What would be cool

What would be ideal, is some sort of glasses that have LCD screens in them the you could use for the display. They could also have earphones built in for speakers. And they could have built in Bluetooth or WiFi to connect to a Pocket PC Phone device.
Something similar to the ones on this page:

Only a little more stylish. Something that looks like a regular pair of sunglasses, only with the built in LCD's, earphones, and Bluetooth. Heck, maybe even with removable lenses that you can replace with clear ones for use indoors or at night.
And to take it to the next level, some sort of Bluetooth remote control device. Something that has a built in mouse (that works in the air) and has volume controls (and maybe a few more buttons).
Then you could have a Pocket PC Phone and leave it in the case while you watch movies, surf the net, etc viewing on your glasses. And you could control it all from the tiny cordless mouse.
This could be a few years away, but the technology to make it happen is there. Hopefully somebody will release them to go with the phones coming out this year (running WM5).
lcd panels soo close to your eyes would need a pretty high resolution for you not to get bothered with the pixelsize == high price
not to mention all the people who would sue claiming that
focusing on something so near their eyes caused them permenent damage to their sight
None the less, they make these things right now. That link is one company selling them, but there are lots of them out there.
The only difference I am talking about is making them cordless (bluetooth or wifi) and making them a little more stylish (like regular sunglasses).
So whatever the problems are with LCD glasses, it doesn't matter because there's already lots of companies making them.
that pricerange is not for everybody though
problem with bluetooths 700Kb/sec bandwidth though
dont even think normal wifi could saturate that bandwidth
with more then a few fps much like the backpack for xda2's
dont think current models are mature enough for supporting such expensive scifi'ish interfaces
Bluetooth might be a little slow. Wifi is plenty fast enough though. I stream video all the time (with audio) over wifi and it's not a problem at all.
Yeah, the price is rather high. But it's not out of the question. I mean, some of those are cheaper than the PDA's we would use them with.
you stream video in 800_600 and 1280_1024 res ?
odd that their reso is not widescreen like the view of people
another problem i guess would be resolution
a pda would have to have a better res then even the vga ones have now to
not look pretty bad if displayed so close
i mean displaying at 1280_1024 dont help any if the image being displayed is 480_640 or 240_320
Resolution won't be a problem. Just make it a vga resolution. The screen is so small that it will still look good up close.
Making it a vga resolution should also make the price lower, and make it easier to stream. It pretty much solves all the problems.
would be nice with some sort of glove thingy to access the interface too
Yeah, they sell them at this site:

Need a bluetooth version though...

That's awesome! Make that cordless and it's exactly what I'm talking about. I wonder if those guys sell a cordless version (either WiFi of Bluetooth) and have drivers for a Pocket PC? WM5 drivers would be perfect. Then I could get it with a Universal when they come out and I'd be set.

Plantronics Pulsar 590A, Unusable due to blue blinking light!

Hi Guys.
i bought the Plantronics Pulsar 590a A2DP Bluetooth headset.
and it works great good sound, good connectivity etc.
But.. and its not a small BUT.. the freaking blue blinking light is to strong!.
people look at as if i where some kind of UFO going around with that blue strong blinking light. and this is in the middle of the day.. i cant even express how much its standing out in the dark. looks like some kind of blinking polis helmet.
so to my question. i have talked with Plantronics about this problem and they have no solution. i cant shut down the light using a software hack(button combination) and they cant supply me with some kind of manual to get to the diode to cover up the diode.
Does any of you guys have a solution for this?, i can be the only person that thinks this is annoying to the extent that i render my headphones unusable when used in the public.
No solution from me, but I like to have a look of a photo of the blue light in action
just use a black felt tip pen and color over it should dim it
I've noticed before with blue LEDs - they are so frickin bright - you need sun-glasses to look at them!
Hanmin: yes i think i will post a picture later.
zbee:i thought of using a black felt tip pen. and tried it.. but the ring that blinking blue is of some kind of material so it wont stick.haven't tried this fully yet.. eg different pens etc
i was on the bus yesterday .. and i had to put the cloak over my head so people would stop looking at me.. but. the freaking light finds it way out so it looked like i had some blue halo or something on me.
The red light is possibly even worse. I leave my 590's charging in their cradle overnight. Once I've managed to get to sleep with the thing blinking away in the corner, if I get up in the middle of the night, it feels like I've woken up in a house of ill-repute....the entire room is bathed in a red glow....I just hope that passers-by don't get the wrong idea one day!?!

