Phone stops trying to log on the network... - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Thanks to all who post on the site - lots of useful info to get the exec to operate as it should instead of the "out of the box" piece of junk that I bought.....
One question - is there any way I can stop the phone from going to sleep?
I work in a steel building, that has no reception. at the end of the day, I leave the building, and re-enter mobile phone reception, but the exec stays silent, and won't accept or make calls or texts until I turn flight mode on and off - or turn the phone off and on again.....
Any ideas - it's a bit annoying. - especially when you forget to reconnect...
Ta,
Mike.

[Q] Not Getting Any Text's

Can any one help me
i am not getting any text's untill i send one and then they all come in like a flood
it is starting to get a pain cos i am missing some important texts's
how often do you power cycle your phone? aka do you leave it on all of the time?
if that is the case then do a power cycle...even take the battery out for a minute or so and see if that does the trick...for some reasons some phones act weird if they're left on all of the time..
I think it's the problem from update 1.72.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
i keep it on all the time
when i do restart the phone the meassages come's in to my phone !
I found this a lot in Manchester City Centre, phoned Orange about it and they said a number of masts in my area were experiencing issues.
I could usually tell if I was having problems by dialing a number (150 mostly) and if it'd connect then txt's would come through, if not then it was most likely an issue with Orange and none were coming through.
Don't believe it was ever an issue with the phone itself.
Do you notice that this happens in certain locations or everywhere?
Do you use a Cumstom Rom and Radio?...if so try using to reset your connection setting or even to flash another radio.

[Q] Cellular radio "freezing" after 1.28 update

I have owned this phone only for three days now, coming from a DHD.
Today I installed the 1.28 update and since then my cellular signal has been all over the place. I normally get a solid 5bar HSDPA signal where I live and since the update I have had nothing but issues.
My Sim card seems to be rejected (I am baseing this around the fact that when the radio seems to cycle I get a message saying "preparing sim") but aso it seems to just lock up entirely. Earlier I thought I had a signal only to make a call and have it fail, I tried to cycle the power to the radio by putting the phone into airplane mode but this didnt work so had to do a hard reset which then allowed me to make a call, but the call froze after 5 minutes, again with a seemingly locked up radio.
Any one else got these issues, as my phone is effectively a small but expensive tablet at the moment!
I have that issue BEFORE the 1.28 update. The other day my wife rang me at work and whilst we were talking we were cut off but my phone still showed as connected with signal. I figured she maybe lost signal herself. I tried to ring her back both on her mobile and the land line and my phone would not ring out (as far as I was concerned) I tried to put Airplane mode on but it didn't work so I had to reset the phone.
I haven't had it since but the strange thing is even though the phone didn't give me any indication that it was ringing out my wife said that both her mobile and the land line rang.
It seems strange that I couldn't toggle the radio/airplane mode or hear anything but the phone did actually ring out. Maybe the issue effected the radio and speaker? That's something to test if yours does it again. Ring a phone nearby to see if that does actually ring?
Update from yesterday, I currently have a signal as I am typing this, if however I make a call it will connect and I can listen for a second then it drops with the signal dieing. Followed right away by coming back up.
A reboot seemed to fix it for the moment, but not sure how long for. Next step is a factory reset for me and see how I get on from then.
AFAIK, the radio isn't updated?
I have taken it back and swapped it for another one now. Just waiting for it to charge then I am going to do the FOTA update and then install everything. So far though so good and the three calls I have made/recieved worked perfectly.
Seems to have beena faulty handset *fingers crossed"

[Q] Anyone having network issues, radio problems?

I am on my second International HTC one X and both devices would lose the carrier signal quit often... I would either go to airplane mode, or turn the network off and on and it would grab it again. Sometimes it would be good for the day and other times, I would have to do it a few times....
I wanted to think it was my carrier having issues (MTS in Winnipeg MB Canada)... however, this has never happened on my many other devices. Now I wake up today and turn on the mobile data, after awhile... it does not connect, under settings it says disconnected because service is unavailable. I tried reboots, restart, airplane mode, checking apn settings.... on my last reboot, it says No signal/emergency calls only.
So now I am fearing a hardware issue (but I find it odd it happens on both my one xs).
I love this device and aside from this potentially huge issue.... I have no complaints, so I will ask here and see if you guys have any solid input.. before I contact htc!
I also popped my sim in and out, as of right now...
Thx in advance.
**update: it almost seems like putting wifi on, knocks out my carrier signal.... after an hour of doing the above things, I turned off wifi, went to airplane mode and now my signal and data is there (it makes no sense) and it is quite a hassle
The weirder part is, it seems to only be in the morning.... once I am up and running, I do not seem to have many issues through out the day, but If I put wifi on long enough... It goes to no signal/eventually....
If I do not put on wifi, it either does not drop.... or I am not noticing.
I've just begun having network problems but I'm not sure it's related to your situation. I'm in Australia on the Optus network.
It happened suddenly yesterday. Service completely cuts out for extended periods. It will occasionally come back on for a short while (long enough to download all my sms) but will then cut out again. When the signal does briefly come back in, the signal strength is decent: it's an all-or-nothing proposition.
Did you manage to resolve your situation? Would be interested to know what resolved it for you.
I've had this phone since early April when it was released here and the is the first issue I've had with it. I haven't done anything new to my phone in the past week so I'm finding this strange. I'm running Leedroid 4.0.0 but I've had that installed for weeks without issue. I'm worried it could be a hardware issue.
I'm going to try reflashing it tonight to see if it's a software issue.

Phone unusable during a call??

Am I missing a setting or something? I am unable to turn my phone(screen) back on at anytime during a call once it times out and shuts off. Neither the power, or home buttons will wake it while a call is in progress. So if at anytime during a call I need to check a text, look up info, or even make a selection for an automated system im out of luck. This has been happening since I got the phone on launch day, and at first it didnt bother me, but now that I have had to call customer support for my home internet a couple times this past weekend it has become quite the issue. As if I make a wrong selection I get stuck in the automated system, and cant wake the phone to end the call, so i have to take my phone out of its case, rip the back off, and pull the battery. I searched google & this forum, but didnt find anything. Was hoping the latest update would fix it, but it seems I may be the only one experiencing this.
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Could it really be the screnn protector? I dont seem to have any issues with auto brightness.

Autoconnect Wifi with screen turned off

This issue has been annoying me for quite some time, and after a lot of searching (and trying stuff) I've decided to make my own thread because nothing seems to help.
Let's say I'm at work and I turn on my phone's WiFi radio, this makes it connect to the work WiFi without problems. Now once I go back home, the network becomes out of range so it switches back to 3G/4G (so far so good). But when I actually get home, it takes 10-15 minutes before my phone finally decides it can connect to the WiFi there. I have certain appliances that rely on my phone making a timely WiFi connection so you can imagine this will trip a few of them because I'm long home before it finally connects. I already tried toggling various battery/power/app optimisations found across this forum, but as mentioned nothing works. Pretty sure it's because Android scans for nearby networks only once every X minutes.
Now, I can "force" it to connect by just knocking on the screen to turn it on, but I either forget this or have my hands full and am unable to knock (and shouldn't be necessary anyways). So in short: is there any way to force Android to check for networks every X seconds/minutes instead? I am rooted, if that helps in any way.
