Signed CAB's - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Hi Guys,
I'm trying to install a few of CAB's from the Orange Ext ROM on to my O2 Exec.
They all say they installed OK, but theres no sign of one of them, [a Signed CAB] even after a soft reset.
Do I need to do something else, to install Signed CAB's on other vendors ROM's ?

What do you mean with "theres no sign of them"?
No sign in the software removal section ? Thats normal because the cabs from extrom normally do not appear here.
If the desired effect from the cab is there yu got it working

Hi Ivan,
I've only got trouble with one of the CAB files, a signed one.
The file i'm trying to install is the 'Orange Today' plugin. It says it installs OK, but doesn't show up on the today screen or listed in its options.
The other CAB's which are not signed are Phone and MMS settings which install and work fine.
Is there something special I need to do to install an Orange signed CAB on an O2 Exec ?

Yes there is.
Unfortunately in the Orange rom are all files needed for the Orange style today screen.
In the cab file are only the reg settings to enable it.
Bad luck. Only chance to use it, is to extract the needed files and additional reg settings (there aren't all needed reg settings in the cab file) from the orange rom.
If you do this you will slowdown your device, because this thing is painfully slow.

OK, its seems i'm looking for the impossible again.
I'll give it a try the other way round.
Using the Orange ROM and adding the O2 settings and apps I need for work. Hopefully it won't be too slow when in work mode and the Orange plugin is turned off.
Thank you for your help Ivan.

Removing stupid o2 Active GUI from XDAII

HELP!
My xda2 decided to crash (1st time in a year mind!) and i am currently reinstating it to its pre-crash look etc.
I remember when I first got it, i went to explorer/windows and found the o2 active GUI files and binned them, but this time its casuing me hassle and the damed thing wont dissapear. I hard resetted again a few times, no luck with this so I tried add/remove progs. via activesync, but then I lost half my screen......any ideas, I HATE THIS o2 SCREEN!!!
If i remember correctly i removed the o2ActiveUIEngl.CAB file from the extended rom. Then after hard reset its not there to install. You will have to use the extended rom unlocking tool to access it.
I can not check because i have put WM2003SE on the XDAII now.
If you do not want to remove the cab look in your windows/startup dir for a file called connections (i think thats it) this is what displays the O2 graphic at the top.
Then if you click start>settings and then the today icon then the items tab you can remove the active ui link. Soft reboot and you should be about there.
This is all from memory so details may be slightly different but you should be able to get there.
My extended rom is blank at the mo, but I always just used to uninstall o2 active from the "remove programs" tab. It'd come back after a hard reset , but at least then you wouldn't have to manually enter your GPRS settings.
You can cancel the installation while the device is setting up, i have to do that as i've got an o2 branded xda but with an orange sim.
A friend has WM2003 but it ha too many issues for me to risk upgrading yet

XDA IIs o2 Active install problem!

since I did a hard reset I watched some of the automatic o2 Active software installs go ok...I rebooted but I don't get any o2 Active software. All the phone applcations etc are there but no o2 active today screen...where are the setup files located on the PDA so I can instally o2 Active today screen manually??
[email protected]
it is in the extended rom if you use the rom unlocker off this forum u can run the setup from there manually its the install cab file which is the active set up or if u like i can mail you the cab file

thanks
right - now i got to find the rom unlocker.
right got the cab file and all seems to work - got the 4 padlock icons.
right click unhide then unlock and do a soft rest ,then explore and you will see a folder extended rom open that and copy the install cab to another folder and then run it should be fine after that

Please help somebody

hi forum...
i own a Jasjar & very recently tried the o2 exec new rom on it.. i had it for a few days but didnt quite like it as much as the jj rom.
so i wanted to go back to the jj rom, but now neither is my ppc synchronizing with the laptop nor is it allowing me to revert if i put it in bootloader mode.
i tried synchronizing after deleting the partnership also.
it gives me a country id error when i put the ppc in bootloader mode & run the ROMupdate Utility. i have extracted the contents of the .exe file into a folder as i wanted to use the new radio 1.06 along with my original jj roms.
PLEASE HELP ME
mOrph
I am not sure, but:
if you managed to change from jj to o2, this means that you were using an installer that was not checking for the ID of the device, if not it would not have worked. (maybe you were not aware of this)
If now you are reinstalling the original JJ files from the shipped rom with the original installer, i imagine that this installer does not recognise the device and gives the country id error.
So what you would need to do is change the original JJ installer to the NoID installer that you used in the change from JJ to O2.
So you need to extract the installation file and in this resulting folder you will have to replace the JJ installer with the one from the O2 installation. Then it will not ask what kind of device is connected.
In case you knew all this and did it anyway, then I apologize (and probably have no other idea how to help you..lol)

