1.40 iMate ROM and XDA2s - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hi all, my new BA arrived finally! I have decided to keep it afterall. I am a total n00b at this stuff, and really struggle to understand the Wiki site. However, I did manage to download XDA tools and backup my ROM.
I then downloaded the PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200 ROM from the FTP site. It said it was going to update my Radio and Ext. ROM too. Anyhow, it comes up with the country code error.
I added that line of script into the file but it still has the error. Any ideas? I thought the iMate 1.40 ROM was supposed to work on the XDA2s.
I really want a more stable device. Are there any other ways to do this? I tried using XDA Tools to upload the NK part of the iMate ROM separately, but it said it needed to be an exact size to work.
What is the best ROM? We couldn't even figure out how to cook and Ext. ROM so if anyone could give me a hand it would be much appreciated. The Wiki assumes you know what you're doing but I really have no idea.
Cheers guys - Mike x

You don't need to use XDA Tools it you're using a standard manufacturers ROM, just the No ID program for the device ID shortcut.
I had to add the country code ID in too, but after that it was golden. Not sure what's up with you...
Chris

If you are on O2 UK and want the imate ROM that also has O2 settings for GPRS, MMS etc, have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=24000&highlight=
It's a set of instructions that I made using the wiki, as well as info other members had given me, particularly mdaIIIuser to upgrade a UK O2 XDA IIs to the imate 1.40 without having to enter GPRS settings etc manually afterwards, and still keeping the country code to O2 (which means you can use an official O2 upgrade later , without any problems, if they ever get their arses in gear!)
If you need any more help, let me know and I'll do what I can. If you have an ftp site you want me to upload my upgrade files to, PM me with the details and I'll send it you. I'd put in on the ftp here, but i don't think it's worth taking up so much space with a customised ROM.
HTH,
Fin

OK guys, I managed to upgrade my device to the latest iMate ROM, and the 1.13 radio ROM
Problem now is cooking my Ext. ROM. I know I can't update the Ext. ROM that came with the iMate ROM. I want to put my 02 settings in, but I really don't know how. It won't let me put my old 02 image back on the phone, it says the USB is not connected properly
Does anyone have the .nb1 of the 02 Ext. ROM?

Sack that. I downloaded the newest 02 Rom I could find and extracted just the ext. Rom file from the .exe
I am learning

which o2 rom did you use? if it was the uk rom you will have problems as it is 1.31 and your rom is 1.40. you need to unlock the extended rom and copy the base rom 1.40*147 then add your o2 cabs and anything else
hth

Hey thanks Findus, your guide was great.
Yea, I put the 02 1.3 extended ROM on. I didn't know what else to do.
Do you mean the base extended ROM of the iMate 1.40 ROM I put on? I tried that, and there is no Config.txt in the iMate extended ROM.
Sorry, I don't understand this too well

I did not do anything with upgradetools.rar but the device seems to be working fine. I haven't made a call yet as I'm cut off. Does this mean I don't have to do it?

Glad to have helped, although I can't take credit, I got all the info from thw wiki and other posts!
Have just been trying to upload my Extended ROM, it is a modified version of Cooked ERK 1.4x Base that can be found in the wiki under ERK 1.40 . This version of the EXT ROM does have a config.txt, you were probably looking at 1.40.176? All I did was add the 6/7 O2 CABS to the config.txt of the base rom, then changed the caller id cab to 1.20 from the link below:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Caller ID/IA_CallerID_1.20_WWE.CAB
You will probably have some problems with the Ext ROM you have on at the moment, because you haven't got any of the patches for 1.40 which might mean GPRS etc might be unstable.
I will try and upload my Ext ROM again later if you want, all you will need to do is unlock your ext rom, delete the files, and copy over the new files. DO a hard reset and you're away!
Good luck!
Fin

OK, I don't understand.
I just delete all the files (aside from the 02 setup ones) of my current ROM and put these ones in? I don't need to upgrade the Ext. ROM bith the BAUpdate thing?

No, you won't use the BA Upgrade itility- that is for reflashing, which if you had a ms_.nbf file(extended ROM installation file) you would need. There is no tool to edit ms_.nbf files on Blue Angel, instead you have to unlock the Ext ROM manually, copy/delete files, update the config.txt then do a hard reset. Takes some getting used to- I was used to using er2003edit with my Himalaya to make a custom ms_.nbf file, but hey, this method works too!
Good luck,
Fin

Hey man, I already did it! Well good! It's based on the Qtek ROM you reccommended with the o2 stuff added in and the caller ID updated.
now running:
ROM version: iMate 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10.05
Radio version: 1.13,00
Protocal version: 1337.42
ExtROM: 1.40.147 based on the Qtek cooked for use on 02 UK
My phone hasn't required a single hard reset all day and is still recieving calls (with sound) and messages
Thanks everyone!
-Mike

Hi
I am about to get an XDAIIs to replace my falling apart PDA2K.
I want to use it on Vodafone.
Is there a real 'idiots' guide to putting the latest and greatest ROM onto the XDAIIs.
(I really do mean idiots guide by the way).
Cheers.

