The best price I've seen for the touchscreen is on ebay. But, there are a few catches...
First issue: There are two different LCD/touchscreen assemblies that were used on the angel. One is made by Sony, the other by Toppoly. The touchscreen or LCD from one can not be used on the other due to programming and physical layout.
Second issue (and this is probably the biggest): The way they touch screen and the LCD are connected is a major pain in the arse to fix. It's a plastic ribbon cable that has been soldered to a point on another ribbon cable. Unless you are very good at soldering, it's not something I'd attempt due to the largish chance of melting the cables and making things worse, not to mention the potential to hurt the LCD itself.
If you look in the wiki under the hacks and tweaks, the Technical Stuff (including disassembly) link has two pages to look at:

I replaced a touch sreen today, its not that bad if you have soldered before. Unfortunatly the screen i got of ebay is not perfect and will need replacing. I have contacted the seller to see if he will send me another one.
Its worth doing!

I've soldered plenty of times (a bit out of practice tho), but never something like that.
Any tips and suggestions? My main worry is melting the ribbon cables.
Well, no real tips, just take you time and don't rush it. The plastic can stand quite a bit of heat, i never managed to melt it, The job looks harder that it realy is. you will need a steady hand! Also , taping the connector down before you solder helps.

Ok, that's good to know. The plastic didn't look all that durable, but if it's stouter than it looks, I may check with the house controller (aka CFO aka my wife ) and see if we can spare the dosh to pick one up.
I have to be careful as she wants it once it's fixed!

There is a disassembly guide in the wiki.
What kind of screwdrivers are needed to remove those tiny screws on the LCD/ digitizer casing. I have 2 SX66's with broken LCDs and one with a broken digitizer. Time for some repairs.

i have the o2 xda IIs.. same problem, display works fine.. but tapping doesnt! after it was dropped!
Now, i got a guy to get a spare MDA T-mobile (blueangel) which doesnt work, but its lcd/touchscreen works.. i connected that LCD to my O2, it didnt WORK! how can i differentiate b/w the two LCDS?
i mean, how can i know that the LCD is made by Toppoly or Sony?! that'd be a great HELP!

Interesting. Looks like the LCD used varies depending on when the phone was made.
My O2 has the Sony LCD.

Cables and the wiki. The link I posted shows the difference between the two.
And yes, you will have to get the same LCD assembly/glass cover as what you have now. The two are not interchangeable.
There is a tool set you can purchase at radioshack that has the proper tip. Its a cheaply made tool but does the job. It is one of the kits with many bits. It would be the star tip. You can also order the tool online. I've taken mine apart a few times. Its sort of a pain but gets easier the more times you do it (replaced my screen three times). I have however, never been able to get the touch to work again because I can't really see how I would be able to solder such a fine ribbon. Ive had my mogul for almost a year and if my memory serves me the metallic strips are only about an 1/8th of an inch thick or less. I got lazy and put a piece of tape across the ribbon and put a small amount of glue to hold it down. Still didnt work. Didn't really expect it to either, but it was worth a shot. I turned it into insurance said I lost it and ended up with a broken 6600 and when I called to complain they sent me a mogul. So it's been awhile but I loved the phone. Hope this helps out.

i ve found some russian manual with pictures how to disasemble the BA (just look for it on the net) and its very easy, no need for soldering
there are 2 versions of displays, one have silver ribbon and the other have golden
when you opet your BA you ll see the display and the ribbon, also there is serial number of the display so you can check it too... all BA displays on the ebay have info about the ribbon and the serial number
I bought it for about 30$ and works perfectly, as original one...
buy digitizer and screen in one piece
you have to be total noob to have problems with changing of the display, so go for it !
If you are planning to replace the digitiser YES you do need to some fine soldering, all you need is the correct soldering iron tip for fine soldering and it is possible, done it about 4 times so far and everytime I promise myself not to brake it again but hahaha,
You can buy the LCD + digitiser together if you are unable to do soldering,
I use a razor which i took out from my shaver and thats what I use to seperate digitiser from lcd.
There are very cheap digitiser panels on EBAY, However some of these are not so good and ( digitiser is a 2 layer glass assy.) sometimes little area of this 2 layers stick together making touch screen non responsive.
Alternative is look out for spares, repairs sales if the screen is good buy it replace it, if you are a novice when it comes to these things, just take your time and dont rush it, even if it helps make little notes when you are opning the device as it ll make it easy when it comes to puting it back together.
And if you can get your hands on one keep a spare screen

I just cracked my screen I really hope I get a replacement cus I got more attached to my BA ever since I found out I could upgrade it. I thought it was not a biggie crashing it because I have dropped so many times and nothing happened but today something happened...

