If anyone could help with this problem it will be greatly appreciated. I have took a camera and flash from the ppc 6600(SPRINTS VERSION) and put it on my SX 66. The flash is not working and I would like to get it to work. Any suggestions?
if you look closely at the camera and flash module you should have seen that the flash has two seperate contact pads that make contact with small springs on the harrier board.. the blue angel board unfortunately does not have those contacts so no flash for it...
That sucks but I did notice that on the boards. Thanks
yeah.. I was disappointed when I discovered that as well.. instead of cutting up the harrier rear panel I just put the camera module in the blank that comes in the sx-66 and drilled a small hole in the 66 back. very simple
That's so awesome! I just did the same thing this weekend and took pics for a writeup. I thought i was alone in the endeavor.

I want to take my XDA IIs apart to see if it's possible to;
1) tighten up the keyboard slider mechanism.
2) make the 'stops' that hold the screen in the open position a little stronger. ie screen will not no easilly drop onto my thumbs while typing in bed.
Before I start I thought I'd open the idea up to the forum....Any advice please ?
There seem to be two sets of screws to play with, two T6? on the sides and two smaller screws on the back of the screen ( when opened ) which seem smaller. There are also three screws in the battery bay which I think are not related.
I'll take a few photos while I'm inside and post.
Jeff
That would be really useful as i am thinking of doing the same, mine is starting to loosen (tho o2 are being very nice to me at the moment and offering me a new one!)
dismantled my XDA IIs
ok the phone has been dismantled. You can see a few pics at the following URL.
http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/1081010
They will load full size if you click on them a few times.
I will update the pics later with some text. Some initial observations.
1) The slider 'rail' system is spot/heat welded to the phone body - pict 2291 - does leave alot of room for adjustment.
2) The mic is actually quite large - if the mic hole in the casing was larger I think the people-ask-me-to-speak-louder problem would be improved.
3) The clip that holds the phone in the open/closed position is rubbish - pict 2295 - I would say that if this clip was stiffer the slider mechanism would function much better.
sorry. point 1 should read...

Hi, if it's not too much trouble, could you enlarge the part where the volume slider is? Mine don't seems to have any latch where the silver button can catch onto (i.e when i fixed back the casing, the button is very loose and unable to adjust the volume no matter how much i slide it up or down). TIA!
Hi - if you click on the thumbnail you get a slightly larger version, if you then click on this you get a new browser windows which gives you the full 4 Megapixel size of 2304 x 1704 pixels which gives alot of detail. These are all the ( in focus ) pictures that I have. The phone has now been put back together.
When I click on a thumbnail I get a medium-sized image, but clicking on that does nothing. Is there another way for us to get the fullsize images?
Thanks!
Replace the screen
Now the IIs is open, have you considered replacing the screen with an ordinary II? Do the connectors look the same?
Ive been reading, and can now observe for myself that the IIs screen is more 'yellow' than the II.
Thoughts?
sorry about the delay. Download the full size pics here

They're 4.5Mb !
No plans to swap the screen. Quite happy with mine.
Kudos for your bravery! Please post your solution to tightening the slider. You will undoubtedly ascend to PPC demi-god status if you find a way.Excellent work! Keep us updated please.
Cheers!
the pics in the zipped are corrupted..... its not even 4.5mb... something is wrong with the file pls upload the files again thank you so much... after looking at the bigger pics then i will be able to see if the LCD can be replace....
wertert,
Yes, zip file is only 1.5 KB... please repost.
When you took the device apart, did you notice where the WiFi antenna was and if it could possibly be relocated? A lot of people are complaining about the WiFi reception in the Blue Angel and, chances are, it's due to the antenna design/placement/location.
Thanks!
sorry about that.....I've tried uploading again but I seem to get a problem. Even uploading the raw jpg files is failing. I think my web site allocation is full up ! Does anyone have an FTP site I could put these picture on ?
pics
ps - I can also email them over. Can you get an address to me ?
sorry about the delay. Uploaded to another site. You should be able to get them from;

thanks for opening up the PDA2K for us...
1) So how did you finally fixed the loose keyboard????
2) Also, can it be that people that got their keyboard too loosed
used a PDA2K case such as the PEIL FRAMA one?
That case has a large and rather thick plastic that covers the
keyboad and goes between the keyboard and the body, it seems like it may case the keyboard to be loosed after sometime.
Thanks

