I am curious to find out (for the ones that actually do use the video out option), what the quality of the video looks like...
I used the dongle hack (where you cut the blue wire) in order to get video out of the phone w/out the need to purchase the video cable. But, the videos to the tv come out very whitetened out, very bright, and not very clear.
Is the official video-out cable's quality of video to a tv better?...or is it the same low quality, whitened video?
Thanks for your input.
i got the cable and have used it a couple of times, i don't remember the quality being "whitened" at all..
it was decent, played youtube videos on a 52" lcd and they were a bit pixelated but still viewable.

Hi,
is there a youtube player, where I can use the HQ/HD version of the youtube videos?
In the standard player the quality is still low, even i set it to hight quality.
in the app, click on the gear (next to the "X" used to close the program). then go to video playback quality and then ensure its set to high quality.
I did set it to high quality but it seems its still the normal quality in youtube, the low quality is below normal, or am I wrong in this case?
perhaps the video you are viewing was uploaded before the high quality option was introduced. try looking at one you KNOW is availabile in high quality to test.

i think youtube website detects your connection speed and deliver the corresponding quality format to ensure non cute streaming with best quality/stream rate
An application with format HD (or really High High Quality) would be good for our Touch HD
Because, it's real (=true? that mean the same think, doesn't ?)... With Youtube App, videos are in bad quality (even if we choose High Quality in settings)
My provider is SFR and I've a 8Mbps connexion.
A few things:
- HD will never happen and is total overkill. First of all, HD youtube videos are 1280x720. Way bigger then the Touch HD's screen. Second, the processor can't handle this resolution and scaling.
-The video you are watching must have been encoded in HQ, because HQ video has a higher resolution (Standard= 320x240, HQ 480x360 in 4:3 cases).
Looking at the resolution, it's true that it's not the highest quality the Touch HD can display, but if the original source is of high quality and it is uploaded correctly, it looks GREAT on my screen. So the source is key!
As a test, set quality to high in the settings and do a search for:
creature comforts - cats or dogs? part 1 (spelled EXACTLY like that, with spaces and all)
Check with the info button it is the one from the 'Aardman' channel and view it. Now that looks pretty darn good to me!!
Check out the other ones from the channel as well,... very funny

I bought the cable on Brando Shop
wow, it works so flawless even while playing a game. Thanks. Now I'm thinking of uying the same cable. But then again, when would I use it?
Yes, i don't think i will use it so often
hard to really judge quality from a video, of a video.
would movies shown through the TP2 be passable for actually watching a movie? what about audio quality?
sorry if you addressed this in the video, i couldnt understand a word you said.
If you watch in HD is better.
You can see every movie you have in your PRO II with a good quality and with the TV audio.
Great video!
Gracias!
De nada
Does your common .avi file (divx/xvid) run smoothly?
Yes, but resolution hasn't to be too high, about 500 is optimal.
ooh, most avis I seen are around 624x352
So I recorded some videos in a dark bar yesterday and they turned out... surprise surprise... terrible. The lighting was bad, and sounds was clipped. etc... not that I really expected much.
I did notice some odd things. First is that the frame rate was 13.7 for some reason. Is this because of the low light and it needed to expose the camera higher? I would have rather they raised the ISO or darken the image then lower the frame rate from 24p.
The other is that the audio was 8bit... I know that the mic can't really capture much, but I am wondering why not give it a little more room.
The last question I have is what formats can the Evo play locally? I tried to clean up the video and audio as much as I could on my laptop and want to put it back on the phone. Anyone know?
Hi All!
Soo... Its nearly Christmas an my wife has asked what id like
My immediate reply was a pair of video glasses
I automatically presumed I'd be able to use it with my SGSII (with the HDMI video out n all)
So off I went googl'ing the hell out of them.
I cant seem to find any "directly" compatible so I was just wondering if any one had any ideas on the concept?
I want to be able to use them with my phone and my PS3.
Has any one had first hand experiences with them?
It's a lot of money to invest in something I've never had a play with
Here are a few I've looked at >

I don't need the VR option (unless its free lol )
Obviously I'm trying to do this as cheap a possible (For around £250 or less)
and I'm not too fussed if the screen is around the 40-50 inch range (again wouldn't say no to the 80 incher )
Please any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
If it were me, I'd get something decent for Christmas.
The displays you are looking at have resolutions of 640x480 max and will look rubbish as a virtual 80in screen. If you have an HDTV then you'll be disappointed if you put a PS3 through any video glasses IMO. The cheaper end of the range have 320x240 displays and will look even worse.
Not only will VGA or QVGA resolution look very pixelated on an (virtual) 80"-diagonal, but also consider that most footage will need to be downscaled in order to fit these low resolutions. If you downscale 1080p or 720p videos they will look acceptable, but if you downscale PAL footage (720*576) to VGA (640*480) you will get a quite blurry result.
Btw the PS3 can natively output VGA-resolution if it's in NTSC-mode (see http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/3_15/settings/videooutput.html), so it won't have that blurry-effect like downscaled PAL-footage, but it will still look pixelated.
Do get an idea of what to expect, just change your computer's resolution to 640*480 and go close to the screen.

Fair enough. I thought it was all relive to the actual screen size..
I had a friend that hadn't understood he needed to hook his PS3 up to his HD tv with a HDMI cable, The difference was astonishing. not what im after.
Thanks for your help guys. I hold off for now.
Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the ZTE Axon 7 come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.

Just wondering why 4k looks so much better than 1080p, even when watched on a 1080p screen.
Almost as if they deliberately made video less than 4k look crap.
I wish the audio quality was better. I found out that axon records audio at 96 kbps which is lower than other phones. I wish I can increase the bitrate for audio.

It has something to do with bitrate. LinusTechTips made a video about this but im not near a computer.
These clips should not be listed as "raw". They should called ungraded or unedited. Too much confusion with RAW.
While the video itself it really nice, and the audio is great in regular settings.... In LOUD settings, such as a full, live band, you get a terrible mic clipping noise.
Here's an example
Video of loud fireworks in Valencia:
I have to set anti-banding to 50Hz (not to auto or 60Hz), there are a lot flickering.
I took a video of starting and running my car after doing a lot of work to it and having it off the road for many weeks. I was very surprised at how well the mics picked up sound. As I moved around the front of the car, many different noises were easily identifiable and extremely clear. I shot it on the snap camera hd app instead of the stock camera.

Here's a short vid I took today. Cold start cycle on the car. The phone handles quite a lot of loudness pretty well.

I was messing around with the Axon 7 this afternoon. Fitted a phone mount at the top of my front windscreen in the car and took some footage whilst driving with the windows fully open. In all previous phones this resulted in really bad audio with wind noise and vibrations destroying what I would want to hear.
Pleased to say, the recorded audio with the A7 is shockingly good! It's loud and clear with great dynamic range and doesn't pull back with a sudden loud noise. Very real. Will install a crashcam app to see how that looks and sounds, although I have a fairly good dual camera crash cam installed already.
ZTE have implemented audio recording with the DAC very well but the mics must be better than average too.
