 1.09.
What ROM are you using now, and why?
I am happy using this version, but there are still some issues that I couldnt solve about a year ago. One of them is using wireless with WPA-PSK authentication. Also my stereo-audio connection with Jabra 620 sux, the sound is choppy like hell most of the times. I tried all rom-versions some while ago, but noting helped.
Is changing to a newer rom a solution?
can anyone here help me with a download link to wm6.1 update rom for my o2 xda exec thanks i'm from the midlands

mods: feel free to edit the poll if I have forgotten a version...
You didn't distinguish between the xda lives.. .1 .2 or .20.1 and soon to be .30
xda live .20 here
I am now using WM6 - LVSW, it is fantastic. I love it so much.
Maybe stupid question. What is LVSW?
Tried LVSW, but returned to XDA live 0.2. It's faster and more stable.
I think come april 1st that poll will switch with live .30 coming
IMO XDA-Live is nice, but it's WAY too bloated with crap I don't need. So I'm using LVSW, and it's been working great for me.

Lol, I had the exact opposite experience. I tried .20 xda-live and had stability issues where LVSW has been like a fricken ROCK!
XDA Live .1 .. I had some issues using .2 so I had gone back to .1 .. Waiting for .3, but I may try LVSW..

I know, but the poll was about all kind of Rom's.. ( I Guessed )
Further i'll be in every kind of rom section to read all kind of post for information
NO FREEZES at all with XDA-live 0.10 - happy from day 1!
Had a lot of problems with the WM5 and already ordered a different phone. Then the "0.1" just made my day
Ok, I'm pretty much getting to grips with my IIs...
I've already upgraded my rom to o2's 1.40242 (up and down just to practice) and I know what I'm doing in so far as editing my registry... but my machine still isn't all it could be.
I've pretty much read the forum upside down, but there are so many options to this and that scattered around in the various threads that that it would take me forever to try them all for functionality, so as opposed to asking for help, I'd like to instead call upon your collective experience.
As said I'm looking to make my machine the best it can be for a wm2003se PDA (not really looking to upgrade to wm5 because 2003 is still the most compatible os out there at the mo), so I'd like your thoughts on the best roms and radio versions based on your useage. (best being most stable and functional (heh, I really like a2dp... but I know the issues).
So... what's your advise?
Thx in advance, all suggestions most welcome (well.... the non-profane ones anyway. )
Finally... big kudos to all the devs,(pro and hobby) you all done some really stunning stuff, this is a hell of a forum. (I'd name them but I'd like to finish this post today.)
maybe you can try he system rom from this progect:
http://sx66-blueangel.home.comcast.net/
also, upgrade your radio to the latest one.
MORE options!... are you purposely trying to give me brain melt?
I might give it a try at some point when it comes out of beta... but for the moment I'm really just going for stability and functionality.
Also you mentioned the latest radio rom.. which (if I'm correct) is the 1.15 version.. but I've read that alot of people have gone back to 1.13.... ho hum.
Thx though.
Any more suggestions, people?
What about suggesting a really nice cooked rom (or baked.. whatever.)
Also any chance of giving me a reason why you would recommend a particular rom over another?
Thx.

no problem man
I'll try the upgrade to radio 1.15, and if it don't go well, i'll change to 1.13.
Anyway, also would like to try out one WM5 release, I am thinking in one clean helmi release.
Also, i've got from one portuguese forum, some interesting files that put the 2003 SE with one graphical aspect similar to wm6. (thats one of the things i'll try.
By studying all those files, maybe one day, we can compile one rom to our needs.
Sounds interesting.. but watch you don't slow your machine down to much.. that's (and compatibility issues) my main reason for not going to new with my os.. all the pretties just bog the system down.
I will try.
also, i believe those new rom's are much faster and stable than the first ones that appeared.

here, the only recommendations we get is this: "screw it alone, we don't like you to do questions"
but for WM2003 there aren't big recommendations. it is already one outdated platform, and all of them are with the eyes on WM5 platform.
the last system roms are based on 1.42.xxx

hi! well, now I am using helmi wm5. its more stable, btw. I dunno about my bt stack. the other rom I had, was from sx66 standardization.
I have tried at least a dozen roms from different cooks. I am not sure if I am correct on this, but Faria's super clean rom blows everything away. Don't get me wrong, I think there are decent roms out there like the black version. But in my experience it just this faria rom is in a different class. I am refering not only to speed, but to stability as well
I have noticed there is not much discussion around this rom. Is there something I am missing?

I have to agree I feel the same way. I have tested almost all ROMs cooked around here and, although all of them have their particular things, either good or bad, I have to admit that Faria's ROM felt the most appropriate for me.
I am really wondering if Faria is going to release a new version of his ROM or not. I would really be among the first to try it.
I dont remember why I have given up on his ROM, but i think there was a missing functionality. Other than that, it was the most stable/fast ROM I have tried. At least in my case.

