I NEW HERE, I HAVE THE CINGULAR 8125.
A FEW QUESTION ABOUT THE ROM UPGRADE
WILL I LOSS MY PROGRAMS, WHEN UPLOADING NEW ROM?
WILL I HAVE TO RESERT ALL THE CINGULAR SETTING SO IT WILL STILL WORK ON THE EDGE NET?
WILL THE BLUE TOOTH NOW WORK WITH THE STERIO HEADSETS, AND VOICE ACTIVATION?
DO I HAVE TO UNLOCK MY PHONE AND IF SO HOW?
AND WHICH ROM DID I WANT, I HAVE
ROM VERSION 1.8.11.1
RADIO VERSION 01.09.11
EXTON VERSION 1.8.11.103
I AM NEW AT THIS SO IT HAS TO BE EASY
THANKS :?:
Greetings!
The ROM upgrade will make you lose all the information in your phone. Just sync your phone before executing the upgrade.
I did the SIM and CID unlocks before upgrading, just to be sure.
BTW after upgrading you\'ll notice the phone response will be snappier than before.

I just updated my Siemens SX66 to the latest qtek rom update (rom 1.40.00, radio 1.13.00, ext rom 1.40.556). I have cingular and now I can't connect to the gprs at all. I found in my phone software for connecting to various providers like T-mobile, vodafone, versatel, etc... I found this software under start and Install GPRS & MMS. The software doesn't include Cingular for the gprs connection. Please someone help me, I just got this phone and had a hard enough time just updating the rom, so now I just dont know what to do. Is there a fix or do I have to go back to the old stock rom from siemens. Please help me because I am totally lost.
Thanks so much,
Jared
Hi all,
i am thinking about upgrading to one of the WM6 Roms from this forum.
There are some doubts I am thinking about:
Do i have to flash the Bootloader to HardSPLv7 when i only plan to flash the OS?
The background is that i am running on Radio 1.32.00.00 after flashing with the official new ROM 2.04.162.1 from Vodafone.de and dont want to change anything despite the OS, because this Radio works fine for me!
And for varanty purposes i dont want to change anythin other then the OS.
As i figured out from the upgrade guides, the new Bootloader is only needed when also upgrading the Radio. Am i wrong?
I think the WM6 Roms also work fine eith other Radios and Bootloaders, isn't it?
Also i want to know if Vodafone Live! is (incl. Video Streaming) is working fine with the WM6 Roms?
Thanks for your help,

Yes you need to flash the bootloader to flash the OS. Your radio won't change.
Thanks
Ok thank you for that information.
Does anyone know if Vodafone Live! and MobileTV is working with WM6 Roms?
AnyOne tried yet on the Vodafone Network (or even Vodafone.de network)?
Thanks in advance,
Hype2k
You can flash only OS, but you would be foolish to NOT flash HardSPL 7.
I didn't think any of the vodafone live stuff worked on these things due to the browser and the coding of the site. Mind I've only tried it on vodafone uk. whenever I try and browse I just get a blank screen, buy I have an htc tytn noy a VF branded one.
Video calling works fine by the way if that's any help.
Since I installed WM6 I can´t recieve incoming calls. The phone lights up but nothing more, and when I click on the reception or phone symbol when it lights up it says "no service" (translated from Swedish).
It was also some problems with Active Sync 4.5 since I upgraded, but those problems might just be because I needed to reinstall it.
Does anybody please know how to fix this, otherwise tomorrow it will go to the repair-shop and I will lose 12 days and the order in my life. : (
The sim-card works on another phone and it worked with WM5, and I have tried hard reset and a reinstall of WM6, but the problem persists.

Hi,
Did you try to install an offoicial version of WM6 or one of the cooked ones of this board? If the latter did you take all the necessary precautions first eg installing an upgraded bootloader, etc?
If you have not you may have bricked your phone.
Give us a bit more detail so we can see how we can help.
Cheers

hello
I had the same problem when I upgrade to official WM6 HTC rom, the phone don't ring and I loose the network.
I solve the problem with flashing the radio rom with older version.
I put wm6 on my phone the first day I got it. so I don't really know if this was a problem b4 with wm5.
mine only seems to ring my end after about 8 rings from the dialer so I have to get it within 2 rings b4 voice mail kicks in. Ypu think the if I update the radio as well will that help me?
ps. sorry for hi-jacking your topic seemed along the same line.
the same problem with Bouygues telecom!

