imei LOCKED roms. How can we install them? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Hi,
I am located in Athens,Greece. The local vendor which sells qtek devices locks all the roms released in greek language.Today someone uploaded here,in the ftp server their last upgrade for qtek 9000.The rom's file name is UNI_QTEK_WWE_13077_130176_10900_WWE_Ship_GR2.0.1.exe.If someone has the time and the knowledge to find a way to install and use this rom in a device which has not a greek imei number it would be really helpful for a lot of people in greece.I installed this rom in my O2 exec using the guide in the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45874&highlight=1+30+76
but after the ugprade i got a message that my device wasnt sold from Ace Hellas (Local vendor) and the phone restarts again and again.Currently i use the last i-mate rom.

Finding Software Upgrading ROM on O2 XDA IIs

Hi to all,
I purchased my XDA while in Hong Kong, however I live in Australia and I am having trouble obtaining the updated Rom installation file for my XDA IIs. The Rom installed is the English ROM version 1.12.62 WWE, ExtRom version 1.12.924.
I have noticed that on the internet there are later updated versions of ROM floating around, I even downloaded on from the Europe web site http://www.msmobiles.com/news.php/3626.html Xda_IIs_v131139_upgrade.exe (38,770 Kb) but when I tried to run it the installer said that My unit was not from Europe and stoped the install. BTW the direct site is http://www.sourceo2.com/O2_Developers/Devices/O2_Xda_II/XdaIIs_launchROM.htm
I then found an Asian ROM Update here http://www.mtekk.com.au/browse/page718.html, looks great, nice instructions, and a new version, this page sends me to another web site http://www.seeo2.com/ where when I try to log in it asks for an IMEI code and then refuses to register saying this code is not for our region, but I solved that.
At this site http://www.seeo2.com/ you need to register prior to downloading, and this needs an IMEI code that matches their product, after I went to the Hong Kong part of that site I could register with my code and download, but there was no updated ROM at that site, only the updated Bluetooth driver build 3500 (Which was a big step up version wise for me anyway so I installed that fine)
It still has not solved all of my power issues, and this is an add-in that needs to be re-installed each time I reset so I am looking still looking for an updated ROM.
I hope someone out there can provide a link that points to the place I can download the Asian ROM software that works.
Justin.
O2 XDA IIs is known as Blue Angel.
Hello again.
Thought I would update my post and dispel the thought that I am an expert in this field. The O2 XDA IIs device that I purchased is also marketed as many other brand names, no surprise here, but this site has a heap of info about it under the name Blue Angel. (I think either the site was recently updated to show photos, or my PC magically started showing them today) this led me to click on the Blue Angel link.
So for all that follow down the same road as myself, check this out first.

Imate / Dopod 900 / Universal in Australia

Hi,
I recently bought a Dopod 900 from Taiwan and having read the entire upgrade forum I am still slightly unsure about the best way to switch to English. From my reading I see that O2 has issues with the extended ROM (although I'm unclear what extended ROM really means, my best guess so far is that its preloaded applications) and that the Jasjar suffers from system hangs and performance (speed).
I understand that there are two options readily available to me;
1) Use the O2 ROM located at http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft.html (since I'm in Australia I just copied their sample phone number into their form to continue on from page 2).
2) Or use the JasJar ROM located at ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/../Uploads/Universal/Shipped ROM/JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10301/
And if I'm correct, unzip and copy the modified ROM installer (located at ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/../BlueAngel/Tools/) into the folder containing the un-zipped contents of the ROM archive and use MaUpgradeUt_noID to perform the ROM upgrade.
However, I've noticed in the signatures that people have all sorts of different versions of;
a) The OS ROM
b) The extended ROM
c) The radio ROM
I've found out that my Dopod has;
CE Image: 1.13.36
Ext Image: 1.13.134
Radio: 1.04.02
And that the Jasjar ROM image (JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10301 - which has a filename of JASJAR WWE 11353 137 10402) located on this site is;
CE Image: 1.13.53
Ext Image: 1.13.137
Radio: 1.04.02
I guess the following questions are really targeted towards Australians, since the Jasjar has been available now for a short time and there would be some users downunder, I would like to know;
1) what versions are they running?
2) what provider/plan they are using?
3) what applications are they using (skype, pdf reader etc).
(I noticed on my Dopod, which still has the chinese OS on it, it is installed with KKBox, Pocket MSN, ClearVue PDF, Zip, and Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc).
I do not know what KKBox is. And what's funny is that with the Voice Commander, I happen to know that "saigen" is see-you-later in madarin which stops the Voice Commander application. However I'm not too keen on learning madarin just to run my PDA.
So before I take the plunge and convert to English I would like to get some feedback from locals as to what they are running.
One last point, I got quoted from PDA King in Taiwan (I used a phone card to call) NT$1200 to switch my PDA to English. When I asked them about getting a copy of the OS on CDROM for furture restores I was advised they don't use a CDROM before its burned onto the ROMs. I think they are having me on, considering the talk in these forums, but I'm curious if anyone in Taiwan has had an english conversion done for them by a retailer?

