WMDC "Error 608" when syncing in USB-serial mode / .NET CF 3.5 install impossible

WMDC "Error 608" when syncing in USB-serial mode / .NET CF 3.5 install impossible
I'm making tests with the Mary 3.6SL ROM (WM6) and encountering 2 small problems.
As I don't know if those are related to the ROM itself (and as someone has perhaps already found a solution for the same problem for another ROM), I'm posting my question outside the Mary ROM's related thread.
1) With the switch "Enable advanced network functionnaly" (USB to PC connection option) checked (ie, using RNDIS syncing), the sync with my computer under Vista using WMDC 6.1 works well. I've however noticed that the link sometimes goes down (the device appears unconnected whereas it's still in its craddle), but this is a really "minor" problem.
But with the switch unchecked (I have to uncheck it on another PDA in order to sync successfully), ie, using USB serial mode connection, I'm getting a "Communication error: Cannot communicate with the PC because of the following Remote Networking error (Error 608)".
I've of course made a search on the net as this issue seems to be quite common, but none of the advices given (such as recreating the partnership) are working.
2) I wanted to update my .NET CF 2.0 to version 3.5, with no success.
The install of .NET CF 3.5 simply ends telling it has failed to install.
.NET CF 2.0 was installed with no problem.
I've tried to uninstall .NET CF 2.0 before installing CF 3.5; same result.
Can someone help me solving those two problems ?
Thanks in advance.
Think mary 3.6sl have already .net cf 3.5...
What version of activesync do you have? use version 4.5..i used for several time mary 3.6sl and do not have any problems syncronizing the p3600 however i have windows xp...
SL means SuperLite, that's to say, a clean empty OS...
I don't think there's a .NET CF basically integrated in that ROM.
Is there a way to know that ?
For .NET CF 2, the setup created a "\NET CF 2.0" directory under \Windows as well as an uninstall option, but if there's a NET CF 3.5 already installed, I haven't seen anything...
I don't use ActiveSync ! Under Vista, ActiveSync doesn't work. It has been replaced by WMDC (Windows Mobile Device Center). I'm using its very last version 6.1.
Have you tried BOTH ways of synchronizing (Enhanced mode (ie, RNDIS), but ALSO USB-serial mode) ?
RNDIS synchro works well, but not USB-serial...
Hello,
Did you solve your issue? If so, can you explain how? I am facing the same problem...
Thanks in advance,
David.

Running DiamondCustomRUU.exe Error

Hi guys,
Recently I have found that when I try and flash my HTC Touch Diamond with a new ROM I click the DiamondCustomRUU.exe and instead of seeing the GUI interface for flashing your phone I get the following error:
'The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Clcik on OK to terminate the application.'
this is stopping me from flashing my phone.
Any ideas on what this is?
OS: Windows XP SP3
Cheers,
Ant
Try (re)installing ActiveSync 4.5 (latest),
(re)install MS VisualBasic++ 2005 and 2008 runtimes.
Or just use the Dependancy Walker and check any libraries the RUU might be linked to, and check which are the ones you're missing.
Check the link in my sig. All these dll's/tools are available in the tools pack.
Cheers,
Yup I've worked it out.
I need to re-installed .Net Frameworks as it was corrupt.
Ant
**this can now be deleted**

Go to "advanced edit" and add [SOLVED] to the thread title.
Glad you worked your problem out.

How install .NET 3.5 on the HD?

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but a forum search revealed nothing...
How do I install .NET 3.5 on my Touch HD?
I have installed Advanced Congif , and it tells me i need to install .NET in order for it to work.
I downloaded the .net redistributable file from the MS website (filename is NETCFSetupv35.msi), but when I try to run it on my HD as I would with a .cab file, it tells me there's no associated program to run it.
I guess it has to be installed some other way (through ActiveSync maybe?), but I don't know.
Any helpful soul out there care to put me out of my misery?
Cheers in advance
Pete
Yes it has to be done through Activesync.
run it on your pc, and it will install on your device (or next time you connect if you're not connected when you run it)
It says on the microsoft download page...:
This package uses ActiveSync 4.0 to update the device. Before running NETCFSetupv35.msi, connect your device to your PC. If your device is not connected, ActiveSync will store the CAB file and will not install the package until you connect. If you are not using ActiveSync, run the CAB files on the device that correspond to the device–specific CAB files found in the install folder.

I did not use ActiveSync to install it. I can't remember where I found it, but it has some kind of "Microsofts digital signature", so I think it's the right one...

Thanks!
Thanks guys,
sorted, using the .cab (couldn't work out how to do it with Activesync).
Can't install :-(
Nooo! I have a problem...
I had some trouble with .NET CF 3.5, and then I wanted to reinstall it, but when I uninstalled it, and then tried to install it again, it didn't work.
It doesn't work through ActiveSync AND the cab. Do anyone know whats wrong here, or do I need to start a new thread?
Is your ActiveSyns up to date? And did you download the file from the mircosoftsite? I reïnstalled the file yesterday..

My ActiveSync is okay, and the cab is from the microsoft site...
EDIT:I think something is wrong with my phone, but I don't want to do a Hard reset.
Installed no problem if you use your PC to get the CAB just pop in onto the memory card, bung it in your phone and using file explorer locate file and install onto your device. Easeeee
Even easier would be to use PIE and visit this site/thread and follow the link to download directly onto phone then do above in File Explorer

ActiveSync 4.5 Error in Windows CE setup files

Hello all,
For some reason, activesync 4.5 is refusing to install applications: when I run an application installer on my PC, it comes up with :
"Error in Windows CE setup files: Application manager cannot install this application on your mobile device due to an error in the set-up file. reinstall and try again".
If I copy a cab file on the Htc touch HD and run it from there, everything works fine.
It seems that something has been corrupted in Activesync software.
So I tried to reinstall several times without the firewall and antivirus, after deleting all the temps files (%temp%) and deleting partnership documents files, also after deleting system32/RAPI.dll but the "Error in Windows CE setup files" still appears.
Does anybody knows about this specific problem? And how to fix it ?
Looking in forums for a week I didn't find that kind off troubble solved.
I have Activesync 4.5 on windows XP pack3 (before, activesync 4.2 worked very well with an XDA II- Qtek2020)
Thank you very much !