Hi there
I had the same problem with mine after flashing to wm6 (but on a trinity)
Apparently there are 2 fixes:
1. Get a NEW sim , or
2. Flash radio rom back to an earlier version that was used with wm5.
Hope this helps

Two concrete solutions.
One last question: I use a Swedish OS - do the radio roms that is under: "Extracted Radio ROMs for your Hermes" work for me? Or only Anglosaxian PDA:s?
/Dan
similar problem discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1442269#post1442269
in fact Palm Treo 750 (HTC Cheetah) and Hermes are based on the same radio module.
latest Palm Treo WM6 Radio version: 1.47 (Qualcom)
What that Palm utility does is simply downgrading radio to earlier version. This might work for Hermes in bootloader mode as well.
My point is: no need to install hard sspl if one can downgrade to earlier version of radio with _official_ radio downgrade tool.
I will try later and report back.
update: Palm Radio downgrade tool picked up that device is incompatible. no luck so far.
Seems problem is with Bouygues Telecom
Hi Guys,
Got the exact same problem with Bouygues Telecom. I put a Orange Sim card and it is working so I assume the issue comes from Bouygues Telecom.
So that to check, are the french guys all on Bouygues Telecom or are you using other Telco operators?
Frederic
SOLVED : WM6 & HTC Tytn & Bouygues Telecom now working
Guys,
to make it work, you need to flash ROM Radio 1.38 on top of Windows Mobile 6.
ROM Radio 1.38 can be finded at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms
what version did you use? There are few of them listed on that page:
1.38.00.01
1.38.00.10
1.38.30.10
When I got my replacement AT&T 8525, it came with the AT&T WM5 ROM. I decided to downgrade to the Cingular WM5 version since I didn't like the AT&T one. I've been skeptical about upgrading to the official WM6 release, and I figured that since I have some time tonight that I would. However, I do have a couple of questions about how this will work since I had to install a different bootloader in order to make the change back to the Cingular WM5 version possible.
Currently my settings are:
ROM version: 1.34.502.1
ROM date: 09/21/06
Radio version: 1.40.30.00
HardSPLv7
My question are, do I need to modify my radio version before I upgrade? Also, should I modify my bootloader before I upgrade to the official WM6? Thanks.
Firstly good job on flashing HardSPL.
your radio doesnt need to be changed at all, but if you want to take a peek at my tests here that might help you choose an appropriate radio version.
For WM6 DEFINATLY go for it, the updated stacks/drivers/kernel are definatly faster than the WM5 versions.
Give the pandora naked 7 ROM a shot........it will FLY.
Your settings can be restored for AT&T using the HTC network wizard (easily found with a search).......and make sure you backup all your contacts etc... using PIMBackup (in the development forum).
I keep getting an error 264 connection error saying that the update utility cannot connect to my phone. I've followed all the steps. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The only thing that sparks my mind that I don't remember occuring before is that when I plug my phone in via USB ActiveSync automatically begins, so I wasn't sure if I needed to disable that function or not since the instructions mentioned something about being sure that happens before installing the new ROM.
Any help? I'm still stuck here.
I just did mine (I am a brand new to all this) and I followed these steps word for word in this thread, adn man what a difference .
read these all the way through.

Nates good people and willing to help although he is a caffeine addict
and after you upgrade the rom do this, but read it all before doing so
HTC plug in , great look for the 8525

Oh i forgot, the HTC att WM6 included the radio upgrade to the 1.48. which works great.
Information overload, too many wm6 updates.
Looking for the best and latest update to wm6+ for my phone
My phone as of now is
wm5 locked to orange sim
OS 5.1.465 (build 15673.3.3.1)
Standard SPL? and radio?
Will these upgrades work on UK orange network, and I've seen somewhere a cab file i think to reinstall all my orange network settings, I hope to do an upgrade this weekend
Thanks Phil
Phil
I did the upgrade on an M3100 on Orange UK and used ROM CE OS 5.2.19202 (Build 19202.1.0.0 PV DVH) 16MB PP CLEAN. Works fine. I did not even need to run the network wizard to set up all the Orange UK settings. Great Rom
Phil ... before you try anything make sure you go HardSPL so you don't end up bricking your device.

Personally the most stable/fastest rom I've ever used is K's WM6 Final
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350695
I'm currently using starbase64's S64_WM_6.1_HTC_v2_WWE which is very feature rich and WM6.1 (but I did SuperCID my device before hand)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380433
Once you've upgraded your M3100, you'll probably find that your orangeworld browsing is reduced to a txt-wap view so you'll need to installed Rabdo's little fix

Thanks, just downloaded the HTC update 838Pro_HK_ENG_WM6_Upgrade_20070712
and
HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a
should I upgrade my phone first or unlock first?
Wanted to try Official wm6 from htc, before the other roms, can I do that? pick, choose and try any roms
The sim unlock should be done 1st because atleast you'll be safe knowing the IPL is 1.01 and SPL changed to 1.40.Olipro (HardSPL-1.40)
Note that when you use the "AUTO_Unlock_v3a.bat" file ... it will want to downgrade your Radio from 1.38.00.01 to 1.16.00.01 (which means you will lose HSDPA connectivity) ... so you'll need to upgrade again
Also when the unlock program is finally executed, if you chose to SuperCID your device, you'll be able to load any Rom but manufacturers warranty is out the window.
Just run HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a
It ran very smoothly
ROM version 2.11.61.3
ROM Date 05/21/07
Radio version 1.16.00.00
IPL-1.01
SPL-1.40.01ipro
Installed my 3 network sim, all okay, it worked, just need to install 3 network settings
i have brewed and installed wm6 roms with no problems, even upgraded the radios to newer versions, all you will need to do is input the gprs/3g access settings and install the sms fix to allow voicemails and sms to get through properly