I bought a replacement housing and I noticed that when I use it, my phone is often searching for a signal. It's very sparatic too - it will be searching for a signal or have 1 bar and a minute later, it will have a full signal. But when I switch back to my old scratched up housing, the signal is steady.
Granted, I have broken one of the metal clips on the side of the housing but the same clip is broken on the original. I'm thinking that the face is used as an antenna or something. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue.
I also have another question/warning. Where can you buy quality housings for the Artemis? The one I bought is junk. Not only do I have the reception issue, but the HTC logo on the front has completely wiped off with a few days of use. Also, the keypad paint is very thin and cheap. In the dark, when the keypad is lit, you can see right through the cheap thin paint! It will only be a matter of about a week or so before thepaint starts chipping off. Also, the silver paint on the volume button has rubbed off in about a week of use. My old silver trim lasted almost a year. I'm really pissed about that. So I'm using my old scratched face plate & buttons with the new rear portion (since it the only worth while part in the kit. So beware of cheap ebay prices on these housings. Look for OEM.
Update: I've found that you can only get a quality OEM housing if you pay like $75.00 US. That's the going price I've seen on ebay and on sites like this: http://cnn.cn/shop/p3300dopod-p800-full-housing-p-1464.html
If it comes with the key pad, you can usually tell it's OEM because the letters are dark grey instead of white. The fake ones are white and they do not have the "e" for Internet Explorer - rather, they'll usually have some red symbol. That's the only way I know of to tell if they're fake. When you do a seach on ebay, include the word "Original" in your search and you should see some OEM ones.
i can confirm that - i also bought new housing from Ebay. It looks exactly the same ( only slightly different color on logos etc ).
very bad reception its not worth it(can not use GPS or wifi properly). And the paint is chipping off after week or so.
Also beware of the touch screens that are on Ebay - also cheap knockoffs. They work but are not near the quality of the original screen.

You may want to check the metal connectors on the center piece that connects to the circuit board. They ones connecting to the silver flat metal around the camera. Those are the antennas. I'm still using the original housing (with 2 ebay housings in the box) but I did have to readjust the antenna connectors to get wifi reception back. May or may not work for you.

Thanks a lot i managed to take the housing off my phone, it was pretty easy with the right instructions, i'm seriously considering on getting a new one or painting the old one.
75$ Thats pretty expensive, I bought my 2nd hand (but in mint condition) for 100 euro. Better get a new P3300, or as mentioned above paint the worn out case yourself, that would be even better

Just purchased a TP2 with a cracked digitizer. I also have the replacement. I've done a bit of research, and it looks like a ton of steps. I'm pretty confident I can do it, so all I'm really looking for is some tips. Any surprises I might see that may not have been covered in this guide? This is what I have so far:

The LCD is fine. It's the top layer of plastic that is cracked. I haven't received the phone yet, but I inspected it, and that's what I concluded. The person who sold it to me is including a replacement part, but I know I'm looking at a lengthy process to dismantle the device.
Do you have to take apart the entire phone just to change the digitizer? I thought you could just hook something underneath the corner and pry it out.
It seems like such a drag if you have to take the whole phone apart to change an exterior item.
Man you're in for a world of hurt and frustration... Easier to just purchase and replace the LCD and digitizer together...

Totally agree here. From what I have read you dont want to mess around with trying to pry the current digitizer off and then reapply a new one on. It's a HUGE pain in the ass. Just purchase a replacement LCD screen/digitizer combo and i's apparently super easy to swap out.
I've taken apart tons of phones, I'm currently waiting on a digitizer to replace for my TP2. If you search this forum you will find instructions how to do it.
While waiting I've been reviewing the instructions.
As always the hardest part is putting it back together.
The only thing I can recommend to you is to don't worry about replacing it. Take pictures with a digital camera as you go so you can know how to put it back together.
Hopefully I will get mine by this weekend. It is for a T-Mobile TP2 and the only shop to have one available was in Hong Kong.

