O2 shipped Rom..........Help Please - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

hey guys after messing around with WM5 i am back to 2003SE but as i have an XDAIIs here in Australia from O2 I have lost all the defualt programs that came with the device when i bort it i downloaded the new rom/upgrade for the device from O2 but still no joy can anyone tell me what rom i should use to get all the defualt O2 stuff for my Australian O2 XDAIIs?
Thanx ppl for reading.
P.S i really dot want to reload every program so if i cant get the installs from the default upgrade/instal is there a cab file that will give me all the thing that came with it/instaled from the shop?

ok so no one can help me. :-( thanx anyway guys..........

Look messed around does not help us much as in was that a large messed around or just a tiny one.
You want help but give us nothing to go by.
If you were on WM5 then you might have removed your ext_rom to gain more ram.
If you went back to 2003 then you might have tried to install the ext rom onto the removed size of that ext rom.
But hell how would I know what you did.
Fact is the default 02 files are in the ext rom
Fact is if you dont have them then you have not installed a extrom.

02 XDAII Extended ROM - WM2003SE

I upgraded to WM2003SE a while back and at the time had an Orange SIM in my XDAII and my 02 SIM in my E200 Smartphone. The extended ROM I used was Orange specific and contained all the necessary GPRS Configs etc
Anyways, I've now got a C500 with my Orange SIM in it and so the 02 Sim is back in my XDAII and I'm looking for a good External Rom dump that contains the UK 02 GPRS/WAP/MMS Configs etc and is compatible with WM2003SE.
Can anyone point me in the direction of one, I have looked and tried one or two but none have the correct configs for 02's GPRS service (Pay monthly not PAYG).
TIA
Did you get anywhere with this, Darren? I'm just wondering whether to upgrade my O2 XDAII to WM2003SE but the lack of dedicated O2 Ext.rom files (as far as I can tell) is putting me off.
I didn't but don't let that stop you, the SE upgrade is well worth it. I just removed all the O2 specific rubbish from the Ext ROM and it's fine.
Thanks for the reply.
I'd love to upgrade but without the O2 auto-config software in the ExtROM I wouldn't have a clue where to start configuring all the network, SMS, MMS etc settings for O2 pay monthly. Do you know of a guide or something somewhere?
Secondly, I searched earlier to try and find out which was the best ROM to use for those of us in the UK, but there didn't seem to be a definitive answer. Would you mind telling me which ROM you used and where you got it from if you're happy with it? I need Bluetooth headset, BT GPS, BT ActiveSync, speakerphone to work perfectly to consider upgrading. Currently my XDAII works like a charm with ROM 1.72 but some people seem to have had trouble with the SE upgrade and Bluetooth.
Thanks a bunch in advance.
I use all those BT functions alos, I used the 2.02 ROM available at the beginning of this thread.
I've left the auto config files in the Ext ROM so there is no need to manually configure anything. I have had zero issues with it since the upgrade I'm happy to upload my Ext ROM to an FTP if you want it?
The only critical noe I found was to remove the 'TPDisable' entry in the Ext ROM when performing the upgrade as you receive a lot of 'This isn't designed for WM2003SE' messages and with TPDisable enbled you can't click OK!

Forgive me if I'm being a bit fick, but I can't see where you mean. Have you a ROM available through your pocketgpsworld.com website? Or is there only one 2.02 ROM available and I can download it from this site's FTP? I thought the 2.02 ROM was the Chinese one.

I didn't know it was possible to upgrade the OS ROM without touching the ExtROM. I'm not a noob with the XDAII, but I've found the myriad threads and discussions on the question of 2003SE upgrades very confusing! Since there seems to be no obvious single solution I haven't known where to start.
If you have a working ExtROM for the XDAII on O2 UK and you wouldn't mind uploading it somewhere (this site?) I'd be very grateful. If you wouldn't mind pointing me to the main OS ROM image that you used as well then that'd be groovy too.