02 XDAII Extended ROM - WM2003SE

I upgraded to WM2003SE a while back and at the time had an Orange SIM in my XDAII and my 02 SIM in my E200 Smartphone. The extended ROM I used was Orange specific and contained all the necessary GPRS Configs etc
Anyways, I've now got a C500 with my Orange SIM in it and so the 02 Sim is back in my XDAII and I'm looking for a good External Rom dump that contains the UK 02 GPRS/WAP/MMS Configs etc and is compatible with WM2003SE.
Can anyone point me in the direction of one, I have looked and tried one or two but none have the correct configs for 02's GPRS service (Pay monthly not PAYG).
TIA
Did you get anywhere with this, Darren? I'm just wondering whether to upgrade my O2 XDAII to WM2003SE but the lack of dedicated O2 Ext.rom files (as far as I can tell) is putting me off.
I didn't but don't let that stop you, the SE upgrade is well worth it. I just removed all the O2 specific rubbish from the Ext ROM and it's fine.
Thanks for the reply.
I'd love to upgrade but without the O2 auto-config software in the ExtROM I wouldn't have a clue where to start configuring all the network, SMS, MMS etc settings for O2 pay monthly. Do you know of a guide or something somewhere?
Secondly, I searched earlier to try and find out which was the best ROM to use for those of us in the UK, but there didn't seem to be a definitive answer. Would you mind telling me which ROM you used and where you got it from if you're happy with it? I need Bluetooth headset, BT GPS, BT ActiveSync, speakerphone to work perfectly to consider upgrading. Currently my XDAII works like a charm with ROM 1.72 but some people seem to have had trouble with the SE upgrade and Bluetooth.
Thanks a bunch in advance.
I use all those BT functions alos, I used the 2.02 ROM available at the beginning of this thread.
I've left the auto config files in the Ext ROM so there is no need to manually configure anything. I have had zero issues with it since the upgrade I'm happy to upload my Ext ROM to an FTP if you want it?
The only critical noe I found was to remove the 'TPDisable' entry in the Ext ROM when performing the upgrade as you receive a lot of 'This isn't designed for WM2003SE' messages and with TPDisable enbled you can't click OK!

Forgive me if I'm being a bit fick, but I can't see where you mean. Have you a ROM available through your pocketgpsworld.com website? Or is there only one 2.02 ROM available and I can download it from this site's FTP? I thought the 2.02 ROM was the Chinese one.

I didn't know it was possible to upgrade the OS ROM without touching the ExtROM. I'm not a noob with the XDAII, but I've found the myriad threads and discussions on the question of 2003SE upgrades very confusing! Since there seems to be no obvious single solution I haven't known where to start.
If you have a working ExtROM for the XDAII on O2 UK and you wouldn't mind uploading it somewhere (this site?) I'd be very grateful. If you wouldn't mind pointing me to the main OS ROM image that you used as well then that'd be groovy too.

I guess that's achieved by editing the config file in the ExtROM once it's all installed after an upgrade?
Sorry, I thought this was the original WM2003SE thread! The download I used is at the beginning of this thread.
It's a while since I upgraded mine, I had thought the Ext ROM remained intact but reading the thread instructions apparently not. Sorry I can't help more but as I say it's some months sisnce I did it!
Aaah. OK. Thanks again, but I think I'll leave it in that case. I don't yet feel brave enough to start messing about with home-cooked ExtROMs if you don't have yours handy. It was good of you to offer though.

I copied the new M2000 rom 1.31.124 WWE

I know you were all crying out for it, so i took 5 mins and uploaded it.
Let me know if ive done it right!!
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Extended_Roms/Orange_UK_SPVM2000_Ext_ROM_131124.zip
Operator version 5.31.1.124
ROM Version 1.31.00 WWE
ROM Date 12/13/04
Radio Version 1.06.02
Protocol 1337.38
ExtROM Version 1.31.124 WWE
I have tried to perform Rom update from your link.... I get the File cannot be skipped. The file :"\Windows\IA_P_DspCID.dll" must be copied for the application to work correctly. Try copying again ?....
I have tried to copy but nothing happens..
Gazz
Whats the BT Stack Version.Build in this ROM??
Hi Blackhorse,
Thanks for doing that.
Does your download include all the roms? - operatior, rom, external, radio, bluetooth etc?
If not, any chance of uploading the others?
Sorry if this is a dumb question - i've not down any rom upgrades yet so I dont know what's in there - i'm just looking at the version numbers on mine and the ones posted here!
Thanks

How can I reload the OS on Orange SPV M2000
I have erased all data with a ROM or Firmware upgrade and now need to reload it. Plrase advise
It looks like this is just the extended ROM, eg, the apps and customizations from Orange which are only installed when you hard reset your phone. This update only really applies to people who are Orange/M2000 users or people that can "cook" their own extended ROM.
If you need insturctions on how to install this, then search the forums for "Extended ROM Unlocking" or visit the recently updated ROM Kitchen via the links in http://wiki.xda-developers.com/.
Hope this helps,
Dom

o2 Exec ROM Now Available...