It can be done but it requires ALOT of patience. Take it slowly and try not to leaver against the LCD in anyway. If you do break the screen when replacing it a replacement isn't expensive.
I replaced the digitizer twice. Taking the phone apart and assembling it back is difficult only when you do it for the first time. Once you know what's going on it just takes some time and precision. The REALLY tough part when replacing JUST the digitizer is putting the lcd and digitizer together without any dust or fingerprints in between. I ended up with dusting and vacuuming the room, putting some super-clean brand new plastic bags around the workplace and putting the cold shower on. Then using super-clean glass polishing microfibre cloth and anti-static glass cleaning liquid under really good lamp I managed to get both parts 100% clean and put them back together. Don't forget latex gloves (the ones that leave no marks) - fingerprints are hundred times worse than dust to get rid of. I have no idea how long did it really take but when I finished my back hurt like hell and water was dripping from the ceiling
Separating lcd and digitizer is not too hard. It was easiest when it was still attached to the bezel. I just pried it out applying easy, firm pressure and taking my time. Try not to damage the sticky layer on the edges or get it excessively dirty - it'll make your life easier later.

EDIT: Make sure that lcd is positioned 100% correctly (there is 1 or 2mm space to move it around). It is a very unpleasant surprise to put the phone back together just to find out that some top or bottom pixel lines are permanently invisible (The Voice of True Experience speaks here:/). And generally - keep the place around you tidy - maybe some containers for screws, parts, tools and that sort of stuff. I am not naturally anal enough to start from this point but found out in the process that this sort of job gets extremely frustrating and exhausting when you get confused, start losing parts etc.
It is major hurt! The TP2 is really not user serviceable! Anyway after reading all instructions I still screwed it up. I should have sent it in to HTC. I would not recommend changing the digitizer on your own.
Everything went well until it came to removing the LCD & replacing the digitizer. I cut the speaker cable, and the LCD just came apart. Luckily I have another LCD, looking for a speaker cable now.

Thanks to these instructions I was able to replace the broken digitizer (glass) on my TP2. Unfortunately the Russian instructions stop short of replacing the glass.
Tools required: T5 torx mini screwdriver, letter opener, mini philips, a mini straight screwdriver and I found a very mini (1mm ) straight screwdriver handy for getthing the keyboard and screen back loose. The letter openner and two straight screwdrivers are only for prying
Here is what I did from the last spot on the Russian instructions: (yes you have to do every step)
Note: Be very careful removing the ribbon taped to the back of the LCD. You have to pry the speaker out ot the case up at the top; don't attempt to remove it by pulling on the ribbon. Once the speaker is loose (it's attached to the riboon, you are ok to remove it.
1. Take a small straight screwdriver and pry all around the LCD (metal back with handwriting on it in the last photo.) There are plastic tabs all around it centering it. You can pry gently against them. The LCD is only adhered with a small gasket around the edge of the glass. It is not glued to the screen as was posted by someone else. It comes out fairly easily.
2. Remove the black tape holding down the ribbon connected to the digitizer. I wasn't able to save the tape but not a big deal. Below the tape is one of three screws holding the buttons on. Remove those three screws.
3. Now you should be able to remove the digitizer. Go slow starting at the bottom. It is glued all around at heavily glued at the top. I had the pry the top away with small flat screwdriver and a letter opener. Go slowly and eventually it will release. At the top of the glass is the speaker for your ear. It will likely come off with the glass. Remove it and return it to the now empty case centering it in top.
4. Using gloves to prevent prints remove the protective film form your new digitizer. There is a lot of static generated when you do this so keep it away from everything for a minute while it neutralizes. Then place the digitizer in from the top, feed the ribbon through the slot and press the plastic all the way around.
5. Replace the buttons and the screws that retain them.
6. Replace the LCD; you can't screw it up the plastic tabs center the LCD. Just make sure the ribbon is at the bottom.
7. Reverse the instructions in the Russian link at the beginning of the post.
All told it took one hour the first time. I got it all together and then screen didn't light it. I had trouble reconnecting the screen ribbon during assembly so I figured the problem was there. I took the phone apart (to the end of the Russian instructions) and reinserted the screen ribbon into the connecter and then reassembled the phone. It took 10 min to disassemble and reassemble the phone the second time although I didn't have to take apart the screen.
So that's it. It cost me $22.00 for a new digitizer and $10.00 shipping, which is a lot better than a new phone if you don't have insurance and the phone looks like new. If you look very hard you can make out one tiny speck of dust under the glass but it's barely visible; much better than looking at the large V shaped crack I had before.

I ordered (and received) a screen AND a digitizer. But there's a thin scotch tape that make the screen+digitizer (in one piece) get stick to the phone. OK, I teared it off.
But, how can I replace this scotch tape??? Much less of 1 mm thick, it seems to be made of foam...

