O2 XDA Software Upgrade's site is down(maybe new ROM coming) - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Check this out:
http://www.my-xda.com/
This site is since today at least not available anymore. I suspect O2 is coming with the New ROM really soon, maybe even this week, and as I have read in one on the topics it will include AKU2 and A2DP

Up now
It is up this end and I would be suprised if they needed to down the site to make anykind of announcment like this.

I get that I am not authorised to view this site. Hmmm strange
The reason for my speculation is that t-Mobile UK site was down before they released a new ROM so I thought maybe it is the same here...

This is the specific page where previous upgrades were made available to download..and yes its still down...
http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft3.html

By me the http://www.my-xda.com/ does not work either.
Even if I navigate to it from the O2 website

Site is working for me all day....weird
no new updates here: http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft3.html

I see, Well it also works now for me but I am at home now... different ISP.
Actually it could be our DNS, I'll have to check tomorrow

Theory on next ROM releases

I have a small theory as to when the next ROM updates are going to ship.
Well since the Universal is running the WM 2005 and the SP2 for Exchange already shipped, all we are missing for the push feature is the MSFP (Messaging & Security Feature Pack). SO the OEMs are dying to win corporate users to use the universal or magician, since also the fact that Blackberry might have to stop selling in the US...
Taking all that into account I would expect that iMATE & O2 are going to wait with the release to incorporate the MSFP into the ROM. T-Mobile might also this time join since they are dying to get as much bussiness customers as possible. Here in holland the MDA PRO was available to Businesss customers 2 and a half weeks before they started selling it to consumers. I can verify that because I work as an ICT manager and I was contacted by T-Mobile rep who wanted to come and deliver me the MDA PRO the next day if I agree to take a subscription. I have refused that since we use KPN and UMTS and t-mobile has no UMTS yet. But knowing t-mobile maybe they still are going to let the chance go.
Also this is the reason the QTEK has not released their device at least here in the NL you can not get it yet it is expected in the end of November. the Qtek 9100 (magician) is already in the shops but that device is meant for consumer market. the QTEK 9000 is the business device and I think (maybe I am wrong) it will ship already with the MSFP in it. As I remember reading Microsoft should release the MSFP in the first half of November...
PLease feel free to comment critisize etc. But keep in mind this is just a theory...I might have some facts wrong!
Oh Yea I forgot Orange which is also not yet released at least here in the NL
My theory has just received a blow...
I have just seen two online stores in NL claiming to have the QTEK 9000 in stock. Although on the www.qtek.nl the device is only mentioned that it exist and further no aditional info. And this coming from the site which was the first one to post the 3D anymation of the QTEK 9100.
I have to look into this first thing monday, if they realy have them in stock.
P.S. For those interrested the two stores are:
www.smartphonestunts.nl & www.smartphoneshop.nl
I believe that all operators are waiting for MS to supply the update before they can mess it up a little then distribute it.
And it could also be that MS are holding off the release until the security pack and activesync issues are resolved.
Yea the Operators are real stupid, I mean there is ready device software why stick your own crap in there.
About the MSFP: On the dutch Pocket PC site www.pocketinfo.nl there is an offer to buy the KJAM plus a year sunscription including the push functionality. In small letters they write that for the real push functionality you have to wait for the MSFP to be released untill then the users are more then welcome to sync on schedule.
Anyhow I hope the MSFP is real close since this offer has just appeared now so I guess they know more then we do.
actually i'm thinking that the new ROMs are o their way because MS has done their homework (you cannot release only half of the package) so it's up to the HTC to finish the ROM then up to the carriers to provide it to us.
I'm afraid MS HAS done half the job, again.
MSFP is RTM as of the 4th Nov, according to my contact.
Question is, how long will it take the likes of Orange to incorporate it? Blummin long time I reckon.
F.
Is there anyone with an MSDN license ?? I beleive you could get it there
Nope, it's not on MSDN Sub Downloads.
It's got to be integrated with the providers' software (ROMs) so they only supply it to the providers. With the exception of those who were on the Windows Mobile Beta program, but if you stuck a copy of (I thinkk it's called Crossbow, the next version) on your machine most features wouldn't work I suspect!
We're at the mercy of buttholes like Orange.
F.
Well that sounds really disturbing. what if I want to deploy the feature enterprise wide. I mean I am myself an ICT Manager but our company is too small to pull a muscle but large multinationals are then also at the mercy of the operators or shall I say buttholes?
Aye, it seems that way.
Problem is, I can't get any decent info from MS about it, and Orange say that there's nobody to ask there - even the data guys, who apparently "have access to almost every system in the company", are not told about ROM updates until they're on the website!
We'll have to wait and see. As I say, I believe the MSFP went RTM last week so it might not be tooo long...
For the record, I'm an Exchange consultant and so have a vested interest in this damn push-email thing.
F.
Bad news guys ... i hope that i'm wrong.
From the Microsoft Launch of VS2005 today in Milano seems that the new features will be available only from 2006 , meaning that we can only hope for ROM updates without the security and exchange improvements.ùù
As an additional info ... the italian Jasjar is real, brought by TIM. It has the italian ROM version.
We are all waiting for this ROM for the JASJAR & belive me I am checking the site of imate three times daily!