O2 Site Update with Exec ROM :
http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft.html
Is this a new ROM or O2 providing it as a download to fix peoples devices when they corrupt them?
well spotted a18041967!!!
Upload to XDA FTP server
Can an O2 user upload this rom to the xda-developers server please?
It's the initial release ROM, so it's the same as the one all XDA Execs are being shipped with.
It has (I checked):
OS 1.13.48 WWE (Older than Jasjar, which is 1.13.53)
Extended 1.13.139
Radio 1.04.02 (same as Dopod, was already on FTP)
you can enter any imei
do you think if i have the jas jar rom installed i will be able to override it with the exec rom
sure ... just use the patched exe for upgrade.
i'm thinking of using ROM from jasjar, ExtRom from O2 and the radio from O2
can someone tell us what's installed on the O2 exec by default ?
is it better or worse than the JasJar ?
The only thing that really is different from the Jasjar rom is the O2 Active UI, and we all know that is very unstable.
Most Exec users end up using basic or corporate install, which is comparable to pressing the reset button after a hard reset and thus bypassing the extended rom setup.
I did no different then anyone else in that matter. I selected basic install. The Jasjar OS also is a tad newer, so unless you are a sucker for the O2 layout and style, I'd say stick with the Jasjar.
(I'm a sucker for the O2 styling so I will probably end up combining the Jasjar OS and the O2 ExtRom ;-))
Just be aware: The Jasjar Extended rom will set your boot logo to the I-Mate one, the O2 Extended rom will NOT set it to the O2 one! It does not contain splash.nb files!
How to Update radio only to 1.04?

Just rename it to zip, extract it, delete ms_.nbf and nk.nbf (the only NBF file you need to leave is radio.nbf), use the MAUpgrade_NoID.exe file and flash your radio. You will not even lose your settings or installed programs
Ok, here's my findings so far, I took delivery of my XDA Exec and all was OK, foolishly I decided to upgrade to the Imate ROM.
After the upgrade I experienced continual problems connecting to my WiFi, and was unable to get the Wireless modem to work.
Today I reverted back to the o2 ROM, both the WiFi & Modem issues have been resolved.

Wiz,
I have the MDA PRO with JasJar ROM I have just upgraded to the Radio Version 1.04.02. Everything is fine. Now I have a QUestion:
If I hard reset my device and bypass the Extended ROM install does it mean tha my Boot screen will not become the one from imate ??. I thought the splash.nb files are in the ROM and not in the Extended ROM. I have tryed to find the Boot Screen image in the cab files of the JasJar Extende ROM and I can not find anything?
Any Ideas

Vodafone VPX rom wanted

I've had a look around the FTP but to no avail.
Is there a WWE VPX rom around anywhere, or a link to download one from the voda site? I've tried looking but not found one yet.
Device is PH20B currently on 1.42, 1.13 and O2 ext rom from their latest release.
looking for the same thing for months, no luck either
Is it possible to steal the theme then from the VPA ROM? The cool red and silver one.
What I have done is use the T-Mob 1.42 ROM with the VPA Ext Rom.
The main language was english, but anything that was installed by the ext rom became german - so not much use to me.
yep
did the same thing, does not work well
Lordao
Here you go guys, The Vodafone theme
I've got a German VPX rom. As I'm a lazy muppet can anyone host this for me / walk me through uploading it to the FTP? It's no longer on their site.
Richard
I'm searching for the newst ROM file for the Vodafone VPx..
Rightnow I have
Rom version: 1.22.00 WWE
Rome Date: 10/22/04
Radio version: 1.06.00
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtROM version: 1.22.155 WWE
I assume it's too old ROM, Where to find the new one?
Should the one for PDA2K or Qtek9090 ROM work on my device??
Waiting for reply
Vodafone WWE Ext ROM..
Downloaded the Vodafone skin posted above, thanks
However does anyone have the UK Vodafone Ext ROM, or even a WWE one from somewhere else? I assume the company specific Ext ROM adds different functionality other than a skin...
Aim is to use most current ROM/Radio on O2 XDA IIs with a vodafone Ext ROM as I'll be using a Vodafone SIM... noticed a German Ext ROM for Vodafone VPAIII dated 140206 on the FTP site, can this be switched to English, and is it compatible with the O2 XDAIIs etc.?
Well a search gave me this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46603&highlight=voda*
The rom is old and not in the wiki list due to the fact nobody cared to add it even though its no the ftp site.
hmmm...

