Best Universal ROM for T-Mobile - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Now, the question is, now I am free of O, what is the best ROM to use on T-Mobile on my M5000.
I have already upgraded the Radio ROM to 1.09 and will be keeping that...
I have a few of Lines of thought...
1. Leave it as it is (Orange ROM) and just change all the settings.
2. Install the latest IMATE ROM
3. Install the latest IMATE ROM and use the T-Mobile extended ROM rather than the IMATE one.
4. Install the latest IMATE ROM and use the Orange extended ROM rather than the IMATE one.
5. Something completely different, as suggested by yourselves!
I have to say, I am not completely confident about modifying extended ROMs, otherwise I might go for the imate ROM, but remove backgammon, skype, and the virus checker if that was the best option?
What do you guys think?

Someone must have an opinion? There must be someone who has jumped from Orange to T-Mobile recently, with the unlimited data plans?

donnot install t-mobile extended ROM because then it gives errors. Just install Complete iMate (Rom + Extended Rom + Radio) version that is the best way to do it and also u can cancel extended rom if u want during installation and with Buzz's Unlock extended rom u can then unhide the extended ROM and then u can delete files which u donnot need and then Autorun. In this way u can have some free space in extended rom to install things : Best choice is for me because of its satbility and speed :
Complete installation of iMate

Problem is with the imate ROM you are missing lots of settings which are req'd for using T-Mobile (e.g. MMS).
You could as well install the very latest T-Mobile ROM (1.30.113 released today in German, guess English will come VERY shortly). Supposedly it's not noticably slower than the Qtek ROM.
Or you go with the iMate ROM without any Extrom and take John Does ultimative T-Mobile Cab: http://www.ppc-welt.tv/community/showpost.php?p=649264&postcount=27
This gives you all T-Mobile settings plus a little tweaking and some extra stuff.

Who made the rom

Hi,
Could you tell me if roms ( I am not talking about the extended rom) are the same on the different brands for same PPCs with same language ?
Just want to know this to see if I need only to install the extended rom of another brand on my Compact to test this rom (as I want to test the imate jam rom).
Thanks
afaik radio & os roms are the same.
They are developed by HTC themselves
To be sure you can check the version & build numbers (build number van only bee checked when installed . . .)
thanks edsub. So if understand to test an imate rom on my mda I need only to to do an hard-reset, then a soft rest before the extended rom installation and then to install manually all the .cab from the imate extended rom ?

1.40 iMate ROM and XDA2s

Hi all, my new BA arrived finally! I have decided to keep it afterall. I am a total n00b at this stuff, and really struggle to understand the Wiki site. However, I did manage to download XDA tools and backup my ROM.
I then downloaded the PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200 ROM from the FTP site. It said it was going to update my Radio and Ext. ROM too. Anyhow, it comes up with the country code error.
I added that line of script into the file but it still has the error. Any ideas? I thought the iMate 1.40 ROM was supposed to work on the XDA2s.
I really want a more stable device. Are there any other ways to do this? I tried using XDA Tools to upload the NK part of the iMate ROM separately, but it said it needed to be an exact size to work.
What is the best ROM? We couldn't even figure out how to cook and Ext. ROM so if anyone could give me a hand it would be much appreciated. The Wiki assumes you know what you're doing but I really have no idea.
Cheers guys - Mike x
You don't need to use XDA Tools it you're using a standard manufacturers ROM, just the No ID program for the device ID shortcut.
I had to add the country code ID in too, but after that it was golden. Not sure what's up with you...
Chris
If you are on O2 UK and want the imate ROM that also has O2 settings for GPRS, MMS etc, have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=24000&highlight=
It's a set of instructions that I made using the wiki, as well as info other members had given me, particularly mdaIIIuser to upgrade a UK O2 XDA IIs to the imate 1.40 without having to enter GPRS settings etc manually afterwards, and still keeping the country code to O2 (which means you can use an official O2 upgrade later , without any problems, if they ever get their arses in gear!)
If you need any more help, let me know and I'll do what I can. If you have an ftp site you want me to upload my upgrade files to, PM me with the details and I'll send it you. I'd put in on the ftp here, but i don't think it's worth taking up so much space with a customised ROM.
HTH,
Fin
OK guys, I managed to upgrade my device to the latest iMate ROM, and the 1.13 radio ROM
Problem now is cooking my Ext. ROM. I know I can't update the Ext. ROM that came with the iMate ROM. I want to put my 02 settings in, but I really don't know how. It won't let me put my old 02 image back on the phone, it says the USB is not connected properly
Does anyone have the .nb1 of the 02 Ext. ROM?
Sack that. I downloaded the newest 02 Rom I could find and extracted just the ext. Rom file from the .exe
I am learning
which o2 rom did you use? if it was the uk rom you will have problems as it is 1.31 and your rom is 1.40. you need to unlock the extended rom and copy the base rom 1.40*147 then add your o2 cabs and anything else
hth