I was sent a Digitizer from Ebay (without LCD). Just for everyone elses benefit, there is no way you can remove the digitizer from the LCD Screen. It's glued down. Maybe it wasn't the case with the older ones, but mine can not be separated, no way!
Taking the phone apart is not too hard, the video instructions are pretty good, but seriously, forget trying to replace the digitizer only.

If it has the same construction as the HD2, you can put the LCD + digitizer in the oven for 5 minutes at 50 degrees celcius. This was shown in instructions by HTC. Then you can seperate them.
Maybe, but my LCD was glued across the whole screen not just the edges. I'd suggest only buying the Digitizer/LCD combo if you want to do this yourself. If you buy both (as a single piece) the job would be pretty easy.

I have just broken my Dinc2's glass screen. The underlying LCD screen is still functional and the touch screen works. So, I am guessing that I only broke the glass on the top of the screen... I uploaded pics to make it clear.
The casing near the USB port got bent some time back when I went kayaking... And I think that is where the screen cracked significantly when I dropped the phone.
I can still use the touchscreen and there are no discoloration on the LCD. So, can you guys suggest to me what Screen replacement product I need to buy online and (preferably) give me a link for said product and a How to repair guide. Plus, is this process easy? As in if I spend a few hours carefully following the steps to repair, will I succeed?? Moreover, can I replace the metal casing as well?

So I have dust under my screen even though my phone is completely original and never been dropped. Do you think it's worth taking apart, cleaning out, and replacing the adhesive? How long do you think it would take, and what is the likelihood of doing more damage to the phone?

I actually just finished doing this a few hours ago. It does take some time to do it but if you have patience you can do it
You have to remove the LCD to remove the digitizer, so you will have all the parts out of the body of the phone. It is easier if you replace the body because it comes with new adhesive already perfectly cut and installed. If you reuse the old one you will have to scrape all the old adhesive off, then cut new adhesive. They are also available in red/silver/black so you can change colors.

You have to remove the LCD to remove the digitizer, so you will have all the parts out of the body of the phone. It is easier if you replace the body because it comes with new adhesive already perfectly cut and installed. That is what I was referring to as the body, since all the parts attach to it. I actually got an entire new housing, came with the bezel, the middle part, and a new battery cover since my battery cover was beat up and I was changing colors. The middle part I didn't need but it was cheaper to buy all 3 parts than just 2.
I got it on ebay. The Incredible 2 and the Incredible S housing parts are interchangeable. I ended up getting S parts because they were cheaper. Most of the ebay sellers are in China so shipping takes 1-2 weeks depending on the seller. Repairsuniverse is good if you want it fast, I ordered from them once and got the part in 2 days.

I wanted to know if there is a detailed how to. Anyway, managed to take it apart. All guides end at taking it apart and say, "well, now you know how to dissemble it, just go in reverse and assemble it. Well. I wish they don't do that and show me through the reverse just to avoid mistakes. I remember having to redo IKEA furniture due to missing a few parts. Don't wanna do this messy procedure and realize I forgot a button or worst still putting the screen on!
Anyway, I am a grad student with a bachelors in Engineering... I should be ashamed if I can't do this! :silly:
repairsuniverse has a guide on youtube for replacing the digitizer. I found it easy to follow. Only difference is when you put it back together put the parts in the new body. You will also have to pull the speaker out of the old body and put it in the new. It is held in by glue, heat it with a hairdryer/heatgun and it comes out pretty easily. You might need to use some new adhesive on the speaker, I was able to pull the old adhesive out of the body in one piece using a hairdryer and some tweezers.

I am 100% done with the repair. But there are a few issues. The Vibrator motor seems to be not working. Then, the Digitizer I bought doesn't have a hole for the front facing camera! That is not a major setback as I rarely use it and I have a tablet and a PC to skype chat with... But it is sad that a feature is missing.
The big issue is the vibrator not working. I didn't mangle it and put it back in place as I am supposed to. Finally, I have 1 or 2 small dust particles under the screen and that is ok. I couldn't remove all the dust and it is a miracle I managed to get it that clean. Finally I seem to have a slight green tint/screen bleed at top left corner. I didn't have that before and I didn't distort the LCD while replacing. Is it due to a smudge on the LCD there? I suppose it is a minor issue and not something that will amplify as I have a Transformer prime that has screen bleeds and it is apparently because the screws are too tight.. So may be I tightened something too much? Anyway, if it doesn't deteriorate I am ok, as it is a very, very minor problem.
So, bottom line: Main problems > (1) No FFC (due to improper digitizer) -> I don't intend to fix it. (2) Vibrator motor not working.
Can someone help me with 2?

