Just a heads up. There appears to be an issue with the new QTEK rom (at least, I never experienced this before upgrading).
Create an email account, soft reset. Delete that email account, then soft reset again - result is that the old deleted account rises from the dead.
If, after doing the above you then delete the account, create a new account and then soft reset then the original account rises from the dead and the new account is deleted.
Unfortunately this issue makes the latest rom unusable for me.
Anyone know where the info about email accounts gets stored. I wanna trash it properly to stop it coming back.

Delete the files in your pop3 inbox, goto tools, empty deleted items. Do a send/recieve to delete them from pop3 server.
Now soft reset - all the ruddy deleted emails come back as well!!

Time for **another** hard reset and **another** wasted ~2hrs setting the ruddy thing up again. Wish I had stuck with my old rom.

his happened to me after a backup and restore of my device. There is one thing you can do to fix it, download SPB backup (that is what I use), and back up the device. Do a hard reset and clear all your information. Adjust the date and time and do a partial restore without your email information. This should remedy the problem.

Almost every morning (I turn off my Dash everynight) one of my emails accounts (IMAP4) disappear from the list of my email accounts.
Then I set up the account again but had to use a different account name because when I tried to use the original account name I got an error message telling me that that name already exists.
I found this utility on the web that is suppose to fix the issue (http://nicolasmauri.blogspot.com/20...-lost-mail.html) but I don't want to run it everyday plus: "The account will be visible again in Outlook and you will have to set the input and output server because they will be empty."
Any idea on how to fix this issue?
The other accounts (POP, Hotmail) are fine, only IMAP keep disappearing.
P.S. I just switched from MDA to Dash and never had this problem with MDA (well only when I reset the phone)
Did you use Sprite Backup by chance? Or maybe some other backup/restore utility? That sounds suspiciously like the problems that occur when you do an 'upgrade' restore in Sprite without first deleting the e-mail/gprs accounts.
I did use Sprite Backup. I'll try to Hard Reset and reinstall the apps. I'll let you know how it goes...
Hi, recently i've been experiencing problems with my o2 orbit.
Every so often i loose all the messages in my inbox for SMS messages and my Hotmail email account.
I then try to recheck my hotmail account via wifi and it just goes through the motions and says finished. My inbox remains empty but when i go and check on my pc there are anywhere between 5 and 15 emails waiting to be read.
At the same time i also loose all my text messages from my inbox. I can receive new messages as normal.
When i soft reset all is well again and i can download all my new mail.
Does anyone know of another solution other than to soft reset my xda?

in my artemis, a few weeks ago, i have experienced the same problem: the text messages folder was not found.
only a hard reset as resolved the problem.
try the next:
a) save all your data via a backup program (sprite backup or spb backup)
b) execute a hard reset
c) restore all previously saved data EXCEPT the email data (is an option in spb backup, but i don't not if available in sprite backup)
the problem is a corruption in the \cemail file. but the cemail file is a system file, and cannot be pverwrite directly.

I am using Wisbar Advanced Desktop and have a meter on the today screen counting the number of unread emails and SMS's in each of the accounts.
Apparently this is know to be buggy and delete messages from time to time. Anyway i have disabled the two text meters and so far so good.
Hello! I am having a bit of trouble with email accounts. They show up in Manila but not the Messages app. They consist of 1 Yahoo and 2 Gmail. This problem started when I added my Hotmail. I cannot remove the troubling accounts because they only show up in Manila, not account settings. Do you think removing the Hotmail would solve this issue? If so, how do I remove it? I suppose a hard reset is an option because I have my stuff backed up on MS My Phone and I've been thinking about flashing EnergyROM anyway, but preferably not. I have attached screenshots so you can see it. Thank you for all help and have a great holiday season!

I've upgraded my account to Gmail and now need to change the phone as it's not receiving emails due to being set to my old googlemail.com domain. Is there any way of doing this without having to hard reset the unit?
I know I can add it as a 2nd account but that doesn't allow calender sync and I wanna clean phone...

my girlfriends hero has the same issue. it has android 1.5 and she wont let me flash a new rom on it so she is getting annoyed with it because of this gmail/googlemail fiasco. Nevermind, il just say sorry it needs a new rom...
couldn't you simply remove the accounts and readd?
can't be done due to embedded linked data - I just reset the phone and set it up again (which I'll do again tonight once I've baked an MCRr2+App2SD)
Just change your account back to @googlemail.com if you can't be arsed with a reset. You only gain Picasa sync anyway.
I wanted the gmail.com as it's quicker to type! I'm lazy!
Even if you are officially @googlemail you should be able to use @gmail in all incoming and outgoing mail - works for me

And if you change to gmail.com, googlemail.com will continue to work too.
I cannot be bothered. I use googlemail.com for entering credentials I don't need to enter again (such as e-mail), after all it's the actual username and gmail.com for logging into forums/giving out to friends etc...
Despite resetting my account to @googlemail and doing a factory reset on the phone, I discover today that both online and on the phone I am @gmail - without a word from Google!

I found that you often had to make the account switch a couple of times for it to actually register.
easily done in android 2+ but 1.5 i cant seem to find a way of removing/readding accounts.

Does anyone know how to delete an e-mail account that is displayed but doesn't really exist...I'll explain...I have a gmail account that worked fine and one day it just stopped getting e-mails (to the phone). When I went to delete it off my phone it basically told me I have no e-mail account yet when I go to the email tab I can see it. When I try to click inbox it just brings me to the accounts screen, and it does NOT display it. So I had to set up another link on my phone to my gmail account. Now it displays two accounts, one that I can't access and can't delete, and another perfectly working one. Is there anyway I can get rid of it?
I ran the Unread Fix count script and it goes through BOTH email accounts yet my phone doesn't seem to think there is two, it just decides to display two.
This happened to me as well... If I remember correctly what I did to get rid of the ghost account was to create a temporary email account that was not gmail (i just gave fake credentials)... then I reset my device, deleted both gmail accounts, then reset phone again, deleted fake account and finally added credentials for the gmail account that had been giviing me probs. Not sure how important resetting device is, I suspect that the key was adding a non-gmail account. I hope this helps and sorry if my explanation isnt clear... I am still waking up! Good luck.