hahahahha.. yea havent thought of it that way
here is the pictures.. one dark and one light..
as u can see the light is to freaking strong..
I also have this headset, and for me the strong blue light is the only drawback on the entire device, i love all other aspects of it!
(especially now i have different earcushions on it)
I also dimmed the light with a felt pen, a cd-marker to be precise. A tip for when you are applying the pen and you cant quite see what you are doing... put the device on bluetooth discovery-mode so the light flashes blue&red. Now you can see exactly where you need to put more ink
This option only dims the light little bit, if anyone has a better solution, let me know
I also have them. I bought them a long time ago. wow. They are great piece of device. Anyhow, use black tape (electrical tape) and cut them down to the right size. Not perfect but a suggestion.
Being honest, I would look at someone with that headset not for the blue light, but for its size. Everybody will look at you wearing whatever kind of headset that covers your ear. The light just makes them turn earlier. I would use them at home... anyway, watching an evening movie with such a blue blinking may not be the best experience IMHO.
they are not big like a DJ headphones..
anyway.. haven't used them for days now.. just lying around at my desk.
feel like an idiot with that blinking light.. (Beam me up scotty!)

Plantronics LED's are really strong now that you mention it. I also have a Plantronics Voyager 510SL + HS10... and the blue LED is really powerful.. lights up my room.. it has a red LED too and it is also very strong. Everyone gets attracted to that small BT headset just because of that blue blinking light.... but the call quality is awesome. Its worth $500 if anyone going to buy it.
I have a motorola with the same problem, I can understand and find it usefull for the glow when turning the device on and maybe after pressing a button, but is there really a need for them to carry on glowing while lisening to music? Hopefully the manufactors wll get the hint one day....
I wouldn't say they are unusable because of that blinking. This is in my opinion a minor iconvenience for a very good headset. And black tape should easily solve your blue light problem

Blueangel vs wizard?

Hi.
is wizard is most stable than blueangel i mean:
-wi-fi
-Movies
-phone
-comfortable
-BT
-fast and stable rom
Anybady can tell something about this?
Double post
Hi,
I had a Blue Angel (Orange SPV m2000) for 2 years before switching contracts and getting a Tytn/Hermes (successor to the wizard). After getting used to the smaller screen, I thought the Hermes was great for the next 18 months, until I dug out my Blue Angel. I couldnt believe how much nicer and easier the 3.5 inch screen is to read and use without the stylus compared to the 2.8 inch screen of the hermes. But what really surprised me was how much quicker the blue angel was compared to the hermes, which seemed real sluggish in comparision. I have now just flashed the Blue angel to WM6, and it is awesome. I'll sacrifice the lack of 3g and size of the blue angel for all it's benefits!
Regards
PS - I could watch movies no problem on the Blue Angel in full screen. I couldnt on the Hermes as the play back was too choppy. It's even worse on my mates Kaiser!

Video out quality

I am curious to find out (for the ones that actually do use the video out option), what the quality of the video looks like...
I used the dongle hack (where you cut the blue wire) in order to get video out of the phone w/out the need to purchase the video cable. But, the videos to the tv come out very whitetened out, very bright, and not very clear.
Is the official video-out cable's quality of video to a tv better?...or is it the same low quality, whitened video?
Thanks for your input.
i got the cable and have used it a couple of times, i don't remember the quality being "whitened" at all..
it was decent, played youtube videos on a 52" lcd and they were a bit pixelated but still viewable.

[Q] What is a good mp4 editor (GN4 and PC)?

I'm looking for a decent video editor for when I take video with my phone. Let me say, that I'm honestly a noob at this. I basically want to be able to trim a video (beginning and end), and if necessary, flip the videos. That, and also eradicate the problem I had with a video I took yesterday. It was basically a concert at a bar, where I was right in front, inches from the monitor. The sound was great. The singer's hair was blonde, and his hair basically reflected all the, I guess you call them skyhook lights in the ceiling, so there was an annoying glow around his hair. The drummer of the band had a glass shield around him, probably for noise cancellation, and in the video, I could see the glass light up from the lights as well, in a similar fashion to the singer's blonde hair.
In short, 3 questions:
App to trim videos.
How to flip videos (they looked 90 degrees off on my phone but perfect on my PC)
How to eradicate glow from light shining on blonde hair and a glass shield.

Can a moderator please move this to the Q & A section? Sorry, I missed the initial sticky post. Thanks.
Did you hear about Faasoft MP4 Editor? My friend recommended it to me and happy with it.
It seems to do the tasks for you.