Corrupt Charmer (PM200) upgrade help

Guys, my phone is dead and I need a little help please.
I have a T-Mobile MDA Compact II and have mistakenly (why it worked I don't know) 'updated' it with a Prophet firmware release. This progressed as I expected but was I since discovered completely wrong. My phone now shows a black screen with Dopod logo on boot and then hangs.
I have since found this site (looks good btw!) and subsequently the ftp area. I've downloaded the correct firmware for my phone, reset into the three colour screen and kicked off the Romupdater for the proper version I believe to be for my phone. With the 2 releases from ftp (one in that directory appears to be only half a zip file) they appear to be uploading but there is no change with the black screen problem.
I'm now stuck and am hunting for options. I'm more than happy to help myself but can someone explain what I need to do and start me on my way to fixing this.
All because it hangs from time to time when I run up too many apps on it.
Thanks in advance
Andy
Tell us what ROM you are using and which software you are using to perform your ROM update.
Anyway, it is weird that the Prophet ROM doesn't work on your phone. Keep this low tone, but I've done a Prophet ROM flash on my Charmer before. Everthing works well except the camera, that's why I flashed it back to the original ROM. I won't advise others to do so, there seems to be a few 'fatal' cases. I'm not sure, probably because it is compatible with the earlier Prophet version.
UPDATE: Nevermind, you seems to have the information. Good if you can stick to the same threat to avoid confusion. To others, please refer to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=275337&highlight=
At work and I've left the phone at home but I believe it was something like 2.3.15 (i.e. upgrade from v1 to v2)
Correction, it's SPL 2.15, IPL 1.12.
I have seen a post on Hermes bootloader access over USB using Mtty and now have access to the cmd> Can someone help me perform a bootloader based ROM downgrade to known working or deleting the image that is there?
Have now found the awizard utility, which file type does awizard need to be fed via the ROM directory?
Yes I'm a newbie at this and shouldn't have messed with the ROM update but I'm an I.T. guys by trade so if you can feed me the info I need I should be able to follow instructions
Phone is still 'dead' though.
It needs
XXX-OS.nba
XXX-Radio.nba
XXX-ExtROM (directory wit Ext Rom stuff)
You ought to get these from the FTP. I've myself uploaded a Charmer original UK ROM T-mobile, it should be still there is no one messed with it.
Hmm, I've missed something then. I put the .nba files into the ROM directory and then run awizard and hit w. Where I would expect to see a list of files with numbers there isn't any.
What I miss?
the dir structure of the aWizard looks like the attached, where you have the ROMs under the "ROM" dir and Ext ROM. Where the aWizard directory has the aWizard.cmd file.
Can someone provide a split up (i.e. seperated nbf files) for the Charmer or the correct memory addresses to punch into nb2nbf to create my own?
The images seem to have been removed from the FTP site and I'm in position to de-brick my phone!

Cab Operator settings

Hello :
What do i have to do to put this mms and internet configs atached working on wm6 ? They are from wm5,
Thnks
Copy on your device and than execute the cab file...

they didnt work..already have done...
Cab to PPC From Windows XP
You don't have to copy the cab to PPC to install the program. You can use this small utility to do the process just like you'll do with .exe files installer.
This utility is posted by Ryubai to PXDXA .
How to:
1. run the command xp_install.cmd inside the cab2PPCfromXP.zip archive to install the utility as a context menu command.
2. when you right-click the cab file, you will see "install to ppc" in contextmenu.click it and a dialog with which you are very simillar pops up......then you know what you should do next.
TQ.
cyphol is there any way to make CAB files like this for any operator?

Primoz

There's always a way but you have to know the registry keys involved but I think there're many already floating around in this forum so you can try search for them.
Eh...for the Slovenian operators there are no CAB files...thx anyway

Hi, i've just upgraded to WM6 (Black Edition v1.1) without any trouble but i can't connect to the internet via internet explorer, i get the message 'cannot connect'. I've download all cabs (extRom and windows) and ran them all. I've downloaded cab2PPCfromXP.zip and ran that on the PC as described, although nothing much happens.
I have noticed after running t-mobiles cabs that instead of '3G' i now get 'E' which seems a step back.
If i Hard reset my device, can some give step by step directions to me having a normal UK T-mobile phone. I mainly use my phone for emails so i really need this side to work.
Cheers

It's sometimes about wrong configuration of mobile ops settings you entered into the PDAs. So, make sure that everything typed in is correct.
