I've been lurking and downloading from this great wiki since purchasing my MDA III 2 months ago. Pretty happy with it, but there is one missing feature I would like to have:
Is there a way to make the volume slider on the side of the BA turn off the phone ringer? Or can I program one of the buttons to turn off the phone ringer? More than once I have had to fumble with the BA to shut it up in a meeting or, worse, in a lecture with me as the lecturer!
I use PPCProfiles Pro... you can have buttons on the today page to instantly change to silent/loud/etc etc. Another good one is PocketZenPhone which I used to use but it caused some instability for me.
i recommend you use PocketZenPhone.. more stable
Yeah well as I said in my message, I had more stability issues with PZP
If, when the phone rings, you want to silence the device, the volume up/down slider does that anyway without adjusting the volume of the phone.
If you want to turn the ringer on or off by using the volume slider that's another story. I'm using O2Plus which gives you some phone customisations (not specific to O2) like phone/divert profiles. Can't say I've tried any others.
Dom
Thanks for the quick suggestions.
To clarify, I need to mute the ringer using one of the physical buttons exposed with the BA in an Innopocket aluminum case, without having to open the case. When the phone rings at an inappropriate time, I want to reach into my pocket and mute the ringer with one touch. The volume slider is exposed, but it won't shut off the ringer.
Just out of curiosity, I just bought the same innopocket hardcase today. Don't you find it to scratch easily your BA because of the sharp edges of the case and the very very tight closing system?
BTW, i use one of the hardware button (record) to switch between PZP profiles (quiet)

thanks for the advice on PZP. I've been using the innopocket for about 2 months and I don't see any scratches on the BA. I am pretty rough on PDAs, breaking 3 screens in 4 years, so my devices need the armor.
If I get a call and want to mute the ring tone, I just move the Volume slider on the side up or down one time, and it mutes the ring tone.
Yours should do the same???
bosjo, you are right! I am an idiot! I will now return to lurking and try not to waste any more time....
He he, give your self a pad on the shoulder and move on
We have all been there

Hi,
Qtek 2020 with 2003SE or Buzz WM5 does that!
In a incoming call, I can stop the ring using volume button slider.
Is you use WisBar Advance 2 (release for WM5) then this feature will not work, but they are working on it.
Is there seriously no way of setting individual volume levels for the ringtone and the notifications in vanilla android?!
Click volume rocker and the last volume change slider will appear. Click the drop down arrow on right side of slider and you can change individual volumes.
Sorry misread. I don't believe there is a way to change notification and ring separately
Is there a way to do it without root?
I like my notification volume reasonably quiet without it impacting the ring volume.
Sound profile in play store works well
Hi, is it normal that you can actually hear the vibration (quite loudly) when pressing nav bar buttons or typing etc?
I've not noticed it on previous/other phones so was wondering if it's faulty...
I think that you can switch the vibration level in the settings app. At least it worked for me in my old OP5.
Yea I have it set to the lowest level, but in a silent room you could still hear it from say 1-2 meters away. Sounds like when you blow on the lip of a glass bottle lol

Can you also feel slight vibration when you tap near the keyboard area? I think the vibration motor moves slightly when you tap the phone
No, I haven't noticed any other vibrations when tapping on the screen.
With regards to my issue, from watching YouTube videos it appears to be 'normal'.
Massive design floor in my opinion, what's the point of vibrate mode if it's just as loud as having touch sounds on lol!
same here, vibration is too loud and i find it very annoying to feel.Anyone did try adjust vibrations with custom kernel?
I had problems with ring so I bought replacement parts ( Sealing + Ball Bearings + Spring set), cleaned everything but ring is still not working – it looks good, works smooth and I hear click sound when turning around but in OS there is no feedback except one position. It is round so it is hard to say exact position but I have a scratch on a ring so when this scratch is on 10 and I move one position clockwise or counterclockwise I can see move but all other ring position is not having any feedback in OS. I don’t know how exactly this ring works and how can I fix this? I have photos and movie but I cant post it becuse I'm new member.
Can't make any notification sound except phone call
and when you try to change ringtones it mention ringer is silence
Does anyone know how to fix it?
i didn't turn on DND or silent mode
If you unlock your phone and press up or down volume, a column of volume control should appear based on what's running. The top section is the volume of one of the types (ringer, notification, alarm) and the bottom bit shows you the current silence or DND mode, and three dots. Press the three dots and you'll see the expanded panel showing all three volume settings.
I assume that you've got some level for ringer but nothing for the other two. Drag up from the bottom to set a volume. On my OS version dragging up from silence is a bit problematic so you might have to try several times if your OS is the same.
thanks a lot i didn't notice it
i will check it work or not later
thanks a lot