Yip, been there, seen that, but I dont kow how to extract the ext rom stuff from the .exe
So I did search, I did read, but I didn't know what the next step was, hence the reason for asking someone to upload an ext rom to the kitchen other than the GER versions...
OK, went back to the WIKI and now realise that all I need is the ms_.nbf file from the WWE version mentioned above   The question now is, how can I install that with a 1.40/1.42 ROM?
Well you don't
The Ext rom conmsits of apps and patches that are made for a rom version.
The apps are no problem the patches are as they will over write the files that have most likely been updated in the new rom.
(As in BT stack in 1.22 ships as 1.xx in the rom,
got updated to 1.xy in the ext rom
and the rom 1.40 its now 1.yy.
Run the ext rom then you are back to 1.xy)
So if you want to have the same carrier related stuff on a none same carrier rom then you save the cabs of the ext rom before you upgrade.
As for the vodaphone thing, well we have had no ship roms in the 1.4x family and no wwe ext roms uploaded. So what ever you want to do you have yourself.
BA kitchen goes into that in more detail I know as I wrote it.
Almost there... (Thanks to the Wiki & Forum)!
OK, finally took the plunge...
O2 XDAIIs arrived yesterday, Rom 1.31... updated straight away to the O2 update from there site (available on this site Xda_IIs_Upgrade_v140242.exe) and all went well... I then added a Vodafone skin but that wasn't really good enough It meant I still had the O2 Active gubbins all over my PDA which is of course no use...
Long night ahead I thought... and I was right
I now have the 1.42 CE ROM with the 1.15 Radio ROM and a cooked version of the Vodafone German EXT_ROM with many of the items replaced with the most current items from the Kitchen!
I still have a few niggles... double entries of files etc such as Windows media player, album etc (1 GER, 1 WWE) but the GER ones crap out and the WWE ones work... all I need to do now is work out which bits are installed by what in the original stuff and I should be able to sort it...
I have one request... could someone please post the UK Vodaphone version of the CAB which sets up the Vodafone Live! stuff? my vodafone live is all screwed up and looking for German stuff...
I will keep you informed in a new thread as to how my continued conversion goes!
Thanks to all who have updated the forum/Wiki it has been no end of help and I have a hybrid set of roms, with a cooked ext_rom and fully functional WiFi/BT/GPRS/MMS witin 24 hrs of receiving my XDA and taking the plunge... major kudos to you all!
As MDAUSERIII says... read the Wiki, and all will become clear!
Try this http://www.vodafone-dataworld.co.uk/uploads/BA_VF_UK_14000_238_11300_Ship.exe
Nice link
How did you get to that file so I can post it to wiki.
Where'd you find that!?!?!

Awesome link! D/Ling just now... then reflash (again!)
I'm now in a bit of a quandry... having finally got a data enabled device (BA as opposed to my mobile and Palm T3) I am now looking to use my data services more, but I have looked around for the best deals (I use PAYG) and it looks to be between O2 and Orange... the price of data on Vodafone is just too damned high...
I'l load this up and see how it goes first... thanks for your help

HELP: INSTALL QTEK ROM ON O2 EXEC - HOW????

i made : light power reset but it tell me erorr country id
why?
use the MaUpgrade_noID.exe to start the upgrade. It is available from the ftp section of this site. I did this yesterday and it worked first time
Hi Weasel, what do you think of the Qtek ROM? I recently changed from the O2 ROM to the Imate version, would be interested to know what you think are the Pros and Cons of your latest ROM?
Thanks
Phil
Hi
I have just gone through the update process (to UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe) with my xda exec as I was on the latest o2 rom and I followed the instructions here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...tion On How To Upgrade with Bootloader method
The bit I hadn't picked up before was the .nbf files have to be in the same directory as the rest of the update and MaUpgradeUt_noID - I deleted the radio version witin the folder (radio_.nbf_) and then pasted in the 1.0.9 one which I downloaded speratly - hit MaUpgradeUt_noID and everything completed within 30 mins or so.
The xda is like a new machine compared to the old o2 rom I was on as it's soooo much quicker.
Oh i was worried about not having my o2 settings but if you download this cab file and run this cab[/url after you have finished setting it up on qtek rom you get all your setting back for o2 (choose basic when using cab not corporate as that doesn't seem to work!
Hi Andy, what do you think of the Qtek ROM? I recently changed from the O2 ROM to the iMate version, would be interested to know what you think are the Pros and Cons of your latest ROM?
sorry for the delay in responding:
My first impressions of the QTEK ROM were fine but.... on Sunday, the phone just stopped working completely - no signal etc. Hard reset was required to get it working again. I've disabled error reporting and will load my software back on later today.