I guess that's achieved by editing the config file in the ExtROM once it's all installed after an upgrade?
Sorry, I thought this was the original WM2003SE thread! The download I used is at the beginning of this thread.
It's a while since I upgraded mine, I had thought the Ext ROM remained intact but reading the thread instructions apparently not. Sorry I can't help more but as I say it's some months sisnce I did it!
Aaah. OK. Thanks again, but I think I'll leave it in that case. I don't yet feel brave enough to start messing about with home-cooked ExtROMs if you don't have yours handy. It was good of you to offer though.

Extended Roms

Extended Roms???? ok i am a total n00b can anyone explain to me what these are or what you do with them?
Or at lease point me to a tutorial or info?
I also would like someone to explain what the kitchen is for?...............(& dont say cooking food ....)
any help point in the right direction would be a big help...
Thanx PPL
This is in the Wiki, I learnt from there.
Just for you, because you asked nicely, the extended ROM is what is loaded onto the phone that is non-essential to operation (basically, anything that isn't the operating system). When you hard reset, and then it starts installing software after boot; that's your extended ROM being loaded.
A lot of people make their own because they don't like/want/need the software in the extended ROM (see: O2 Active, iMate bundling Skype).
The whole cooking thing I don't really get either, I think it's just another word for rolling your own extended ROM.
Chris
Lewisham..
thanx for your help heading on over to wiki now to look a lot harder.
Cooking is all about customising your extended ROM to include the files and registry settings you want straight away after a hard reset. You will need to cook an extended ROM if you want to upgrade to 1.40 and keep your operator settings for GPRS etc.
Hi guys,
I only found this site a couple of days ago and I have already unlocked my XDA2s, stripped the O2 software, and tried out a few little tweaks.
However, I am really not confident enough yet to do anything more serious, despite being an IT & Communications engineer.
Could you please help me? I am looking for your latest ROM version to use on my XDA to completely remove the O2 stuff, hence stopping it attempting to install software after a reset. I am also missing some useful utilities, such as the battery monitor etc.
Are there any extended ROMs readily available for anyone to use, with some useful programs/utilities included?
I have looked at the wiki but don't really know what I am doing!!
Many thanks,
Bret
Oh, and I forgot to ask... is there anything available to debrand the XDA2s? I would love to stop it displaying the O2 start-up screen.
Maybe there should be an XDA-Developers start-up screen instead.
If you look through the wiki you can cusotmise your extended ROM to whatever, I ontice you have an xda 2s with vodafone- have you got any installation files (CABs) that set up GPRS, MMS for Vodafone? If not, there are cab files that are easy to add to your extended ROM, the files are here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=13498&highlight=orange+mms+settings
Other useful files are things like Pocket MSN and Resco Explorer, which you have to buy, along with O2 Plus (free download - search for it, I haven't got a link!)
If you wan to make sure all the o2 rubbish is gone for good, check out the Extended ROM kitchen , find your ROM version and then unlock your extended ROM and delete all the Operator Customization CABs that install all that O2 crap.
If you want to change the startup images (better known as splash screens) have a look here...

Hi Findus,
That's brilliant, thank you. My images have been changed and the only thing O2 now is the fascia which I can't do much about unfortunately.
I have also installed the Vodafone GPRS settings but none of them work for me, not even the straight forward dialup connection. Not sure why but the same error every time just says "No modem at this location" or something like that.
Many thanks anyway, I'm much happier now. I just need to find the correct iMate ROM. The only one I can see in the Wiki is the Asian one. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.
Cheers, Bret
Relative newbie to this forum extrom Version editing
How can I edit my version numbers of the extrom now that I have it the way I want(sorta)?
One other other question, I have all the registry settings for my personalizations, how to I place those in the Extrom to be invoke after a hard reset. Do I create a cab file for this like the other programs or can I just exec REGEDIT4 personalized.reg? I also can not seem to find where the speed dial entries are stored.

