hey there!
I was wondering if there exists somekind of plug-in for a pocket pc (windows mobile 2005) that makes you show the adress of your contacts on your gps.
To put it in another way: i would like to tab a contact and instead of selecting "voice call", "video call", "edit"... i would like to be able to tab "show adress on gps" or "drive to contact"... If you know what i mean...
if anyone could help me with this feel free to reply on this post or mail me @ [email protected]
thanx in advance...
There is a feature in TomTom 5 (not sure about TomTom 6), that once you right click a contact then "Show Address in Map" and the already defined address would open in TomTom.

Hi,
Activesynch 3.8 allowed you to select whether the computer or XDA would be prioritsed in case of information conflict.
I am now using Activesynch 4.2 which does not seem to offer the user to select if a conflict arises.
I have lost a couple of appointments because the PC overode the XDA.
Anyone got any hints to improve ActiveSynch??
Thanks
I have exactly the same gripe moving from my SPV C500 which ran Active Sync 3.8. That version of Active Sync was great. It synced almost twice as fast as this newer more improved version... And as you say it also gave the option of which device to use as the master in the event that two records were identified on both PC and SPV and they differed in the details.
Why oh why did Microsoft change this???!!!!
Beta 4.5 (2) allows you to choose when a conflict is found, it is available on the microsoft downloads site.
Doesn't the "Souce Settings" on the Activesynce running on your PDA work for this??
If there is a conflict, you select either
"replace the item on my device" or
"Keep the item on my device"
I thought this is what this settings if for??
Hey... trying to sync my contacts from outlook onto my new orbit.
when i connect the device it takes me through the wizard and i select contacts to sync. it comes up 'connected' and the 'explore' button is ighlighted ... but it doesn't sync and the 'sync' button is greyed out. the tools/options command is also greyed out. when i disconnect and reconnect the device i get the wizard again thinking it is a completely new device and i set it up again... this happens over and over!! all i want to do is sync my contacts!!!!...
...help!!

I was trying to access the PC side of Activesynch when not connected to Orbit.
Itr;s much easier to understand on the Orbit end.
Thanks again!
btw, Activesync 4.5 (after beta) is available.

In activesync click 'tools' then 'options'. Right click on the PC name (Right at the top - not the individual applications). Click 'source settings'. You can then select the source in case of conflict.

Ciao,
I have a WM6 tytn, I did setup a pop3 mail account but can't find the "leave messages on sever" option .. is it available ?
I understand that a simple sync with my pc does solve the problem but what about shared email accounts (like [email protected]) ?
ciao Ciao
Marco
Email Settings - on the page with the entrys "automatic send/receive" and "Download messages" you can find "Advanced settings". Tapping on this will open a new window, there you find "When deleting messages". Choose "keep them on server"
Hi all,
I'm using WM6 on my backup device, the XDA Orbit and have a few annoying niggles. Can anyone advise on the below?
1) I have 2 hotmail accounts - one personal, one business. I would like to have visibility of both in my messages window. To my knowledge, I can only use one at a time and have to switch accounts via Windows Live each time I want to view emails. Is there a way you can have both?
2) I can't seem to syncronise the new folders on the POP3 account I have. Is there a way? It's an O2 account. When I create a new folder on the XDA, it doesn't show when I log in via webpage & vice versa.
3) I'd like to be able to edit the caller display when someone calls. When a contact information is filled out in detail (i.e company, job title etc.), some of the information appears on the incoming caller display bubble. Ideally I just want the name, number and photo. Possible? Fussy I know
4) In WM5, you used to be able to turn WIFI on AND off via the GPRS icon (next to the phone signal icon/speaker/clock). In WM6, it seems you can only turn it on. I know it's lazy as the Comms Manager in the 'System Tray' is only a few taps away but is there anyway to resurrect the WM5 functionality or provide a link to a 3rd party app/plugin?
5) And finally...I'd also like a bluetooth plugin on the system tray for quick access - any links?
Thanks in advance,
GW
Q1 - 2 live mail accounts can be done by setting up 2nd account as POP3 but apparently you need a yearly MSN subscription to be able to use this. Will just make do with the one account!
Q2 - Been advised to set the account type to IMAP4 to be able to sync new folders although this doesn't seem to work with an O2 email account. Can live without it though.
Q3,Q4,Q5 - Appreciate these will require registry changes - does anyone know what strings/values to edit?
Q1: I have my hotmail via a outlook plugin called httpmail. I guess it would work also with two hotmail accounts.
Here is a link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=225779
Thanks, will check it out.
re: Q2, I don't think the sync can be done on POP3 accounts. Under Messaging > Account i.e. O2 > Tools > Manage Folders, when you click & hold on the new folder that's been created the only options are 'New Folder', 'Delete' or 'Rename'. There is 'Folder Options' but it's greyed out. There are no tick boxes next to the folder like there is for syncing a folder in the Windows Live account.
I've given up on Q4 but I'd really like to fix Q3 if possible, surely just a small registry change required there...just a case of finding what to edit! Anyone help with this?
230 views - come on, who can rise to the challenge of finding a fix for me
Just to summarise question:
is there a way (registry, 3rd party app. etc.) you can edit the details on the incoming caller display bubble. For example, when the 'company' field data is entered on a phone contact, it shows under the name & number when someone calls. Ideally I just want the name, number and photo, no other info.
Is this possible?

