The connector for active-sync of the XDA is very badly constructed.
Until I got my new XDA2, I had a XDA1. I had it exchanged (warranty) against the XDA2
after some discussion with o2 about bad quality ot the xda1 (I had it 3 times repaired, but it broke soon again. Last problem: the connector for syncing broke 3 days after I got the replacement xda.)
The problem seems to be the smal plastic lid that holds the contacts:
While the plug resting on the plastic lid and the metal frame not supporting the plug suffiiciently because of a quite big gap between them, the lid could easily break if force
is applied up- or downward.
This way my last replacement XDA1 deterioated.
(Un-)Fortunately, the active-sync+charge cable (non O2-accessory) I had for XDA1 my seems to be pin compatible (syncing works).
So the plug is the same, and one should be VERY careful with it.
->Also the original charging adapter is constructed in a way to send bending forces to
the small plastic lid of the inner connector (good to know for warranty discussions).
I actually think of a plug-adaptor, that interfaces between the original plug and the outer
world. It cold be supported via a steelframe that one integrates into the original wallet.
Ideas are welcome!
Summary for the lazy:
---------------
! The Active-Sync-Plug is *badly* constructed.
- The inner plastic lid holding the connectors BREAKS easily.
---------------------------------------
!! So beware of cables attached to the sync connector. !!
---------------------------------------
Use only the craddle that applies forces only to the case of the XDA
:!:
May I add on top of this ... it happened to me and the USB connector is broken. The bad news is: there is NO way yo fix it and as it's integrated with the main board (the power pin) the only option is to replace the main board :x
Guys, be more than just careful with your devices on that point.

This is not necessarily true. We have the sync and audiojack connectors in stock and can replace them. They are a pain, but doable.
May be you are right, but it's the case with my device. They said the connection point with the power track (pin) is lost, so the main board has to be replaced. Or maybe they are not equipped the same way you have at USA, and the shipping cost makes it more expensive
In Australia the O2 service Centre will charge you for a compleate replacment main board, they say they can't fix the connector and because the phone was out of warranty they simply charge for a compleatly new board :x SHARKS!
XDA Connector repairs avaliable here
Hi Guys,
I used a company in the UK to repair by busted XDA 2. The damn connector fell out when using an aftermarket in car charger. Got his company to repair it. Were pretty good. their web site adress is www.apexlaptops.co.uk
I was pleased wit the service. Hope they can help you like they helped me!
Good luck guys.
Pocket PC Techs ROCK
I had my unit connected to a cable and landed on the floor - connector first. OUCH. The female connector on the bottom of the unit was loose - and the unit became useless (connections no longer worked). I sent it to Pocket PC Techs, and they fixed and returned it all within a week, and for a very reasonable fee as well. Try them. It'll probably work. Just be gentle with it when it's plugged in.