Did you make any modifications to the phone to improve the ability of the mic to pick up your voice?
Krusell case loosened keyb in 1.5 months
Yes sorci's right! The gap increased since I got my i-mate into such a case with a thick plastic cover over the keys. Everyday i notice it incresing. Loox like paranoia Well, what to do with the problem? Living in Russia I got no hopes for friendly product support. Have to solve it by means of a screwdriver and a hammer. Wish me luck, colleagues.

My 2K internal pictures
I fixed my slider problem i have posted some pictures in 5 megapixel quality for clarity.unclip white plastic clips from bottom of slider plate and then Bend sides of slider plate out slightly, refit slider plate and plastic stop clips and you get smooth steady reistance all the way with no more gaps....ENJOY
Does anyone have DIY instructions or a link to instructions for taking apart an xdaII? I searched the forum and found a couple of threads, but they only provided pictures and not step by steps. Any help would be much appreciated.
edit: I actually need the DIY for xdaIII (with sliding kb) sorry for the mistake

Hehehehe just managed to dig that up on the FTP.
I'm sorry, I don't know where to get the instructions for disassembly for the "XDA III".
Maybe it hasn't leaked out yet. I guess let's start waiting.
Goodluck to you.
Hey guyz,
I'ver personally taken my PDA2k apart to tighten the keyboard.
It was..er...scary but i followed the following sites:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=13730&highlight=pda2k+keyboard+slider
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=14988
The drawback is, you might have a hard time getting the void sticker out..mine was half torn
These are the guidelines for me...but do it at your own risk...
hte hard part is to watch out for the volume slider when you fix the rear casing back...the small little plastic slider is very fragile and could break with minimal force..
Good luck..cheers!

Oh btw, this is the service manual for the XDA II and not for the IIs
I've taken my Harrier's ( Same as XDAiii) apart and it's not too bad. You have to remove the two bottom screws, the one under the void sticker(still trying to find a place to buy replacement stickers) and the two screws on the sides. Make sure you take your sd card or filler card out the sd slot then all you have to do is open from the bottom nice and slow. If you want to remove the mainboard you will need to take the small screws out of the top and right side of the mainboard (looking directly at the board) make sure you take the backup battery loose. You can either unplug the battery from the mainboard(which will result in a hard reset) or take pull the battery up from the case(it's held on with double stick tape). Then remove the microphone along witht eh rubber boot it's in from the case. Also loosen the flex wire from the front case to the mainboard. Take loose the motor from case and as you pull the mainboard from the case look on the other side of the board and take loose the two flex wire connectors from the mainboard. Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Having any sort of basic instructions helps.
Can I ask why you took yours appart? :?:
I have a few of the cdma version of the Blueangle/XDAiii and I wanted to see if the verizon version that I have is the same as the Sprint and Audiovox versions. So I took three of them apart and compared everything ic by ic. Plus it gave me a chance to see how everything was put together inside. I take just about everything I have apart, two hours after I recieved my Ipaq 5555 I had it in pieces on my work bench.

