I just had by XDAIIs hard reset on me when I was changing storage cards :!: :!:
I took the opportunity to look at starting with corporate mode & think I might rebuild and use it in future, but Sprite backup saved my day.
Once I'd re'synced using active sync, I reinstalled Sprite onto the device and then restore from my last daily backup (taken at 5am this morning)
After 15 minutes or so, I had everything back as it was & saved myself a whole lot of pain recovering/reinstalling everything
Just thought I'd share my experience
If you chose to "make executable backup file" or something like that.....you don't even need to reinstall Sprite backup after a Hard reset!! Just execute the file and your device is restored!!
Oystein
sounds good in principle, but how do you do that with Sprite?
Within SB
Options>Switch to Advanced Mode>Backup Options>General Backup Options>Create self-rstoring Backup Files
Cheers - I've found that option on the phone & set it - thanks. I'll try a backup later today when I'm back home. Does this option work for backups initiated on the PC or do I need to initiate them from the phone?
Cheers
What Version of Sprite backup does this and have they fixed the issue with txt messages? With an older version after recovering with Sprite Backup V3 I think the phone would flash to say it had received a text message but no new messages where displayed on the phone?
I have an XDA lls with active sync 3.8
Rom 1.40.00 WWE
Rom date 03/10/05
Radio Version 1.12.00
Protocol Version 1337.42
ExtRom Version 1.40.923 WWE
Active sync has a backup is this not good enough.
also what is Corporate mode?
I have only just got the phone so I dont know much.
doesn't xBackup come with all of the OS builds by default? I have used it to restore my device a couple times just fine.. and best of all its free and works
Hi All
I Have Problem With Pim Backup
I Flashed My Rom Black Satin And When I Wanted To Restore My Contact Pim Backup Doesnt Recognized My Backup File And When I Open Pim Backup To Find The Restore File Nothing Appers Concerning The File Of Backup
Plz Can Anyone Help Me I Will Be Very Greatfull
Thanks A Lot In Advance
I had a different problem. After restoration I found only few SMS messages! Luckily, the contacts were all there.
p.s. Check your backup settings before execution; also check the size of the backup file to get an indication if it contains anything.
Good Luck.

Try to recover SMS only - that should put all of your SMS back - PIM Backup author said that in his thread.
Thanks KarhU,
I tried, alas; it did not work (197 records found in file... 0 message inserted in database...)

Otherwise, thanks for the great program.
This is indeed a bug, that has been fixed, but not yet released. Fortunately, there is a workaround for this problem with the actual version of pim backup.
The only thing to do during the restore of messages, is selecting only one account and do the restore.
So, for instance, if you want to restore your SMS, just select Text messages account and no other one and do the restore. If nothing is restored on the device it means that the account doesn't exist and should be created first.
I hope it helps...
Cheers,
Fred
This is the original message from dotfred, problem resembles that one of yours. Also the new version is available at his site. The message error should be fixed according to the changelog.

Are you using the same version of PimBackup...? I have had this problem only when using a different release... drove me nuts for about a week... I used v2.2 (I think) and then used v2.5 to restore and this is what I faced... used the earlier release and everything was fine.. Then used v2.5 to create a new backup and haven't had any probs since...
Thanks A Lot For Your Interest
Yes I Used The Sa%e Version Of Pim Nackup For Backup And Restore

Thanks for the link KarhU.
In spite of using 2.5 to backup, using 2.6 to restore fixed it. I hope it will work for SETOUF.

If you encrypted the card and THEN flashed a new ROM you can not decrypt the file (because encryption keys are stored in main memory and get overwritten/deleted by the flash - and you should not be able to decrypt any other data on the card rendering them effectively lost). If you encrypted the card after flash you can try to decrypt it in the settings. If you sync your device with outlook you can get your contacts back. Otherwise there is nothing else on my mind. Sorry.
Thanks A Lot
Anyway Do You Know How To Crack An Aes128 Encryption ?
Brute force attack. Fast computer and tons of time (weeks to years depending on the passwork/key lenght). Do you have older backup, or backup on the desktop PC, or did you synchronize it with desktop outlook - that can get at least a part of your data back.

Please read this.
I recently used SPB to do a "full backup" but it only took 5minutes and the resulting backup file was only 41.7MB...my internal memory has 160MB in use so was this a complete backup and does it usually be this quick? The compression level is set to normal.
I previously used Sprite backup but when I recently wanted to restore it and clicked on the self-restoring file it said "The file cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file"...?
I even tried opening it and my previous 2 backups via opening up sprite -> restore, however it did not find the backup files? Anyone else had this problem.
Lastly, is it best to backup my storage card at the time of the backup? Just that if I ever need to do a hard reset and then restore, won't my system need the files on my storage card to be as they were at the time of my backup? (I have many programs installed on there)
Thanks for your thoughts
Make sure in settings you have the backup choosing the correct files.
I don't backup my storage card simply because it'll save it back on the card.
I can't speak about Spb on the HD but I had problems with it on my Diamond so I switched to Sprite and have no issues.
HTH's,
Mark
The other day, I used NRT v1.5.3 to successfully make a Nandroid backup. Today I tried multiple times without success. In each case the phone would hang at the TWRP screen. NRT itself said the process completed. NRT did create a folder on the PC, but it was empty. Any ideas on what the problem might be? BTW, I did run the full driver test multiple times and it always passed.
Pete
Update: I seem to have solved the problem. I wracked my brain to think of what had changed between the successful Nandroid backup and the unsuccessful one. I finally recalled that I had uploaded about 8 GB of pics, videos, and music to the phone. I deleted all of those and was then able to do the Nandroid backup successfully. I conclude that NRT and/or Nandroid has a maximum size restriction. Can anyone comment?
Pete
I've got a good TWRP backup of my phone, on 5.1.1. Phone now has CM13 (running awesome), and am trying to restore SMS via Nandroid Manager, I get the following error:
The following error occurred package com.h3r3t1c.bkrestore does not belong to 1001 nothing was restored.
Thoughts? Any easier way to extract and restore text messages from a TWRP backup? Compatability issue between 5.1.1 -> 6.0 messaging?
I faced the same problem. Titanium Backup Pro worked.
Having the exact same issue...
How did you end up solving the problem???
I've got a good nandroid backup of my Oneplus one now updated from 5.1.1 to 6.0 CM13 (also running Awsommme {high tone of voice}) and I'm now thinking if it's possible somehow to extract my SMS/MMS from the nandroid backup or do I have to through the whole process of backing up, restoring the old nandroid, backing up SMS with a 3rd party application and then restoring back again to the latest nandroid backup...
Any suggestions any1?! Or should I just go along with the above described headache??
Seeing the same error here on my Galaxy S4 when trying to restore SMS messages through Nandroid Manager...
The batch restore gives me the same error, but if you go in the "export and explore" menu, "explore text messages", you can restore individual threads one at a time. this worked perfectly for me.