Michael
Hi,
I found a Dopod site at www.dopodasia.com that stated "In addition, new ROM can be downloaded in “Member” section if you subscribed as a Dopod member"
The membership registration page is located at http://210.64.124.195/Dopod_en/member/right.aspx
Unforuntately the registration page is rejecting my serial number, I'm at this moment calling them for help to login. In the meantime, has anyone sucessfully logged on, and what ROMs are available?
Regards
Michael
Hi,
The Dopod Asia site seems to have a good FAQ for the Dopod 900
http://210.64.124.195/Dopod/Singapore/En/Support/FAQ/3Gsubnote/?sm=Left1_pro_9_1_1

Michael,
Did you manage to register on the Dopod site? My Serial # was accepted but the next page with more detail got stuck on the Account field right after Nickname field. Any idea what you need to enter there?
Thanks for any help yo umight be able to provide. Regards
Hi,
Not yet, we caught them at the end of the business day. They advised us they would reply via email, but we're gunna call again tommorrow morning as a little reminder.
Are you able to paste a screen shot of the next page, that way I can see what's coming up and maybe ask them direct what they need (save me trying to work it out).
Michael
Hi,
I got in, this is what I did...
1) Selected "have not yet purchased" - this takes me directly to the account details page and bypasses the request for a valid serial number.
2) I thought "Account" was something to do with your provider, it isn't it is the name you want to call your membership account. You use the "account" name and "password" to login. So account can be anything.
3) Then you get sent an email confirmation with an activation link, just click the link and login.
I'm in at the moment the only thing I can see that can be downloaded is the user's manual, the "home page" in the member's area says...
Dear Client:
Thank you for purchasing Dopod products. To get the most enjoyment out of the products, we continue to cooperate with domestic and international companies to deliver updated services and downloadable programs for you.
Please click and download the program according to the description of Games or Application Programs. We will constantly provide work-related, modern living, games and other application programs for you. Thank you for your continuing feedback to us!
Dopod International Corp.
...I think I will still call them and ask them about where the ROMs can be downloaded from as stated in this quote, "In addition, new ROM can be downloaded in “Member” section if you subscribed as a Dopod member." and where the applications and games reside (or a timeline of when they are due).
Regards
Michael

First one kkbox is music box same as ipod, only can use in Taiwan others
place are useless.
2nd I don't think PDA king in Taiwan can give you any copy of ROM ,
because Dopod don't have any English ROM , they just flush I-mate
or O2 ROM for you,you can get ROM from here as you mention
before.
3th Dopod Taiwan didn't post any ROM upgrade for Dopod 900, I will try
to login Dopod Asia and post here.
Hi,
I've recieved the following response from Dopod Singapore (www.dopodasia.com). By the way I'm hoping that since the Singapore branch of Dopod is english speaking, that they will have an english version of the Dopod ROM.
Has anyone tried to register as a member with the other dopod sites?
Dear Sir:
1) Is there any difference in between logging in as a member who has purchased to one that has not?
A member who has purchased will see all the contents.
2) Where in the member area can I download the ROMs, which were referred to in this quote, "In addition, new ROM can be downloaded in “Member” section if you subscribed as a Dopod member.", located under the title trouble shooting on page, http://210.64.124.195/Dopod/Singapore/En/Support
Currently we don’t have any new ROMs for Dopod 838 and 900. if we release a ROM code, you will see it.
3) Where in the member area can I download the applications and games, which were referred to in this quote, "Please click and download the program according to the description of Games or Application Programs." located on the member home page, on page, http://210.64.124.195/Dopod_en/default.aspx
We will keep putting applications, games and ROM codes on our web site, if there any news will send a e-mail to u.

