New rom for Samsung SGH-I780 - i780MSHC3 (25.04.2008)

New English rom for Samsung i780:
Instructions:
1. Download the Samaung i600 modem drivers (google it) and INSTALL them.
2. Download the Mirage updater and Extact it:
http://rapidshare.com/files/110283700/Mirage_LV_v1.8.rar
3. Download the ROM it self and extract it:
http://rapidshare.com/files/110310144/i780MSHC3_UKENG_PDA.rar
4. run the mirage updater.
5. click on PDA and select the rom youve just extracted "i780MSHC3_UKENG_PDA.bin" and press open.
6. Click on DETECT.
7. on the phone:
a. remove the battery (Make sure it's over 50% charged)
b. Insert the Battery
c. click on the Enter Button + Function Button and while pressing them turn the i780 on
d. keep holding until the DETECT Message appears.
8. Connect the i780 to the PC.
9. Update begins,
10. Wait until completed.
In this rom :
1. New mouse driver
2. new samsung today screen (very nice)

No phone driver needed to flash the PDA section only.
The i600/i607 is required to flash the phone section or the whole ROM.

The skin is what SOTI Pocket Controller skin is, it's not my device.

If we judge by the operator fonts and softkeys fonts this should be arabic/india or something like that.

I have a slight problem, the phone doesn't seem to want to activate the phone service. It just says No Service. Also the i get a "Unknown SIM status" message come up
Anyone have any ideas? Its an Orange branded i780.

the other thing i've noticed is that it keeps switching back and forth from "no service" to "phone off"

Where on earth is the function button on the i780? Is that the one that activates the camera? And the DETECT message should show up the i780 or on PC? (logically following the steps it should show up on the i780.. but..) Anyone please enlighten me

Wow! Updated with no problems, phone works normally. Modem drivers were not needed for the PDA part. And the theme and home screen looks fantastic!! THANK TO ALL THAT MADE THIS POSSIBLE!!
One thing I noticed.. when I start a call, "CFC active" shows up in the upper left corner, no idea if it was there before... and no idea what it means

WHY DO I NEED THE MODEM DRIVERS? i didnt need them when i flashed the ROM last time

No joy here... Running on XP SP2. Installed AS 4.5, and modem drivers. Mirage is running in detect mode and then I start the i780 in emergency mode. XP detects the i780 but Mirage does not see it. No messages appear after Calculating done... When I disconnect the Samsung Mirage does give an error. Restarted the i780 and it runs its old OS. Any ideas?
FIX?:
1. Start Mirage
2. Click PDA and choose the BIN file
3. Click DETECT
4. Connect the USB cable
5. Turn on the i780 normally
The i780 will display PDA Image downloading... but it still doesn't work
Now enabled "skip checking the Magic Number" and I get a nice progressbar, I will let you know if this works... YES!

I not included much additions, because each decide for themselves that he would prefer to see in your device, but all the additions that are installed automatically can be found here

Has anybody tried that? Is it stable?

I have tried a few WM6.1 ROMs, and the one from DIVman is the best for me so far as I was looking for a clean one (I like to install my favorite programs).
This ROM is also really stable. This changes from the original "I am full of bug" WM6
The only problem I have for the moment is that I no longer see my WiFi in the Wireless Manager.
Anyone had the same problem ?
Is there some driver or hack to apply to fix this ?

Just download latest version of my ROM named 19213 build 3.

Do the clean version has the problem of Wifi vanishing after softreset?

How I install on my PDA this WM6.1 ROM?

There's problem with wifi on every wm6.1 rom i tried!
WM5 doesn't have these problems!

i am using clean version just updatet from wm5. i am very happy and thankful for your share. works wonderfull (incl. 8gb sdhc + wifi). i made a backup/restore with spb backup 2.0 (needed several changes and resets, but now everything works)
i also downloaded radio-rom update from asus, but worked as well with old radio-vers.
only wishes for previous version - i don't need voicecommander - so let the clean version really clean..
keep on thank you, can't wait for next release...

but one problem is that i need more ram - program memory, although i am using clean rom vers.
Perhaps it is possible to create a kind of cleaner rom e.g. without media player, voice commander, world card mobile, screen capture, remote desktop, picture and video, games ...

this thing is CRUCIAL to have specific country locale settings ONLY - font(set), date format, metrics, etc.
it has nothing to WM GUI language, though.
it may HAVE effect on language of installed programs, vide xnview, i.e.

So, no chance to get this nice ROM in German language .... ???

after a hard reset if you do a soft reset, you no longer see WiFi in the Wireless Manager; even in build3!
is there any patch to correct this?