1.40 iMate ROM and XDA2s

Hi all, my new BA arrived finally! I have decided to keep it afterall. I am a total n00b at this stuff, and really struggle to understand the Wiki site. However, I did manage to download XDA tools and backup my ROM.
I then downloaded the PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200 ROM from the FTP site. It said it was going to update my Radio and Ext. ROM too. Anyhow, it comes up with the country code error.
I added that line of script into the file but it still has the error. Any ideas? I thought the iMate 1.40 ROM was supposed to work on the XDA2s.
I really want a more stable device. Are there any other ways to do this? I tried using XDA Tools to upload the NK part of the iMate ROM separately, but it said it needed to be an exact size to work.
What is the best ROM? We couldn't even figure out how to cook and Ext. ROM so if anyone could give me a hand it would be much appreciated. The Wiki assumes you know what you're doing but I really have no idea.
Cheers guys - Mike x
You don't need to use XDA Tools it you're using a standard manufacturers ROM, just the No ID program for the device ID shortcut.
I had to add the country code ID in too, but after that it was golden. Not sure what's up with you...
Chris
If you are on O2 UK and want the imate ROM that also has O2 settings for GPRS, MMS etc, have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=24000&highlight=
It's a set of instructions that I made using the wiki, as well as info other members had given me, particularly mdaIIIuser to upgrade a UK O2 XDA IIs to the imate 1.40 without having to enter GPRS settings etc manually afterwards, and still keeping the country code to O2 (which means you can use an official O2 upgrade later , without any problems, if they ever get their arses in gear!)
If you need any more help, let me know and I'll do what I can. If you have an ftp site you want me to upload my upgrade files to, PM me with the details and I'll send it you. I'd put in on the ftp here, but i don't think it's worth taking up so much space with a customised ROM.
HTH,
Fin
OK guys, I managed to upgrade my device to the latest iMate ROM, and the 1.13 radio ROM
Problem now is cooking my Ext. ROM. I know I can't update the Ext. ROM that came with the iMate ROM. I want to put my 02 settings in, but I really don't know how. It won't let me put my old 02 image back on the phone, it says the USB is not connected properly
Does anyone have the .nb1 of the 02 Ext. ROM?
Sack that. I downloaded the newest 02 Rom I could find and extracted just the ext. Rom file from the .exe
I am learning
which o2 rom did you use? if it was the uk rom you will have problems as it is 1.31 and your rom is 1.40. you need to unlock the extended rom and copy the base rom 1.40*147 then add your o2 cabs and anything else

Hey thanks Findus, your guide was great.
Yea, I put the 02 1.3 extended ROM on. I didn't know what else to do.
Do you mean the base extended ROM of the iMate 1.40 ROM I put on? I tried that, and there is no Config.txt in the iMate extended ROM.
Sorry, I don't understand this too well

I did not do anything with upgradetools.rar but the device seems to be working fine. I haven't made a call yet as I'm cut off. Does this mean I don't have to do it?

Glad to have helped, although I can't take credit, I got all the info from thw wiki and other posts!
Have just been trying to upload my Extended ROM, it is a modified version of Cooked ERK 1.4x Base that can be found in the wiki under ERK 1.40 . This version of the EXT ROM does have a config.txt, you were probably looking at 1.40.176? All I did was add the 6/7 O2 CABS to the config.txt of the base rom, then changed the caller id cab to 1.20 from the link below:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Caller ID/IA_CallerID_1.20_WWE.CAB
You will probably have some problems with the Ext ROM you have on at the moment, because you haven't got any of the patches for 1.40 which might mean GPRS etc might be unstable.
I will try and upload my Ext ROM again later if you want, all you will need to do is unlock your ext rom, delete the files, and copy over the new files. DO a hard reset and you're away!
Good luck!
Fin
OK, I don't understand.
I just delete all the files (aside from the 02 setup ones) of my current ROM and put these ones in? I don't need to upgrade the Ext. ROM bith the BAUpdate thing?
No, you won't use the BA Upgrade itility- that is for reflashing, which if you had a ms_.nbf file(extended ROM installation file) you would need. There is no tool to edit ms_.nbf files on Blue Angel, instead you have to unlock the Ext ROM manually, copy/delete files, update the config.txt then do a hard reset. Takes some getting used to- I was used to using er2003edit with my Himalaya to make a custom ms_.nbf file, but hey, this method works too!
Good luck,
Fin
Hey man, I already did it! Well good! It's based on the Qtek ROM you reccommended with the o2 stuff added in and the caller ID updated.
now running:
ROM version: iMate 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10.05
Radio version: 1.13,00
Protocal version: 1337.42
ExtROM: 1.40.147 based on the Qtek cooked for use on 02 UK
My phone hasn't required a single hard reset all day and is still recieving calls (with sound) and messages
Thanks everyone!