Hey thanks Findus, your guide was great.
Yea, I put the 02 1.3 extended ROM on. I didn't know what else to do.
Do you mean the base extended ROM of the iMate 1.40 ROM I put on? I tried that, and there is no Config.txt in the iMate extended ROM.
Sorry, I don't understand this too well

I did not do anything with upgradetools.rar but the device seems to be working fine. I haven't made a call yet as I'm cut off. Does this mean I don't have to do it?

Glad to have helped, although I can't take credit, I got all the info from thw wiki and other posts!
Have just been trying to upload my Extended ROM, it is a modified version of Cooked ERK 1.4x Base that can be found in the wiki under ERK 1.40 . This version of the EXT ROM does have a config.txt, you were probably looking at 1.40.176? All I did was add the 6/7 O2 CABS to the config.txt of the base rom, then changed the caller id cab to 1.20 from the link below:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Caller ID/IA_CallerID_1.20_WWE.CAB
You will probably have some problems with the Ext ROM you have on at the moment, because you haven't got any of the patches for 1.40 which might mean GPRS etc might be unstable.
I will try and upload my Ext ROM again later if you want, all you will need to do is unlock your ext rom, delete the files, and copy over the new files. DO a hard reset and you're away!
Good luck!
Fin
OK, I don't understand.
I just delete all the files (aside from the 02 setup ones) of my current ROM and put these ones in? I don't need to upgrade the Ext. ROM bith the BAUpdate thing?
No, you won't use the BA Upgrade itility- that is for reflashing, which if you had a ms_.nbf file(extended ROM installation file) you would need. There is no tool to edit ms_.nbf files on Blue Angel, instead you have to unlock the Ext ROM manually, copy/delete files, update the config.txt then do a hard reset. Takes some getting used to- I was used to using er2003edit with my Himalaya to make a custom ms_.nbf file, but hey, this method works too!
Good luck,
Fin
Hey man, I already did it! Well good! It's based on the Qtek ROM you reccommended with the o2 stuff added in and the caller ID updated.
now running:
ROM version: iMate 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10.05
Radio version: 1.13,00
Protocal version: 1337.42
ExtROM: 1.40.147 based on the Qtek cooked for use on 02 UK
My phone hasn't required a single hard reset all day and is still recieving calls (with sound) and messages
Thanks everyone!

Hi
I am about to get an XDAIIs to replace my falling apart PDA2K.
I want to use it on Vodafone.
Is there a real 'idiots' guide to putting the latest and greatest ROM onto the XDAIIs.
(I really do mean idiots guide by the way).
Cheers.

o2 Exec ROM Now Available...

O2 Site Update with Exec ROM :
http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft.html
Is this a new ROM or O2 providing it as a download to fix peoples devices when they corrupt them?
well spotted a18041967!!!
Upload to XDA FTP server
Can an O2 user upload this rom to the xda-developers server please?
It's the initial release ROM, so it's the same as the one all XDA Execs are being shipped with.
It has (I checked):
OS 1.13.48 WWE (Older than Jasjar, which is 1.13.53)
Extended 1.13.139
Radio 1.04.02 (same as Dopod, was already on FTP)
you can enter any imei
do you think if i have the jas jar rom installed i will be able to override it with the exec rom
sure ... just use the patched exe for upgrade.
i'm thinking of using ROM from jasjar, ExtRom from O2 and the radio from O2
can someone tell us what's installed on the O2 exec by default ?
is it better or worse than the JasJar ?
The only thing that really is different from the Jasjar rom is the O2 Active UI, and we all know that is very unstable.
Most Exec users end up using basic or corporate install, which is comparable to pressing the reset button after a hard reset and thus bypassing the extended rom setup.
I did no different then anyone else in that matter. I selected basic install. The Jasjar OS also is a tad newer, so unless you are a sucker for the O2 layout and style, I'd say stick with the Jasjar.
(I'm a sucker for the O2 styling so I will probably end up combining the Jasjar OS and the O2 ExtRom ;-))
Just be aware: The Jasjar Extended rom will set your boot logo to the I-Mate one, the O2 Extended rom will NOT set it to the O2 one! It does not contain splash.nb files!
How to Update radio only to 1.04?

