Activesync connection as soon as bluetooth turned on - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Is there a way for this? I hate to start the process:
1. go to bluetooth manager
2. connect to activesync shortcut
I am currently using a profile manager, phonealarm, wherein when I put it to home mode, I have my bluetooth activated. I would like to have it connected to the pc using bt as well, without much intervention. Any suggestions?

ActiveSync via wifi is awsome, but one question remains

I managed to finally figure out how to use activesync without having to use a cradle. So far I haven't had the troubles that I have had when I used the cable and cradle. No more inactive activesync, can't synchronize errors, and having to restart activesync every few hours or so.
I managed to have activesync running for 2 days straight without any problems and restart of any sorts. This leads me to beleive that using wifi with activesync is more stable than using a usb/cradle.
My question is, can I completely abandon the USB/cradle when upgrading ROM, app installs, or anything that has to do with using the cradle and usb cables?
I don't know the answer for certain but I should think so.
What I need to know is how to sync using wifi without it trying to access GPRS instead.
Any ideas?
My 2s is configured to access wifi first (I think the setting is under the wifi config). If wifi isn't available, then it tried to access GPRS. My carrier charges an arm and a leg to use gprs, so I never configure the phone to access my carrier's GPRS. I rely on free public WIFI access and my home WIFI access to do all my internet jobs.
You'll still need the USB for ROM updates; everything else you can do over WiFi or BT.
wifi
Hi nomad,
im trying to configure my laptop wifi (peer-to-peer) and 2s. My 2s can connect to laptop wifi but the activesync is not performing connection or no connection at all. appreciate your help.
thanks.
@3waygeek, Thanks as I have not tried update anything since I pay a service to upgrade my things on my PPC. Sprite also does not like to backup via WiFi. I had to connect the PPC to the cradle.
@hoobas, I have WinXp/Sp2 installed. I have not had any problems connecting other than the occasional ActiveSync annoyance when I'm connecting with the USB cable. I'm sorry that I can't help you. I have not experience your problems so I can not give you a diagnosis.
wifi and MS Activsync
hi nomadman
can u let me know how u set up wifi to sync activesync? i have a WLAN at home and cannot see where the option is to use wifi to sync MS Activesync.
I also want to get away from having to use the cradle each time i want to sync . AT present i am doing it using infrared which is ok but like u said wifi must be better.
Also, i have two machines (a laptop and a desktop) in my wifi network. Desktop is hardwired and laptop hangs off wirelessly. How will my xda IIs know which machine to sync with?
cheers

ActiveSync starts automiatically on USB, serial, and Bluetooth connections. You'll have to use the ActiveSync link located on your PPC to connect to the PC via WiFi. This is assuming that ActiveSync does work on both your PPC and desktop. So it's best to connect to ActiveSync at least once via cradle before going ActiveSync via WiFi.
Only install ActiveSync on either your lappy or your deskop, but not on both. One limitation with ActiveSync is that you can not use more than two partnerships without some fiddling around with your PPC and your networked PC.
About Cradle ActiveSync.
Uninstall ActiveSync -> Reboot PC -> Reinstall Active Sync 3.8 and don't touch any thing or open any programs while installation is in progress.
Mine is working like a charm

How did you do it?
I've used the search function but I couldn't find anything about it.
Thanks,
Dino
OK, got it to work, too. Very nice
But I had to set my Network Connection from "Internet" to "Work".
Is it possible to use both settings? My Wireless LAN connects also
to the internet, so I won't switch everytime I want to sync or surf.

In the network settings of yr phone, enter the ip address of machine you want to sync with as WINS server. That will tell yr phone which machine it has to connect to. You can set up peak and offpeak timings in the mobile schedule of activsync on ye PDA, so that it can sync every 10 or 15 mins .
Sorry if my question is too noobish. I have read so many articles talking about establishing wifi sync between a wifi enabled PPC and a wifi enabled PC, but havent been able to do yet. Do i have to have another software to enable the connection ?
Can any one please explain slowly and in detail how you could do that, i've been searching for quite a long time but still no result. And 1 more question is that after i can sync through wifi between my O22s and my laptop, does it affect the wifi connection of my laptop and my O22s? A bit silly right but i'm a new user and i'm not in IT field also. Thanks for any suggestion from you guys.
@azeemakhtar,

@ducga,
1. Install ActiveSync 3.8 on your lappy or PC, but not on both.
2. connect to activesync via cradle first.
3. remove unit from the cradle and reset.
4. click on the ActiveSync link on your PPC and tap on the Sync button.
* The above procedure should be able to get activesync working via wifi as long as there isn't a setting problem in your router managment or firewall.
* The above precedure should work if your are able to connect to the interent on your PPC via wifi.