Hi
I am about to get an XDAIIs to replace my falling apart PDA2K.
I want to use it on Vodafone.
Is there a real 'idiots' guide to putting the latest and greatest ROM onto the XDAIIs.
(I really do mean idiots guide by the way).
Cheers.

o2 Exec ROM Update Required ? ? ?

I should have checked this before upgrading, but is there a XDA Exec ROM available anywhere?
Won't say any more but should have it this weekend
I presume from this, you're not keep on the imate ROM you've just flashed yours with??
If you're desperate to get back, try the cabs one by one from the O2 Extended ROM that is on the FTP

GREAT NEWS !!!
Thanks for info. I hope that it will be online on the O2 site or someone will upload the upgrade. Please, just rate it from 1 to 10 8) .
My view regard the o2 & iMate roms...
The imate seems to be more stable, I've not had the system lock...yet
Performance seems slightly better, but nothing to write home about.
The Wifi issues seem to have disappeared, not sure why, and will be monitoring this.
The ui is better, all the o2 icons have gone, just a single battery icon at the bottom of the screen.
fingery, did you manage to get hold of the o2 ROM?
What's the current O2 rom anyway? I got my exec last week and it's:
R 1.04.02
G 42.37.P8
D 1.13.48 WWE
if that means anything. I was considering putting on the jasjar rom update that's on the ftp ("if it ain't broke, muck around with it until it is") since the D number is higher, but the other two are lower so I figured I'd play my cards right and wait...
M
P.S. if there's a way of extracting these, and anyone wants them, PM me with instructions/links and I'll do it.

Plz Help i need full rom w/ extendet rom for Orange UK

Hi guys
Could anyone help me to get full rom inc ext rom for orange UK.
I've got Xda trion from o2 - unlocked and my contract just finished so i 've put my orange card in it. phone is working fine
I've also flashed it wit WM6.1 MRH_5.0 and is working ok too but i dont have mms now.
Plese help with properly debranding my Xda from o2 Active to orange UK and be able to keep that nice today screen from MRH 5.0
I've got average knowledge about flashing etc so please give me simple solution
thx
There is, somewhere on this forum, a .cab for both MMS and GPRS settings in .cab files for Orange UK Contracts. I downloaded them myself about two days ago. I can upload the cabs from my phone if need be, but I'll try to find the post with them contained for you.
Edit: Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298813&page=3
Post #30, Page 3.
why not use htc connection wizard, it'll create settings for you?
Installing a cab that does it for you is easier.
So what i should do to remove o2 extended rom?
is this HTC conection wizard included in WM6.1 5.0 that i've already instaled?
I will be grateful for step by step instruction and advice which WM6.1 rom to use to have mms and video call
thank you
Tomas
thx ThinkTankInk
i've got these two files now but i'll wait maybe someone will tell me which WM6.1 ver is the best to use.
Personally I am using Schap's 3.54b. After I put this on my phone, I downloaded the cabs which I included in my previous post and installed them. Now I can make calls, video calls, MMS, SMS, GPRS etc. etc. connections. It's working flawlessly.
I'm not by any means saying this is the best way, but it's most comfortable for me and appears to be working flawlessly.
As I understand it, installing the cabs will just change your GPRS and MMS settings to connect to Orange regardless of which ROM you're on, even if it's O2's own.
Edit: I'm using WM6, not 6.1.
Thx again.
Well i'll try those cab files on the WM6.1 5.0 i got now coz i really like that HTC today screen with blac background and large whie clock thus its a bit slower that WM6.0
