O2 ROM without country code error? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Hi,
Anyway know where I can source an O2 Exec ROM that works with the No ID ROM installer (MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe)
I got my Dopod 900 converted from Chinese to English because this site had the JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10402.rar file available which included all the ROM files and the installer that allowed me to bypass the country code errors.
However that file seems to no longer be available, I'm keen to test out the O2 ROM (in corporate mode of course), but both the ROM here and the one available from O2 seem to be .exe's which I've tried and both give me the country code error.
Has anyway here experienced the country code error managed to get the O2 ROM installed?
Could you let me know how you did it please?
Regards
Michael

How to get the version info on the installed ROM

I have a qtek which was bougth with the french version 1.66.02 FRA. Having trouble with the BT , I upgraded it to a version I cannot remember. All IO remember is that it is a WWE. I want to go to the 1.72.02 but I always get the error message country code error. I have tried using ER2003Edit to change the operator and the langage (various patterns) but without success. I have once seen a pacakge that was able to display the version installed on your ROM. Does anyone know where I can find this package.

Vodafone V1640 UK - ROM Updates

Having already used the O2 XDA, O2 XDAII and the O2 XDAIIs I have been spoilt by O2's ROM updates via their own website.
The problem I have is that by changing to Vodafone I now have no facilities via the Vodafone website to do the same. How do you update your ROM if you have a Vodafone V1640?
Would appreciate your comments

If you love O2, you can flash the O2 ROM onto your Vodafone Device without problems.
Just use the search button on how this is done.
Thank you. I am a little concerned that the O2 ROM will erase my Vodafone settings as well as conflict with Vodafone protocols. I understand that the ROMs will have the same Microsoft Mobile 5 updates but also embedded are the phone company's unique settings and addional programs.
Do you know whether Vodafone issue ROM updates and if so how do you obtain them?
Thank you for your help and assistance
Why do you want to change the rom, (is there problems with the vodafone Rom) and what other programs are on the Vodafone Rom that you would loose.
As for settings you can enter all settings anyway into any rom as far as I know.
There is nothing wrong with the current ROM. I just want to stay up to date. New ROMs normally (and I say this tongue in cheek) have improved facilities.
The O2 site does not allow my V1640 (or in the O2 case XDA Exec) to be updated by their ROM as the IMEI does not tally up as being an O2 valid product.
I guess it's back to the drawing board for my quest.
just add the number 3 right before the .html and even if u dont have a correct imei, you can access the site of O2
Thank you. I will give that a try.
Will it erase all my Vodafone settings?
All Hard Resets / Full ROM Upgrades erase everything. I believe some roms have CAB files with operator settings. Download the Imate ROM, Install, then look for the VODAFONE .CAB file in the extended ROM, copy it to PC, then Upgrade to O2 ROM then run the CAB file that you copied to the PC

imei LOCKED roms. How can we install them?

Hi,
I am located in Athens,Greece. The local vendor which sells qtek devices locks all the roms released in greek language.Today someone uploaded here,in the ftp server their last upgrade for qtek 9000.The rom's file name is UNI_QTEK_WWE_13077_130176_10900_WWE_Ship_GR2.0.1.exe.If someone has the time and the knowledge to find a way to install and use this rom in a device which has not a greek imei number it would be really helpful for a lot of people in greece.I installed this rom in my O2 exec using the guide in the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45874&highlight=1+30+76
but after the ugprade i got a message that my device wasnt sold from Ace Hellas (Local vendor) and the phone restarts again and again.Currently i use the last i-mate rom.

O2 Xda Exec ROM update issues

Hi there,
First things first I'm totally a newbie. I owned a treo 650 before I got my Xda Exec, it just for lack of a better word sucked.
I have a very old ROM version (1.13.48 WWE) and the radio ROM is just as old (1.04.02) I did manage to get the device unbranded by soft restarting before I got to the Windows is installing crap that’s gona slow down your device screen.
I know I am not getting the most out of my device with this ROM. So I tried to update I wasn't able to find the latest Qtek Rom (which seems to be the most popular here, on this site) on the ftp, has it been removed? I tried to get the latest O2 ROM from the O2 site but was unable because I didn’t have a O2 Phone number. I did manage to get the Vodaphone (vf-uk_v1640_aku2_v130194_wwe_ship) and T-mobile (UNI_TMUK_12032_120_10600_Ship) ROMs but when I go to install them I get this error message.
ERROR 120: Country ID Error 22-22-44-44-44
I see the there are a few people on this site that have gotten other ROMs to work on the O2's. How was this done?
Also what is the "best" ROM to date and where can I get it?
Thanks,
Tom
PS I’ll likely have many more newbie questions in the future, sorry
Try here for the official O2 ROM (1.30.162)
http://xda.o2.co.uk/downloads/Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v1.30.162.exe
Have a look on the wiki if you want to install the ROM from another operator, or just do a search for country code error and you will see where you are going wrong- this has been posted hundreds of times before!

Thanks mate.

Xda Orbit Ger -> Xda Orbit Eng

Hi all,
Firstly I would like to thank the moderators for providing such a great site.
Secondly I am hoping someone can give a real answer to my question.
I have an XDA Orbit phone with German (GER) ROM v1.25.207.1. I would simply like to change this ROM to an English (ENG) version, keeping all the same features I have (eg WIFI, GPS), just using the english language.
I have seen many posts about upgrading the ROM to a generic one, which as I understand it means I have to goto imeicheck.co.uk to purchase an unlock code. This then allows me to load a non-orbit ROM onto the orbit (eg generic Artemis ROM)
What I would like to do however is load an ENGLISH Orbit ROM onto my GERMAN orbit. I don't think I need to do the imeicheck.co.uk routine to load an Orbit ROM.
The problem I have is that I cannot find an english ROM for the orbit on any sites?. I am wondering firstly if anyone knows where I can download an english ROM for the Orbit. Secondly if no one has an english ROM, does anyone know if it is possible to dump the english ROM off an existing english handset if I find one?.
I am happy to upload this ROM for all the other users of the site. I think this is a common problem but very difficult to find a straight answer of what my options are to get english language on this device.
Thanks, Towelie.
rom location
tovelie:
try to use local ftp server to get required ROM.
_ftp://xda:[email protected]
it is in /Artemis/Shipped_Complete_Updates foder.
the ROM you are looking for is:
ARTE_DOPODAU_12570702_026990_WWE_SHIP.exe
there are few remarks. it is unlikely you will be able to re-flash your device, if it is not already CID unlocked.
CID unlock is available from imei-check.com.
please keep in mind that even with CID unlocked device there are problems discovered on Orbit, it still does not flash with another ROM.
hi fdp24,
thanks for your reply.
I assume from this you are saying that I can load the dopod firmware on the above ftp if I CID unlock, but if I do this there are problems with this firmware and the orbit anyway?
my understanding is that the CID unlock basically stops the phone checking the "vendor id" of the firmware (ROM) so you can load a generic firmware on it instead. I am hoping I can get an orbit firmware so I can just load it without the need for CID.
from further reading it would seem it may not be possible to dump the firmware/ROM from the handset as the commands to do this are now protected with a password?
Does anyone at all have an english firmware specifically for orbit? Is it possible to download this from o2?.
Thanks, Towelie.