O2 ROM without country code error?

Hi,
Anyway know where I can source an O2 Exec ROM that works with the No ID ROM installer (MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe)
I got my Dopod 900 converted from Chinese to English because this site had the JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10402.rar file available which included all the ROM files and the installer that allowed me to bypass the country code errors.
However that file seems to no longer be available, I'm keen to test out the O2 ROM (in corporate mode of course), but both the ROM here and the one available from O2 seem to be .exe's which I've tried and both give me the country code error.
Has anyway here experienced the country code error managed to get the O2 ROM installed?
Could you let me know how you did it please?
Regards
Michael

O2 Xda Exec ROM update issues

Hi there,
First things first I'm totally a newbie. I owned a treo 650 before I got my Xda Exec, it just for lack of a better word sucked.
I have a very old ROM version (1.13.48 WWE) and the radio ROM is just as old (1.04.02) I did manage to get the device unbranded by soft restarting before I got to the Windows is installing crap that’s gona slow down your device screen.
I know I am not getting the most out of my device with this ROM. So I tried to update I wasn't able to find the latest Qtek Rom (which seems to be the most popular here, on this site) on the ftp, has it been removed? I tried to get the latest O2 ROM from the O2 site but was unable because I didn’t have a O2 Phone number. I did manage to get the Vodaphone (vf-uk_v1640_aku2_v130194_wwe_ship) and T-mobile (UNI_TMUK_12032_120_10600_Ship) ROMs but when I go to install them I get this error message.
ERROR 120: Country ID Error 22-22-44-44-44
I see the there are a few people on this site that have gotten other ROMs to work on the O2's. How was this done?
Also what is the "best" ROM to date and where can I get it?
Thanks,
Tom
PS I’ll likely have many more newbie questions in the future, sorry
Try here for the official O2 ROM (1.30.162)
http://xda.o2.co.uk/downloads/Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v1.30.162.exe
Have a look on the wiki if you want to install the ROM from another operator, or just do a search for country code error and you will see where you are going wrong- this has been posted hundreds of times before!

Xda Orbit Ger -> Xda Orbit Eng

Hi all,
Firstly I would like to thank the moderators for providing such a great site.
Secondly I am hoping someone can give a real answer to my question.
I have an XDA Orbit phone with German (GER) ROM v1.25.207.1. I would simply like to change this ROM to an English (ENG) version, keeping all the same features I have (eg WIFI, GPS), just using the english language.
I have seen many posts about upgrading the ROM to a generic one, which as I understand it means I have to goto imeicheck.co.uk to purchase an unlock code. This then allows me to load a non-orbit ROM onto the orbit (eg generic Artemis ROM)
What I would like to do however is load an ENGLISH Orbit ROM onto my GERMAN orbit. I don't think I need to do the imeicheck.co.uk routine to load an Orbit ROM.
The problem I have is that I cannot find an english ROM for the orbit on any sites?. I am wondering firstly if anyone knows where I can download an english ROM for the Orbit. Secondly if no one has an english ROM, does anyone know if it is possible to dump the english ROM off an existing english handset if I find one?.
I am happy to upload this ROM for all the other users of the site. I think this is a common problem but very difficult to find a straight answer of what my options are to get english language on this device.
Thanks, Towelie.
rom location
tovelie:
try to use local ftp server to get required ROM.
_ftp://xda:[email protected]
it is in /Artemis/Shipped_Complete_Updates foder.
the ROM you are looking for is:
ARTE_DOPODAU_12570702_026990_WWE_SHIP.exe
there are few remarks. it is unlikely you will be able to re-flash your device, if it is not already CID unlocked.
CID unlock is available from imei-check.com.
please keep in mind that even with CID unlocked device there are problems discovered on Orbit, it still does not flash with another ROM.
hi fdp24,
thanks for your reply.
I assume from this you are saying that I can load the dopod firmware on the above ftp if I CID unlock, but if I do this there are problems with this firmware and the orbit anyway?
my understanding is that the CID unlock basically stops the phone checking the "vendor id" of the firmware (ROM) so you can load a generic firmware on it instead. I am hoping I can get an orbit firmware so I can just load it without the need for CID.
from further reading it would seem it may not be possible to dump the firmware/ROM from the handset as the commands to do this are now protected with a password?
Does anyone at all have an english firmware specifically for orbit? Is it possible to download this from o2?.
Thanks, Towelie.