That is odd it didn't have a spot for the front camera. I replaced my digitizer and it has a clear spot for it but it is not even close to centered. It actually looks like it would obstruct the camera but it doesn't. If you take it apart again for some reason you can scrape the black off the back so it is clear. However, it is very hard to do that and make it look decent.
Getting it perfect with no dust between the lcd and digitizer is very very hard to do. The first phone I did I actually took it apart again because there not only was dust but smudges on the other side of the digitizer. As for the bleeding I wouldn't think you could cause it from pressure in the inc2 because the lcd and digitizer are just held on the front by adhesive. The LCD has adhesive around the entire edge of it, I don't know if that also blocks light from the edges but if it does and there is a little bit missing maybe it is the cause.

Is the two tone color combination looking sweet, or should I change the back to red as well? I have a spare black back cover. If anyone has a spare red back cover, I can trade!

Is the smudge bad? I think it is just a smudge on the LCD and not a damage to the LCD right? In that case, I am cool, as I most likely will cause other smudges if I attempt to redo it anyway. Plus, I am kinda bummed out about the lack of FFC, but I hardly use it and the whole process of removing the screen is SOOO tedious (and I don't have a heat gun, so had to put my phone a feet above a gas burner! ) and it was so painful and stomach wrenching to safely remove the LCD/digitizer that I don't wish to do it again to repair the FFC...

I think the two tone looks good since the red phones have all black accents. I thought it was weird that the speaker on the red phone is silver, while all the other accents are black.
There seems to be a problem with the adhesive. The digitizer is raised by about 1 millimeter at the top while it is attached better at the bottom. I think it is because I had an additional horizontal strip of adhesive at the bottom to attach the digitizer to both the LCD and the buttons firmly while I didn't put such a horizontal strip at the top as I didn't see one when I dissembled it. If I put pressure on the digitizer for a while, it sets back in place for about half a day. Is this a serious problem? I don't feel like dissembling again.

I just broke my screen and im looking to go the same route. This is a good phone to have as a back up after i get my upgrade and i dont want to get rid of it.
Anyway, did you need all those parts to successfully change your screen? I thought if you bought a new housing you would not need the adhesive tape?

Yeah i bought red one. but you can't do it without a new LCD screen maybe. . My current one is black... changed the battery part once. but still don't know how to change the housing... i hope someone can teach us..

Well, let me try... If you changed the battery, you already know how to replace the backplate, so it shouldn't be a problem. If you want to replace the midframe/housing, that's quite a bit more work, but still doable, if you are comfortable working with heat gun or hair dryer. I would strongly recommend watching some YouTube videos on the subject (phone model doesn't matter; you just need to understand how to work with a heat gun and a suction cup). Also, finding a good disassembly guide for ZL would be useful, to make sure you follow the teardown steps properly.
Note that I personally haven't done a full ZL disassembly, but I know how it's put together, and I have done similar repairs on multiple other phones, including Xperia Z, Z1, LG G2, Galaxy S2 and others. Basically, you need to remove the backplate, then disconnect everything and remove all components accessible from the back, making sure not to damage ribbon cables in the process (some of them are very delicate). This is where a good disassembly guide comes in very handy. After that, you are left with the most difficult task: removing the display/digitizer assembly without damaging it. You need to carefully (that's the keyword here!) heat it up around the perimeter to loosen up the adhesive, and carefully pull it from the housing with a suction cup, working your way around the edge with a plastic spudger, or a guitar pick, or a similar tool. At this stage, you can quite easily break the glass, or split the LCD/digitizer "sandwich", so, again, be careful!
If you have no experience whatsoever doing this, your screen's chances of survival are quite slim. I am pretty handy with electronics and with stuff in general, and literally spent years with soldering iron in my hands. Still, my first two attempts were fudged up (the screen was already damaged in both cases, so no harm done, but lessons learned). First time, I fried the display with a heat gun. Second time, cracked the glass trying to separate it from the housing. That was enough for me to learn the tricks. So, be prepared to replace the screen, if you break it. But hey, you may very well get lucky, and do it right the first time around...
Assuming you are through the disassembly process, you will then need to put the phone back together in your new housing, using two adhesive gaskets: one for the display, and another for the backplate. I would recommend buying the proper pre-cut adhesive for your phone (check out Amazon or eBay), but you can also use a narrow high-quality double-sided tape (3M or similar), manually cut in place.