Broken SYNC Connector on my XDA IIi
Can anyone repair this????
If they can please email me with details (address, cost etc)
My email is [email protected]
Thankx
I have one with the connector completely off. Rather soldering a new one on, I was thinking of hard wiring a usb lead on, to fit my arkon gps receiver. Does anyone know the pin outs. I only need data in/out, ground and vcc
my xda 2 is pissing me off now im hardly able to charge it anymore as i have to bend the charger in the connector to get it to charge and keep it like it.
im needing just the connector from the bottom from either a xda 1 or 2 as they areboth the same by the looks of it.
either a smashed screen xda1 will do or just a xda1 or xda2 barred/knackered board will do fine aslong as the connector is great cond
anyone help me out here?
cheers
gaz
Ive got the same problem - but its still under guarantee and back at O2 for repair now - try taking yours back.
Maybe the start of a common fault?
mine was brought second hand mate no receipts or nothing dont think theyll repair it? not even got a box or cradel all i got was stylus, charger and phone itself
Gazz, it doesnt matter if you dont have a receipt, just ring this number 08081003427, they will want the imei number and will then send a packet for you to return the phone for repair.
is that all? hmmm looks like ill be ringing them on monday
btw i have imate software installed on the device and the warrenty sticker is non existant :\ as its been brocken to open the xda2 will they take it still? :?:
Hi mate,
had the same problem, mine is under warranty, but they still wanted 180+ to repair (connector and mainboard). I told them to return unrepaired. I have now got a spare battery (35 from expansys), which I charge in the cradle. I just swap batteries instead of charging, and synch using Bluetooth.
um feckers its working fine syncing but i just tried my car charger on it and that works fine?!?! :?: this is confusing lol ill just charge it up via car all the while lol
cheers for the info peeps but if anyone still has the connector/brocken pbc ill buy it from them cheers
gaz
This IS a COMMON fault.. two of my friends had this problem... me too.. i dropped my i-mate and i damaged the connector but thanks God it only got slided to the front and i could push it and get it back to its original position and it worked 100%..
but my friend couldnt make it so he sent it to Carrier Devices main centre in Dubai and they fixed it for about 35$..
it's really strange that O2 wants 180..
anyways this is a common fault and all xdaII users should watch out when the put or take their devices from the cradle..
I have a similar problem on one charger but the xda charges fine on the other charger so it could also be a problem with the plug rather then the xda socket.
just opened up my XDA 2 to have another look and one side of the connector is like bent upwards and cracked 3 legs of its solders.... i got some plyers out and tried pulling the mettal outer bit down and it ripped straight off lol, i resoldered the legs back into place all works fine except the connectors havent got nothing to clip into and its very fragile now.
also wanted is brocken IPAQ 38XX, 39XX, HP's they all have the same connectors on anyone help me out here?
i took my dads ipaq 3870 to bits and its exactly the same conector im gonna desolder the connector off a brocken ipaq if i can get hold of one then put it into my XDA 2 that will sort it good and propper
so anyone got any brocken Ipaq 38XX and up or XDA2 pbc or xda 1 pbc?
cheers
This could be your lucky day!
I have a duffed up XDA here!.
Duffed up coz I broke the screen.
The rest of it is as good as new. Cross my palm with silver and the world is your oyster.
I've run out of stupid sayings now.................but I do have an XDA for you! I bought a used replacement rather than sending it to PDAsmart.com for repair. PDAsmart want $199 plus the postage to replace the LCD. In real money thats over £130. The replacement cost £110. Maths was never my strong point, but where the heck do they get of charging that amount for and LCD?
Let me know if you want the old XDA
how much u asking for the PBC mate? is the connector undamaged?
lmk a price mate and ill see
XDA I for sale.
I've got an old XDA I that's fine but stuck in in-car mode so it keeps discharging the battery, otherwise it works perfectly fine). You can have the lot if the price is right, might as well send you all the box and everything else too if you want it.
give me an email and you can have it, [email protected].
im alrite now mate i got one from ebay

Speaker repair
I had the exact same problem. It seems HTC was saving money on the glue for that batch in particular. I 'fixed' my speaker several monthes ago, and it's still working fine.
What I did was put a small piece of twist-tie, (or wire would work too I guess) in the shape of a half circle between the speaker and housing. This keeps the pressure on it, like you mentioned when you push it. When this stops working I may consider buying a new speaker, but it works just fine!
This seems to be a frequent problem, my speaker also just died yesterday, again for no reason. My solution was similar to Stuclint's, I put a bit of folded paper to keep the pressure on it. Sound quality is awful though, so I ordered a new one for £6 from ebay, but at least now I can hear it ringing
I bought a new speaker too...
... but mine is from IPMART. Costs around $4.00 US, but I only bought it to fill up my shipping weight. The prices are great, but shipping (to germany at least) costs a fortune! I also ordered a new housing ($19.95), but got the wrong one. It was a 818 housing instead of the 818pro I ordered. I'm still trying to get the right one, and was also waiting until then to use the new speaker. But like I say, the solution I'm using now works fine. No noticable distortion. My housing is toast though, try not to drop it on the SD card side.... I did and now have a huge opening all down the Camera, Volume, CommManager side.
I have the replacement speakers if anyone needs them. $4 for the speaker and $3 for the shipping.

It's quite easy to replace. You don't need to solder anything. There is a little white clip that fits into a connection on the mainboard. You can change a speaker in about 10 minutes.
thanks for the anwser my friend. I see the white clip conector that you talk about. Now i need too know that is just disconet? just pull out?. I ask that because a few mouth ago to change a display i damage the conector because i don´t know there are a grey secutity clip that we have to pull out.
If you live in Rome, there is a shop that sells the speakers and all spareparts along the road leading from stazione tusculano towards via appia.

Do you have made a ROM upgrade?
its your flexible.. the one who connect lcd to the motherboard of your hermes.. i had the very same problem 3 months ago. and i bought it the flexible on ebay for $50..
I had the same problem. If i push the ON/OFF button twicce, one for turn off the PDA and one to turn it on again, i can see the display OK. Orange has changed me the PDA.
Flex Cable Connector
It is the flex cable connector that goes bad. You can get a new flex cable as mentioned before on ebay (I've seen for $35)... or you can try the other fix mentioned on the link in the first reply: disassemble the phone, put a small peice of foam (similar to memory foam) over the flex cable connector, and reassemble the phone. This worked for me. It holds the connector in tighter and the screen whiteout quit. You will need a T-6 screw driver.

