Need help...after 7 months of trouble free use my Orbit has suddenly died. It basically started last week where the phone would for no reason at all soft reset itself. After it booted up the clock would go back to its original setting back in 2006 & had to be adjusted again. The soft reset would happen without any pattern e.g. when I push the talk button when call comes through, when I try to open a program or even just pressing a button to wake it up from standby.
Anyway yesterday it did the same thing but this time it boots up to the O2 splash screen i.e. the blue screen with the picture of the glass building, & then just remains there with the backlight still on. I've resorted to a hard reset but again it will only boot up to the blue screen.
Any ideas?

I'm having a similar problem and I have posted my symptoms here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344335) , though I never overclock my orbit before. ANyone have any solutions? Thanks in advance
Mod, please move my message to Hermes WIN Mob 6 forum
I upgraded to WM 6 with the repackaged version of the ROM WM6 Dopod WWE 3.54.707.3 yesterday and mighty pleased with it, however I have one problem and I do not know if it is ROM related or just some setting I've screwed up in the process of changing a lot of settings.
When I turn off the phone in Comm manager and turn it on later the phone will not find the network and keeps asking for the phone pin. Entering the PIN you can see it searching on the antenna icon at top of the Today screen but then it just pops up the Phone PIN screen repeatedly.
The only way to get the phone back on is a soft reset. Pretty annoying as I turn off the phone regularly each day
Also I do not have the old flight mode/wifi balloon now when tapping on the antenna/wifi icons in main sceen, I assume this has been dropped from WM5?
Any ideas guys?

Do a Hard Reset then test the ROM out for a few days. If you are not satisfied with it try one of the cooked WM6 versions (since they are superior).
Thanks
I will play with it as you suggest, also forgot to mention the keyboard no longer illuminates :-(
My radio too is an old version 1.03.03.10. Should I upgrade it first before flasing another ROM ( I have Hard Spl loaded OK)
After adding all my email settings for different accounts and loading apps I don't feel like a change of ROM for a few more days ;-)
Thanks,
Al
i think the problem is with your radio, try any radio at least 1.23 and above
I've been on WM6 since the second day I had my hermes, about 3-4 months ago. I've been on 4 or 5 different trips on planes requiring flight mode. Various LSVW and Sleuth ROMs used with various radios from 1.38 and on...
Not once, despite many layovers, have I had an issue with the phone not coming out of flight mode.
So, in my experiance, no, not a WM6 bug.

I have almost the same problem, but in my case it doesn't ask for PIN code. If I disable PIN request, everything is fine. Try to do the same and see if it's OK. This is the first ROM with this behaviour, but I can live with it in exchange of the amazing speed and phone respondivness !
I haven't seen this problem, but I do see a problem with opening a data connection after being in Flight Mode. It tries to connect to the provider 3-4 times (with quick connects), and then fails with an unable to connect message. At that point, I need to reset in order to connect to data again.
seems to be like the same problem that i am having!! i think its linked to the SOD bug, my herm100 continously reboots the 'radio' part of the phone.. when making a call the phone shows full signal however after placing the call the signal drops before connecting and it searches again for network... im sure that the phone is doing this whilst in standby mode too (maybe linking to the SOD problem) and since you've got you pin request on it seems to be cycling and asking for a pin code!! hope we can find a solution i've tried a few things but nothing seems to cure it!
Did anybody find a solution to this? My TyTn does the same
Hi!
I have a Qtec 9090, english language and keypad.
I got a problem with bad connection or bad backup battery. When I tried a different simcard i took of my battery. when I started the device again, it had lost power and the device had reset itself. Normally when i start it again after hard reset, a little installation prosess that last about a minute or two, then the device is ready for use, empty as new.
What happened this time is that in the middle of the installation process, the device lost contact with the battery, for some reason, and went black!
After it restarted again, i only can get a white screen, and a little ping at startup. The screen is only white.
I have tried to install different rom's, but i only get wrong country code...
I can access the files on the device through activesync, but the device does not look like it starts up, it charges on usb as usual.
Do anyone have the knowledge to help me?
Thanx,
John
i got the same problem

Greetings, Hamlet
I tried to do a firmware upgrade (HA_VZW_207_117_01167_A12.exe from Verizon) on my BA using ActiveSync 4.5 from a Vista Ultimate workstation. The upgrade process stopped and now I have dim screen with the word "Serial" at the top and "v1.02" at the bottom. The BA does not respond to any buttons, hard resets, battery removal, etc. What did I do, can it be fixed, and how do I do it? Thanks for any insights and help.
more on Serial v1.02
I should have added this:
I have tried holding Power + Record + stylus in Reset hole, but when I do, the screen display does not change, still Serial v1.02.
I get the "bedunk" sound when I put the BA in the cradle but no light on the BA indicating that it is charging and no indication in ActiveSync that the BA is connected.
When I run the upgrade firmware program, I get a Error 101: Connection error.
Problem is Vista?
Just got everything to work on an XP workstation. Maybe it is a Vista problem thing.
Verizon should have posted an instruction how to upgrade under Vista environment...try searching their forum. It has to be somewhere!

The same thing happened to me when I tried to upgrade my phone to WM6. What I did was to restart everything and resume upgrading. Hope this help.
I had same problem, and I solved it applying original rom update for appropriate device.
Using other rom updates it was giving errors or it was not working at all.
My PDA is Blue Angel - QTek 9090 and I used BA_WWE_14000_147_11200_Ship.exe
Now is everything working
Hope it will help you, too

Hello all, recently my Orbit screen was broken and was replaced today. Problem is however i've encountered some problems...in that when loading it passes the O2 splash screen, then goes to Windows Mobile green splash screen and stops there. Tried reset many times, not getting anywhere. Another problem is that it will not connect to my computer, i'm thinking it cant be the connector as the phone when plugged into charge charges (led lights up).
Any wise ideas of wisdom?
Thanks
Simon
it would appear that a hard reset has just done the trick! yey