Just rename it to zip, extract it, delete ms_.nbf and nk.nbf (the only NBF file you need to leave is radio.nbf), use the MAUpgrade_NoID.exe file and flash your radio. You will not even lose your settings or installed programs
Ok, here's my findings so far, I took delivery of my XDA Exec and all was OK, foolishly I decided to upgrade to the Imate ROM.
After the upgrade I experienced continual problems connecting to my WiFi, and was unable to get the Wireless modem to work.
Today I reverted back to the o2 ROM, both the WiFi & Modem issues have been resolved.

Wiz,
I have the MDA PRO with JasJar ROM I have just upgraded to the Radio Version 1.04.02. Everything is fine. Now I have a QUestion:
If I hard reset my device and bypass the Extended ROM install does it mean tha my Boot screen will not become the one from imate ??. I thought the splash.nb files are in the ROM and not in the Extended ROM. I have tryed to find the Boot Screen image in the cab files of the JasJar Extende ROM and I can not find anything?
Any Ideas

Extended ROMs for T-Mobile MDA Pro

Hi,
Sorry for the more than likely, stupid question, but what exactly does the Extended ROM do? Am I right in thinking its just the additional settings that the providor wants to add, customise... etc...
The reason I ask is I have a T-Mobile MDA Pro, which I've upgraded the Radio from 1.06.00 to 1.11.00, and noticed great differences.
I've upgraded the CE Image to 1.30.77 with the lates QTek WWE Rom, again, it's solved problems...
But should I upgrade the Extended ROM to 1.30.230? Or stick with T-Mobile's 1.20.120? Will I notice any benefits, or will I just lose T-Mobile's customisations, gain some which are of no benefit, and muck up me phone???
Regards!!
Dave.
Did you manage to get any software out of T-Mobile UK?

There's two official T-Mobile ROMs for the MDA Pro, the latest being available on the T-Mobile site, and also on this FTP
Regards
Hi
I uploaded the latest T-Mobile extended rom to FTP a while ago. I have installed the QTEK ext rom (well, most of it), and then I run the T-Mobile cabs to add accounts for MMS etc etc.
Just hard reset the device and then do a soft reset before the extended rom installs, then cherry-pick the bits of the ext rom that you wish to install.
From QTEK:
MP-Shorcut-MMS1-Java5xx-CyberonVoice-CV-0512
MP_CVSDcpl_20060216.cab
MP_EnableDRM_UAProfile_Universal_AKU2.0_0512
MP_Enable_VT_RTPlugin_0727_2_signed.CAB
MP_mHub_WWE_051226.CAB
PP_ECall(112-911)_UNI.CAB
PT_UAProf_UNI.CAB
From Tmob
CAB-Customization-TMUK-Universal-01-05-16NOV
Signed_UNI_TMO_Connection_112100.CAB
Seems to work fine. There are some explanations of what does what in other threads scattered about these forums.

What’s in P3600i ? (Also called CHT9110 or D810x)

What’s in P3600i ? (Also called CHT9110 or D810x)
Recently I bought a new Trinity~CHT9110 that is known
as P3600i or D810x in other countries.
The WM6 ROM of my new Trinity is in Chinese Traditional Version.
The hardware differences between P3600 and P3600i are
CPU 400Mhz upgraded to 500Mhz and storage memory
128MB upgraded to 256MB. ( Please see cap01)
I post what I found with P3600i in these days and
hope every body provides what they found as well
so that we can gather enough information to deal
with P3600i.
1) We can’t use any non-official ROM update utilities
to flash P3600i :
The Hard-SPL, CID unlocker, SSPL-TRIN or any other
update utilities couldn’t work for P3600i.
I tried to down grade to WM5 ROM, and it also failed
at 1%. I hope somebody can work out a new patch
that works..
2) Currently the only way to upgrade the Radio
ROM of P3600i to 1.50.08.11:
Originally the radio version of P3600i is
1.46.00.11
32.79.7020.19H
The radio update utility couldn’t work, either.
So currently the only way for us to upgrade to
1.50.08.11
32.83.7020.20H
is to download official upgrade ROM that is with
new radio version.
The latest official WM6 Chinese Traditional version
has updated to radio 1.50.08.11. So I can update
my new Trinity by flashing the entire official ROM.
(Please see cap02)
3) P3600 and P3600i use the same WM6 ROM:
In fact, the latest official WM6 ROM mentioned above
is released for CHT9100 (or P3600, D810) in HTC’s
web site.
I use this ROM to flash CHT9110 (or P3600i, D810x)
and it works perfectly without any error.
So we get a conclusion that the WM6 ROM released
for P3600 is the same as that used in P3600i.
4) The Extended ROM of CHT9110 (or P3600i,
D810x) has write-back design:
I found a way to mount the Extended ROM and
delete all the files in it. Just follow the two steps:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / StorageManger / Profiles / EXT_FLASHDRV /
----> Modify the value of MountHidden from “1” to “0”.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / StorageManger / Profiles / EXT_FLASHDRV / FATFS /
----> Modify the value of EnableCache from “0” to “1”.
Please see cap03. The Extended ROM is totally 9.94MB,
7.51MB in use and 2.43MB free. You can view all the
Extended ROM files in cap04.
After modify the registry, you can delete all the files
in the Extended ROM. If you occur the “ Action Failed”
notification, just try again and then the Extended ROM
becomes 0 MB in use.
(Please see cap05)
You can also try copying some files into the
Extended ROM.
But after a soft reset, the files you put into
Extended ROM disappeared and the original files
of Extended ROM are all written back to it.
5) There is one more different file in CHT9110’s
Extended Rom than CHT9100’s.
PT_Enable_WCC.cab
----> I don’t know what’s the usage of this file
This is very useful information. Can I ask you please where can I find the updated ROM you have mentioned, with the new radio??
---quoted