I also have to do the following:
3a. Click Start / settings / connections / Network cards
3b. Select Network Adapters
3c. Change 'My network card connects to' from 'The Internet' change to 'Work'
3d. Close, reset (for luck)
3e. Open ActiveSync on your desktop PC, select File / connection settings / and tick allow Network Ethernet !!
4. Now when you click on the ActiveSync link on your PPC and tap on the Sync button - it won't try to use GPRS to connect and WiFi will be listed as your Work connection.
I always have to change my network card settings back to 'The Internet' before I can browse again.

Go to ActiveSync on your XDA, click tools, options.
It will say "When syncing remotely with a PC Use this PC:"
It should list the network name of the PC you currently have a partnership with. i.e. "TOMSLAPTOP"

Does it always have to be pda starting activesync using bluetooth manager? Or can it be pc's bluetooth initiating it without pda intervention?

Since you can start activesync (that is after connection !) on the PC using MS Activesync (The application). I think there could verry well be the same option on BT...
Put more important: What do you want to do, and why ?
It's difficult to get cellphone signal in our area. I have to leave cellphone by the window sill to have signal. I'm currently using Jeyo Mobile something, to send receive sms through pc. Once I remove cellphone from the window, to enable BT, phone signal will be off. I plan to leave it there as soon as I get home, and use PC to initiate BT connection, and use Jeyo immediately. I don't want to get the Blue Angel and start activesync via BT.

You could chose for the option to try activesync each xx minutes, that would cause a connection to the PC when it gets in range....
Do you cradle it in the window ? Maybe you could set 'activesync when cradled' to BT ? It would also start a connection...
You mean I can start activesync from my pc as long as my blue angel's BT is on? Without me having to press anything on the blue angel?
no, you will have to set "sync every xx minutes" on the PPC..

AKU3.x: (the new improved) Internet Sharing via Bluetooth

Hi,
did anyone manage it? For me it works fine via USB, but not via BT.
When I press "Connect" on my PPC a Bluetooth PAN with my notebook is established. Everything looks fine exept the notebook doesn't receive any data.
Switching the Bluetooth PAN in Internet Sharing back to USB, WinXP recognizes a internet sharing device and everything runs like a charme.
What's wrong?
I've just been using it via bluetooth, works very well.
I do find bluetooth related things very variable though. To set it up on this occasion I had to get the phone to discover the pc, only then could I get the pc to discover even though I had the phone in discoverable.
I was then offered the PAN service from the phone on the PC and it created an icon on the desktop.
Ok. Got myself a new and better BT USB Stick (Belkin instead of no name ebay).
Now it runs like hell. Very great feature!

Can I use my dash as a wireless modem ?

This works with my laptop, YMMV:
1. Enable Bluetooth PAN on the laptop, go into bluetooth settings and enable it there.
2. Pair the phone with the laptop, using a secure connection.
3. One the phone go to Start>Accessories>Internet Sharing (click the icon).
4. Before you hit Connect (left soft button), be sure that PC Connection is set to Bluetooth Pan and Network Connection is set to T-mobile Data.
5. Hit Connect, now on the laptop, double-click or right-click and hit connect on the shortcut for the phone PAN Icon.
6. It should say Status: "Connected" on the phone.
7. Surf to your heart's desire if you have unlimited data.
Wifi
Will this also work with the Dash's wifi? I mean i have another pda with bluetooth and would like to be able to use the dash's wifi to browse.
thank you, jehlinger!
Bluetooh Dun Works!

SyncMate Not Working

I am not sure if I am the one of the few or one of the many. I was excited to get my tp2. Only on the first day I find out that syncmate don't work well with it.
Here what I did on a OSX 10.6.2 Macbook Pro and I hope someone can kindly enough to point me out my error.
BT Route:
1. extracted driver cab to phone
2. under driver, checked bluetooth, selected allow all connection
3. disable firewall on macbook
4. Paired with Touch Pro 2
*returns with error message saying bluetooth DUN can't set up
5. Unlike more device have "connect to network" after pairing, my TP2 has none of cause, because I can't establish DUN.
6. the result is that Desktop Syncmate add connection returned with bad device message.
USB Route:
1. Plug phone to usb port
2. chose activesync option on phone
3. Syncmate has no respond
any clue?
Hi app3.0user!
1. With regards to Bluetooth connection: please go to Start > Settings > Connections > Wifi > Network adapters on your mobile device and see whether there is Bluetooth PAN Driver.
If Bluetooth PAN Driver is listed there, it means that pairing was not complete and Mac computer couldn't spot Network Access Point service on a mobile device.
2. With regards to USB connection, please, provide us with System.log during USB connection (send logs at support @ eltima . com)
To find System.log please follow Applications -> Utilities -> Console - Launch. Choose System log, clear it (toolbar button - Clear Display), try to establish connection with your mobile device via USB in SyncMate and send us the messages from system log.
The real reason...
It turns out is that the USB connection was blocked from Missing Sync and PocketMac. I have both installed on my mac. That's why. Now it sync fine!