By the way, I was also statisfied with faria's clean rom and I used it before i moved over to JJ's Black Majik LE. I guess the performance is achieved by the slimming the \windows-directory.
Some more rom-cooks should provide a light edition and deliver extra apps as extra cabs, since I think, LE's got the best performance.
I would also have to agree, would like to see a loaded ROM too.
As saves me installing so much.
faria's super clean rom is by far the quickist and best rom, infact its the ONLY rom Ive run on my phone for over a month!!! Just a shame we not had anything since.

does anyone talk to him in private, PM or so?
Maybe he can reveal if a new Faria ROM is on the way. that would be cool...
I do know he is very busy with his "normal life" nowdays and as such think this is the reason why we have not seen or heard from him. He was a true star on the wizard scene back in the day, a true gentleman too. I hope someday he will grace us again soon
Faria's been out of commission for a little while, relocating his family. He DOES have priorities ...
We converse fairly frequently, whenever he can find a hotspot or my wife doesn't catch the texting charges, ehehe!
He is a great chef, a gentleman and is a privilege to be his friend.
I'm expecting him back with a vengeance, nobody cooks quite like Jose. And it'sal.ways worth the wait!
Peace, out.

This weekend I’m doing the final move to the new island...then I going to get dsl again and probably another laptop.
As for ROMs...I have another 2 new builds, one of them was supposed to be released very soon but disaster stroke with the laptop...
a will release more ROMs in future including a Portuguese rom for the Hermes but first I need got get my life together, I’m sure you guys understand.
I hope that i will see you all soon.

I have tried every Rom almost...Elf v2.1, Black 3.0,3.5,Shadow,Magik,Custel,lvsw vpg cingular, sleuth developer...i must say, sleuth/faria's have the FASTEST roms..as in delay time, screen positioning after the keyboard is slided down,etc...faria's takes the edge in speed..but I personally still run Black Magik as it is customized to the way I want it, I have to do too much stuff to faria's rom to get it to my likings, and it is very stable but I did have problems with some programs...anyways I am definately waiting for v2.0!! hope all is well soon.

And if that means that HTC are taking the time and effort to build SDHC capability into the ROM, I'm happy to wait....
(And I still believe in Santa Claus too......)
Well.... their DOPOD WM6 ROM has been on official release in Asia since July, so there most be something special coming in the European P3300 ROM over and above the Asian WM6 ROM to make it take three months longer....
I can but hope....

My device was replaced already... so I'm more cautious. I always flash my DVD player ROM with newest version but Artemis is a little too expansive for me to experiment. Besides, if you have unofficial ROM it's harder to diagnose source of problems and to gain HTC support help. On the other side HTC support is so poor that it may be not worth of consideration.
So I'm happy that people have possibility to try our cookers ROMs, but I will wait for HTC (about 2 weeks I hope).

I'm looking for a new ROM and was after some advise.
I've been running the stock HTC ROM on my O2 Ignito since day one (O2 ROM is the awfal), and upgraded to the new release last weekend. But i'm now getting itchy feet (and have some spare time at work) and would like to try some cooked ROMs.
I'm after something that is fast + stable and is good for multimedia, web access and I don't want any fancy skins on TF3D.
Anyone got any suggestion?

I have been using Shaks 3.10 ROM for some time now and have had absolutely no problems. My Diamond is in use 24 hours a day and for at least 8 of those hours is running TomTom. (incidentally, using TomTom v 7.910 with this ROM has almost zero lag). The ROM has recently been updated to v3.2 but as I am so pleased with the version I am using I have not switched. I have tried most of the WWE ROMs you will find here and this is the most reliable I have found.

You arent gonna get good answers asking that.....
Everyone believes that the best ROM is the ROM that fits your needs better. For some Duttys might be great for some it might not (like me).
It all boils down to the personal choice and the "feeling" that you get form the ROMS.
Personally I am using Swtos V2.5 Almost Full. It is amazing.
I also recommend very good ROMS by Chef udK.
But once again its a personal choice. Thats why you will get crappy answers for a crappy question.
Start flashing and testing, you will eventually find the perfect ROM.
Greets.
unfortunately - there is no simple answer to the best ROM, you might want to check some great benchmarks by pietrucci here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406640
i keep moving from one to another every week or so
good luck!
While it may not have been said in the nicest way, cyron_at is correct. The best way to find a ROM for appropriate for your use is to browse the Diamond ROM Development forum, and read the first few posts of each ROM thread. By doing this, you will be able to determine if a particular ROM suits your needs.
