Hi Everyone,
Why are O2 customer services so stupid. I have a O2 sim card in my unbranded HTC P3300 so I have no settings pre installed. Everytime I ring O2 to ask them for the settings so i can manually input them they send me an email telling me to go Start > Programs > O2 operator settings. Ive told them time and time again that it is not an O2 orbit but its the same phone and doesnt have that option but they just cant seem to get it.
Can someone with an O2-UK Orbit read out the settings for MMS/GPRS/GSM and post them up so I can manually input them into my P3300 please.
Thanks

Thank you for reading this.
You have rung Vodafone and asked them to enable your MMS option?
Yes Geoff but it is not a phone that they sell so they have not any settings to send
just search the forum few questions like that have not been asked before

It is with great thanks that I send this message to you Jedi. Jerk you most certainly are not. I have tried out the answer to my problem but alas it did not work. The settings on the spv are just different enough to matter. Still thanks again.
I Recently took ownership of the O2 Orbit aka the Artemis.
This is a continuation of an existing contract and instructions are to place existing sim into phone and switch on whereby it will I assume perform the necessary configuration. When I done this I received a txt message from O2 informing me of the following:
O2: Sorry your handset does not support automatic settings. Please call our care team on 100 for further assistance.
So as the msg goes I called the care team. They then asked the Orbit team who informed them that the handset should be returned, as it is faulty. They will arrange the swap. Phone appeared to function okay but who am I to question why. Phone swapped and new phone up and running…I have received the same message again! Now the phone appears to be working okay so not sure what to do next. Has anyone encountered this type of error before? And if so does anyone have a solution/suggestion as to what this exactly means? Thanks JD76.
I get this Error Message every time i order a configuration SMS for my device. I dont know if you know, but on the O2 Website, you can request a text message which is supposed to setup your device for different Services, e.g. MMS or Wap...
Well everytime i ordered such an SMS, my device would not get configured, reporting the Error "Your device does not support automatic configuration" which is not that bad at all i think, because everything works just fine, without any limitations and the Settings you need for Wap or MMS or other stuff can also be found on the O2 Website and can then be set-up manually.
So if you do not feel like replacing your handset again, i would just leave it, i am not experiencing any problems (I should mention though, that i run a CID unlocked T-Mobile MDA Compact 3 with german O2 Windows Mobile 6 ROM) but i guess that makes no difference.
I had the same problem and was able to solve it by downloading this configuration .exe from HTC. Get the one that is regionally applicable to you...

Although it 'says' it is for the 3600, I used the German o2 setting without issue on my Orbit.
I have flashed my SPV M5000 with the latest Orange ROM, version 1.30.90.WWE on WM5. Don't know if it was missing before but now that I wanted to use MMS, I find that the option is missing in the accounts options. I do have an option to configure MMS and I can set a modem for Orange MMS, but if I try to switch from TEXT or OUTLOOK to MMS, the MMS option is just not there. Suspecting a registry problem I looked through the registry but cannot see anything obvious, although I am no expert on the M5000 registry. Can anyone please help me or give me the correct registry settings I should be looking for? Everything else works fine including email and Wi-Fi, although the finding the locations for the settings is not very friendly. Orange so fare have been useless - they confirm all my GPRS & MMS settings are correct amd also sent a SIM update to make sure they were. I am now waiting for Orange technical to come back to me, but I think you guys probably know more. Soft and hard resets do not make the MMS option appear. Richard B.
No MMS on Orange SPV M5000 resolved.
O.K. - after a lot of discussion with non-technical types belonging to Orange who tried to talk about technical issues in a three way conversation between I suspect India, Darlington and N.Wales and eventually being allowed to talk directly to their real engineers, I was told that this issue had been seen several times and that they did not really know why it happened as it happened intermitently. Having given up on Orange's extremely poor customer service, I gave the M5000 one last chance and burned the ROM for the 4th time. This time instead of using my main PC, I used my laptop and ensured that the USB cable was direct, also stopping anti-virus and all background programs except for the O.S. BINGO! The MMS appeared after hard reset. Why did I bother ringing Orange in the first place?

hi
the providor wont set it up as its an orange contract phone originally.so they wont send out the settings,
Hi.
Im from Czech Republic using Vodafone CZ. Few days ago i tried flashing for the first time and i used meschle's Artemis Touch 3.01 Full. In Network Wizard, there is no Czech Republic to select. So i selected UK and Vodafone.
Now i checked Settings -> Phone -> Network and there is Current Network Vodafone CZ and Network selection Manual. In Services tab Voice Mail and Text Messages Settings, there is right number for Text message service center (+420608005681)
And where is the problem. When I send a SMS or call to Vodafone CZ (my operator) or O2CZ everything is ok. But When i try to send SMS to T-Mobile CZ the message is not delivered however my Artemis looks like everything was ok. Same problem is with calling. I'm able to estabilish a call to/from T-Mobile CZ but the voice is not transfered.
When I first turned the phone on (after flashing), there was a message warning me about the wrong settings and sending me to the Network Wizard mentioned above. When I tried a call (to Vodafone CZ) everything worked, so i ignored that message.
Can anyone tell me, where can be the problem and what should I do?
and btw. thanks meschle for that ROM build. Its awesome and so much more faster than my previous ROM.
Thanks in advance
David
