Im looking for help!
My MDA PRO has a broken USB port. I can not upgrade this way. Is there another way, maybe via SD-card or bluetooth?

Hi everyone...
A friend gave me his brand new T-Mobile MDA PRO which have the following problem - there is no sound from it.
the device came with version no 11242_126_10002. i tried several times to hard reset it and i tried both with the T-mobile software pack and without it (soft reset soon as the 3 second message comes) but on both ways there is no sound.
i downloaded the upgrade from T-Mobiles site (version 12032_120_10600) and tried he same two methods as above but got the same result.
there was one time though, that i did have sound but soon as i made a soft reset it went away again...
PLEASE HELP......ENYBODY!!!!!
I had a similar problem with my JasJar. After 3 months of sending it back to reapir center they have finaly replaced the mainboard. I think that mini jack port makes all those problems. Try to get some mini jack (like from portable headphones) and plug into the port in your device. Them move the jack in diffrent directions. Maybe it will help

Is it possible to upgrade a Jasjar's Rom from the SD Card??? as I broke the USB Port so I can no longer upgrade the normal way, the phone was replaced under warranty but I still have the original phone that I would like to use for trying new roms. Any way of upgrading with out using usb port???
Please anyone
Hi all,
Some one must know the answer to this, I really want to use my Jasjar and as I said the usb connector is broken. So is it possible to upgrade by SD card or any other way.
No. Thats the simple answer. I think PPC techs offer a repair for $60 thought, which seems reasonable. Its on the forum somewhere.
After trying all types of tricks, I am still unable to get my USB port on the Artemis to do anything but charge the phone. I am dying to stick a Tom_codon firmware on the thing but without a USB port I am pretty much dead in the water. Anyone have any experience with PPC Techs repair service? They seem like they are pretty fast at turnaround time. I am curious how much a mini-USB port repair might cost. Don't they just open the case, de-solder old port, solder in a new one, close it and run some diagnostics or does it go deeper than that?
Any experience or pricing info for this type of repair would be appreciated. Thanks!
Really wish we had some news on the HTC Polaris...might be vaporware!

No one has ever used PPC Techs??
Looks like everyone has a perfectly functional Artemis all the time?! I would love to get mine repaired if it is worthwhile, especially since the WM6 upgrade is out from HTC. Anyways, please weigh in with your thoughts/experiences in getting a repair done either from PPC Techs or HTC themselves. Thanks!

Hi,
my Problem is exactly the same. But I cant send it to t-mobile because i've flashed an WM6 for O2 and without USB I can't update to the original German T-Mobile ROM.
Greetings
Ali
I had a minor probelm with the USB connector where the headphones would crack and splutter on playback.
I used some good contact cleaner and it seems to have done the trick.

Hi Guys n Gals,
Please help me!
Basically just got a HTC Universal locked on T-Mobile UK, which I bought 2nd/3rd hand.
Got it quite cheap and love it! Only problem is I want to unlock it and use on O2. However, whenever I attach USB cable to phone and laptop/PC message comes up saying USB Device not recognised!!! It is really frustrating!!!!
Tried all variations e.g. diferent PCs, cables etc to no avail. My HTC Artemis connectes just phone on any computer!!!
Basically all I want to know is that can I unlock it without being able to activesync to it?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Help as I am running out of options. Have hard reset phone to solve USB issue bt nuttin! Tok it to phone shop to get repaired but they said they could not USB to it either and can't unlock it!

Two possibilities,
1 You dont have activesync installed on the PC (activesync drivers are required to communicate with device or you use Vista which requires driver downgrade (instructions in the Wiki))
2 Your USB port is damaged and requires resoldering to attach the correct pins (simply job to do, cheap repair, instructions are on the forum/Wiki)
Cheers,
Beasty
Thanks beast0898 for your suggestions. I use Win XP.
I suggest it is the USB port that needs repair as tried many PCs all with activesync latest version installed still same response.
Ill try the soldering now. Hope there is some pics and stuff to help me out!

The job is a very simple one to do yourself, the connector can easily become loose if your are not gentle when inserting cables. When you open the Uni up, you will see how easy it is sir. There are companies in the UK that will do it for you for around £40 with a new connector, if you're not happy doing it yourself.

i just received my friend's old t-mobile dash after he got his g1.
it will be my first windows mobile device so i am pretty excited
unfortunately, all he gave me was the phone+battery. i tried turning it on but with no success.
i don't own a mini usb to usb cable (i must be the only one in the world) so i can't test if i can charge via such a cable.