UC add ons ? no really, no !
It's an automate tools for post rom installation.
You can add and / or remove my cab under SASHIMI / Auto / Cab and SASHIMI / Auto / Cab / SC
First for tools you want to install under internal memory
Second for tools you want to install under internal storage
If you want to move any new cab icon you install, edit SASHIMI / Auto / Scripts / Program.msrc
Add in section you want your icon title.
Hope you will like it

they support custom icon (I push my set on icon like theme, but any other icon can be use, and I can make any new one, just ask me )
directory name are choose by people under ini file, icon for directory are choose in this too, and name too (can use spanish language, russian, chinese .. as you want )

does not work on my Touch HD! The clock sometimes disappears, sometimes is there with a tiny arrow next to it, but in either case, if I tap on it, it brings me to the home.
Did you make it work on a Touch HD?

I use it without any problems.
My settings:
General tab - Tap X button = Cloce
- Tap & hold X = Popup menu
- Tap X & move = Minimize
Identificator tab - Main number = Local time
- Sub number = Current date
- Short date format = d/M
- Show battery level = Yes
Deactivate standard Task Manager : in Button tab - Enable Quick Menu on Today = No.

Try executing the exe directly on your phone, for example using the file explorer. It says in the first post:

Works great, but the placing is a bit off with WM 6.5 ROM. At least I can now have the original clock and the battery indicator as the thin line in the top of the screen.

Am using it with a 6.1 ROM now (duttys 1.7). Will try a 6.5 ROM soon, I will report back.
I have it set to a double press on the hangup button (but you will need a button assigner like AEButton for that). But the popup menu on X-button press options are pretty good, tho' I never got the hang of "tap X and slide".

problems
when in a program, and trying to access the popup menu(pressing the down error), pBar closes the running application, as if i tapped on the X.
When everything is closed and I press the down error to open the popup, it opens...
Ideeas ?

Sounds like you need to look at the settings menu (6th icon from the left). Play with the settings on the general tab.

editing eT9.Excalibur.0409.kmap.txt

I need to change the keymapping file in the windows section of the 6.5 roms for a norwegian version of the htc 620s.
I dont seem to be able to access the windows section from my pc (hidden) and the eT9.Excalibur.0409.kmap.txt seems the be protected from editing/replacement while trying to work with it from the phone.
Ive read some threads where people have written that have been able to edit the txt to suit some keymapping issues. But how do you do it ?

Hi, bruv. In attach u can find my eT9 for english keyboard. For editing it u need edit 2-nd column(it's letters then show then u tap button), 2-nd column(symbols produced by Fn + key), 3-d column (symbols in 123 mode).
NOTE!!! 1-st and last columns don't need editing!!!

For example u need printed 'W' then u pressed 'Q' button

Ok, so ive put the bindings (hopefully right) according to your template. But how do i get it to replace the english keymap in the wm6 windowsfolder ? It seems read only protected?

Try put it in over dir on your PPC and juts copy with replace or make *.cab and install it or copy from PC- i do it and all successfully .

Is the any way i can make the windows folder show it self to my pc ?
(Im on a vista-machine with newest device center)

Well, the rom, as it turned out, resat the original keymap after reboot, and TC somehow stopped wanting to work on it.
But as a final solution I disassembled the evo rom and substituted the keymap with the one I wanted, and built and reflashed. And it works well.
If anybody needs the 6.5 evo rom with norwegian layout ill upload and link.

You make a long way . You can make *.cab file with your *.kmap.txt and install it on your phone. It's worked well .

How did you customize your keymap?
After I flash up new rom, when I press and hold "Q" it appear % (not !), hold "N" => & (not @)...
I have tried to install et9 full, EnglishTegicEt9US... but can not solve it, I also tried to replace file Et9.Excalibur.0409.Keymap.txt in Window folder but there was nothing changed
I have this trouble with both of rom: 6.5 3VO 1.30 and 6.5 3VO 1.40
Could you help me to solve it?

You can go into your control panel in classic mode and choose folder options and choose to unhide everything so you can see the system files.. but unfortunately that won't work since your device controls the permissions for those windows files on your phone. when you try to edit them your computer will still tell you that you do not have the permissions needed

Copy the attached Norwegian keyboard file in the Windows folder of your s620 and soft reset. Make sure the file is set as read-only.
You should then have Norwegian keyboard!
Works for me....

As far as i know you can customize FN symbols this way:
- with a regedit program take note of the filname (eT9.*.kmap.txt) in this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\KeyboardLayouFiles\07FF
- copy this *.kmap.txt file from phone Windows folder to PC
- edit 4th and 5th row with the special charachters you need
- save as Unicode with another name (say eT9.Rhodium.0410custom.kmap.txt for a Rhodium phone)
- copy new file from PC to phone
- with a regedit program modify this key with the new file name:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\KeyboardLayouFiles\07FF
- soft reset
I've done it on a Rhodium but should be the same with other phones.