Can you please detail on how you unlock the hooks on the sd card?plsss I cant open mine because of those hooks....pls reply asap
Hello,
I dropped my Touch Pro 2 in fresh water. No insurance of course and no more discount from T-mobile to buy a new phone.
Following video instructions on youtube I disassembled it, I believe without breaking anything.
The LCD screen was gone (water inside), and I bought a new one in eBay.
Once I received it I reassambled the phone. Evertyhting seems to work fine but... the screen is stuck in landscape!
Of course I did soft and hard reset, tried to play / disable the G-sensor and orientation sensor, nothing: I believe it has to do with some switch that recognize when the keyboard is slide open, but I have no idea what sensor is it, I can't find any mechanism that resemble a micro switch or a mini magnet related to the opening / closing of the keyboard. Instead I find a microswitch that senses when the pen is inside, but nothing about the screen.
Any suggestion, does anybody here have any hardware knowledge on this topic? I tried to use software like Gyrator 2 which put a patch on the problem, but I would rather fix the hardware first: perhaps I did not mount something correctly, where is this sensor, is it magnetic or microswitch, I can't see anything even with lenses on.
thank you all in advance
....
I have exactly same problem, my TP2 is stuck in landscape mode. I bought TP2 in the US. My housing was broken so I bought a new one in europe the oem one with lcd screen and digitizer... Could this make the problem?
I am pretty sad, I dont want to buy a new phone :S
The sensor must be in the screen-half of the phone underneath where the red "end call" button is. This is demonstrated if a healthy phone is slid open, and then you pass a small magnet underneath the screen in that area, screen will flip between portrait and landscape.
Which yes I did the same thing today and it was your post randell that helped me. All you need to do is go to walmart purchase the smallest but most powerful smallest magnet you can find. cut you a piece of it, superglue it to the bottom right corner. worked like a charm.
or if you wanted to open your case back up like i did you can superglue it on the inside lol. If you look at your old case you will find your old magnet you can use. simple easy just thought id let you know k bye ta ta.

thank youuuuuuuuu
I was on here by chance and I had the same issue when I replaced my digitizer on my TP2 a year ago. I could never figure it out so I bit bullet and brought a new phone. I will try this when I get home and if it works be great because i loved that phone soo much when I had it thanks guys!!
Hi everybody, My HTC M8 fall from 40m height, my screen was broken and camera not workin. As I am russian and my family lives there, I gave them my HTC so that they can take it to service center and get it fixed. They managed to fix the screen but not cameras, as they didnt know where to order them. So while being in Spain I ordered both cameras and then brought them to Russia and gave to service centre with the phone. So, here comes the problem, they disassembled my HTC took the metal casing where both cameras were and connected the new big one but connected without metal casing-hanging. So the problem is that it doesnt have AutoFocus now. More problems come now, when you connect small camera you cannot enter camera app and make photos( with only big one you can). So we took it to another center where they said that there is whatever problem with some plate or something and they cannot fix it. So its now laying on the bookshelf disassambled.
So my questions are :
1. Can I use it with only one big camera?
2. Does second camera affect autofocus?
3. If not, can it be fixed by mounting it to the original metal casing( which should hold it in a fixed position alowing micro movements for focusing, am I wrong?)?
4. Could it be some plate which connects small camera that doesnt allow second camera to function properly and what could it be?
Please Help me ASAP if you know anything about situation like that.
Dear XDA's..
I just bought my nexus today and I wanted to tear it down a bit, apparently it was the biggest mistake I ever done. One metal got displaced (removed) from the motherboard (image is in attachment) .. So i thought it was the image stabilizer since its near it, but its working fine..
The problem started when I wanted to decrease the music sound, volume down is not working. I tried to flash the newest google image, but still with no luck
Your help is appreciated..

Your gonna have to resolder or attach it to the board or send it for repair. Almost guaranteed no warranty.
Flashing software items like images will not fix a hardware problem.
If you want to leave it as is there are sound volume sliders in settings or apps on the play store.
Did you ever get the issue fixed? My wife opened up here phone and now has the same problem. It looks like the same exact component that got displaced as in the picture.
Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks.
Same thing just happened to me. Had to tear down to replace earpiece. Knocked off the piece. I super glued it back on. But the piece is certainly not the same condition. I kinda had to bend it back into alignment as I rocked it pretty hard when prying the inner back casing off.
Do they sell these new? What is it called? And must I solder?