Any news on HTC version of WM6?

Does anyone know the latest or expected date for the generic HTC version of the WM6 rom?
cheers
I've called HTC Europe yesterday. They answer me the rom could be available at end of Juni or July.
(sorry for my english)
thanks for the reply, but bad news now July is getting mentioned :-(
cheers
Gus
ok, sorry. Where do you find this news ? (for my information)
umm, you gave me it??
I called them too... They confirmed that they 'hoped' that it would come out still in June... But no more specific information other then in the already existing press release in regard to WM6 in general on their website.
Frustrating, that the branded devices 'go first', and that it's merely a political issue not to release the upgrade yet...
If at least a 'decent' expectation would be set, one could choose between the unlocking and the WM6 version of T-Mobile...

Same thing, I called UK hotline and they mentioned somewhere between the last week of june and the first one of july.
It's very frustrating, I've got six I'd like to update and have already been down the unsuccessful road of using the T-Mobile ROM.
I wish HTC would get their skates on with this for people who have been brand loyal to HTC instead of buying a carrier specific model (Dash, etc).

Any hearings from HTC?

June is ending, oryginal relase from HTC should be released very soon...
i was wondering the same thing....
I've been wondering the same. I used to fiddle about with roms when I had the magican and big storage was the thing.
These days I just don't have time to play and just need a rom that I can get up and running without fiddling. My phone is in urgent need reformatting and I was hoping to wait for the WM6 rom, but no sign of anything on the HTC site so far though
Just called them
Because I have a bricked dutc p3300,
The guy told me they are finilaising A WM6 upgrade, but there is no release date yet,
I am going to send mine to the repair center in belgium
http://www.eurotwice.be/
Mine was also bricked
i called belgium they came to pick-up at my work and
brought it back at work in holland and it was fixed for free
Big thanx to QTEK/HTC belgium
Someone on the Dutch GoT forum received this answer from HTC Europe:
Thank you for contacting HTC Europe regarding Windows Mobile 6.
For further information on our Windows Mobile 6 update strategy, including which devices will receive the update, please see the following link:
http://www.europe.htc.com/z/pdf/press/WM6_statement_v6.pdf
Once released, they should be available for download from the support section of the HTC website
We are expecting it between 7-8 weeks.

That's still a long time to wait
The question is, WHEN he recieved this Mail...
The header in the message from HTC says April.
Also the ending of june is mentioned in their mail for the rollout of the software...
So maybe next week or so?
I'm glad to know I am not the only one checking the support section on HTC every time I go on the web. I though for sure the update would be out by now. I wonder how many languages they will release? I assume they will need to support every language they sell the phone in.
Hi, I'v called O2 Customer Care (or something like that - service guys anyway) yesterday asking for WM6 and they told me, that their engineers are testing it right now. They are recieving new information and updates every tuesday (?) and processing them (?), whatever it means. Anyway the guy hold my call and spoke with someone...after a while he told me, that WM6 will be released very soon (next tuesday ?) for XDA Orbit. He could not specify, where the update might be avaiable (web site, O2 stores etc.). Anyway what I'm trying to say is, that probably HTC launched WM6 for HTC 3300, they sent it to all network providers and "their enginners" are probably attaching right now some cain of "provider software" to it (like O2 today plugins, settings etc.)....and they are testing it. Proof ? - O2 German WM6 ROM, launched by German O2. And England ? Too long guys, way too long....
And by the way, just noticed. itschase I see, that you're from Germany. There is Windows Mobile 6.0 waiting for you at http://www.o2online.de/nw/support/downloads/software/xda/xdaorbit/index.html . Official German O2 WM6 Update for your XDA Orbit. Enjoy man ! .