Hello,
I have a Dasaita installed in my 2018 Toyota Avensis.
Unfortunately, after I put the device in reverse gear, it stays with the view of the rear camera. Dasaita has also already provided me with a new MCU version (see attachment), but unfortunately it did not help. The problem looks like this:
The reverse signal comes from the CAN BUS decoder.
Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this problem?
Does the reversing image go away when you turn the car off and back on and then return when you shift into reverse the first time?
I have a 2017 Toyota Camry which is similar to the Avensis with a PX6 SYGAV/DASAITA head unit.
Software suggestions:
Verify the Canbus options are correct for your vehicle. You can find these in Settings... Car... Factory settings.... 126
Here are the settings for my vehicle. Yours may be different. I would suggest setting the Type settting to "0 NO" as those seem to be quite specific to vehicle models with certain options. I had several check engine codes occurring with my car when Type was set to anything other than 0
You could also try setting the Canbus selection to 0 (effectively disabling the canbus adapter)
Hardware things to try:
1. Pull the ground wire from the car's battery for about a minute or so.
2. Try disconnecting the canbus adapter and then try shifting into reverse. The radio will function without the canbus adapter. This would tell you conclusively whether the reverse signal is indeed from the canbus adapter. I would not be very surprised if reverse works the same even without the canbus adapter. I know there is a reverse signal wire on the car harness on either the 24 pin connector or the 26 pin (can't remember right off which one but could find out if needed).
Maybe my suggestions will help somehow. Finally, you may have a defective canbus adapter or MCU board. Best of luck to you.

No. When I turn off the car and then restart it, the rearview image is still there. Only if the car was off for a longer time, the device is not at the rear view camera image after the start.

1. Pull the ground wire unfortunately did not help. Especially since the reversing signal works with the original Toyota Touch 2.
2. The signal comes 100% from the CAN bus adapter. It is possible to connect the cable either to the CAN bus or to the connector from the car. Unfortunately, the reversing signal is not assigned to the car connector.
The reason I was suggesting to try running without the Canbus was to hopefully confirm or exclude it as the source of the problem. Perhaps you could get Dasaita to provide a replacement Canbus adapter and/or harness, but then again maybe you could get them to replace the whole unit. Just be advised that their tech support will do everything they possibly can to get you to give up and go away.
I doubt Toyota would rely on a software signal to trigger the reversing camera on the factory display. Hope that you are able to get this sorted out. Best of luck to you.
Thanks for your help
I unplugged the reverse signal coming from the CAN bus adapter and plugged it back in. I assume that it is the CAN bus adapter:
I wonder if you could pick up the reverse signal from somewhere else like another harness under the dash, or even run a wire from the reverse lights on the back of the car? Sounds kind of extreme and that kind of takes away from the "plug and play" idea of having the Toyota specific harness from Dasaita. What you paid for should "just work" as advertised.
This might seem like a silly question and apologies in advance, but do the reverse lights turn on and off like they should? Of course, you know, if they do, the idea of running a wire from the positive lead on one of the reverse lights to the reverse signal wire on the back of the radio might be a possible workaround for your situation. I remember my 2010 Toyota Tacoma had a lead in one of the factory harnesses under the glove box area that I tapped to get reverse signal for an aftermarket radio.

Your CAN unit isn't working correctly. Replace or workaround with signal wire as @jlbooth has suggested.
If this is out of your area of expertise, a local electrical/electronic repairer might be best to work with.
You can get a reverse signal from your reverse light. Use that instead of the can bus signal and see what happens
Thanks to all. I have now picked up the signal from somewhere else. Now everything works.
My pleasure @chrisv4. Thank you for reporting back your success .
Hello to everyone.
I have the same problem like chrisv4. I have contacted Dasaita and told them my problem. They still going around a circle and obviously don't know what is the problem. I have Toyota CH-R 2018, led lights. When I am switching to reverse, the screen is switching to reverse camera, but after swithcing to neutral (for example), the camera doesn't want to turn off. If I disconnected the cable like member chrisv4, the screen switched, but after putting the wire together, the reverse camera screen is went back again. I dont know, where the problem is, because on some youtube video, the people don't have a problem with factory camera. It seem that the camera is not grounded or somethink like that.
Do you have some ideas what it could be?
Thank you so much for your suggestion. I am also waiting for Dasaita engineer satement.

Ciao a tutti.
Ho lo stesso problema di chrisv4. Ho contattato Dasaita e gli ho spiegato il mio problema. Stanno ancora girando in cerchio e ovviamente non sanno qual è il problema. Ho Toyota CH-R 2018, luci a led.

Hey,
sorry for late reply, but Dasaita "engineers" were not able to solve the problem. They sent me many Can bus adapters, but it did not solve the problem. I don't know where the problem is. They still talked me to cut the wire etc., change can bus etc. I am not mechanic, but I think that in the inner car software there must be something to change it.