Is there a way of tweaking the People Tab in Touchflo to display the "file as" field of the contact in the text, rather then the contacts first name. It was one of my fave features of SPB Mobile Shell.
I think it depends on how you have your contacts entered in your address book. Mine are all synced from Outlook and the File As is set to "First Last", and that's how my People tab shows it. If you open up the MS contacts app on the phone, edit a contact, there should be a File As drop-down. I think by default it's Last, First or possibly just First if you don't have a last name entered.

Yeah, I have fileas set to First Last too, but for certain contacts in Outlook, such as buisness addresses, I don't put anything in the name fields, just the buisness field. Outlook then automatically sets the Fileas field to the buisness name instead.
At the minute, Touchflo just looks for the entry in the First Name field and shows that - I want it to show whatever is in the Fileas field instead. I'm currently using version 2.5, or Leo I think its codenamed.
Ah, yeah. I ran into that issue too. I ended up just having to copy the business name into the First name field in Outlook. Not the best solution, but it worked for me.
Aye, SPB used to be able to do it, so its not a fault with Windows mobile itself - there must be someway to tweak the registry or reverse the polarity or something.
hello;
need some help; hopefully being able to resolve the problem;
while ago I did upgrade to 3VO.2.80.092509, good so far, except the ringing problem that paid some people to solve it for me,
anyway;
recently I deleted my contact list from my mobile ( htc s621), now my contacts are in my outlook (outlook 2007), and I want to have them on my mobile.
whatever I do I can not get my contact list into my mobile, I am running win xp sp2 on my home pc, activesynce 4.5, I have deleted the " delete mobile device" from atcivesync window, and sync many times, it just does not work, no error has been given , I see the syncing process and shows how many contacts are syncing, when done and look at mobile contact list, nothing there.
I made a new contact in my mobile and synced it, the new has gone to outlook contact list, even I edited the new one in outlook and synced it again, the new contact on phone were updated,
but wonder why i can not get other contacts into the phone,
I switched " replace item on device" and "replace item on desktop", on activesync widow, still nothing,
whilie searching online for an answer, there was an answer that if I turn off the " enable advanced network functionality" it should work, and for the guy who werre seeking solution it did work, but I can not find such thing on my mobile.
it should be on setting/ connection/usb-pc/, but I guess it should be available on wm5 only I am not sure.
Anyone know how to make this works?
I don't wan to type over 100 contact names into my mobile again.
appreciate your help.