Yes, thank you. I am from Germany, and live here now, but haven't all my life, so English is my language. Hence my presence on this board. Changing language was all I was ever after - because my German is slow and inefficient.
And there might be another reason: I' a native-german-speaker, but I don*t want to brick my phone.
I wait for official release of HZC in german.
For me, the phone is a tool to use, not a hobby

O2 (UK) Orbit Update WM6, Any News??

June is about to end and nothing on O2 web site about the new ROM. Any news / updates available for XDA Orbit?
yeah!!!, gotta email them and tell them not to be lazy anymore.
at least release the factory rom for o2 uk, then my phone can be back to life!!
My update from O2...
I emailed O2 with this exact question....(When will WM6 be available for download)
They called me a day later saying that they intend to release WM6 for the Orbit at the end of summer (around end of August sometime). That was exactly what they told me.............
I guess it's just a bit more of a waiting game then..........so annoying when version 6 has been around for a while already.....

if i was you, i would remove his name from your post, as you are posting his name without his consent. im sure he wouldnt mind, but just to be on the safe side, id star it out...
, posted to quick, didn't saw that. Anyway thanks for your advice.
Rubbish O2
I'm getting annoyed with O2, they are taking our money away and doing nothing back. Orbit is such a lovely phone and the only reason they do not release the wm6 update is to buy a new xda. Buggers.

Erm, there is an O2 WM6 update...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437499
Has been around for at least 9 months to a year now....
By the way - every single ROM in this forum you've posted contains WM6.1, even newer than 6. Take a look around before ranting...

O2 UK NoDo update

I have a branded HD7 on O2 in the UK. According to their twitter feed, O2 are supposed to start pushing out NoDo today, 5th April. As yet, I have seen nothing. As an experiment I thought it woud be interesting to try and measure the time span of the O2 roll out. So, if you are on O2 and happy to wait for them to push the update (rather than hacking it yourself) please post time and date the update is offered to you either on the phone or on Zune (please specify which). Thanks in anticipation
Microsoft's official Windows Update site still lists O2 as "Scheduling" so they haven't released it yet, unless MS are being tardy in updating their site.
O2 is pushing the update now!
Yep, its out, updating as I type this
I spoke to their idiot support desk yesterday and got this emailed to me:
Thank you for your recent handset enquiry regarding software on your handset. Please find details of how to upgrade your handset software to version 7.0.7390.0 (16GB) below.
Visit the HTC support site and follow the instructions
Upgrade URL: http://www.htc.com/europe/support.aspx
We hope this has answered your question. Please note that replies to this email will not be actioned.

What a total bunch of idiots! It takes you to the normal old style HTC support page, which of course has no information on HD7 updates at all!
Well after getting the Zune notification that the March update was available, and running it, it stopped at Stage 6, and my O2 UK HD7 is now bricked. I've tried all the methods, (The support tool, hard reset, etc, and no luck. Currently Zune gives the Error Code C101002E.
Later: Managed to Flash to an original O2 UK Rom from the HD7 Development forum, and the Feb\Mar Updates went fine this time on a clean virgin setup.
OK, Got my update, it took 50 minutes to update start to finish - seems like a long time!
Started to update this morning but had to abort as it took too long and was going to make me late for work. Will try again this evening. Stock O2 UK HD7. Incidentally, Microsoft's Windows Phone Update status site still says O2 are "Scheduling" so it's obviously out of date.