has updated to radio 1.50.08.11. So I can update

Does this also mean that the wm6voip.cab wont run on the P3600i?
can you upload the full official p3600i ROM with radio version 1.50 to rapidshare?
also, can you test cpu usage when using stylus, on P3600 there is some issue with this, for example when you play some games and use stylus to navigate frame rate drops considerably, I'm just courious if this has been fixed..
yeah I want to know too
from teh HTC web site I can't find the ROM you mentioned above

I found a method that works currently to download
official WM6 ROM of different languages from HTC’s
website.
I guess HTC might close the download access if they
find the leakage mentioned below.
First, go to the HTC’s worldwide website:
http://www.htc.com/
Select the Region & Language you prefer.
Try to join the membership for free~ choose the way
that doesn’t need any purchased device s/n number.
For example, you select Australia-English.
Choose “Service & Support” --> “Download Now”
--> “Join Now, Go”
Then complete the Join Member Process.
If you choose Hong Kong-繁中(Hong Kong- Chinese Traditional)
or Taiwan-繁中(Taiwan-Chinese Traditional),
just choose “會員專區”(Member District)
--> “加入會員”(Join Membership)
Second, go to the official WM6 download website:
http://hsc.asia.htc.com/e-club/download/login.aspx
Select the language and region you’ve just join a membership.
Then you can see the latest WM6 ROM of that language.
HTC provides this rapid download website to customers
due to that the official websites often got stuck when
the WM6 first released in July.
You can join the membership in the www.htc.com website
then go to this rapid download website to log in and enjoy.
I have log in all the different regions and languages that HTC provided.
Only the Taiwan (Chinese) version has the latest radio
ROM of 1.50.08.11.
As you can see in the shortcuts below.
I wonder if you can use the Taiwan (Chinese) version
since you might not buy the CHT9110 in Taiwan.
Please note that the Hard-SPL, CID unlocker or SSPL-TRIN couldn’t work for P3600i.
Please also note that all the wm6 roms are for d810, p3600 or cht9100.
But until now I can get the cht9100 wm6 rom work perfectly for my cht9110,
nice exploit!!!
here is the direct link to the firmware...
http://210.64.124.194/download/CHT9100_TWN_WM6_Upgrade_20070705.zip
Thks for information, I got CHT9110, and have up to latest ROM, but any one can help that I need to flash to WWE (ebglish) Rom, as mention above Hard SPL,CID unlock or any other utility I search and found here can not help to change the rome to English..waiting for help.

For people who are currently using CHT9100, P3600 or D810,
I suggest them to keep using~
it's not very necessary to change from CHT9100 to CHT9110.
But if you are planning to buy Trinity
or your Trinity is broken or got lost,
you are suggested to buy CHT9110
for the following two reasons.
1) CPU speed is promoted by 25%~comparing under the same brand.
2) The flash ROM is doubled~total 256MB, about 168MB available for storage.
That means you don't have to worry about
not enough space for installing progarms in the future.
4) The Extended ROM of CHT9110 (or P3600i,
D810x) has write-back design:

Any ideas on how to flash the extended rom?
I'm guessing that we'd need to complie a new NBH with the desired programs.
I'm using 3600i , and waiting for cooking rom

wow, I got it now. and may consider updating it next time when my system hanged. I just got my HK version P3600i one month ago, and in satisfactory performance. Just see if it is worth the while updating the Radio. But will see.
Thank you very much for this leak....
I can get that rom for taiwan site too
thanks
but I dare not flash it as I want to backup the existing rom first.....
there's no method to backup the rom yet.......
I will keep noticing if someone works out the solution for us. I 'll post it here once the solution come out.
